I will not contest the indef, I am in fact looking for a way to stop myself from contributing here. I had created articles such as People's Park Centre, Sun Plaza (Singapore), Sembawang Shopping Centre, Bedok Point, Sungei Simpang Kiri, all Single handedly. I had expanded Canberra MRT station as my mainspace works. I didn't list those on my user page. In addition, I had participated in AFD and my record now stands at in excess of 90% match using the snortywong tool with 126 pages !Voted, I didn't know that was not understanding AFD rationales. I did 130+ CSD this month alone and seeing my CSD log, it's almost all red except for some. I really shouldn't have returned to WIkipedia English. In good faith, I tried to improve, add onto Singapore, and other countries articles (Such as South Korea). My mainspace contributions all have edit summaries and I did not revert unnecessarily. Just one moment of mistake (or just several mistake) is enough to cause the AN/I and hostility. This is the last straw about why I did posted retirement. Initially, wikibreak is enough or to mainspace, but clearly this is not the Wikipedia I envisioned over in 2007. I will not bother to contribute any further with such hostility and trying to take any user down with warnings. This is not collaboraton. This will be the very last post here. Please do not delete this and one more good standing Singaporean Wikipedian down. I will continue on and am glad with the end of this stressful return. And I hope no one else will add anything below this notice, this is my last request. Also I will hope this talkpage is permanently protected as well as I don't mind "cannot edit talkpage". For those I had helping in AFC, sorry I can't but good guidances are found in the notes on that page. For those who worked with me, I thank all of you. Washing my hands here!--Quek157 (talk) 09:52, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- update:seen the AN. I am not going to care with any restricted editing. Why subject myself to all these. CIR I agree, education is needed only. AFD nomination one wrongly will lead to these. I cannot fathom. never mind, forgive and forget. I find verbose arguments from some , I heard you already, no use keep on pulling all the points. Treating someone poorly and then wanting people to contribute, it's hard. no backend work with only front-end, is like paying income taxes without the right to vote. At the very most it is a CIR block 1 month not indef but seeing how immature people are and this absolute lack of collaboration which is here, I rather it being indef. I totally agree this block is unwarranted and thanks for much to speak up for me the few, this will lead to the downfall of any projects. I sincerely hope the community can get standards up together and return to a collaborative style of Wikipedia or else this will fall. Delete this or not you may please, but don't be a frog in burning waters that is too late. I'm an admin somewhere else with comparable workload also, admins are just mops. I block people, I ban people too for advertising and disruption and many appealed by messaging me, and I absolutely hate it as my mind is set and in my perception, the threshold was reach. typically I reject such appeals. Different here is that these are peoples I will meet real life and I will have to face them face to face, so I had to be careful with statements. Reciprocally, I'll not be here appealing. Don't need, if you don't want me to be here, I don't linger around. wish this project the best. A war zone and place without equal standards, no way I stay Quek157 (talk) 08:43, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
Famous phrase
[edit]"It's no wonder Wikipedia has such a huge attrition of new editors. Most people are not accustomed to taking abuse, and if they do get abuse in their daily life, they're even less inclined to want more of it by editing Wikipedia. For example, very few women I know would want to edit Wikipedia if they heard about the barrage of insults one has to put up with." exactly what I meant and feel right now. haha Quek157 (talk) 08:57, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for support for the block
[edit]@Serial Number 54129, John Cline, Godsy, and Legacypac:, thanks for voicing out for me. For the record, I thank you for this. I emailed Tony this morning for this unblock offer and placed a unblock request:
- "hi, just to end the entire facare, sorry for adding retirement tags I'm proposing this. 1 year topic ban from nominating deletion any kind. afd restricted to voting with policies, e.g no per norm. 1 year topic ban on all namespaces except mainspace user Wikipedia projects and etc. 6 months no AFC reviews . Indef topic ban from AN. broadly constructed. For your consideration if against any then indef based on not here. no deletion of talk page "
- His reply was "This block is currently being discussed at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard#Block_review_of_Quek157. I oppose this unblock and would suggest to them that they can appeal to the community in no less than 6 months in light of what looks to be the apparent consensus there that it was a good block"
- So I will think that's it. They seems to still insist that it was a 'good block' and there is 'apparent consensus'. I will not contest this indef anyway just wanting to end the discussion at AN. With administrators acting like this, there is no need why I have to stay. I thank all your advices and company along this way. I particularly liked how Serial Number 54129 interacted with me, and please go and transclude your Rfa. We need good, sensible administrators like you who is able to rise above the clouds to see the light. To quote you at Tony talkpage, "Ah well; them's the breaks @en.wp...". Yes, I wholeheartedly concur. This is how broken Wikipedia now is as compared to the past. I hope that good contributors can continue here and hope more can offer ropes rather than stripes.
