Adva Center wikification

[edit]

The first thing that jumps out is the layout. You should have a short lead (WP:LEAD) that summmarizes the article and then the rest should be broken into a section or two. I would add wikilinks to several terms such as Policy analysis, Social movement. Should isreali be capitalized. Click on the links in the wikification tag at the top and that should give you more help. You may want to add a see also section. Bounce around wikipedia and look at other articles, especially those in categories your article is in. TonyTheTiger 19:54, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thanks Tony, now I understand and we'll do so. Tzahy 06:52, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Limor Schreibman-Sharir : Notability

[edit]

Hello, I added the notability tag because as the article exists right now I do not not believe that you have provided enough reliable, and independent of subject, sources. For example Haaretz (good) personal blog (not always bad, but not always good - Eli Eshed). I think that adding a few more news/scholarly/peer sources will solidify her general notability. I found a link that you could maybe fit into the article. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=PJoeAAAAIBAJ&sjid=Qs0EAAAAIBAJ&pg=3701,4202315&dq Orasis (talk) 03:52, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I note that on 23 May 2009, you corrected the names of six recipients of the Israel Prize (in the lists according to year). As you may have noticed from the History of the site, I have been occupied recently towards expanding the details of the site to include ultimately the names of all recipients. As to the name changes made by you, I agree with your spelling of five of the names. As to the sixth, I have reverted the spelling (from Michel Confino) to Michael Confino, which I believe is the correct spelling in English, as a general Internet search will reveal, and is the name under which his books are published. I have also amended the other five names in the alphabetical list of names, in accordance with your spelling. Based upon your experience in Hebrew Wikipedia, I look forward to your adding Wikipedia articles in English for many of the recipients who currently do not an article of their own.Davshul (talk) 19:30, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Tzahy! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 63 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Tamar Fish Nachshon - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Is Yeshu Jesus?

[edit]

Do you know much about this debate? It has become a hot issue at the Jesus article and the Yeshu article, where a couple of editors insist Yeshu=Jesus. It is my impression there is actually some real debate about this, but I am not expert. Can you speak to this in a well-informed way ... or do you know other editors who could? Slrubenstein | Talk 23:30, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Joseph Sadan has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. mc10 (t/c) 22:02, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Moshik Roth, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia for multiple reasons. Please see the page to see the reasons. If the page has since been deleted, you can ask me the reasons by leaving a message on my user talk page.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Moshik Roth, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Thanks. Tzahy (talk) 14:39, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Moshik Roth has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not clear if it is about the person or about his restaurants. In either case, adequate establishment of WP:NOTABILITY is required which must meet our criteria for WP:BLP (living persons) or WP:ORG for companies.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. [edit]

Hello, as a fellow administrator in the Hebrew wikipedia I was surprised to see the speedy deletion on this article. As I am not so familiar with the English wikipedia could you please explain the reason for the speedy deletion mark. Thank you and a happy Sukkot! --Yoavd (talk) 14:52, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The page has several issues. Firstly, it's not clear if it is about the person or about his restaurants. In either case, we're very strict here on requiring adequate establishment of WP:NOTABILITY which must meet our criteria for WP:BLP (living persons) or WP:ORG for companies. Both must meet general notability at WP:GNG The fact that he got 32 Mitchelin stars may mean that he is notable, but it must be asserted by sufficient press coverage in WP:RELIABLE SOURCES. If you can meet these criteria, it would be fine,, so I have removed the CSD and convert ited to a PROD. That will give you 7 days to find reliable sources. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:04, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

File permission problem with File:Meron benvenisti.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Meron benvenisti.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 10:27, 9 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics

[edit]

Hello Tzahy,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

I would be willing to restore it to draft space to allow you to continue to work on it and submit it through Articles for Creation, but I believe it met the criteria for deletion in the mainspace. If you find that unsatisfactory, you may use Deletion review. 331dot (talk) 13:55, 3 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

User: Tzahy, This will acknowledge that I got your e-mail. Draft:BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics, the article looks thick, deep and highly technical; it is in an area where I have little, if any, expertise or command of the subject matter. Getting involved will take a major commitment of time and brain, and that is something that I can't spare for awhile. I am busy in real life. I apologize, but I just can't handle it for at least a month. So I suggest you try elsewhere. Best regards. 7&6=thirteen () 22:42, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I should mention, that dealing with articles on biotech firms who do not yet have a commercial product is quite difficult, and there are few established standards, because most sources are subject to objections under WP:NCORP. And another part of the problem is that lay sources are not reliable for biomedicine, but fortunately you do have one very good source. BTW, check the article-- I modified the explanation I gave. And altho I suggested waiting a few months, there's enough for a viable article. DGG ( talk ) 19:00, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Journal-Gazette: yes, okay, although that's not so much about him specifically as it is "what it's like to live in wartorn Israel".

Times of Israel: that's an excerpt from his book. It's not about him. Yes, there's a capsule bio... and who wrote that? From the way it describes Mr. Greenberg's immediate family, I think we can safely conclude that Mr. Greenberg wrote it himself.

IndieReview: that's an interview. Interviews are good for facts but terrible for notability.

Ha'aretz: not about Mr. Greenberg. It mentions him. "44, a Texas native who immigrated to Israel in 1990", "independent marketing consultant who lives in the central city of Kadima", "spent four years writing his novel and didn't want to wait", and then moves on to the Kindle store and free downloads and other authors and e-publishing in general.

SDJW: not about Mr. Greenberg, it's about his book.

So: five sources, of which four are not useful and the fifth is... maybe sort of halfway useful.

Plus, all those awards... I'm willing to be convinced that the awards bestowed by BookMarketingProfits, by BeverlyHillsBookAwards (sponsored by "Smarketing"), and by ReadersFavorite ("It’s a fact. Awards grant instant credibility and influence book sellers and buyers alike!") are anything more than marketing gimmicks and shams, but it'll take a lot of convincing. DS (talk) 18:28, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear DS, thank you for you thorough examination and answer, but I think altogether there are five good reliable sources that established notability: if they think his books are notable enough to write about and deem him notable to conduct an interviews so he's important, why is a man of letters important if not due to his literary volume ? Tzahy (talk) 18:39, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Not how it works. Having published a notable work does not make an author notable, and being by a notable author does not make a notable work. There may be five good reliable sources that establish notabiltiy for Mr. Greenberg, but you supplied none of them. And never confuse "notable" with "important". I would further point out that the Journal-Gazette piece isn't about Mr Greenberg's book, and neither is the Ha'aretz piece. IndieReview seems to be pretty much a group promotional effort. DS (talk) 00:08, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dear DS, can you restore the entry and put a template of notabilty above it and let a broader forum of editors to decide ? Tzahy (talk) 07:11, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No. If anyone restores that page, I will immediately put it up for a full deletion debate, after which there will be a public record remaining of the discussion of why the author does not meet notability criteria and why his awards are all fake. Are you sure this is what you want? DS (talk) 07:20, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article INX (company) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

notability not established, no reliable sources are cited. CoinDesk is not citable. The only reliable source is Jerusalem Post, which doesn't cover the subject in-depth.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ysangkok (talk) 00:55, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ysangkok, INX got full-length articles several times in Globes and Calcalist - two of the three main Israeli economic newspapers, they are far more serious than the Jerusalem Post; I removed the tag accordingly. Tzahy (talk) 04:54, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tzahy

I am not quite sure what you meant here "how do you know that"? Do you mean whether full professors are notable or not? This is written in WP:NPROF, the only reason somebody would be eligible just based on the position is WP:NPROF#5 "The person has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research, or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon." so this means (i) major institution and (ii) named prof and (iii) full professor which would make them automatically notable. Now Eli Barkai is simply not automatically notable by his position, but he is notable due to the work he has done. Does that answer your question? --hroest 16:12, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have untagged this article but knowing the page tagger, this will likely be sent to WP:AFD. Ways to improve Ya’ara Keydar

[edit]

Hello, Tzahy,

Thank you for creating Ya’ara Keydar.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The page reads as an extensive resume and notability of its subject is questioned per WP:NACADEMIC notability criteria. It appears the main point of recognition in news coverage is Vanity Fair's selection of an exhibition the subject curated as "one of the 15 exhibitions in the world not to be missed in 2018" according to a single fashion editor, which in and of itself is not sufficient criterion for notability. Sources are mostly routine coverage that do not appear to substantiate the subject's influence beyond a career similar to that of thousands curators worldwide.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Ppt91}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Ppt91 (talk) 19:13, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ppt91, please read the sources closer and meticulously, she is less academic, and shouldn't be judge as one, she is a curator. The curator's main creations' are the exhibitions he creates. 1) Keydar's exhibitions got dozens of deep-full coverage from major media outlets (I brought a handful of them, especially in English, there are a lot more, in many languages). 2) The exhibitions are presented in established museums and galleries. 3) All the facts are based on sources, I added them in the footnotes. 4) She wrote 5 exhibition books, one biography book, and two academic articles. Tzahy (talk) 19:34, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Tzahy Thanks for your reply. I know it might be disappointing given the amount of work you have put into the article, but unfortunately this is not enough to pass WP:NACADEMIC and WP:BIO criteria. Note directions from WP:NACADEMIC: "Having published work does not, in itself, make an academic notable, no matter how many publications there are. Notability depends on the impact the work has had on the field of study."
There are hundreds of exhibitions on view across the U.S. and thousands more across the world curated by career curators working at reputable institutions who do not meet notability criteria. Critical reviews are expected and are not sufficient to justify an article for a singular curator. Otherwise, we'd need to have a page for every established curator at major institutions, which is not feasible, just like it is not feasible to have a professor page for every faculty member with a published book that was later reviewed.
Unless the specific impact and notability of this subject can be proven and explained with reliable sources, it might be a candidate for deletion. I hope this clarifies things. Let me know if you have any more questions. Ppt91 (talk) 19:43, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Ppt91, Keydar is not an academic and shouldn't be judge as one, she is a curator and should be judge as such. You didn't dedicated to this entry sufficient time, I suggest you will do that. Each one of the exhibitions she curated got an extensive-deep-multiple coverage by major media outlets: The New York Times, Haaretz, Jerusalem Post Vogue, Vogue Italia, The Hollywood Reporter etc. Keydar change completely the attitude to fashion in Israel and her exhibitions attracted hundred of thousands of visitors (everything sourced). 19:52, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
@Tzahy Again, if you believe that the subject is notable, then it needs to be made evident in the article and sources need to reliably confirm those claims rather than just describe her exhibitions. As of now, it reads more like an extensive resume that could be easily written for a lot of other career curators (I can think of plenty myself). Perhaps it's a matter of cleaning up content or adding more verification of her important role in promoting Israeli fashion history. Overall, curator pages are not very well developed on Wikipedia and many have questionable notability imho, but here are two examples Andrew Bolton (curator) and Ariella Azoulay to illustrate their respective impact in the field. I am also tagging Mccapra if you would like a second opinion from another reviewer. Ppt91 (talk) 20:11, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Ppt91, each entry could be written in million different legitimate ways, I can abridge it, no problem, and write it in many different ways, but I believe I wrote it properly. I know my stuff and have a vast knowledge of art and Israeli art. I think you didn't read the entry adequately and didn't read the articles sufficiently and I suggest you will do that. The entry speaks for itself and it's shoring up by multiple sources. It's crystal clear undoubtedly. Tzahy (talk) 20:18, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Tzahy There is no need to be combative. I never questioned your knowledge. My goal and responsibility are to ensure high quality of articles that fit into specific criteria rather than prove anyone wrong. That said, I see from your talk page that you often contest opinions of reviewers regarding notability, so I've asked another editor for second opinion. Ppt91 (talk) 20:37, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Ppt91, if you will read the articles on which the entry is based, you will understand the notability, I'm sure of that, please do that! Tzahy (talk) 20:50, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi thanks for tagging me. I agree with Ppt91’s assessment. The notability of the subject is not clearly established and there is a lack of in-depth coverage in the best sources you cite. The ToI article doesn’t even mention her. The Hollywood Reporter piece is a passing mention and clearly shows that the inspiration and creative work behind the exhibition was done by someone else. The Vogue Italia piece quotes Keydar but provides no depth about her. I’m not really seeing anything here to distinguish her for many other early-career curators. Mccapra (talk) 21:11, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Almost all the articles are about exhibitions she curated, they are her own creation, so they are actually about her (when there is a review of an art exhibition it's discussing the exhibition, and it's the same, when there is a review of this kind of curator that created her exhibitions from scratch, she initiated them, she invented them, they wouldn't exist without her, because they are theme exhibitions and not contemporary art exhibitions. Keydar change completely the fashion exhibitions in Israel, it was a neglected zone, and her exhibitions attracted hundreds of thousands of people and were exhibited in public museums and renowned galleries. Tzahy (talk) 21:14, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You can see also this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this. Tzahy (talk) 21:20, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mccapra thank you. I've moved it to draftspace. Would you kindly remove redirect to ensure the editor is given sufficient time to rewrite and establish verifiable notability before submitting for article review? Ppt91 (talk) 02:20, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ya’ara Keydar moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Ya’ara Keydar. Unfortunately, it is not ready for publishing because it needs more sources to establish notability and Page is moved to draftspace to provide the author with more time to establish notability using verifiable sources per discussion on the editor's talk page as it currently does not satisfy WP:BIO criteria. . Your article is now a draft where you can improve it undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Ppt91 (talk) 02:17, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, dear Ppt91, I apologize if I hurt you. Tzahy (talk) 15:27, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rabbi Yehoshua Fass article creation

[edit]

Hello Tzahy. I am the declared COI editor for Nefesh B'Nefesh and realized your interest in editing Israel and Jewish-related content on Wikipedia. I recently posted a draft of an article for Rabbi Yehoshua Fass, the founder of Nefesh B'Nefesh, and was hoping you would consider publishing this draft in mainspace. In 2021, a discussion about a previous draft resulted in a redirect, but this new draft includes significant changes and expanded coverage about Rabbi Fass which now justify an independent article. I'd be grateful for your assistance and input. Thank you LA for NBN (talk) 06:31, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dear LA for NBN, thanks for reaching out, I am unfamiliar with the subject, and I'm quite busy at the moment, sorry for letting you down. Tzahy (talk) 13:21, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
