April 2015

[edit]

Hello, I'm Bagumba. Your recent edit to the page Sim Bhullar appears to have added premature information about a reported sports transaction, so I have removed it for now. The transaction is based on anonymous sources and/or awaiting an official announcement. If you believe the transaction has been completed, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. —Bagumba (talk) 03:53, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Marcus Thornton.PNG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Marcus Thornton.PNG. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 03:33, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Marcus Thornton.PNG

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Marcus Thornton.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:02, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Teams listed in the infobox

[edit]

Please see this discussion regarding teams listed in player infoboxes. Only if a player had appeared in a game for the team does it go in the infobox. Eddie did not make an appearance for the Hawks so, by the set out standards, it is not listed in his infobox. DaHuzyBru (talk) 04:16, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bhullar and Kilpatrick played in games while on 10 days. Eddie did not. C'mon, this is not that difficult to understand. DaHuzyBru (talk) 12:43, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Jarell Eddie. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a loss of editing privileges. Thank you. —Bagumba (talk) 06:14, 18 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

NBA draft night

[edit]

Hi! I've noticed your recent contributions, many of whom are related to 2015 NBA draft. Someone being drafted doesn't automatically mean a contract signature. Wait until official announcement by the club. Thanks!--AirWolf talk 02:10, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

NBA free agency

[edit]

Hi UVABallers,

Please refrain from changing the teams of players who have signed/been traded in free agency until the NBA moratorium ends on July 9, and teams can officially sign. Per WP:SPORTSTRANS, we do not update the infoboxes of players until the transaction is official, either by a league official or by a press release from the team.

Thanks, Natg 19 (talk) 22:25, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I see, so Tyson Chandler should be a free agent till July 9?

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2015–16 Miami Heat season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page James Ennis. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Orlando Magic

[edit]

Why did you revert my edit to the Orlando Magic page? I know theres no article on John Bohannon (basketball). Red links facilitate article creation. Plus the link is to the wrong John Bohannon. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 21:49, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There's no need to create an article for John Bohannon (basketball). Unless you're willing to do it, which would be awesome. It would make more sense not to link an article because there are so many players in the summer league which don't have articles. Let me know if you have any more questions.

UVABallers (talk) 23:14, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I might get around to it. The main problem was that the link was to the wrong Bohannon. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 00:47, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I also want to thank you for letting me know the link was wrong. Thank you :)

Cedi Osman

[edit]

Please explain to me how Cedi Osman could play overseas and yet the Cleveland Cavaliers could still retain the draft rights on him?

Hardcoreromancatholic (talk) 22:21, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

When a team retain's a players draft rights, it's for a couple of years, or a year, but they're not allowed to sign with any NBA team, other than the cavs, he can choose to play overseas, or the cavs could sign him, but till the cavs confirm if they sign him, he will continue to play in Europe. Let me know if you have any questions, cheers :) UVABallers (talk) 00:03, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding edits to the Phoenix Suns Roster

[edit]

Hello UVABallers. I would like to inform you that your recent edits to the Phoenix Suns roster template, in which you replaced it with the Boston Celtics roster and then caused a template loop, seem to constitute vandalism. Please don't be doing that. 98.166.147.93 (talk) 03:13, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm aware, although, I was trying to add the phoenix suns real roster, I don't believe that is the real one. If you could please add the real template, that would be better. UVABallers (talk) 03:27, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2015–16 Kentucky Wildcats "departures" photos

[edit]

Hi - I noticed you've re-added photos of six players listed in the "departures" section of 2015–16 Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team. I had removed these with a pretty detailed edit summary as to why. I'm not interested in edit warring over it, but I really don't think pictures of six players who aren't on the team the article is about is worthwhile. They take up a lot of real estate in a section meant to be a short list and, again, these players aren't even on the team. Additionally, the string of pictures causes problems on some browsers. For instance, as I view it on an iPad, he pictures extend well beyond the frame of the page, shrinking the text. I'd like to ask you to reconsider adding this number of pictures of departed players to season articles. Rikster2 (talk) 01:37, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm confused, because in the past sesaons, there's images of players who left that season, like James Young and Julius Randle. UVABallers (talk) 19:48, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'd disagree with photos used in this was for ANY college season. The players who left just aren't important to the team's actual season, which is what the article is about. Rikster2 (talk) 22:41, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

So are you going to take those pictures done? UVABallers (talk) 01:20, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy to, but I thought I'd see how the 2015-16 UK article played out. I'm not trying to impose my will Rikster2 (talk) 02:51, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Free agents

[edit]

Hi dude! I'm aware that free agents on NBA rosters can technically be removed from rosters, however, the reason we keep them there, is to make not just my job as an editor, but also yours, along with anyone else's, easier. You can quickly click the player with the free agent tag and see if he has signed with his previous team or anyone else (in the association or overseas), plus, it makes it a bit easier to find out if less experienced editors have been editing those pages before any official announcement has been made (as they should per WP:NBA). So, I humbly request you to leave the FA's there for the remaining of the offseason (or until they officially sign), specially, because as long as they have the "FA" tag, nobody will think they officially belong to said team. I mean, if we have that resource, why not use it? Anyway, cheers. Intruder007 (talk) 01:03, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
