DYK quick question
I think people can be flexible if they think you did a good enough job. Daniel Case (talk) 05:25, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Both, I guess. I've accepted less than 5x if the material was good, and believe me the way we review stuff you need not worry about it being exactly 120 hours. We're not that strict. Daniel Case (talk) 05:34, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Re: Image
Yeah, it looks the same to me...inexplicably crisp in the history. I had this problem a long time ago and I don't remember what I did, other than just making a new version of the image (even just saving the raw image under a new name on my own computer) and then uploading that the same way. If you still have trouble, I suggest you get in touch with one of the people active at Wikipedia:Graphic Lab, where they specialize in cleaning up images; someone there might know what's going wrong. DYK for The Greatest Pharaohs
I have taken your advice to heart and offered a shorter and more precise alternate hook. Thank you, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 03:07, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- Again, using your good advice I modified the education paragraph to make that specific assertion, and the use of the film in these courses is listed in course sylibi, course video requirements, or course video resources found in the various cites. Thank you. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 03:53, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- I appreciate the AGF. I hate having found only copies of sylabi posted online by some professor for his/her students. And my finding it listed as in the media libraries for such courses is not nearly as good as the universies and colleges having such on their official websites. I am myself a few decades out of college, but it seems now that one has to be an enrolled student with University passwords to have that kind of access. Trust though that I'll keep looking. Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:20, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

I've replied on T:TDYK to your concerns. I don't think the source is a wiki as I can't edit it myself. Info has not been sourced from Wikipedia. Site uses the GFDL in a similar manner to Wikipedia. Mjroots (talk) 06:17, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Drug names question
Hi there! No, I wasn't suggesting all instances of "Cialis" be changed to "tadalafil", I was merely noting that the generic name is preferred. In this particular case, I think a distinction should be made between the compound and the product, as if the drug were hypothetically sold by various companies under various names; the article could thus write of Cialis ads, sales of Cialis, Cialis tablet, and Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis labels, but Main article: Tadalafil instead of Main article: Cialis; Tadalafil, sold as Cialis and initially codenamed IC351 instead of Cialis, also known as tadalafil and IC351 (the drug is not "also known as" tadalafil, it is called tadalafil and sold as Cialis); and [...] (NAION) in users of sildenafil (Viagra), not [...] (NAION), in Viagra users (the side effect is caused by the compound, regardless of its trade name, marketing, etc.). Sorry for all the italics :)
I think this is an important distinction; if you disagree, feel free to ignore me! The article is in really impressive shape, by the way. I'll try to review it in depth if I have the time. Best wishes, Fvasconcellos (t·c) 15:06, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you! The INN of LeukArrest is rovelizumab; we even have an article on it, which is in need of some TLC (hint, hint :). I don't think Pafase has one, and resiniferatoxin is already a chemical (i.e. nonproprietary) name, so there's no need to worry about that. I'll read the article more thoroughly and comment at the PR. Best, Fvasconcellos (t·c) 13:56, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Apologies on behalf of Enigmaman

DYKcheck
I just used the tool on National Health Service Lottery. The tool gave a warning there were no inline citations. A simple glance show there are. Did I do something wrong when I checked the page or did I find a bug? Please leave a note on my talk when you answer. - Mgm|(talk) 13:02, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I was working in IE. Sometimes I edit on a computer where no other browsers can be installed. Does the script work properly on Google Chrome? - Mgm|(talk) 18:30, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- I tried Chrome. Apparently, the link doesn't appear in the toolbox. Another question. How do you check other hooks than the top one directly on T:TDYK? - Mgm|(talk) 00:23, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- I can still see the "no inline citations" message in IE. Obviously the bug fix isn't working. - Mgm|(talk) 08:32, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Given the history of that Wilbur Wright film, I'm surprised that there wasn't already an article. An odd DYKcheck bug
Hi. After I added 3 alt hooks to Template talk:Did you know#John Biehl (all added at one time), I ran DYKcheck on the entry. It checked the original hook and the first alt, but not ALT2 or ALT3. I've reloaded the page, and the results are the same. Any idea why it ignores the other hooks? (They're clearly shorter than ALT1, so the results for these hooks don't matter.) --Orlady (talk) 18:54, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- The hooks weren't formatted right; they have to start with "... that" exactly, with the space between the ellipses and "that". It's to make sure the tool doesn't get confused about people just ruminating in the comments section. I've fixed the John Biehl hooks and the tool should pick up on them now. Shubinator (talk) 18:59, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! So far, so good. Does the script also get messed up when there is a comma after 'that"? This is the only way I can explain its failure to find the second hook for Template talk:Did you know#Compounds of zinc. For better or worse, sometimes it's necessary to insert a comma after "that". --Orlady (talk) 20:33, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, you're right. I put that in also so the tool doesn't pick up on someone in the comments saying something like "... that's impossible". I've tweaked it now so it finds the hook if it starts with "... that," (as well as the original "... that "). Thanks! Shubinator (talk) 21:04, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

And another. The tool always gets messed up at [1], regardless of how the URL is entered. --Orlady (talk) 15:40, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- I think it's because Boxhill (Louisville) is also mentioned (and wikilinked!) in the Ronald-Brennan House nom, so it's finding all the hooks between the first mention of Boxhill (Louisville) and the nom after the Boxhill one. I think I've got a fix for this bug with finding a ton of hooks, but I have to test it out. Bit busy now, but I should get it done by Thursday. Shubinator (talk) 17:57, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've tried piping all of those links to "Boxhill (Louisville)", but that doesn't help. --Orlady (talk) 18:09, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Haha, that's clever, but it wouldn't work. The tool looks at the HTML on T:TDYK to find the correct section and the hook. I had it find the start of a section by finding a link to the article title. It doesn't matter if it's piped in the wikitext or not, the HTML will have the same link. I've fixed it now though to be specific to the correct section. This should also work if there are multiple noms of the same title. Going back to how the tool does its job...for most of the stuff it reads HTML (finding hooks, calculating prose, calculating expansion, finding inline citations, and checking for stub tags in the article itself). This is for two reasons: 1) If you've got the page open, the tool doesn't need to ask for info from Wikipedia's servers to work with HTML for the page, and 2) The prosesize tool was made for reading HTML code. DYKcheck does check the talk page of an article using the wikitext though, since you're not on the page and there's no need to calculate the prose of the talk page. Anyways, long story short, this bug should be fixed. Thanks! Shubinator (talk) 21:40, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Don't worry too much about Ottava Rima's harrassment. You're getting a crash course in the life cycle of an Ottava Rima argument. 1) O R makes a wrong assertion about a set of rules he doesn't understand [2]/[3]; 2) someone points out that he is simply wrong [4]/[5]; 3) crowd goes wild (not pictured); 4) O R tries to have the rules changed to make him right [6][7]/; 5) everyone shoots the proposal down.[8]/[9]. It's barely even worth paying attention anymore; hopefully I can keep myself distracted for a bit and not get drawn too deep into it. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 05:30, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
