Hi, Technohead1980, Welcome to Wikipedia!
Hello, bonjour, salut, privyet, konichiwa, shalom, hola, salve, sala'am, bonjourno, and hi! I'm Sputnik. I noticed that you were new and/or have yet to receive any messages so I just thought I'd pop in to say "hello". We're glad to have you in our community! I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it's so big but we won't bite so Be Bold and get what you know down in microchips! If you do make a mistake, that's fine, we'll assume good faith and just correct you: it'll take a few seconds maximum! I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. The Community Portal can also be very useful. If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you. Here are a few links to get you started:
And remember:
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.
  • P.S. I'm happy to help new users. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you need help with anything or simply wish to say hello. :)

Happy Wiki-ing!

License tagging for {{{1}}}

[edit]

Thanks for uploading [[:{{{1}}}]]. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:05, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Disagreement with User:62.25.109.194

[edit]

You might start by asking him to provide a source for the information. Failing that, since it seems to be a dispute between just two editors, you can post a mention of the problem at Wikipedia:Third opinion, so someone outside the disagreement can look at it from a fresh angle. Joyous! | Talk 15:05, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • At the bottom of the "third opinion" page, there's a space that says "active disagreements." Use the listing that's already there as a model for yours. It may take a few days for someone to comment, though, so don't expect immediate miracles. There's also WP:RfC, where you can ask for other people to look at an article to get a consensus on what works best. Joyous! | Talk 16:59, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Hi

[edit]

You're welcome. I was bored last night and couldn't sleep so I went through a lot of recent number one singles and added/completed chart trajectories and succession boxes to the ones that needed them. I update several of them on a weekly basis anyway. -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 12:25, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I use the Radio 1 website to check the Singles and Downloads Top 40s every week, then on a Monday I check Yahoo! because they have the Top 75 Singles and Top 200 Downloads but not until Monday. On Fridays I check the Irish Singles Chart on the Irish Recorded Music Association's website. There's also a website linked from there where you can get the peak positions of any single in the Irish Chart. Then in addition to that, there's a site called polyhex.com which gives chart trajectories for all singles and downloads! I tend to forget about albums though! Damn it, now you know all my secrets! I try to be quick because I don't like people doing it before me!!! -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 12:36, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah that would be cool.... what's yours? :) -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 17:55, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want to put mine on here either... if you activated your email on here you could email it to me or I could email mine to you or whatever... The only site I can think of where you could possibly send me a message is last.fm. I've got a link to my profile there on my user page. Not sure if it would work though. Email through here would probably be best. -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 23:36, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I sent an email, so I hope it went through ok :) -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 00:02, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you could try emailing me too... I think I emailed someone once and they never got it. -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 00:14, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Big Brother (UK series 7)

[edit]

Hey there. I'm leaving you this message as you were a part of making the article Big Brother (UK series 7) and I've had the crazy idea of trying to get it to featured status, or at least a good article. I've made a peer review page, and comments there for improving would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you see I have left anyone out could you message them as well? Thanks. --Alex (Talk) 11:36, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree! I think that the List of Housemates would be even better to be featured.
The list would probably need a lot more work on it - could you leave a comment on the peer review page? Thanks. --Alex (Talk) 13:48, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Do you have the link that shows Mambo getting the 185th place on Uk Chart? Is the Singles Chart?--Chronisgr 12:00, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the answer. So it's the Singles Chart, isn't it? Do you know how many copies it sold the 1st week? Any prediction for the place she will get the 2nd week?--Chronisgr 14:25, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deal or No Deal UK, potential deletion

[edit]

I wondered whether it would be worth setting up a separate wiki for this sort of thing via [[1]] - it would be unregulated by Wikipedia, but still linkable to here. I actually have copies of all three stats pages up to yesterday, if we need them. Elcondor 20:35, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Right, I've set them up on http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/Deal_or_No_Deal_UK - obviously if the AfD goes our way there's no need to do any more, but if it doesn't, it may be possible to get a full Deal or No Deal wiki on www.wikia.org, which I can then copy this stuff to. 2 Unlimited

[edit]

Hey,

I saw you've changed my info on Romy and Marjon .. I had to re-change it because all my new text was gone.

I knew that about Marjon and Marion, but I thought that she was still working under the name 'Marion' because here name was spelled that way in the articles I read about her jazzband .. but I was wrong, I checked the 'official' website of the jazzband (on http://www.neworpheans.com/tno/archive/cat_bezetting ) and saw that you are right and that her real name is Marjon and that she is currently working by her real name.

So sorry for the 'uncorrect' correction.

And actually I don't like jazz and I don't like Romy and Marjon .. I only wrote the added info, because everybody asumes that Romy and Marion were two new Belgian girls. But they're also Dutch .. I only liked 2 Unlimited with the real Ray & Anita

Cheers

Fitlads again

[edit]

Hello, Thanks for your message re: fitlads. The page has now been deleted so clearly an editor agrees with me on this. I also note that another person has also tagged fitlads as non-notable in the past. There are millions of websites out there, and merely having thousands of users is not, I feel, grounds for notability: Wikipedia would become a stupidly large directory of websites if that were the case. Thanks for the gaydar pointer, I will take a look at that page too. Ooooooooo 11:37, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Style note

[edit]

Hi. I have just a small note about the use of capitals. Per WP:MoS#Sections and headings, one should use lowercase except for proper names. For example,

==Over finite fields==

is preferable to

==Over Finite Fields==

This is a small thing but I thought I'd let you know. Cheers, Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 15:09, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Bonde Do Role

[edit]

The version of Bonde do Role that I deleted was created by User:Rvoid17, an employee of Domino Records. Rvoid17 had created a spammy article based on an advertising blurb, so it qualified for deletion per WP:CSD#G11. If someone were to create an non-advertorial article on the band that explained their notability, then the article would likely be kept. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 10:21, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just so you know, I put this here as there was nowhere else to put it, and may be seen by some people as controversy. No need to be rude. And I have moved it to a more appropriate section. Babygurl1853 23:45, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reversion of my edit to Big Brother 2007 (UK)

[edit]

Just wondering, why did revert my sorting of the contestants by last name in this article? Official policy is to sort people by their last name unless there is a compelling reason not to (e.g. Madonna is not usually known as Madonna Ciccone so is sorted as Madonna) so I don't really understand why you reverted it (in future it might help to say why in the edit summary). Thanks - EstoyAquí(tce) 21:54, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It being Wikipedia policy, and part of English sorting rules, I didn't think it needed to be discussed (similar to how you thought your reversion didn't need to be explained maybe? ;) ). Anyway, clearly I was wrong. There's a discussion on the relevant page now. - EstoyAquí(tce) 22:02, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Acen Razvi

[edit]

I'm very confused. This wasn't the page I moved, the page I moved was a proper article which I remember editing! The deletion log says User:Jimfbleak deleted this article today as patent nonsense[2]. I'll ask him about it. - Zeibura (Talk) 17:52, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there , I am the publisher for Acen Razvi & the original text regarding Acen's details are blatantly wrong & misleading - If you have any queries - please get in touch with either me or Acen himself thru myspace/acenmusic. The original article mentions a full name which is wrong & also that he recorded under the name Appleheads. We will consider legal action to get this resolved as it shows Acen in a misleading way not to mention the rather tame article. We would rather it be deleted altogether or left as Acen wants it , which is the bio we replaced the original article with. User:Acenfacts) (Talk)

for the moment I've deleted and protected the article against recreation, I need to check exactly what action to take about the totally out of order attempt to threaten Wikipedia, but I'm out all day, so this is a holding action to halt the edit war. Jimfbleak 05:29, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As you are probably aware, User:Chaser has restored the article, and Acenfacts has been advised on a legitimate way forward. If the text dumps continue, one of us will block him from editing. However, please also bear in mind that words like "garbage" are not likely to improve the situation. Jimfbleak 06:53, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Acen Razvi

[edit]

Please post the reference to Acen's real name , this will at least resolve one issue ( which is incorrect , especially since Wikipedia is supposedly based on fact ) We will then take it up with Guinness , If this is the case. On the other hand - we are satisfied that the Appleheads entry has been erased. Please understand that an Artist such as Acen, has the right to defend the misleading representation that has appeared in this case & Wikipedia should maintain its integrity by insuring its fact based knowledge is, indeed so. Typing 'Acen Razvi' into a google search, throws up the Wikipedia article 2nd from the top result - this is therefore damaging to Acen's profile entirely. We will work on an alternate write up shortly & understand that we do not want any ill will with Wikipedia & its public forum but im sure, incorrect entries of this kind shouldn't be a problem for Wikipedia to resolve. Thanks. Daimen Wilcox: Bucks Music Publishing. (Acenfacts 10:22, 9 July 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Acen Razvi

[edit]

Likewise to your ' misrepresentation ' comment - we don't understand how the article we replaced it with is not appropriate  ? Maybe you could send us a list of 'Q's , which I will get answered direct from Acen - maybe this will help resolve any misinformation & help us understand how the facts/info on Acen Razvi should appear on Wikipedia. We would be happy to help.

Btw "misrepresent" in dictionary : misreport, misquote, quote/take out of context, misinterpret, put a spin on, skew, warp, falsify, distort, misstate, exaggerate. In other words ' to misrepresent ' we mean to 'falsify' from unofficial & unconfirmed sources Thanks : Daimen (Acenfacts 12:04, 9 July 2007 (UTC))[reply]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Stempelkissen, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:LTBCYB.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:LTBCYB.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you for uploading Image:No Limit file.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. AfD nomination of DJ Dougal

An editor has nominated DJ Dougal, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DJ Dougal and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 16:59, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London

[edit]
Wikimedia UK logo
Wikimedia UK logo

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

I have nominated Jackiey Budden, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jackiey Budden (2nd nomination). London Wikimedia Fundraiser

[edit]

Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.

Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 00:03, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List of number-one dance hits from the 2000s

[edit]

Hi there Technohead. I've noticed that a few years ago you created some articles that listed which were the number-one dance hits in the UK for the years 2000–2006, which is great, 'cos obviously we were missing them. But I was just wondering what your sources were – I've been comparing the lists to some web archive crawls of Radio 1's dance chart page, and some of them are showing different results. For example, this page suggests that "Do You Really Like It?" was number-one the week after "Up Middle Finger", but the Wikipedia article currently says that it was number-one the week after "You Are Alive", and that "Up Middle Finger" was never number-one at all. I'm not doubting the accuracy of what you've put, I was just curious as to what your source was. Thanks very much. A Thousand Doors (talk) 14:57, 24 March 2011 (UTC) [reply]

Hello again Technohead. I've had a look through the histories of the lists of number-one dance hits from the 2000s, and, from what I can tell, what you originally put back in 2006 is the correct list. Sorry for doubting you. From the looks of things, during July of last year, a group of anonymous IPs (presumably all the same person) went through the lists and, for no apparent reason, changed a whole bunch of the entries so that they were completely different. It really is quite bizarre... Well, I've gone through and reverted them to what you had originally put. Hopefully they should now match the archive crawls of Radio 1's Dance Chart, although I've not had the chance to check them all yet. A Thousand Doors (talk)

The article Sarah Phillips has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hi. When you recently edited List of UK Indie Chart number-one singles of 2012, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Someone Like You (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A tag has been placed on Digital Dog, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hello. A tag has been placed on Hannah Wants requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. 2 Unlimited

[edit]

I modified this line on the No Limits page to refer to the single releases rather than the album itself: "As their British record company PWL were dissatisfied with Ray Slijngaard's raps, the British version of this album replaced most of the raps with instrumental parts."

I find this misleading, since it only takes a purchase of the UK CD of the album to do such (I haven't). Also, the UK 7" issues for Tribal Dance and Faces had the regular "rap" mixes as the B-sides, and the final two singles (Maximum Overdrive and Let The Beat Control Your Body) were issued with the rap sections unaltered on the "Radio Edit" tracks.

Maybe it is referring to Get Ready, which was issued in a messy configuration in the UK? --TapLover (talk) 20:42, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I forgot this, but I believe the sources used for that line referred to "No Limit" only, specifically the "Techno, techno, techno, techno" part found in the UK single edit. Maybe you'll understand better now --TapLover (talk) 20:45, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What you've said isn't true. The UK version of the No Limits album had all the raps removed and for the reason that Pete Waterman thought Ray couldn't rap. Technohead1980 (talk) 13:59, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
