Hello. I've come across this article that you deleted in the course of an AfD in 2011. The reason for deletion was the lack of notability and absence of reliable sources. I've had a look at the deleted revisions and I would like to rewrite the article based on the previous version but with addition of various reliable sources and reviews from AllMusic, Sonic Seducer and Metal Hammer. Although this band has only had two albums, these have been reviewed by said media and so I think the band now meets the threshold of notability. So instead of writing a new page from scratch I'd like to take the previous structure which wasn't bad at all, and add the required sources and improvements.
Would you be inclined to undelete this article? In that case I wouldn't have to list it for a formal deletion review. Regards, De728631 (talk) 00:28, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
- Sure, I can do that. Notability can always improve. Good luck with rewriting ;-) --Tone 09:25, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

Joseph Hallman
[edit]A few years ago, composer Joseph Hallman - then a completely unknown whippersnapper from Philadelphia - wrote a panagyric about himself in this encyclopedia. It was me who moved to delete the article, it was you who did the actual deletion.
Since then, Hallman has made a bit of a name for himself. He teaches composition at a respectable university (Drexel), he is composer in residence for a couple of institutions, and his works have been performed by serious orchestras and chamber groups and reviewed. So the time has come that he does indeed deserve an article.
I have written the article anew (minus the extraneous fluff) in userspace (User:Ravpapa/sandbox) and would like to post it to the pedia, but wanted to run it by you first. Thanks, Ravpapa (talk) 13:22, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Topic ban question
[edit]I'm not really sure how these works so pardon me (and ignore it) if Im wrong. But according to my understanding there is a violation if somethign is made (And especially reverted) on that topic across WP right? It seems that at User_talk:Kudzu1#Syrian_civil_war the OP by Sopher99 says that he is topic banned on syrian civil war articles till the 18th. It appears then that he made an edit on WP about the topic (and it was a revert without explanation of a POV statement [1]) For the record he did do this, but it was self-reverted

A request for a copy of a deleted article
[edit]Hello Tone. I have come across a (blank) Wikipedia page which you deleted a long time ago. I would like use some of the deleted content, but since the article wasn't even merged with another one, all the information there was lost. So I would appreciate it if I could see the article again - please let me know if this is possible, and if so, then I'll tell you which article I'm talking about. Thanks in advance, Yambaram (talk) 21:05, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
- Sure, that's always possible, as long as the deleted content was the copyvio or something. Let me know which article are you interested in. --Tone 22:06, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick response. The article is Criticism of Noam Chomsky. It could help me because it seems like nothing was moved to Chomsky's article, and I'd like to create a short criticism section there. -Yambaram (talk) 23:52, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
- I see now, yes, it makes sense to use the old content. Restoring now. If you create a section in the Chomsky's article, you can afterwards redirect this article to the section. Let me know if you need my further assistance. --Tone 13:42, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot Tone I really appreciate it! I found it outrageous when I saw that the article was nominated for deletion year after year and was suddenly deleted in a quick voting of roughly 10 users. I'm convinced that deleting the page was not the right decision, but what's shocking the most is the fact that no one bothered to write (or was able to recover) some criticism from the page, especially when considering the fact he is probably one of the most controversial academics in the world [2], (or is at least considered by many as such, not saying that I agree or disagree). Anyway, having copied the restored page's content for near-future use, now that it exists again, are you going to 1) delete it, 2) move it to User:Yambaram/Criticism of Noam Chomsky for now, or 3) leave it as is? Do what you think is right. Regards, Yambaram (talk) 21:45, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hi. As there seems to be no opposition, I guess the article will just stay. I'll review it soon and will link to it from other pages.. -Yambaram (talk) 00:48, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry for not getting back to this tread earlier, if we want the article to stay, we should go through the deletion review since it was deleted in AFD before. I'll move it to your subpage for the time being. --Tone 12:07, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, I see your redirected it. Well, I'm sure the article should stay, could you explain what you meant by "going through the deletion review"? If I should submit a request at WP:UNDELETE, then I'll go ahead and do it. -Yambaram (talk) 21:06, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- Well, deletion review WP:DRV is in place when there is a desire to bring back AFDed articles. There, new arguments can be presented etc. I can help you with this if you want. --Tone 08:36, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks again. These steps shouldn't be hard to follow. I'll do it some time soon. -Yambaram (talk) 14:28, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

Query re: deletion of Michael Birkin article
[edit]Hello Tone:
I am writing about the deletion of the article about Michael Birkin, the UK businessman. The article, now deleted, is here: http://deletionpedia.org/en/Michael_Birkin . When I search Wikipedia for his name, I get information about a deceased air commander: Air Cdre *James Michael Birkin*
I've read the discussion about deleting the page (here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Michael_Birkin) and believe that Mr. Birkin does indeed merit inclusion on Wikipedia. Specifically, Mr. Birkin is more than a successful businessman who has achieved what one would expect of such a person.
His work at Interbrand, where he was a major player in the growth of the company from a single, UK office into a global consulting firm (link: http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/interbrand-corporation-history/) is notable not only because of his success in building a business, but also because of his being a key contributor to Interbrand's brand valuation tool. In that regard, Mr. Birkin is a published author and widely cited expert on the topic of brand valuation. As an author he is a contributor to the book Brand Power (ISBN 0-8147-7965-4) which is referenced in a Wikipedia entry on Brand (link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brand). One indicator of the impact and acceptance of his work is that that the publicly traded company Infosys refers to Mr. Birkin's published work in explaining how it determined the value of its own brand ("We have adapted the generic brand-earnings-multiple model (reference : Valuation of Trademarks and Brand Names by Michael Birkin in the book,Brand Valuation, edited by John Murphy and published by Business Books Limited, London) to value our corporate brand, ‘Infosys’. Link: http://www.infosys.com/investors/reports-filings/annual-report/annual/Documents/AR-2011/ai_15.html ).
In addition to his work in brand valuation, Mr. Birkin has been a top executive at the publicly trade marketing agency holding company, Omnicom Group; is a successful entrepreneur, having launched Red Peak Group; and is now the chief marketing officer of the global, publicly traded company Acer. He is referenced in Acer's wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_Inc.
I'd like to request that the article be restored to my userspace where I can work on it, and add links to improve the article to demonstrate it passes notability guidelines. Then, I'd ask that the article be moved back to the mainspace by you or by me under your approval.
Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Following up re: deleted page on Michael Birkin, UK businessman
[edit]Hello, Tone: A few weeks ago you helped me by putting the article on UK businessman Michael Birkin which had been deleted, into my user page. I have been trying to revise it, and have had some success but also a few issues that I do not seem to be able to solve. I'm wondering if you would be able to help me.
The work in progress is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Herve49727/Michael_Birkin_(businessman)
One is that in the article the reference notes are not numbering properly. I am not sure why. Second is that two paragraph about his activities after Omnicom for some reason do not appear on the read version. I can see both in the edit version but not the read version. I do not understand why this happens.
The graf should read: In 2009, Birkin resigned from Omnicom to return to his entrepreneurial roots with the purchase of a majority stake in RPMC, an experiential and sponsorship marketing agency. RPMC is now part of Red Peak Group following the creation by Birkin of a New York-based branding and design consultancy, Red Peak Branding. The entities have offices in New York, London, Los Angeles, and Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
In October 2012 Birkin joined Acer as the CMO.
I would be grateful if for your help. Thank you in advance, Herve. --Herve49727 (talk) 18:48, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Recently after several years my wiki was removed. I asked to have it put back & got this response: "Delete Non-notable founder of a non-notable nutritional supplement company. A search for coverage found nothing at all. " I don't know how that's possible. I've been on several hit shows on bravo including the millionaire matchmaker twice. My logo is 15 feet across the center of the ufc octagon which 100's of millions of people have seen on TV. It's the biggest show on earth at this point. I've supplied gnc nationwide for 20 years. These are all facts that can be verified easily as well as everything else that was written. I've read it several times when it was there for years & it was all true. I found that the wiki article of "InoReader" was deleted because of lacking of notability. In fact, this RSS reader is quite famous after the discontinuation of Google Reader. You may check the popularity from the alternative page for Google Reader showing that InoReader ranks the second. You may also see the traffic rank in the world from the alexa page. I am one of the users of Inoreader doubting the reasons to delete the page. - Hi, the article was in poor shape without really establishing the notability. However, things can change and if you believe that it is notable, I believe the proper venue is deletion review where you can present your arguments (it's not appropriate for me to straightforward restore the article since it was deleted following the AFD process). - Hi. The article was deleted following a dicussion which concluded that the person in question does not (yet) meet the notability standards for actors, WP:NACTOR. My suggestion is to wait a couple of years until there is significant coverage - what you posted here is a collection of movie links, not actress coverage. Regards, --Tone 13:51, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Emma has been in numerous notable films and television shows. I believe that is the qualifier of notable actress.

Frank Bango Deletion 2008 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Bango
[edit]Hello, My name is Frank Bango and I am a working musician from NYC. I have been releasing music on my own since 1995 because It's always been very satisfying to produce and release my own music. Back in 2008 someone started a wiki page for me in hopes of helping to spread the word on what I think is "seemingly notable" music. I'm not very knowledgeable on how the Wiki system works, I suppose I could try to start another page but it would be reassuring to know that you won't delete it again. I know we live in a world were there is no shortage of self promoting, self important, mediocre artists but I think that if you spend some time digging a bit you'll see that I have been dedicated to my craft for many years, and while I always welcome some attention and acknowledgement, getting either has never driven me to work on any of my projects.
If possible it would be greatly appreciated if you could restore the original wiki article from 2008.
Thank You,
Frank Bango www.sincererecording.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.168.36.125 (talk) 21:37, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, no problem, article restored. That was a "proposed deletion" so it's easy. If you plan to work on the article, make sure you carefully read the WP:AB guidelines first in order to avoid any problems that may apperar. It's always better if someone else writes about you ;-) Let me know if you have any questions and good luck! --Tone 10:09, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
