[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Circular law has been reverted.
Your edit here to Circular law was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://terrytao.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/matrix-book.pdf.) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. context
[edit]Hello.
Please note that something like this is not a good initial sentence of a Wikipedia article:
- The circular law is a natural generalization of a result of Eugene Wigner.
That leaves the lay reader not knowing whether the article is about jurisprudence, sociology, chemistry, theology, internal medicine, TV broadcasting, etc.
I added the words "In probability theory, ". Something like "In functional analysis...." doesn't do the job, since the lay reader hasn't heard of that unless it's from reading about psychology, in which functional analysis is not mathematics. But "In geometry,..." or "In number theory,..." or the like is enough. This isn't necessary in cases in which the article's title already gives that information. — Bilorv(talk)(c)(e) 11:14, 5 August 2016 (UTC)- I'd like to add to the automated message above by saying that I have made a few changes to the article—mostly notably by adding the "Largest known ranks" section. I'm not really familiar with the subject matter so if you want to look through my changes and see if I made any glaring mistakes, that would be wonderful. My addition of categories (particularly Category:Analytic number theory) might not be perfect, so you are more than welcome to add or remove any categories as you think is appropriate. — Bilorv(talk)(c)(e) 11:17, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
