Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in History of Burma, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Tbhotch.™ Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! Removal of content
Hello Randor1980, and welcome to wikipedia.
I see you have recently reverted one of my edits at Typhoon Talas (2011) even though i mentioned i will present a reference to the work soon.
You have removed the line:
On September 1, Talas developed a large annulus of nearly 110 nautical miles (200 km; 130 mi) in diameter with multiple weak circulations cyclonically rotating around a centroid within the center. Fragmented deep convective banding broadly wrapped the low-level circulation center with an upper-level cyclone over the center and anticyclonic flow around the periphery of the storm.
Can you give me a valid reason for the action. I have put back the line and with a reference i promise. Could you consider explaining me why the line was removed? --Anirudh Emani (talk) 15:48, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to 2011 Delhi bombing, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. Karthik Nadar (talk) 12:40, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to 2011 Delhi bombing. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Karthik Nadar (talk) 12:52, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
National varieties of English
Concerning which national variety of English to use (e.g. United States English, British English, Australian English, etc) Wikipedia's manual of style indicates that we should use a particular variety in some situations (for example, in an article such as Abraham Lincoln, it makes sense to use US English, and in Winston Churchill British English), but otherwise no particular style is to be preferred. In general if a particular article has been established with a particular style of English then that style should not be replaced by another unless there is a specific reason to do so. I mention this because I have noticed a couple of recent edits where you have changed British English to US English, including one case where the text was specifically referring to the United Kingdom, so that the use of US English was certainly inappropriate. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed your recent edit to April 2012 Aceh earthquake does not have an edit summary. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Thanks! SupernovaExplosion Talk 11:13, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Please be careful when editing pages simultaneously with others. My addition to the earthquake article was just removed for the third time because of your edits: [1]. I'm getting tired of doing it over and over again. —ZeroOne (talk / @) 11:14, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Capitalization
I noticed you recently capitalized the word department on the 2012 Indian Ocean earthquake page. I checked the Manual of Style on Capitalization and could not find a relevant example. Can you explain why you capitalized it?
- Because the word "department" is part of the name in Department of Meteorology in Sri Lanka.
- But the reference is not to the specific department name but to departments in general. So it not a Proper noun but a Common noun which we don't capitalize. It would be like capitalizing all references to the river on the Amazon River or Nile River articles, would it not? What about references to the bay on the Bay of Bengal, should they all be capitals? I notice on the United States Department of Homeland Security page that department is not capitalized when not specifically referring to the full title. - Shiftchange (talk) 20:54, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Congo
Why are you removing the news I inserted twice?--Reader1987 (talk) 07:25, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- Because it's not in your own words, you've simply copied and pasted from the Al Jazeera website. Please rewrite it in your own words in the present tense in the May 18, 2012 portal. Please read this on Wikipedia's policy on copying and pasting if you don't understand copying and pasting from a copyright source is plagiarism, and take notice where it says "Copyright violations are often speedily deleted." Katsuya Takahashi arrest
The stuff you wrote above is good, but why did you use the exact sentences of BBC in regard to arrests in Japan on 15 June 2012 (here). Then, as you stated above, copying and pasting from a copyright source is plagiarism. Egeymi (talk) 13:26, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- What exact sentences? Although the piece I wrote is similar to the BBC article, it is not a duplicate of what the BBC has written, and to my understanding, it is not plagiarism:
- BBC article: Police in Japan have arrested the last fugitive of the Aum Shinrikyo doomsday cult, ending a 17-year manhunt./Katsuya Takahashi is suspected of involvement in the 1995 sarin nerve gas attack on the Tokyo subway system that killed 13 people.
- What I wrote: Police in Japan arrest Katsuya Takahashi of the Aum Shinrikyo cult, the last fugitive wanted over the March 1995 sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway that killed 13 people.
- ^ They don't look like exact sentences to me. If you think I have copied and pasted or plagiarised in any way, by all means rewrite the piece on Katsuya Takahashi's arrest.
- PS: The user above had copied and pasted straight from an Al Jazeera story on fighting in the DRC in May without bothering to make an attempt to rewrite it in his own words. That was PLAGIARISING from a copyright source. Randor1980 (talk) 14:45, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
- Your PS is very odd, but is defined as projection. You project your own act on me. Egeymi (talk) 16:53, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

2012 Empire State Building Shooting
Sorry for removing your reference, but I saw nothing in it about explosive devices in a trash can? Nor a mention of ABC News? Thanks MusikAnimal (talk) 16:07, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
- I didn't write that, about the explosives in the trash cans. The only edits I did were minor edits like tidying up the infobox, but didn't write anything about any explosives, nor have I heard anything about it. You were probably right in removing it. Randor1980 (talk) 16:17, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
- Gotcha, guess a conflicting edit put it back once I removed it. I took it out again. Thanks MusikAnimal (talk) 16:28, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
I quote: "Good red links help Wikipedia—they encourage new contributors in useful directions, and remind us that Wikipedia is far from finished." Red links are not OK if it is unlikely to ever turn blue, but that is not the case here. An alleged commander of an armed wing of the Kurdistan Workers Party is most likely a notable person. In addition, please don't make such edits without explaining why you do it: you've been asked many times before on this talk page to use edit summaries. Thank you. Location map - 2013 Thane Building Collapse
Hi Randor, The location map in the 2013 Thane building collapse article looks great!
I'm just wondering, because I don't know: I looked up the Laxmi Compound on google maps which has the coordinates as 19.203974,73.009284, which are slightly different for the location on the map in the article. Do you know which one is right?--CaroleHenson (talk) 14:19, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- Yikes, The Hindu article states that the building was in Shil Phata. If your location was a central point in Mumbra - or if you figured out the correct location, that's good.--CaroleHenson (talk) 14:52, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry... just for grins I compared the satellite map images of the Shil Phata area (19.144357,73.043522) in Mumbra to the photos taken of the collapsed building. It looks like the location is in the Shil Phata area - maybe there's a local interprettation of what Laxmi compound means. This also seems like a location more suited to the hundreds of buildings said in the Hindu to have gone up in the Shil Phata area - and more closely looks like a "forested" area. What do you think?--CaroleHenson (talk) 15:03, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
