Category:Food retailers of Tunisia, etc
[edit]Hi, I see that you set up Category:Food retailers of Tunisia and several others like it, but it's not clear from your contribs whether you ever populated them. They are now tagged for deletion as empty (see Category:Empty categories awaiting deletion). – Fayenatic London 10:07, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london: Except for a single list article for each country, I don't think there were any articles to populate the categories with at the time, so if those list articles have been removed or deleted I have no problem with deleting the categories. spiderjerky (talk) 15:54, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
Question
[edit]Hello! I have noticed that you keep changing the templates on the talk pages for Level 5 Vital articles in the "Philosophy and religion" subcategory from saying "[such-and-such article] has been listed as a level-5 vital article in Philosophy and religion" to "[such-and-such article] has been listed as a level-5 vital article in Philosophy." I was wondering why you keep doing this; it does not make any sense at all to me since the title of the section is "Philosophy and religion" and the actual title of the page is Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/5/Philosophy and religion. Why would the template only say "Philosophy"? Furthermore, the templates for Good Articles in the "Philosophy and religion" subcategory all say "[such-and-such article] has been listed as one of the Philosophy and religion good articles under the good article criteria." I do not see why the vitality templates should be any different. I am not angry with you or anything; I am just confused as to why you doing this and would appreciate an explanation. --Katolophyromai (talk) 02:48, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Katolophyromai: I was just changing the categories from Philosophy and religion to Philosophy because that's how the vital articles are classified, I believe. I'm in the process of cleaning out the wanted categories page, and if the category has 'and religion' it doesn't exist, but without it it does. If you know more than me go ahead and do whatever, as long as you put it in categories that actually exist. spiderjerky (talk) 02:52, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
- I do not think I know more than you; it just seemed really bizarre to me that the template should omit such a significant part of the topic. Oh well. Thank you very much for your reply! I really appreciate it. --Katolophyromai (talk) 02:57, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Katolophyromai: Sorry if that sounded rude, didn't mean it like that, stupid text-only communication. It's possible they just haven't finished migrating or something? I based the moves off this precedent. Let me know if there's anything else I can do! spiderjerky (talk) 03:02, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

Shogi vs. shōgi
[edit]I'm not sure if its necessary to change category pages, article titles, etc. from "shogi" to "shōgi", so perhaps you can explain your reason why you feel it is. Shogi is a Japanese word for sure, but it's pretty common these days in publications and websites for it to written without the macron over the "o" or as "shougi". You may find some examples of macron use in older books, articles, or websites, but I think that's more of an exception that the rule these days. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:21, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: Someone had moved the main parent category to shogi with the macron and it was in the non-empty soft redirected category. I mostly did all the changes cuz I was bored in class today, honestly, but I'll revert them if need be. -spiderjerky on mobile
- The person who moved the parent category did so after they change the name of the main article from "Shogi" to "Shōgi". That, however, was a bold change which was perhaps a little too bold and was subsequently undone by another editor who also reverted the change made to the parent category. It probably would be best to revert back to "shogi" until some kind of consensus on the article's name can be reached. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:54, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: There wouldn't happen to be a way to revert all my edits today at once, would there? Because I'm pretty sure I eclipsed 800. Ugh... spiderjerky (talk) 03:01, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I don't know much about the nuts and bolts of scripts or bots since I never use them. The changes will eventually get cleaned up by someone. The best thing at this time, however, is probably to stop making any more similar changes until things are sorted out with parent's article name. The initial page move doesn't appear to have been made as the result of any talk page consensus. Once that has been sorted out, the rest should fall into place per that consensus. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:04, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- Well, if you made 800 edits today I'm sure you can unmake 800 edits tomorrow. Helping to clean this up would be a show of good faith. Quale (talk) 04:47, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Quale: Firm, but fair. I'll hop on that asap. spiderjerky (talk) 05:05, 28 February 2018 (UTC)

Mass moving categories
[edit]Err why are you mass moving categories from 'players' to 'footballers'? The former is standard naming... GiantSnowman 18:46, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- @GiantSnowman: Oh, my bad, I noticed they were different (some footballers, some players) and didn't know it was standard procedure. I'll fix it asap. spiderjerky (talk) 19:03, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Standard is 'players' (see eg Category:Footballers in England by club) for some unknown reason the Spanish-speaking country categories use both and it's a mess to be fair. GiantSnowman 19:06, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- @GiantSnowman: so then would it be a better use of my time to change from footballers to players? or leave it alone because I've done enough damage for one day? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (also thanks for reverting all those for me) spiderjerky (talk) 19:19, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Haha - err I'd suggest for Spain or countries in South America you leave the fragile status quo as it is for now (I'll raise it at WT:FOOTY in due course - but for other countries feel free to change to 'players'... GiantSnowman 08:11, 27 June 2018 (UTC)

- @SportsFan007: Someone changed the category title back to Snapple and it popped back up on Category:Wikipedia non-empty soft redirected categories, so I assumed it was decided to move them back to Snapple for whatever reason. It's early (for me), my brain's pretty much asleep, so I didn't think it through all the way, so I'll change it back. spiderjerky (talk) 13:50, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

I mean you can have the ability and make my articles not to be deleted. Iam somewhat confusing when entering copy link from other websites to wikipedia . Please can u make little better to the external link that I recently put to the article "Creation of Human" that is not in proper place till now. --Afingba Mangang (talk) 19:04, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Afingba Mangang: You mean formatting the references? Sure, I'll see what I can do. I can't promise it'll keep the article from being deleted (in fact, it probably still will be), but it wouldn't hurt to try. One thing I'd recommend is changing the name of the article to something more specific (since Creation of Human is both gramatically wrong and too general, since we have dozens of articles on the subject of creation stories. I would recommend 'Sanamahi creation myth', since it's the same style as the other articles. spiderjerky (talk) 19:15, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

- @Saqib: while I agree more with Storm in that discussion (because you never know when there might be a revolution leading to a new legislative body or whatever), you sound like you know what you're talking about. I'll hop right on that once I finish the 15 tabs I have open. spiderjerky (talk) 13:46, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Saqib: hold up a second. why's the category pointing to 2023, instead of 23? moving issues? spiderjerky (talk) 13:51, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- Well last three assemblies completed their five year term despite political instability so we should be positive. I think. And yes, it should be titled "2018–23". It was mistake on my part. --Saqib (talk) 14:14, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Saqib: Oh yeah I know. I'm just saying you never know if something like that, or if the assembly is dissolved or whatever happens, so I generally support leaving the final year off of those types of categories for any country, but I'm just a gnome so I'll leave the decision-making to people who actually know what they're talking about. Should I move the pages into the 2023 category, or wait for the category to be moved back to 2018-23? spiderjerky (talk) 14:19, 30 July 2018 (UTC)

New category
[edit]You recently created Category:Professional wrestling articles that need to differentiate between fact and fiction however it appears you want this to do the same thing as Category:Pro Wrestling articles written in Kayfabe. - @Galatz: I only created that category because it popped up in Special:WantedCategories, and totally wouldn't have if I knew the kayfabe category existed (about the only thing I know about wrestling are John Cena memes from like 2015). I'll move the article to the preexisting category and db-c1 the one I made. Thanks! spiderjerky (talk) 21:19, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
