WikiProject Human spaceflight activity

Hello there! As part of an effort to determine how many active editors are present in the spaceflight-related WikiProjects, I have made some changes to the list of members of WikiProject Human spaceflight. If you still consider yourself to be an active editor in this project, I would be grateful if you would please edit the list so that your name is not struck out - thus a clearer idea of the critical mass of editors can be determined. Many thanks in advance!

WikiProject Indian roads

Hi,

Please see the message at WikiProject Indian roads subject "Madhya Pradesh State Highway Shields" and please mark your comments --naveenpf (talk) 03:32, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Hello WikiProject Space member! A discussion has been started regarding the future of WikiProject Space here; any comments you might have would be welcome! There are mainly two competing ideas:

  1. Centralize all the Space-related WikiProjects, such as Astronomy and Spaceflight, and merge them into WikiProject Space, or
  2. Separate the Astronomy and Spaceflight "sides" of WikiProject, and remove WikiProject Space.

If you can think of other options, that's great too. Your contribution to the discussion would be much appreciated. Thanks! :)

Hi, Tatiraju.rishabh, you are graciously extended an invitation to join the International Highways WikiProject and its new regional taskforces! The Highways WikiProject is an evolving and expanding WikiProject. We are a group of editors who are dedicated to creating, revising, and expanding articles, lists, categories, and Wikiprojects, or anything related to International Roads. This includes supporting existing regional road WikiProjects and fostering the development of new international highway WikiProjects. We have recently created five regional task forces focused on Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and Latin America.

To improve road and highway articles, here are guidelines for B class criteria. Please add any higher GA, FA quality articles to the international roads portal. Also, please help out by inviting new or unfamiliar editors with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Highways/New articles/Invite template.

We look forward to welcoming you to the project!

WikiProject Spaceflight reboot

Hello there! As you may or may not be aware, a recent discussion on the future of the Space-related WikiProjects has concluded, leading to the abolition of WP:SPACE and leading to a major reorganisation of WP:SPACEFLIGHT. It would be much appreciated if you would like to participate in the various ongoing discussions at the reorganisation page and the WikiProject Spaceflight talk page. If you are a member of one of WP:SPACEFLIGHT's child projects but not WP:SPACEFLIGHT itself, it would also be very useful if you could please add your name to the member list here. Many thanks!

Asteroids rating as stubs

I think many asteroids shouldn't be labeled as stubs since in many cases they contain within the template and a couple of paragraphs virtually every info known (or relevant) about that particular asteroid. And for the many that also have proper citations i don't see why they should be labeled as the lowest level of article when many in fact are quite complete. In any case that's just my opinion, i hope to hear yours--Macarenses (talk) 11:03, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Very well said. I agree. Rishabh Tatiraju (talk) 10:12, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Strongest Storm in the NIO Basin

Sorry for the late reply, Typhoon gay formed in the Pacific ocean and was official named Gay by the JMA. When Gay entered into the Bay of Bangal, it was monitored as Cyclone Gay by the IMD. The pressure of cyclone seems to have been monitored by the JMA so it is unofficial as long as it is in the Indian ocean. Typhoon gay article itself mentions that the lowest pressure is an Unofficial estimate. So, we cant judge weather it is the strongest storm or not. --Anirudh Emani (talk) 08:59, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Cyclone yemyin

Since you are from india....I just want to know why did not your Indian Met office give name to Cyclone Yemyin??? Why were they giving false info about it??? Was it because it was striking Pakistan??? Shocking news at http://www.wunderground.com/blog/MargieKieper/comment.html?entrynum=174&tstamp=200706 HunterZone (talk) 09:50, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

The PMD referred to the deep depression as Tropical Cyclone Yemyin, the next name on the list at the time. The IMD did not operationally name the system, but the depression was upgraded to a cyclonic storm in post-analysis, and the IMD retroactively named it Yemyin.

I think that there was a mistake in identifying the storm's intensity. RSMC New Delhi only names systems that have attained cyclone intensity.

And also that the India-Pakistan issue is very sensitive issue. Until given a proper reason, neither of the govts. should be blamed. Rishabh Tatiraju (talk) 10:51, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Accoring to PMD, Yemyin had 80 mph winds before landfall..any way thankz..HunterZone (talk) 11:16, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Noted. Well, ill try my best to be till dinner, because i live a little far from Atur Center, and i get my last PMT bus by 9:15 PM. Rishabh Tatiraju (talk) 17:29, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Good catch on File:Samsung e250.jpg! However, please note the following:

  • An article that you tag for speedy deletion does not need to have a deletion discussion opened unless an admin or an uninvolved editor contests the speedy deletion.
  • Notwithstanding the above, the Articles for deletion process is for articles only, not files, redirects, templates, etc. For a complete list of the different deletion discussion forums, see WP:XFD.
  • Files and text that are exact copies from other websites qualify as copyright infringement and unless there is a clean, non copyright violation version to revert to, these can be deleted under speedy deletion criterion G12.

Thanks again for the catch, and happy editing! —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:06, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Rishabh, its a great idea. Go ahead. You can add last meetup's notes on it to begin with. Nice to know you have computer access again. Blogs need to be maintained, don't forget! They are like pets, need regular loving care. :) AshLin (talk) 12:42, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Regarding Puneri Blog....

Hey Rishabh thanks a lot for keeping me informed about the blog. Well the blog looks cool, Some suggestions from me.

1. If possible can we have a proper logo for Wikipuneri blog. (Need not be official.

2. The pics which you uploaded are good, do you have some more and i think those pics should be only in the gallery tab.

3. Can you just give a brief about the meetups as to what they are and also somethings about the previous meetups in the MEETUP tab. May be you can also write some minutes of the previous meetups.

4. Also in the contact tab we need to put a Contact Form so that we are updated about the comments.

5. A link to the wikipedia meetup pune page. i.e http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Pune would look good to keep them informed.

I think thats all for now, will suggest more as when i remember.

These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on AlertPay requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. VQuakr (talk) 19:04, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited AlertPay, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page French (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

File:Tropical Cyclone Average Track worldwide.svg

Hey, I was wondering where you got the data for this map, as it is highly misleading. For starters, most Pacific hurricanes move out to sea (very few make landfall), most Atlantic storms move through Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico (few go as far north as the northern of the two lines represent), there are four lines for the north Indian Ocean (even though that is the least active basin on the planet), and the South Pacific storms seem to originate north of the equator. I removed the image for those reasons. Cheers ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:41, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Cool! Well, you should try and keep it somewhat proportional as far as the lines. Why should NIO have four lines but the EPAC only one, even though the EPAC has twice the activity. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 16:53, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
I still don't get, why are there four lines in the northern Indian Ocean? I understand NIO had four lines, but that's because that's the nearby basin. For a worldwide article, every basin should be properly represented. I'm just curious, how come you want to add it in the first place? Given that every TC has a unique track, I'm wondering why you really want to add it in. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:39, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
I'm curious what your rhyme or reason is for the tracks. For example, lots of storms form in the Mozambique Channel or the Gulf of Carpentaria (northern gulf in Australia). Are you solely basing it off of that IMD map? Or something else? Here is a free (PD) version of the map you seem to want. That seems more useful, since it differentiates basins and highlights the equator. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:53, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Yea, check out that link I gave though. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:56, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Well wait, I guess I should be asking, why are you making a map when a perfectly free image is available? --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:33, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
What do you mean "recreate"? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:57, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Why don't you just upload the NOAA map then? --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 13:17, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
This is plenty big! It doesn't need to be that big for an image on the side of an article. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 05:21, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Hurricanehink the details need to be correct though since TC's can and do form to the East of Fiji ie within the Western Hemisphere. In fact for obvious reasons, I would suggest that the gap between hemispheres in that map gets placed within the Atlantic just west of Africa.Jason Rees (talk) 17:02, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
But you can't possibly include where every possible data point for tropical cyclones are. For however many storms there are east of Fiji in the western Hemisphere, I'd bet there are as many, if not more, that form in the northeastern Atlantic near the Azores, and yet that would be highly misleading to include that as a common area of formation. The NOAA map is just a generic map to show in general where the basins are and where the storms generally go. It is a good map. If people want more detail, they can see the map Nilfanion made where it has every single data point for every tropical cyclone on record. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:25, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
