Have you read WP:NOTBROKEN? "There is usually nothing wrong with linking to redirects to articles. Some editors are tempted, upon finding a link to a redirect page, to bypass the redirect and point the link directly at the target page. However, changing to a piped link is beneficial only in a few cases. Piping links solely to avoid redirects is generally a time-wasting exercise that can actually be detrimental. It is almost never helpful to replace [[redirect]] with [[target|redirect]]." That is exactly what you did with your first edits to Dorothy Campbell and Dale Reid. It doesn't matter that you editted other things as well. Those links weren't "broken" and didn't need to be "fixed".

I did read exactly that part, but your removal of them is also would consider to be a time-waster by the community. Also, you are not a new editor, but I am surprised that you didn't bother to even sign your comment. Tournament of Champions

The Tournament of Champions this year, from what I can tell, will be entirely on Golf Channel. Last year, parts of the 3rd and 4th rounds were on NBC. Due to coverage of an NFL playoff game and the U.S. Figure Skating Championships this year, it looks like there was no way NBC was going to be able to have any coverage of the tournament. Golf Channel ratings

For the week of the 1st through the 7th last week, the prime time hours (8:00 to 11:00 PM) on Golf Channel averaged over 200,000 viewers, nationwide across the USA. And those numbers include Monday through Wednesday before the Tournament of Champions even started, suggesting that the tournament itself likely averaged closer to 300,000 viewers nationwide. Pretty good for a digital tier cable network, as most digital tier cable networks (channels that are in the triple digits on your cable box) tend to average viewership in the low to mid 10,000's. ... Unfortunately Golf Channel is stuck in the digital tier and therefore doesn't have more viewers. It started many years ago in the basic tier (the double digits) when there was no digital tier, but some years ago is was shifted to the digital tier. If it were still in the basic tier (such as ESPN), it likely would have much higher viewership. With it averaging 100,000 viewers around the clock, in a country where an estimated 30,000,000 people play at least one round of golf per year, it appears to be getting held back by being in the digital tier. But still, the big numbers it got for the Tournament of Champions up against prime time broadcast network programming is pretty good. ... When 3:00 coverage of the PGA kicks in on CBS and NBC (the broadcast networks) later in the year, and the Fox broadcast network for the U.S. Open, the viewership goes up a lot, usually into the 2 to 4 million range; that's the difference between a broadcast network and a digital tier cable network. But with all the Spectrum cable subscribers having to have a cable box as of this year, that will enable almost everyone to have Golf Channel, and maybe will help Golf Channel's viewership to go up slightly. It will also enable more people to watch the Winter Olympics next month when the NBC Sports Network and Olympic Channel are among the NBC owned networks that will help show those Olympics. CareerBuilder Challenge coverage

About the CareerBuilder Challenge, being that it is the first tournament of the year on the U.S. mainland, you'd think it would be the first tournament of the year to have broadcast network coverage on the weekend, such as CBS. But no, each year, Golf Channel has the entire tournament. Aside from the autumn events and the alternate events, this is the only tournament on the PGA tour on the mainland to have all of its coverage on Golf Channel. It's a mystery as to why. A strange find in the cable box program

I had a similar type of finding back in November, if you remember. This time though, when looking through the TV schedule on my cable box, I found that for this Saturday, it shows that Golf Channel is scheduled to show the LPGA event this week in China on Saturday at 12:00 to 3:00 PM Eastern time. And even worse, it says "Live". Clearly there are a couple things wrong with that. First, obviously the event in China can't be live at 12:00 PM Eastern time. But second and more importantly, that time slot on Golf Channel has to have the early coverage of the third round of the WGC Mexico tournament, before handing it over to NBC. Luis Gagne is from Costa Rica though, his Twitter bio has Costa Rica stated in it and I trust him over either of us honestly, the USGA uses Costa Rica for his nationality under his player bio, and his LSU bio says he's from there too.

• Yes he was born in Costa Rica but came to the US at an early age. Per this article, he holds dual citizenship. Since WAGR lists him as USA, he must have chosen to represent the US, per http://d2aygmo1xd84v8.cloudfront.net/igfgolf/wp-content/uploads/sites/49/2014/06/IGF-Nationality-Policy.pdf BTW, other flags are wrong on the usopen site, they have Sung Joon Park aka Park Sung-joon (golfer) with USA flag but OWGR lists him as KOR. Thanks for the pickup, I pasted the wrong link, sorry! The death notice is at [1] and gives Stanley's birth and death dates as "14.11.1948 - 29.07.2018". As to why the article you are seeing is dated 28 July, I have seen this happen before: the news.com.au CMS shows the local time posted in your time zone, so something posted on a certain day Australian time will appear as having been posted the day before for timezones in the US or Europe. --Canley (talk) 03:00, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

Consensus has always been to give these Grand Slam tables a little spacing. It is not in the Tennis Project Guidelines either way, but articles such as Roger Federer are what seems to be strived for and have become consensus on these particular tables. PGA Championship confusion

The PGA Tour website is showing 88 Americans in the PGA Championship field, while the European Tour website is showing 89 Americans. So, either an American was added and the Euro site is right, or an American dropped out and the PGA site is right. Do you know which one is correct? Johan Kok is listed as South African by OWGR but as American by European Tour site. South African is correct although he works as a pro in the US. Tewapack (talk) 03:56, 8 August 2018 (UTC)

PGA Tour of Australasia points

I have changed Template:Golf Major Championships master so there is a new order from 2019. Let me know if there are any problems. This is just a patch and I have left earlier years unchanged so they are still in the wrong order for many early years, most recently 1971. FIBA Women's World Basketball

Are you paying attention to this basketball tournament? I always watch the men's and women's FIBA World tournaments, and I noticed that this time around, I can't find a good amount of TV coverage for Team USA. The only telecast of this thing that I can find is ESPN showing the championship game on September 30th, and even then, I'm not sure that is going to be shown live. 2018 Summer Youth Olympics

In case you're interested, coverage of these games will be, either entirely or mostly, on the Olympic Channel. The Olympic Channel will even be showing the Opening Ceremonies for it, on Saturday night of next week. It's spring in Argentina where these games are (I assume you know that). More importantly for the golf editors, how much coverage Olympic Channel will have of the golf, remains to be seen, but hopefully it will be a good amount. WGC-HSBC Champions

I do not sure I understand your disapproval of my edit to the table of WGC events. This is common in a table of events which are specifically classified as something beyond a regular tournament to note if the event had not been founded or if it was not considered a part of the category. See men's majors and women's majors for examples.

If the talk below is sufficient, then you should change the Major Championship pages to match, as they have notes within the table to indicate why a championship wasn't held. I am only trying to use a style that is common to PGA articles. Kevinskogg (talk) 01:47, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

Indonesian Masters

This Asian Tour event is scheduled to be on Golf Channel, according to the TV schedule in our cable boxes. Hopefully it's true, but let's wait and see. Last year at this time, our cable box schedule was showing that Golf Channel was going to show the Australian Masters, which of course is impossible these days. Once in a great while, the information in the cable box schedule is incorrect, so, I never assume with it. But, Golf Channel usually does close out the calendar year with an Asian Tour tournament, so, hopefully we will get to see the Indonesian Masters as we did last year. Justin Rose won it last year. OWGR Top-10

I'm trying to create an article on the golfers who have been in the world top-10 of the OWGR. We have this: http://dps.endavadigital.net/owgr/doc/content/2007%20Stats/86TO0810.pdf which lists those up to the end of 2007 and I've used your User:Tewapack/OWGR Top 10 as the basis for the rest of it. Currently what I've got is in User:Nigej/Sandbox which goes to the end of 2018 (current top-10 are unchanged for the final two weeks).

I haven't really checked the data up to the end of 2007. Yours seems to be an exact copy of the OWGR "69 players ...". The only errors I've noticed in your list post-2007 are in 2015 where you have two players (Stenson and Bubba Watson I think) as being in the top-10 for 53 weeks when there were only 52 weeks that year. So the 2015 column adds to 522 not 520. Your 2011 total adds to 521 but that is correct since two players were tied for 10th place in week 3).

The main problem I have is because of confusion about the end of year situation. In your list you have 2 "missing" weeks at the end of 2011/start of 2012 and end of 2016/start of 2017. I can see your logic since the 25-Dec-2011 list was used as the end of 2011 list (being the last Sunday in 2011) and week 1 of 2012 is 8-Jan-2012. So 1-Jan-2012 is in limbo. The same happened at the 2016/2017 new year. However the List of World Number One male golfers doesn't have any missing weeks: it will add to 1709 weeks (on 30-Dec-2018) which is the number of weeks between 6 Apr 1986 and 30 Dec 2018 (inclusive). Whats more the OWGR "69 players ..." doesn't have any missing weeks either. 6 Apr 1986 to 30 Dec 2007 is 1135 weeks (inclusive) which is the number of weeks in the table (confusingly the list says "1131 weeks to date" but if you add them up you get 39+52*21+4=1135).

What you find for the 4 years in "60 players ..." that have 53 weeks is very confusing. Take 2005 for instance. The situation is the same as in 2011/2012 and 2016/2017 above; 25-Dec-2005 was the last Sunday in the year and was used for the end of year (http://dps.endavadigital.net/owgr/doc/content/archive/2005/owgr52f2005.pdf) week 52. Week 1 of 2006 is for 8-Jan-2006 (http://dps.endavadigital.net/owgr/doc/content/archive/2006/owgr01f2006.pdf). So how can 2005 have 53 weeks? What they've done is to treat 1-Jan-2016 as week 53 of 2015. Quite why is not clear (personally I'd have thought it would have been better to treat it as week 0 of 2016). If you download the CSV file for, say, Tiger Woods (from http://www.owgr.com/en/Ranking/PlayerProfile.aspx?playerID=5321 Player's ranking history, if you've never done it) what you find is this:

• 2006 1 08/01/2006 Tiger Woods 17.0166 1
• 2005 53 01/01/2006 Tiger Woods 17.1635 1
• 2005 52 25/12/2005 Tiger Woods 17.1635 1

confirming (I think) that the 1-Jan-2006 week is treated as week 53 of 2005 (even though week 52 was published as the end of year list). All very confusing. Anyway to cut a long story short, basically I've changed your data to include an extra week in 2011 and 2016 - the CSV file has week 53 for these two years too).

Final points: 1) the CSV files are not 100% accurate, the Payne Stewart file is all wrong and this affects other players, but it seems ok from 2008 to date. 2) Thinking of List of male golfers who have been in the world top 10 as a name, List of the world top 10 male golfers is shorter but perhaps ambiguous. 3) Sandbox file is still a work in progress but would appreciate any suggestions. 4) thinking of moving the "current rankings" section in OWGR here at some point in the future. 5) OWGR "69 players ..." has mistakes in I think but that's for another day; currently I'm assuming it is correct. Thanks for catching my error in 2015. What you've done is impressive. I think your handling of the 53-week years makes sense - I just wish the OWGR actually published these "missing" rankings instead of having to derive them from the csv files. In 2005 you updated Furyk's total from 25 to 26 to make things add up. By my calculations Furyk was correct at 25, it was DiMarco who was wrong 32 not 31. You also made changes to 2003 (Furyk/Perry) which match up with my calculations. Nigej (talk) 16:09, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

Default width

I don't know what's exactly the problem with "excess white space" but that's just the default width for one of the most used templates in wikipedia. I checked few other pages and such width never used anywhere and all of a sudden you think that's necessary. even this Golf at the 2016 Summer Olympics for example uses the default width. if you have a problem with that change the default width not just one random page out of hundreds sports pages.
