Thanks for the Wah Mee photos, but we don't have the legal right to use them in Wikipedia as they are copyrighted. Unless you have express consent from the copyright holders? Please let me know on my talk page. Thanks! --Lukobe 18:18, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Got your message -- two of the photos from the Wah Mee article are from the police department (public domain?), but one is from a private photographer. I know where the site is in the International District, so I can just head over there and take a photo of the alleyway myself :D
Thanks! No, sorry, police department photos aren't public domain. They'll have to be removed. And can you go ahead and take a photo of the alley yourself? Yeah--the government-works-as-public-domain thing only works for the federal, not state or local governments. --Lukobe 05:08, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Maria Lea Pedini-Angelini, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please do not remove deletion tags from your own work

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. --Butseriouslyfolks 10:11, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am a history and political buff currently researching European Microstates. I will be adding to this article in the near future. First off, this article is important because Pedini-Angelini was the first female head of San Marino (as well as one of the first women head of state in the world!) Secondly, there are dozens of wikipedia articles about Captains Regents of San Marino with much less information than my article. Thirdly, I have created at least thirty wikipedia articles, so give me the benifit of the doubt. I don't why my article has been singled out.

-Seattledude 23/02/2007 3:08

  • Hi, please don't feel singled out. I happened upon the article while reviewing new pages for problems. There are a couple of issues here. First, there are no citations in the article, so, in its present form, it is not verifiable. Second, when I tagged it, it was too limited to be a publicly available article at WP. Keep in mind that while many WP users are also editors, the vast majority of people use it solely as a reference work, and its value is deprecated if it has a high proportion of uncited, abbreviated articles. You've already started expanding the article, so it probably will not be speedily deleted. If I were you, I would add a couple of references (preferably inline) at this point, and that will almost certainly make it a keeper. Also, in the future, you might want to develop articles in your sandbox before incorporating them into the main space of WP. Happy editing! --Butseriouslyfolks 18:03, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of USB Stickler

[edit]

A tag has been placed on USB Stickler, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Seattledude! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 329 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

A tag has been placed on Alexy Tyler requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Your *Lottery!* Article

[edit]

Thank you for creating the article on the 1983 television series Lottery! which I loved. (Predictably and alas, it only lasted one season. Predictably, because I loved it. I have always thought that I could make a fortune screening prospective TV shows for the networks. The more I like them, the less likely they are to be a success and visa versa! My streak as a perverse TV series prognosticator came to a screeching halt with the advent of The Big Bang Theory which I loved from the first episode, and, therefore, had doubted it would last through its first season!)

Anyway, I left a note on the Talk Page. I point it out to you as you are unlikely to discover it on your own due to the paucity of views the article receives, let alone its Talk Page. In the event you are interested:

Nomination of USB Stickler for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article USB Stickler is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/USB Stickler until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

The main reason for deletion would be lack of notability. If you have some independent sources that mention this product or show that it is notable then that would provide support for keeping it, and you should discuss it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/USB Stickler. However I couldn't find any on the web. Gccwang (talk) 03:12, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The file File:Memminger.gif has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Deletion pending for File:Jeffrey-M-Cohen-May-2020.jpeg

Hello, Seattledude. Some time ago, a file you uploaded — File:Jeffrey-M-Cohen-May-2020.jpeg — was tagged with {{OTRS pending}}, indicating that you (or perhaps the copyright holder if you did not create this image) submitted a statement of permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Though there is often a backlog processing messages received at this address, we should have received your message by now.

  • If you have not submitted (or forwarded) a statement of permission, please send it immediately to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.
  • If you have already sent this message, it is possible that there was a problem receiving it. Please re-send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.

If we don't hear from you within one week, the file will be deleted. If we can help you, please feel free to ask at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 15:37, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Jeffrey-M-Cohen-May-2020.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Jeffrey-M-Cohen-May-2020.jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 01:42, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:11, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
