Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 18:05, 23 May 2018 (UTC)

Nomination of Tanya Lattner for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Tanya Lattner is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tanya Lattner until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Ich (talk) 22:52, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Tanya Lattner.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Tanya Lattner.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 23:19, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

cc0? I'd contribute less
[edit]Re: Your comment and some replies on WP:Village pump (WMF)#Licensing: I would have very little problem with my clerical edits being cc0, but if I'm going to take the time to create real content, or radically rewrite content to get it up to GA or FA status, I usually won't want someone claiming it as if it were their own. The same goes for most images that I upload.
No, if Wikipedia went cc0, it would no doubt be forked and I would go to the fork that had something like the current license when making non-clerical contributions.
That's not to say I would NEVER release "hard work" under cc0, it's just that it would be the exception, not the rule. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 18:49, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
- I see your point in authorship credit and against the work being claimed by other person. However, in practice most don't care to even properly credit Wikipedia unless they're a major corporation or big project like MusicBrainz, and in no way crediting its major contributors by that time. Even Wikipedia doesn't care: when an user request the citation functionality it inserts as author "Author: Wikipedia contributors", it is not even "Contributors of Wikipedia" (i understand the former syntax is more used in American English, still...).
- The strongest argument against public domain is exactly the reason copyleft was born. Still, I ultimately believe knowledge (in this case text) made on a Wiki like Wikipedia shall be public domain.
- Just to make it clear: my arguments were for the text, not image and media in general.
- Thanks for your viewpoints.

CC0?
[edit]Could you please explain what you mean by the note at your user page which says "I want to make clear all my work is public domain under CC0, even though Wikipedia is copylefting it. For example, see my Shizuka wiki repository"? Are you trying to CC0 copyright your Wikipedia article edits at that Shizuka gitlab repository before you actually make those edits here on en-wiki? Thanks, Nsk92 (talk) 23:18, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi TRANSviada, I just want to point out the existence of the {{CC0 Release}} template which some users put on their userpages, in case you would like to use it as a clearer explanation of copyright release. --Yair rand (talk) 06:34, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Yair rand: It's unclear to me how this CC0 Release tag could override the m:Wikimedia:Terms of Use which explicitly says that all WP users agree that all their WP text contributions are licensed under CC-BY-SA and GDFL. Nsk92 (talk) 07:18, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Nsk92: There is no problem with simultaneously licensing one's own edits under additional licenses beyond those required. People can license their own works under however many licenses they like, but those must include CC-BY-SA/GFDL to be included on Wikipedia. --Yair rand (talk) 07:23, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hmm, Ok, thanks. Sounds pretty strange to me as CC-BY-SA and CC0 licenses don't seem to be compatible. I don't really understand how something can be simultaneously licensed under both. Nsk92 (talk) 07:27, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

- @Yair rand: Thanks for the heads up! Just put it on my user page. Still, I think it's needed some official statement from Wikimedia on the legitimacy of this. talk@TRANSviada 05:57, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Yair rand: Oh alright, just saw WP:DUAL is a thing. In this case it would be easier to just mirror the Wikipedia articles, I think. talk@TRANSviada 06:05, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

- @Nsk92: Yes. For example, Shizuka is going to have new releases, I'd appreciate the text being adapted or verbatim used on the the booklets, etc without the bother to have giving credit. I myself hate when I need to credit. Also, I plan to host MediaWiki for my Shizuka related projects, and under CC0, and don't want to bother with copyleft. All I do for Shizuka is pure love. Creating that repository was kind easy and it's a bliss to manage it with Emacs, magit, and mediawiki.el. I'm familiar with dual/n-licensing in software licensing, but wasn't aware this was a thing on Wikipedia. And I'd also need some official statement on the legitimacy of this. Some editors call me a time-sink as if it was a valid argument for closing that discussion, but I just have little time to actually edit Wikipedia. I study, work all day, and have to take care of myself after all. talk@TRANSviada 05:47, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
The file File:Shizuka (2001).png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non controversial deletion of non-free image that's not being used for Shizuka Miura anymore.
file:Shizuka Miura.png
is being use instead now.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Shizuka (2001).png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Shizuka (2001).png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:59, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Speedy deletion nomination of Shizuka/Section/Discography
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Shizuka/Section/Discography requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
