Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

[edit]

Hello, Tintor2. How are things going with your good self? I apologise if I couldn't make it to Sasuke Uchiha's FAC earlier and I see the article failed its FAC. Quite unfortunate. To make amends, would you like me to review this article which you have recently nominated article for GA?  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 15:17, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, prob. Also, notifying Flowerpiep who was also been editing the Mitsuki article.Tintor2 (talk) 15:45, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done, taken up the GAR. I will provide comments by this weekend.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 03:41, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Mitsuki (Naruto)

[edit]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Mitsuki (Naruto) you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feedback

[edit]

Ask at the movie project for help with the movie article - they can probably give you some fresh ideas on it. All of the Japanese titles in the references should be translated (using |trans-title=) to help readers (movie article). Don't forget that Trove NLA, Category:English-language newspapers published in Japan and WP:LIBRARY exist. --122.108.141.214 (talk) 01:02, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I put some further readings in both the articles - try to find and use them before you put the articles up for GA. --122.108.141.214 (talk) 22:34, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring

[edit]
Hi Tintor2, I've marked a sentence in the second para of the 'Reception' section with {{not in source}} because I couldn't find where the source says anything like "and stated that the bond between Sasuke and Sakura became more genuine because of her.". Perhaps an editor has misinterpreted something in the source; I'll leave the passage in but it may need correcting or removing as appropriate. I've also fixed some other poorly-quoted text from that review. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 00:18, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Captain Tsubasa

[edit]

It'd probably be best to improve the main series article first with scholarly articles, and then look inside those identified sources for stuff on one of the protagonists. --122.108.141.214 (talk) 22:23, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I know it's the longer route, but I think doing it this way would be easier as you don't have to keep filtering out those sources that talk about other aspects of the main series. --122.108.141.214 (talk) 22:46, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Allen Walker

[edit]
Hi Tintor2, I've removed two small portions of text to the article's talk page because they are off-topic for this article; one sentence is about music and the other is extended character information. Feel free to return it to text if you wish. I also has problems understanding some parts of the article where the text was quite confusing. Please review my changes and correct my edits if I've misinterpreted something; I don't have the patience or the interest to properly review the sources. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 01:53, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Baffle gab1978: Thanks for the copyedit. Is there something in particular that confused you. Allen's origins (which have yet to be fully explained) as well as his relationship with Nea D. Campbell could be them.Tintor2 (talk) 02:06, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing in particular, though some passages like "Murase' work of changing between two personalities, Allen and the Noah Nea D. Campbell possessing the former, impressed the manga author to the point of joking the audio might be test rather than Murase's talent." diff—which I interpreted as "Murase's switching between two personalities—Allen and the Noah Nea D. Campbell—impressed the manga author, who joked that the audio might be a test of Murase's talent."—confused me because at that point I was unaware 'possession' was used in the supernatural sense and I had no idea what a Noah is. There's always a chance I've misinterpreted something or changed something I shouldn't have, so I invited you to check it over for mistakes because you're far more familiar with the source material than me. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 06:30, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Baffle gab1978: I see. I already tried revising the actors section as well as giving the introduction to what is a Noah descendant.Tintor2 (talk) 15:42, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

that user SubZeroSilver, he keeps putting the pronounce of each character in the KH series along org13, as well and not mention he keeps putting second in command as Second in men. @Eliskuya2: You mean the romaji? Every Japanese related article needs them. Unless there is a major difference between the Japanese and the English pronounciations, I think it would be good. I think Tidus mentions the fact the name has been pronounced in different ways to the point of attracting the English actor's attention. I'm not an expert so I would recommend you talking about it in the project or directly with Subzero. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 22:09, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrol?

[edit]

Hi Tintor2,

I've recently been looking for editors to invite to join New Page Patrol, and from your editing history, I think you would be a good candidate. Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; we could use some additional help from an experienced user like yourself. We could really use a reviewer with anime experience like yourself, as a lot of related articles come through the feed.

Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. If you choose to apply, you can drop an application over at WP:PERM/NPR.

Cheers, and hope to see you around, — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 21:18, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

[edit]

Hi! Do you know if there is a official released name for the arcs this anime has? What I know is that although you can stablish names for certain episodes since they cover a specific story, there is no a official arc name for each of them. For example, with Naruto you could perfectly stablish the names of each arc since the official DVDs revealed them. Thank you!--Maverick7 (talk) 04:48, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

i understand now that what you were referring to was that the specific section was regarding how the journalists reacted to the character, not actual information regarding kanji's sexuality: even if the journalists were spreading misinformation that could easily be proven wrong, that's what they publish, and that's that. i would've really appreciated it if instead of vaguely saying that i was removing sources, you actually told me my mistake. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:15, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think this character is notable already to stand its own article, there are bunch of newly reception already from her.

RonBot (talk) 17:12, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jill Valentine

[edit]

Hi. You commented at Jill Valentine's FAC2, which was a long time ago, so I understand if you don't want to get involved again (or even remember commenting in the first place). But JV's FAC3 was dismissed on the basis that I hadn't contacted previous commentators, so I've gone through all previous FACs and "peer reviews" and tried my best to address any issue which had ever been raised. I'm happy with the article as it is now (in that I believe it meets the featured article criteria), but I'd appreciate any feedback from any previous commentator. Do you think there's something I could improve before renominating? And would you be interested in commenting at FAC4? I'd ideally like to address every issue you may have before renominating, so the FAC can be as uneventful as possible. ;) I'd appreciate any feedback you may have, if you have the time. Cheers. Naming of Yugi Moto

[edit]

Hi! I'm glad Yugi Moto was recreated. A few things:

  • 1. It would be good to redirect all forms of the character's name to the new article
  • 2. I believe the English manga settled upon "Yugi Mutou" but I recall that a lot of the 4Kids sources used "Yugi Muto" instead and Netflix's own page on Yu-Gi-Oh! seems to be inconsistent on his name's spelling: https://www.netflix.com/title/70177034 (says Moto initially but uses "Muto" later) - I recall the characters say "Moto" but the written documentation on the English anime name is inconsistent. I do have a preference for using the English manga name (as it is the adaptation of the original work), but it's also important to clarify the English anime spelings. I wonder how the 4Kids scripts spell the name?

WhisperToMe (talk) 00:38, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@WhisperToMe: Nice to have another editor more experienced with the character. Since I'm from South America I didn't know what was the most appropiate name for the character since in the Spanish dub it was "Moto". Still, that leaves a dilemma. Should we use the English names or Japanese ones? (Joey/Katsuya, etc.) I leave that up to you. I'll see if I can move all the redirects. Lastly, it might be difficult to cite the in-universe information because the English version from Viz reorganized the series.Tintor2 (talk) 00:45, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! The English manga adaptation by VIZ Media uses Japanese names for most human characters (except Pegasus is Maximillion J. Pegasus; the volumes note Pegasus J. Crawford is the original Japanese name). I believe most European language manga adaptations use the Japanese names, except for the Brazilian Portuguese one by Editorial JBC, which uses the 4Kids names.
The reason why I prefer the English manga names (generally) is because the English-language TV series omits much of the plot of the first seven volumes of the original manga (which establish the characters), and therefore it becomes inappropriate to use the 4Kids names to describe plot elements from that part of the manga. The VIZ English version of Yu-Gi-Oh! R also uses the Japanese names of the human characters.

Question

[edit]

Hello again. I hope you are having a wonderful week so far. I was wondering if you could possibly do a source review for my current FAC? I was just wondering since you did source reviews for some of my previous FACs, and my current FAC only needs a source review, as it has already received an image review and a substantial amount of commentary. I understand if you do not have the time or would prefer not to do it. I just thought I might as well ask. Good luck with your current and future projects! GOCE request: The Rhythm of Fighters

[edit]

I did a copy edit on The Rhythm of Fighters. I just have a couple notes:

  • In Reception, where it talks about SNK's impression of the downloads, we have to be a little careful about their claims since they're a primary source. So it's a big vague before it comes to the statement from Google that gives a reliable figure.
  • I was a little confused by the Easter Egg part, and to be honest it didn't help when I checked the source: I would like to take the “in-game flick commands” for example. There, you will be asked to reproduce the Raging Storm’s command input when playing “Soy Sauce for Geese” or the secret command which allows you to play as Kyo Kusanagi in KOF ’99 when playing “Tears”. I'm honestly not sure what they're talking about. You'd better check my changes there to make sure the meaning is correct.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. – Reidgreg (talk) 20:59, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Question about Time magazine article cited in Yugi Mutou

[edit]

Hi, Tintor! I'm trying to find the exact article for "Time Magazine, Vol.157 No.22. June 2001." as TIME magazine has posted its old articles online. If you remember which article is the citation for the info, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks, WhisperToMe (talk) 22:41, 10 November 2018 (UTC) @WhisperToMe: Actually that content is in the actual Yugioh article so I can't make sure it is actual article.Tintor2 (talk) 22:43, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In that case it might need to be tagged for verification... I'm going through TIME's archives. I found two articles but they don't seem to have any in-depth interviews of Kazuki Takahashi: "Games: Yu-Gi-Oh! Comes to America" and "Look, Up in the Sky!" WhisperToMe (talk) 22:49, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This is an index of articles of Vol. 157, No. 22, June 2001 - I'm having trouble figuring out which one it would be. WhisperToMe (talk) 22:59, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

MANGA.TOKYO

You're an experienced editor in the animanga field. What do you think of the MANGA.TOKYO website? I saw several articles using the site as a source but didn't see it listed on the WP:AM/ORS page. Do you think they pass as RS or not? I see other user raising similar issue, but there's no response. -- Bagas Chrisara (talk) 16:06, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not 100% clear on what you're asking.

My method of finding the articles for Psycho-Pass was to do an article-section search on NLA Trove, with "Psycho-Pass" in quotes: like this and a Google Scholar search on "Psycho-Pass" (again in quotes). Sometimes with Google Scholar, I find it's helpful to play with the 'relevance' and 'by date' functions on the results page. The interesting thing about the results I found for Psycho-Pass is that even though it's from 2012-2014, the sources are from this year... so maybe it's only just being picked up for analysis. Another place you could look is the Anime and Manga Studies Bibliographies website, for lists of academic papers on anime and manga. Doing these steps for Fate/Zero should give you a broad idea of how reviewed it is in academic and library circles.

To request the full text of a source, you can either ask your own library or ask at WP:RX. --122.108.141.214 (talk) 02:37, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As someone researching on Ubisoft's seemingly cancelled Killing Day (which its development studio has only been found to be, so far, 'Ubisoft UK' despite there being none) I'd like to mention that I tried to upload a pic, then created an account. This pic is of the game as the page is a stub (due to the information on the game being a stub anyway), I'd like to request the upload of a pic. That's the name of the pic I tried to upload but I haven't met the requirements yet. Either way, I mainly want you to upload any pictures from the game's announcement trailer (which happens to be the only thing public apart from the cancellation being made public, (though the trademark history doesn't quite indicate that it was cancelled by any means, but that it has been a bumpy ride and had development pauses, resets and short term cancellations) by Ubisoft UK themselves. Sort of. Offhand remark, only article I could find on it is 'defunct'. The main site redirects you to another site, which no longer has that article despite many other articles from the same time frame that article was made - Either 2006 or 2007. So, if you want to make a heading specifically for the trademark history, as that on its own indicates the game may still be in on-going development, but has paused as of late, you can do that too. I'd also like to make clear that I'm behind the following edits: -Added cyberpunk genre to Mamoru Oshii's Ghost in the Shell instead of science fiction (due to the film being landmark in the genre, it is more appropriate and representative to call it as such) -Added cyberpunk and dystopian genres to both Advanced Warfare and Black Ops III -Edited the Killing Day page (duh) -Added cyberpunk genre in the main list of genres for the 2018 body-horror action film "Upgrade" rather than science-fiction (due to coinciding with the categories and better representing the film's The best of regards, dude. (or dudette?) -Added cyberpunk genre on Tetsuo II: Body Hammer due to the film being listed as such instead of sci-fi on the director's own page -Edited every single Metal Gear thing I could except spin offs to fit the cyberpunk and/or dystopian genre except for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, due to that being the first in the chronology and not fitting the cyberpunk genre as of yet due to the world simply being dystopian sci-fi at that point. -some other stuff i forgot Bruurbscat (talk) 21:28, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). That Allen Walker article looks so good.

Spanish sources:

[edit]

There's a bunch of good Spanish gaming magazines. Superjeugos was a 90's gaming mag, and they had really good coverage of Japanese only games. They had a whole section just for Japanese game previews. They even spun it off into a suppliment called Japanmania. Hobby Consolas is a good mag too. I informally went through all the 90's issues looking for interesting or rare games, and tagged a few. Someone should formally make a page for the reference library, and go through the issues and make what issues cover what games. Harizotoh9 (talk) 07:12, 14 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Tintor2,

If you or Flowerpiep are interested in expanding the article of the creator of Naruto, here is the writing he made about himself. The original sources, I have no idea. I reversed searched the first image to find it was in one of the Naruto chapters at the very end. -- 1989 (talk) 18:41, 14 January 2019 (UTC) @1989: I'm pretty sure those are the segments that happen between each chapter during Naruto's manga volumes. Just see Masashi Kishimoto#Early life and you'll most of them are there. When I collected the manga in my country (sadly serialization stopped with volume 46) little by little, I added most of those tidbits to the article. Still, I think some parts of the article might need a copyedit if it is to be nominated to GA. The only author who I heavily worked into besides Kishimoto is Katsura Hoshino but I'm not sure if there is an obligatory way of organizing real life people. Shirou Emiya

[edit]
Hi Tintor2; I've removed a significant piece of text from the article here (and see the article talk page) because I think it's off-topic for that section, being a detailed character analysis rather than discussing the creation and development of the character. I invite you to replace or re-incorporate the text if you think it's relevant and I'll c/e it as well as I can. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 02:49, 19 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Baffle gab1978: Thanks as usual. I was curious about something though. Do you think the reception section might need subsections considering how big it is and the fact that due to how more material might be added due to the new films, it might turn out even bigger. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 15:34, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OOps, I'm sorry for my verrrrry late reply here; I don't enable pings and I rarely watchlist requesters' talk pages so I didn't see your reply until today. I think the Critical Reception section looks fine at the moment, but if it gets any longer I think dividing it up into subsecs would be a good idea. Perhaps divide it up by medium; comic books, TV and film, video games etc. I see it's nominated for GAN; perhaps the reviewer will say something similar. Cheers, and good luck with the nomination. Request for help

[edit]

Hello again. I am sorry for always asking you for help with my FACs, but I was curious if you could do a source review for my current one. I completely understand if you would not want to. On a separate matter, I remember you asked me for help on the Shirou Emiya article. If you would like, I can do a brief copy-edit of the article, and post any of my comments/suggestions to the talk page to try and help improve it. Either way, have a great weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 02:53, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Aoba47: No problem. Already gave the review. What worries me about Shirou's article is whether a commentary from the talk page involving the author's commentary about the character's relationship could be added (the copyeditor removed it). Also, I wonder if the critical reception is in good state considering the amount of coverage the character got from critics due to multiple storylines resulted in a lot of paragraphs. Good luck with the FA review.Tintor2 (talk) 03:14, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • Those are all good questions. I will think about how the commentary could be reincorporated into the article. I have heard of an analysis section in a fictional character article, particularly for characters that have received a lot of coverage so I can understand the copy-editor's perspective. I will have to think about that a little more. I will also take a close look at the critical reception section. I would imagine that it must be tough to write on a visual novel, considering the multiple routes aspect. I remember writing a paper on a visual novel for school, and I encountered somewhat similar challenges. I will do the copy-edits and comments next week, but please leave a message on my talk page next weekend if I have not done so. I am looking forward to reading the article, as I genuinely enjoy these types of games. Thank you for the help! Aoba47 (talk) 03:22, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

So, while I've addressed the peer review requests not too long ago, should we wait until it closes so we can nominate it for FLC status? A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Fate characters

[edit]

Greetings from Russian Wikipedia! I've just seen your recent work with new articles of Fate franchise characters. You know... that's diligent and wonderful! Let me compliment you with such a nice effort. I wonder what plans do you have for the other franchise characters — Kirei, Sakura, Illya, Rider (F/Z)? I think they can be also notable by reviews and raitings. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to a response. Dantiras (talk) 23:02, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Dantiras: Thanks for the compliment. When it came to some works like Shirou's Archer form, I had help from another user:

@TranquilHope: I have plans for Sakura considering her large coverage from the Heaven's Feel movie as well as Illya considering she has her own spin-off. However, it seems I don't have enough creation sources to balance those characters so I'm a bit worried about creating small articles. I only know one thing about Sakura's creation and then everything is Ufotable's work rather than Nasu's. The Type Moon wiki helped to create the Kiritsugu article among other stuff. Kirei, Archer and Gilgamesh seem more difficult so if it's possible the next article I would create would be for Sakura (if we ever get creation sources). Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 00:11, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for answer. As a guy who made eight Fate and 14 Type-Moon articles in ru-wiki to GA status I can say, that I don't see such problem at for least Gilgamesh and Rider (FZ). I have seen their creation concepts in Nasu's and Urobuchi's interwievs. Since Ru-wiki is more strict in notability interpretation your high level work gives me legitimisation to create Fate characters articles. And I want to thank you once more for giving me inspiration to make ″Our answer to Chamberlain [ru]″. Cheers. Dantiras (talk) 07:00, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Terry in KOF

[edit]

Q: How hard was it to come up with new themes for established regular characters each year?

HIDEKI ASANAKA: KOF is a game series with an emphasis on its storyline. With Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami as the two main characters of this story, we always made sure their main themes would reflect their current situation in the story. Terry Bogard was simultaneously the face of Fatal Fury and of SNK, so we would often just use his theme from the Fatal Fury series. It’s not like we were forgetting about the other Fatal Fury characters, but Terry always tended to be at the forefront thanks to this popularity.

(Retro Gamer 187 p26)

Also p11:

Q: Why was Terry Bogard updated for Garou: Mark Of The Wolves?

YASUYUKI ODA: Terry’s design was becoming quite classical at the time of developing Garou: Mark Of The Wolves. We also wanted to show an older and peaceful Terry by changing his outfit.

DYK for Kiritsugu Emiya

[edit]

On 16 April 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Kiritsugu Emiya, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the tragic early life of the visual-novel character Kiritsugu Emiya was written by Gen Urobuchi as a prequel to Fate/stay night, which has a happy ending? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Kiritsugu Emiya. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Kiritsugu Emiya), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Fate/Extra, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Setting and Dummy (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

@Baffle gab1978: Thanks as usual. Sorry for the size though.Tintor2 (talk) 23:51, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Size wasn't a problem but I've done some major restructuring of the article. I think the Reception section could use more work; upon checking at least two sources I found they don't support the article text at all. Some of the syntax is awkward to understand; I did my best to make it understandable but I don't have the time or patience to source-check every referenced review extract. I've marked one unsupported sentence with {{not in source}} and fixed a couple, I also consolidated the reviews by bunching them by source. Citations should have authors' names, which can avoid getting them mixed up. Anyway, this isn't copy-editing so I'm done here. Good luck with the article. :) Cheers, Baffle☿gab 04:33, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Baffle gab1978: Thanks. The reception section felt a bit weird to do nowadays. I mean, when making Shirou I tried doing these paragraphs to divide commentary

  • Role in the visual novel
  • Role in the Deen's series
  • Role in Unlimited Blade Works
  • Role in Heaven's Feel
  • Role in spinoff-series

I tried doing that with Saber and since there is a lot of commentary in regards to her relationship with Shirou I connected that in one paragraph. However, I'm not sure exactly whether the idea of "X says this" should be used if there are generalizations or heavy commentary by scholars. That's kind of how two users made the FA Naruto Uzumaki and the GA Sasuke Uchiha whose reception sections are mostly generalizations of their role in different parts of the series while also giving commentary by scholars.
