Re: How am I?
I'm well! How are you? Apparently I don't log in often, seeing how you posted your message on my profile more than a year ago and I didn't get it until now.
Did you want anything more specific, or were you just randomly polite? :)

User:BigDunc autoblock
This autoblock caught User:BigDunc. As I'm not good with SSPs, I was wondering if you would unblock if he's not User:Peterjohnohara.... — Arthur Rubin (talk) 18:48, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm... I don't know how big the range is personally (I'm not good on IP ranges), so I don't know how likely it is that he is Peterjohnohara. Although, his name didn't come up on the SSP list. ScarianCall me Pat! 19:09, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
You recently closed the above SSP with the simple conclusion that it was too big for SSP and that a range block should "perhaps" be requested. A number of people have been working hard to report this user's abuses, but I don't think any of us know the process. Unless you provide more specific guidance under your conclusions on what is supposed to be done, the closing of the SSP will only lead to the opening of WP:Suspected sock puppets/Nimbley6 (5th). -Rrius (talk) 21:04, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- You can't really do anything about it unless you get someone to permanently range block his entire IP range. Try WP:RBI. He'll get tired eventually. ScarianCall me Pat! 21:14, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Revert, Block, and Ignore has not worked very well with him, and he is not likely to get bored soon as he has been going for around four months. What I was asking for was some sort of guidance on the SSP page on how to successfully get a range block. -Rrius (talk) 21:25, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Blacks on Tracks
Blacks on Tracks Media:Example.ogg
Thanks for your comments. I am a 63 year old African American and Amtrak Conductor who has travelled extensively across the USA by train since the 1940's. From 1954 to 1957 I experienced discrimination first hand when I was thrown out of lounge cars on the "Royal Palm" and "West Coast Champion" because of my color while traveling alone. I also have vivid and painful memories of eating behind a curtain at one of two tables next to the blazing hot kitchen of the Champion's dining car. When the curtain was removed by law I stood in line waiting for a "colored" table to open up on the "Palm" while white passengers were constantly being greeted and seated. Both trains carried filthy unmaintained "colored" baggage/coaches (CW40 and RP1)where black passengers were forced to sit - a startling contrast to the stylish coaches reserved for white passengers! - while the trains rolled through the "Heart of the South".
Station facilities in Orlando, Jacksonville, Atlanta and other southern towns and cities were always noticeably "Separate and Unequal". I have always loved trains but segregation and surly white conductors sabotaged good feelings I could have cherished forever had I been white. Only when trains crossed the Mason Dixon line at Cincinnati (or Washington, DC) were black passengers treated with respect by the New York Central, Pennsylvania RR, B & O, and other northern roads not bound by southern tradition.
Conductors and engineers were white male jobs while black males for the most part were only hired as porters, red caps, and menial laborers. That I am a Conductor on the very trains that made me feel so small and afraid - today's version of the Crescent, Silver Star, and Silver Meteor - is indeed ironic, so I go out of my way to make all passengers - especially children - have an unforgettable travel experience with no regrets. In the 90's I initiated "InnerCity Xpress - Adventures in Learning" at Amtrak to give Baltimore school children the opportunity to ride the train. It was very successful and a lot of fun!
I have written extensively about my experiences and love of trains and have been published in a number of publications, including The Washington Post, The Jacksonville Times-Union, Amtrak News, the National Railway Historical Society Bulletin, Orlando Sentinel, Baltimore Chronicle, Baltimore Urbanite, Baltimore City Paper, LIFE magazine, and even Classic Trains recently. Passenger Train Journal published "The Champion" in November 1987 and "Reflections in Black and White" in March 1988, "Night Train" (poem) and other articles and letters.
"Blacks on Tracks" is an epic poem about the total black experience on the railroad.

Use of template for vandalism
Hello, Scarian. I am writing to you in connection with a template for vandalism you left on the talk page of an editor from Bulgarian Wikipedia. As I understand you indicate this edit as vandalism but it is simply adding Bulgarian interwiki which is a constructive edit. I will ask you to explain where is the vandalism and if there isn't, to remove the template. Please, use this template for the vandals only, and not for contributive editors. Thank you.--Алиса Селезньова (talk) 18:54, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

please help me with wikipedia
Forgive me for my friends who were put under block on the indefinite from Wikipedia, but they never meant vandalism whatsoever and they never meant deceiving anybody. The friends are expressing themselves and their very own opinions, but somehow Wikipedia said something related to "sock-puppet" and my friends became disappointed and disturbed by what Wikipedia had mentioned, and they wouldn't knowingly deceive or attack anybody with malicious intents for abuse. They are really amateur users with Wikipedia editing and they began making edits recently although they heard of Wikipedia during 2004. So whatever you must do, please help us about editing Wikipedia without being put on blockage. Please, give us the directions.

Wikipedia needs a warning template for using false edit summaries
That's my Wiki thought of the day. Look at Kmaster (talk · contribs)'s edit summaries. There isn't a vandalism revert in the lot of them. Just a content dispute. But there is no warning template that I can see from Wiki to lock onto the ignorant editor's talk page to tell him to stop being such a d*ckh*ad. WP:METAL is already overpopulated with a**h*les. This looks like a new dweeb on the block. Libs (talk) 23:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

In regards to User talk:Barbara1888
I indefinitely blocked that user, as there is ample evidence that is the same person. The "friends" that were blocked were people you just blocked yesterday for sockpuppetry! Quite fitting that the first edit was to ask forgiveness from the person who blocked "them". Not to mention, the names are similar, edits to the same pages (primarily the notorious Drought in the United States, but also to the feet), and the similar edit summaries. Just thought I'd let you know. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:50, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

I feel that your concern over my unrevealed past is legitimate; it cannot be easy to support an admin who more or less drops in out of the sky. For what it's worth, I want to say that I am not here to cause trouble - maybe causing a bit of trouble here and there is in my nature, but it's not my overriding goal. As for Wikipedia Review, I have read it on occasion, but only in short bursts, and never posted there. The atmosphere is so noxious and so negative that I can only take small doses. The place strikes me as a rogues' gallery...kinda reminds me of a scene in some western movie where the sheriff rounds up all the horse thieves, the cattle rustlers, the card sharps, and the gunslingers and gets them all in the cramped town jail, where they while away the days complaining about the injustice of it all. Besides, I don't have much in common with the crowd there. I believe in Wikipedia; they don't. I love Wikipedia; they don't. My main gripe is a lack of openness; their main gripe is openness. Anyway, I appreciate your taking the time to respond and hope to work with you in the future. Mr. IP 《Defender of Open Editing》 14:18, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Reliable sources
Hi, I've noticed your efforts on the Oasis (band) article and getting it recognised as a Good Article; you seem experienced in the area of articles about music acts so I'm asking you for advice. I'm wondering if there's an online source for the genres a band spans that you consider reliable. The 'genre' field of an infobox in music articles invariably seems to be a breeding ground for POV and leads to silly arguments. The case I'm talking about isn't over the Oasis article but Muse. I'd like there to be a central source that could be referred to in these instances but I've got a nasty feeling there probably isn't one. Thanks for your time. Nev1 (talk) 13:59, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

- Please pull in your horns, Scarian. Irpen hasn't edited since early July. Don't greet him with that kind of hostility, in case he logs in to check his page. "Don't worry", to somebody who wrongly thinks Irpen is an admin... ? Presumably the person was under that impression because Irpen is a well-known, hardworking, and widely respected user, no matter what your personal opinion of him may be, or mine, for that matter. To somebody who praises Irpen for being a trustworthy admin? Is that really a good joke, do you think...? You are an admin, but that doesn't constitute a general license for amusing yourself at the expense of users. BTW, I notice an angry, aggressive post of yours, higher up on Irpen's page.[2] As luck would have it, Irpen went on a wikibreak soon after you posted it. It bothers me to see you attack him both coming and going, even though I'm sure that aspect of your posts on his page is accidental. Anyway, Irpen's comment that you responded to on July 6 was mild enough. Your reply was, well, bad-tempered is the least I can call it. Your best recourse would have been to completely ignore what he'd said instead of (apparently)holding Irpen to a higher standard of conduct than you hold yourself. I'm sure you're really aware of the principle that "Wikipedia's administrators are held to a higher standard of behavior than other users". See [3], an arbcom comment which has passed into policy by being linked from WP:ADMIN. Could you please take a little timeout to consider these points? Of course I can't dictate your actions, but I really wish you would take Irpen's page off your watchlist. Best wishes, Bishonen | talk 20:29, 6 August 2008 (UTC).

Muse genre
You reverted my edits and refered me to the template. It says: "Genres should be separated with a delimiter, either a comma or a line break (<br/>).". Oasis sales figures
I'm still not certain about including 60 million as the number of records Oasis have sold. Records is used normally to describe albums rather than singles. The source provided is not the most reliable; it doesn't give any specific information on how many copies of each album and/or single were sold for example. I'd be inclined to ask other contributors to the page for their opinion as well.--Play Brian Moore (talk) 15:47, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

There are plenty of sources out there, photographs on the net that could be cited, but you don't put refs in infoboxes! And yes, he played hardcore punk for three years straight in a band called Scream... by your yardstick, we ought to remove grunge, which he hasn't played for fourteen years. By the way, it wasn't me that put Mike Watt in, but that must have happened when I reverted your edit to the infobox, the one where you removed the Notable Instruments section... anyway, the NI section at least needs the DG-335, seeing as that is his signature model...--Voxpuppet (talk • contribs) 13:07, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

I am pleasantly taken aback by the amount of support for me to contribute in an administrative role and look forward to demonstrating that such faith is well placed. Oasis disagreement
Might I suggest not disagreeing with someone and in the same thought, admitting you didn't bother to read anything the person said? It looks rather close-minded of you to do that. I gave plenty of sources for both of the genre adds I wanted to make, but you did not actually bother to debate the issue. Please contribute to this discussion and offer why you object to such edits, rather than reverting or simply saying you disagree with them. Y2kcrazyjoker4 (talk) 16:25, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Your message on my talkpage
I fail to see how pointing out mistakes is assuming bad faith, I did not accuse Enigmaman of bad faith, merely pointed out the minor mistakes they had made. I also reject your assertion that I was aggressive, terse perhaps, but I assumed from the length of their talkpage and the barnstar about 2 posts above my own that I was speaking to an established editor, who should be able to handle another editor pointing out their (minor) mistakes as I certainly would. Perhaps I should have told them how much I appreciate their effort to improve Wikipedia coverage of Argentine football before pointing out their mistakes, I shall apologise forthwith. Read the bottom line on this "to be re-directed" article...
Aaron Gainer. :-D. Edited by Aaron himself.... that's funny. Every "individual" page related to that band should be... I think.... re-directed to the band page.(and prot'd) Your thoughts? Libs (talk) 13:05, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
It's like you've been given the official go-ahead to act like an a**hole...
Funny how rules work sometimes, eh? Libs (talk) 16:04, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Remember that "edit warrior" we discussed and how he should be blocked? His potential block duration is growing
We should discuss in private over a smoke. Ah smoke. An excellent Wiki-tool y'know.... smoke. Libs (talk) 13:11, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
