Thank you for your contribution. Actuallly I was going to remove the "warning" to Damiens.fr. But honestly there is a real problem with this guy. He seems to know about how to manipulate Wikipedia and creates a lot a vandalism activity with the only objective of having articles related to skiing in Lebanon deleted. We all have the same problem with Damiens.rf It looks to be good faith but there is something weired. Sock puppetry

I was trying to defend some of the ugly edits made by guys on related article. Due to time limitations i was unable to read the rules of sock puppetry and had to multiple re-edits. After going through rules i feel very happy that i can make my complaints against vandalism directly to the wiki instead indulging in war on re-edits. Thanks for making me realize this.

SSP

It is not necessary for you to reprimand me because you do not agree that the evidence of an SSP is overwhelmingly obvious. I resent the implication that the case is frivolous and nothing more than a weak attempt to block someone. If you believe there is a sock then block it otherwise leave it alone, either way I do not need to hear from you. You and Jaysweet both seem to think that there is probably some sock activity there. Jay's first impression was that 'it was hard to swallow'. I agree, it does look ridiculous. Do you have any idea how hard it is to try and convince someone that there was a sock created to frame you, and I have to use diffs to do it? It is not as easy as you might think. Can you imagine how it felt when I saw that someone was willing to go to those lenghts to try and get me blocked? It was a disturbing experience. All I am trying to do is contribute and all I get is reverted recklessly. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47,48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55,56, 57. These are by Baseball Card Guy. A number of these show that he has reverted back to incorrect information or removed valid info. This is not proper editing. He is just targeting me. Sorry for all the diffs but the truth is that there are plenty more that show items that are not discussed or are not verifiable. How many diffs from talk pages are you going to need to prove that I have tried to get him to address relevant issues regarding notability, verifiability, and image policies, etc.? Haven't you asked him to do this as well? I wonder what kind of person has the time to waste my time and monitor me constantly. Anyway I have asked that the case be reopened because I wasn't joking when I said 'further disruption will result in a disciplinary report and any sock evidence will be posted'. I'm not sure what you mean by that. Baseball Card Guy and Libro0

As someone who has had problems with Libro0 after having him accuse me of being Baseball Card Guy's sockpuppet after trying to get the two of them to stop their schoolyard bickering, I have been watching the two. Their recent exchanges at Talk:1950s Topps and Talk:1960s Topps show that they both seem to have some ownership issues and the two of them can't seem to have a any sort of proper discussion. My attempts to contact both of them in the past were rebuffed in the case of Baseball Card Guy and resulted in attacks from Libro0 including two unproven sockpuppet allegations, with me keeping an eye on what he is doing to nip any further false allegations in the bud. This ultimatum/thinly veiled sockpuppet allegation [1] [2] that Libro0 is a prime example of the bad faith on his part. On the other hand Baseball Card Guy is trying to bait Libro0 [3] with a trap [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] using Admiral Ackbar as the edit summary for all those.

I have held off doing any editing of the baseball card articles because of the antics of these two. I have wasted enough time energy and effort here dealing with the petty bickering between these two and have had enough of it. Something needs to be done with both of them before there is any further escalation. How many others have they scared off into editing not wanting to get caught up in their little war?

Hi. Most of the comments in that nomination for deletion were not good arguments, such as "hoax", and "it is just a rock". I had nominated the page itself for deletion because the redirect is misleading and it would be better just to leave the page blank and the link red. I don't know, it's probably not worth doing, as to remove edits the page has to be deleted then restored, and the page has a long history (almost 2,000 edits, not sure if that is enough to cause any problems). Although the automatic edit summaries for the vandalism are offensive, and similar disruptive summaries have been removed from articles before. I've never seen duplicate reverts like that, how did it happen? --Snigbrook (talk) 20:14, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Both Lupins anti-vandal tool and regular rollback. Both seem to be doing that and it must be some sort of unluckiness or internal server error. I think I've already tried what I could: I went over all the browser cache bypasses, playing around with my js apps, and testing edits on the sandboxes. I guess I should contact village pump soon. First, thank you for your edits. I take it that you are a common user who is familiar with this. I am a new user whose sources of updated information came from interviews shared with the public by Ray Parker, Jr. His original page sadly lacked updates as any musician should receive when new information becomes public so in gathering information about him and attempting to stay within Wikipedia guidelines, I have sources that I placed in however, there are still the warnings.   • The edits I reverted were obviously not constructive (and are a type of vandalism), and were not a content dispute. They were also by an obvious sockpuppet of an indef blocked user, and these are usually treated the same as banned users i.e. 3RR does not apply when reverting them (there is no need for the user to have a {{banned}} tag, or be on the list of banned users, particularly when it's clear that nobody would unblock the user). Despite this, and WP:IAR ("If a rule prevents you from improving or maintaining Wikipedia, ignore it"), I stopped at three reverts, leaving the spam on the page the fourth time it was added. --Snigbrook (talk) 00:06, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

I have removed the above report. While all efforts in maintaining the encyclopedia are appreciated, adherence to the guidelines will usually result in appropriate action being taken. In this matter the editor was not warned, and the "vandalism" was not so obviously blatent to warrant a block - indeed, a question was asked whether it is vandalism or not. WP:ANI may have been a more appropriate venue to consider, where the circumstances might be better explained. About my "disruptive edit"

i don't think you fully understand the nature of Brian Peppers. You people delete anything that has to do with him. That's just wrong. His name is blocked from an article being made on him. That's wrong. He is a real person and he doesn't deserve this kind of treatment, being shunned and thrown aside by people like you. We need to get his story out.

Who made this consensus? Nonsense you say? As I said before you don't know the true nature of Brian. This is his story. What I put on that page WAS his story. Every word was true and I've spent months researching. I wanted to give curious people information on the mysterious man known as Brian J. Peppers but people like you and other wikipedia mods just don't want the truth of Brian. You shun him like all the others.

  • It was indeed a hoax, and I have taken it to AfD here. My researches led me to check the book Austerity in Britain which is cited as a source for Rationing in the United Kingdom, and that confirmed, as you suspected, that onions were not in fact rationed, so I have removed them from the list. Dave Gonzalez - references

Dave was a member of a notable Rock band - Gary Lewis and the Playboys - additionally, he has a lineage of famous people, but his songs and manuscripts are unpublished, and his many sessions in the studio and at clubs are unvalidatable. I have obtained some pictures - and a DVD copy of Gary and the band with Dave from 25 years ago, in a club in Eugene, Oregon. All of Dave's published material is in the Industrial field of manufacturing and technology, and his education is in transcripts. Please advise and thank you. Please answer this on Dave's talk page. This edit was in response to yet another attack in his typical passive aggressive manner. (Note: Baseball Card Guy has stolen that phrase from me in the past.) It is just a series of attacks in his passive aggressive way such as this, this, this, this and many others. Ignoring contrary evidence, he keeps insinuating that I am a sockpuppet of Baseball Card Guy, and keeps attacking me and ignoring any sort of constructive criticism. I strongly suspect that he was involved in sockpuppetry to possibly discredit Baseball Card Guy. These two will stop at nothing to destroy each other and do not care how much time and effort is wasted dealing with them. That is why both should be banned. IP block

I blocked the IP in question after confirming that the so-called corrections were errors - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was released in 2004, not 2005 as the IP tried to add, and it took about 1/2 a second to confirm that DiCaprio never won an Oscar for Gilbert Grape. That, combined with the previous edit, sent up enough red flags to justify the block (which is only for a few days as it's an IP). While the date could be an honest mistake, the error regarding the award was harder to overlook. Would appreciate your guidance

As a new wikipedian,I was keen to create two articles on a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada . Both are highly respected societies but I am trpidated to note that there has been some debate as to whether their members merit suffiecient notability!!!To my way of thinking they do but I woudl welcome your advice as an adminsitrator.

  • I think it depends on how selective the societies are, although I think they would meet the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (academics), specifically condition number 3, "The person is or has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association".   • The reason the link was removed did not seem to be accurate, as mania was already in the list of symptoms; maybe Prasad's Syndrome (or at least the name "Prasad's Syndrome") is not notable enough to be mentioned. Also, although there is a Prasad in the list of fellows of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, it is a different person - their website suggests it is an alternative name of Satish Dhawan. —Snigbrook 16:20, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

In regards to the December 2009 & 2010 proposals

First of 3 points, I am an employee for Network Rail and we are thinking about setting out these guidelines. Secondly, I apologize if the wording was inaccurate (as it did seem) as I was in a rush when editing the article. Thirdly, this is not someones 'imagination gone wild' and let me assure you that we have had many complaints about the new timetable and employees of EMT (that is if you really are one) not doing their job probably, settling for the absolute minimum and not providing a proper service that they can be proud of, and that they would be happy to use. I would strongly advise you and EMT to think about the future and provide a good service. If you wonder why we are proposing these changes, let me explain. If you look at the 3 InterCity rail services from London to the North, you have Virgin, East Midlands Trains & National Express East Coast. The standard off-peak hourly service is: Virgin: Birmingham New Street, Birmingham New Street, Wolverhampton, Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Piccadilly, Liverpool Lime Street, Glasgow Central, Chester (regularly extended to north Wales)

National Express East Coast: Leeds, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh Waverley,

and East Midlands Trains: Melton Mowbray, Nottingham, Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield,

You will probably see that Virgin's is considerably better than the other two, serving North Wales & Scotland as well as Birmingham, Liverpool & Manchester. The trains are mainly 9-car Pendilinos although 4x4-car Super Vogagers use a few routes. I understand that the infrastructure is much better so you can't really compare the two, so lets compare, EMT with NXEC.

The big towns & cities National Express East Coast serves Peterborough, Doncaster, Leeds, York, Darlington, Newcastle, Edinburgh & Glasgow with limited services to Hull, Bradford, Harrogate, Aberdeen & Inverness.

The big towns & cities East Midlands Trains serves Leicester, Derby, Nottingham & Sheffield with limited services to Lincoln, Leeds & York.

All National Express services are also quicker and travel further than all EMT services. The midland main line timetable needs drastic improvement, and Network rail will improve signalling to make safety better and decrease journey times but journey opportunities are poor.

Services need to be improved and we concluded that the limited service to Melton Mowbray, Leeds, York & Lincoln need to become hourly services extended from Kettering, Derby, Sheffield & Nottingham respectively. This also provides 2tph to Sheffield which is a necessity. There also is a fast service to Nottingham that we are proposing calling only at Leicester. We conducted a study to see which areas of the country are difficult to access from the Midland Main Line, and we concluded that (excluding the south and Wales, despite Thameslink expansion and the East-West rail link) because there is no point in operating services to these places that are far from the line, that the North West, North East & Scotland were the poorest. Meridians could be operated from St Pancras to Liverpool Lime Street via Manchester Piccadilly once testing is complete, if it is completed, but what we know is that HST's can be operated on the East Coast Main Line as NXEC already do. Therefore, the hourly fast to York (which we will set to be operated by 2009, will have a morning and an evening service each way to Scarborough, and two morning and two evening services will be operated each way to Edinburgh Waverley, with a view for an hourly services in 2010.
