File source problem with File:MKAGPDX Japan track.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:MKAGPDX Japan track.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 21:38, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've updated the file with the required information. Soffredo (talk) 21:51, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Your recent editing history at List of popes shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. License tagging for File:Claudette Colvin 1955.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Claudette Colvin 1955.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 05:05, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:THE "NEXT" MGS recruiting poster.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:THE "NEXT" MGS recruiting poster.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:54, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Non-free content

[edit]

I have reverted your edits. Per the guidelines and policies for non-free content, non-free images must not be used for a purely decorative purpose, plus they may only be used on multiple articles when there is a separate rationale for each page that shows why it complies with the non-free content criteria. As such, these images may not be used in that context.

I removed your split template for 2013 North Korean missile tests, since there's no consensus for such a move and I don't feel like they're notable (I've been in Asia, and nobody really cares). If you want, can you take it (and the status/date of the end of the crisis as well) to the talk page? I don't have a lot of time at the moment, so I'd prefer not to start it. [edit]

Could you visit Talk:2013 Korean crisis#Stop edit warring - please come here to discuss! and make clear why you believe the crisis is over and why the end date is May 7? Thanks, Ansh666 03:40, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I redirected the above template to Template:Crystal, as any kind of "upcoming XYZ" template has been deprecated years ago. See the Request for Comment at Wikipedia:Centralized_discussion/Deprecating_"Future"_templates for more details. If you don't mind, I'll go ahead and revert the addition of the template to the articles. --Conti| 00:53, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Peggle 2

[edit]

It is best to avoid creating new articles when the only detail is that it was announced. There may be more about Peggle 2 over this week, but for all we know, its coming, and that can be summarized in the Peggle article. --MASEM (t) 03:12, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Template:Upcoming game, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. ViperSnake151  Talk  03:37, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

These types of templates were deprecated and deleted per a discussion. Consensus indicates that these are merely disclaimers, which we do not allow in articles. ViperSnake151  Talk  03:41, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New signature --> [Soffredo] 19:28, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Heya Soffredo, if you want here's a better way to format your signature without using <nowiki>. Basically it just replaces brackets with their unicode variant which basically tells wikipedia to just display the brackets and nothing else. It will display the exact same way though. If you copy the code line below be sure to remove the . between the & and # symbols.
  • My reformatted version (code) = '''<span style="color:#4169E1;"><big>[[User talk:Soffredo|&.#91;]]</big>[[User:Soffredo|Soffredo]]<big>[[User talk:Soffredo|&.#93;]]</big></span>'''
  • My reformatted version (visual) = [Soffredo]
If you ever want/need help with signature stuff feel free to ask, I enjoy this sort of stuff lol. Anywho, Cheers. — -dainomite   19:00, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Heh! Thanks for adding the extra reference.

I have converted it to use the {{cite}} template and sent it for archiving.

References with title, author, publisher and date are much more useful to readers than a bare URL. The {{cite}} template provides a simple way to add that extra information. Archiving the page also preserves a separate copy just in case the original URL stops working. -- 79.67.240.247 (talk) 11:50, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Moving pages improperly

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Snowden a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 00:08, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gray

[edit]

Regarding this edit, why do you believe it is useful to highlight the word "gray" in the color gray? No reader is going confuse gray with another color. It doesn't serve any purpose other than aesthetics. Also, the Manual of Style discourages manually colored text. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 03:43, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.

Please stop labeling Cook Islands and Niue as sovereign states. As you are well aware, there has been extensive discussion about this, and the consensus is that calling Cook Islands and Niue "sovereign" is contentions. As per WP:DUE, we need to accurately reflect what sources say, and there is certainly no consensus amount sources on this matter. If you disagree, then start a discussion on the talk page. But further edit warring against WP:CONSENSUS will likely result in you being blocked from editing. TDL (talk) 00:53, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Middle East

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Template:Middle East.

Frietjes (talk) 23:09, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Government shutdown

[edit]

Do not change the start date of the current shutdown to October 1st. That column represents the last full date before the government shutdown, hence (exclusive) in the column title. Unless you move every date in that column forward one day (which should probably be discussed on the talk page first) do not change it to October 1st. Also, leave the date in the counting template as September 30th for the same reason, as it should count the number of days in the current shutdown. However, I am not a big fan of the automated template anyway. See the article talk page for that. Smartyllama (talk) 13:36, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Opting in to VisualEditor

[edit]

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 100 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 18:28, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Flag of Anonymous.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Flag of Anonymous.jpeg, which you've attributed to https://twitter.com/YourAnonNews. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 03:46, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Same-sex marriage in the United States Enactment of marriage laws (table)

[edit]

Hello, I noticed you for some reason labeled California the 6th state not the second. This is chronologically inaccurate in every aspect as CA was the second state to legalize SSM. What happened afterwards did not make In re Marriage Cases go away. It was unconstitutionally suppressed due to Prop 8 and the time involved in litigation, but that does not change the fact that it was the 2nd state to perform SSM. I have re-numbered the table to accurately represent CA as #2, with a - to represent the line referring to the Perry case. Please do not revert my fix. Thanks! (Please direct all responses to Talk:Same-sex_marriage_in_the_United_States#California_2nd_not_6th) Thegreyanomaly (talk) 23:28, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at List of current heads of state and government shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war.

TDL (talk) 17:49, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  Drmies (talk) 00:39, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia and the articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits, as you did to MineCon. Readers looking for accurate information will not find them amusing. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you are given a good deal of freedom in what you write. [edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bangsamoro declarations of independence, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bangsamoro (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

National Christmas Tree edits to lead

[edit]

Why do you believe it's critical information to revise the lead of National Christmas Tree to include minor information about the states, D.C., territories and commonwealth trees? I doubt it is. The lead contains general information, and the information you've added is far too narrow. Additionally, the way you added the information is not grammatically correct, as numbers that start sentences must be spelled out. The article uses a style in which numbers between zero and nine are spelled out rather than listed numberically. - Tim1965 (talk) 17:11, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
