Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Peter St. Albans has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. -- IRP 02:01, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Mary Hyde

[edit]

I have nominated Mary Hyde, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mary Hyde. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Ironholds (talk) 08:24, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

May I suggest you contribute to the AfD on this matter? All the copyediting in the world will not help if your article is deleted. Ironholds (talk) 11:53, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to Mary Ann Black. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. ChrischTalk 09:57, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Improving the article

[edit]

Can you rewrite the opening paragraph to a couple of sentences that explains why she's notable? I can't figure out what she sued for? You have way to much information, and I'd be glad to help rewrite it, but I can't figure out what she's notable for, ie, what she sued for! --KP Botany (talk) 01:15, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please preview

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to James O. Curtis (shipbuilder), it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. -- Brianhe (talk) 19:35, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tasty chocolate chip cookie for you for all that work on the Clipper ships template!

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Maud de Lacy, Countess of Lincoln a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.

Hi, I just noticed that some of the material from these changes to the above article is copyrighted. Specifically the sentence "The castle, formerly a possession of the de Lacy family of Pontefract, passed to the House of Lancaster in 1311, and thence to the Crown in 1399." came directly from this website. Wikipedia can't accept copyrighted material, and you can't copy and paste like that. Nev1 (talk) 18:43, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Hibbs

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your contributions to the draft article on Peter Hibbs. There is enough there now to warrant an article, so I have transferred it to Peter Hibbs. You can make further edits there. Thanks again and best wishes, WWGB (talk) 04:02, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Peter Hibbs, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

the article already exists at Peter Hibbs

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. WWGB (talk) 23:56, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I've reverted your edit to Victorian gold rush because you did not explain why you were changing the date. Afterwriting beat me to undoing your edit to Australian gold rushes that changed the capitalization of the newspaper titles; please see the relevant section of the Manual of Style. Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Australian gold rushes may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s and 1 "<>"s likely mistaking one for another. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kate DeAraugo, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Victoria (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
