AccReqBot is very helpful at WP:ACC, but there's another task that's being discussed on the talk page that might be appropriate for a bot. We're using the {{ACC}} template to tag the status of a request in machine-readable form; if a request has been tagged with {{ACC}} for 3 days, and its first parameter is neither 's' nor 'similar', could the bot remove the request as rejected? (It wouldn't have to be 3 days exactly, just run on a typical archivebot schedule, removing rather than archiving the requests.) At the moment, rejected requests just build up. Thanks! --ais523 12:27, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh, and any sections tagged {{ACC|c}} should be archived as successful as soon as the bot notices (it's used to manually tag created accounts that the bot misses). --ais523 12:41, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes. That relates to the Channel contact which for most purposes is what's needed.
However, should an IRC channel need to be dropped, for example to name change,
that requires the original 'registration' password NOT the channel contact AFIAK

No, I see the need for a second copy of the bot to be run, so is it possible to run a redundant copy of it (e.g. AccReqBot2)? Or, is it a one bot only thing? Extranettalk11:27, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It would be impossible to run it from my computer as I have bandwidth issues with my ISP, thats why I rather run it on the m:Toolserver. Tell me more information on what I can do. And, maybe you can give the toolserver request a bit of a bump? Extranettalk21:31, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we can put it on toolserv, we'd just be subject to toolserver downtime. I thought the point of running another copy was to avoid that. ST47Talk21:35, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, alright. It's just that you said earlier that we could use the toolserver. As you can already see, there is three HBC AIV helperbots running and I really thought there was the need for two AccReqBots because if say you have to update yours, mine would keep running the tasks, and so on. I can, on some circumstances run the bot from my spare Windows 98 computer, but as I said, the bandwidth issues with my current ISP really puts that off. If you don't really think there is a point of running it anymore, I will just have to resist not running a bot on Wikipedia. I'm sorry I have put all this on you at one time, but I just enjoy running and maintaining bots, while also contributing myself. Many thanks, Extranettalk21:43, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can I possibly insert my co-nomination? You really deserve it as you are kind and loyal to the whole entire Wikipedia community. Extranettalk02:02, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your bot is trying to blank the account request page. I've sent in a block request while you sort out the problem, but please do so. -Amarkovmoo!02:20, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You are receiving this message because you have signed up for the Signpost spamlist. If you wish to stop receiving these messages, simply remove your name from the list. Ralbot06:37, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The bot doesn't seem to be removing the created accounts at the moment... Is there still a problem with it? Also, with the AccReqBot2 BRFA, I have stated that I am very keen on it and don't really see a problem about running another one along side it, because if one goes down (like yours did yesterday), my copy will still run. And with updates, we can update the code at different times so that it is still monitored. And remember, if the toolserver goes down, that's not really out fault. But, I don't really see it being approved, just like all my bots have been declined (except for one!). Extranettalk09:50, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a note saying that I want a clone, both to prevent coding fuckups and these weird crashes that I can't isolate, and I hope it gets approved. Also, I've restarted my copy. ST47Talk10:49, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've reblocked the bot again. It's interacting badly with customized signatures, cutting them off at the first = sign, and messing up the page. (Presumably, you're looking for = to find the end of a section rather than newline-=). --ais523 10:51, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
I thought I fixed that! Please unblock, I've added a lookahead assertion for ==, and I've got to go to school.ST47Talk10:56, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't look like the bot approval will succeed. I'll just have to find another non-admin job to do around here... AWB looks too hard to work with. AccReqBot looks like its running great now. Extranettalk09:18, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
User:ST47/Wikimania - This can't now happen. Re-factor or delete (keeping a record for yourself)?
There are pages to do with Class President that should be removed as uncyclopediac as well.
(but keep copies for yourself)
ShakespeareFan0019:56, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I dbed that page, removed the link, and removed the userbox. That's the only stuff visible from my userpage. I'll zapp everything else next time I clear out my userspace. ST47Talk20:01, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for applying for NPWatcher!
You've been approved to use it. Before you run the program, please check the changelog on the application page to see if there is a newer release (or just add the main page (here) to your watchlist). Report any bugs or feature suggestion here. If you need help, feel free to contact me or join NPWatcher.
Hi! I am honored that you would offer, but I don't with to stand for adminship at this time, due not only to a recent failed RfA (whenever that was) but also to the fact that my written finals are beginning, then my 'real' finals the 3rd week of June. I'd rather give it a few months, see if I have time to participate in this project in such a role, finish indexing, or at least summarizing, my talk archives, and perhaps try to write an FA. Thanks! ST47Talk18:01, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for making a report about Lopopl(talk·contribs·block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. --Nlu (talk) 18:25, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think we should withdrawl this request for approval. Instead of running a bot, I will try to learn how AWB works and possibly host some PHP and Perl scripts on the toolserver when I get it. If thats okay with you, I am sorry for taking up your time. Extranettalk12:39, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again! Sorry to bother you, but as I have been going around the place today, I have found the need for an archival bot on two popular pages. They are Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser and Wikipedia:Abuse reports. They both are currently archived manually, but I'm sure I can set up a new routine where they add a certain 'finished', 'declined', etc. tag to the bottom of the request and let it be archived to a subpage such as /Completed requests or /Declined requests. Let me know what you think about it. Primarily, if you think it is good, and we were to request it, the name would be ExtranetBot (which I can create), so that I can run multiple tasks from the one. It would also be most likely run on the toolserver. As I said, let me know what you think and whether we would really need one. Many thanks, Extranettalk03:30, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we have checkuser clerks that archive all that, I suoopse that if you could write an algorithm for archiving WP:ABUSE, that would work. ST47Talk10:55, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not really good at writing bots. If possible, could I get the source code of AccReqBot so I can use that as a template? Would that be a good template to write the bot off? If it is, that would make it easier and I could even learn some perl along the way. Extranettalk11:00, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, AccReqBot is online at User:ST47/ARB, but that's for a very different task. How about you write down a process step by step, then we can start trying to write real code off of that template. ST47Talk11:04, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your fast approval. There are projects with some ten-thousand articles where it takes weeks to get a bot flag. Regards, --Polarlys20:52, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
User:AccReqBot adds {{welcome}} to newly created accounts' talk pages. That template really seems better suited for users who have made contributions that are welcomed by human editors. If the bot's going to welcome users, could a better template be used and signed by the bot? I've created a variation of the welcome template here. It will always display the new user's user creation log on the This account was created for you link. What do you think? WODUP07:35, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I need to know how to make revisions by making it search wikilinks on an article for more changes if you know what I mean? Say List of countries, how do I get it to make it to search each country's article for the change? Extranettalk20:32, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You have 2 ways, either go to make list and select Links on page or get your list of source articles, such as List of countries, select them all, right click, add selected to list, from links on page. Good luck! --ST47Talk21:59, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that, works a treat! Also, are you possibly able to write the bot code for the WP:ABUSE archival? It would be much appreciated if you could so I can apply for the approval soon. Extranettalk06:55, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm really pleased to see someone making the effort to try out my proposal. I'm not entirely convinced it will work, but I'll be interested to see what happens. One thing though, would you mind 'taking over' (as I won't have much time in the next few days to devote to this), and also using your name rather than mine? Call it something like "ST47's trial run based on Carcharoth's proposal". I haven't really fleshed out my proposal enough to take any credit (or blame!) for this, so it would be great if you could write stuff up on a new page (feel free to link from that page to my original proposal, or even to copy from what I wrote there), outline the history of the proposal, and then link to that new page in the notice you send out to panel members, rather than to my original proposal? Hope this is OK. Thanks. Carcharoth09:46, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can expand it based on my interpretation, but I'm not running it as much as giving it a stern push. We have enough of an outline for a trial, and afterwards we'll see any problems and can update that. I'm expecting to have a good panel by tonight, I can take your explanation and add whatever details we've fleshed out. --ST47Talk10:18, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Choad, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hi, would it be possible to get the bot to ignore requests that have an empty username, as these are probably malformed and would need to be dealt with manually. Thanks, Tra(Talk)17:10, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, there's nothing wrong with it. I'm excited that you are finally formally approved. Thanks for remaining so responsive to our requests. alphachimp17:10, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, are you possibly able to write the bot code for the WP:ABUSE archival? It would be much appreciated if you could so I can apply for the approval soon. Extranettalk06:55, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding wP:ABUSE, I can't write code to do something that I don't even understand, so you need to write an outline for what to do and when, for example, check each abuse report transcluded on WP:ABUSE to see if it has template A. If so, remove it. If it has template B, move it to the rejected requests. If it has template C, wait 5 days then delete it. If there have been to edits for a month, archive it.. You can't say archive WP:ABUSE because I have no idea what WP:ABUSE is. --ST47Talk00:49, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have just completed the outline for the archival bot. I hope you are able to help me with this, it would be much appreciated. Anyway, the main outline for it can be found at User:E/botoutline. Many thanks, Extranet is now Etalk06:49, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for that, I will check back in the morning to see the progress. Also, I noticed on the source code, you have put '#####NEED TO KNOW - ADD TO TOP OR BOTTOM???'. The answer to that would be to add to the bottom - same with the rejected requests. Extranet is now Etalk10:39, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Here's a sample output - only two errors, and they're recurring and they aren't on my side, malformed transclusions or nonexisting pages:

I'll make one modification and then put the working code on that page. Do you have a toolserv account yet? --ST47Talk18:18, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm still waiting patiently at m:Toolserver/New accounts for one... It doesn't seem DaB. has been there for a while. Maybe you could give it a push? Also, how do you exactly run a bot on the toolserver? What edit rate would the bot need? Thanks for that code. It's really much appreciated :) Extranet is now Etalk20:40, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Edit rate? Slow. No more than 30 a day, I would say. Running a bot on toolserv, you SSH to it, you can make a little perl script that downloads it from the subpage to a file, then you just type chmod +x filename and screen ./filename. --ST47Talk22:00, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really understand how to operate and run something on the toolserver... Also, SSH is a secure FTP right? Correct me if I'm wrong and is it possible for you to help me install it and get it running? Extranet is now Etalk06:01, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Close! SSH is secure shell, so essentially you get access to that computer from your own. If you run windows, google PuTTY - you need to download the windows installer, that will give you PuTTY itself and PuTTYgen. Install it, and run PuTTYgen, you need to create and save an SSH key somewhere easy to remember. Once you're approved for toolserv, you'll be asked to send in part of that key, but if you need help with that you can ask on IRC. Someone can also walk you through connecting, don't know where the options are, but you need to set the host to hemlock.knams.wikimedia.org port 22 protocol SSH, and you probably need to point it to your key. Once you're in there's some sort of SFTP thing you do to move files around. --ST47Talk10:29, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay thanks. I'll do that, but wait for the toolserver account to be created... I doubt anytime soon, but I really want this bot running. Extranet is now Etalk10:42, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So where exactly do you need to run this bot? Where does the username and password come in? Extranet is now Etalk09:46, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Which username and password? The bot's? That goes in the bot in a line under $editor=new Perlwikipedia;, it should say $editor->login('USER', 'PASS'); You run the bot on the toolserver, you activate it through SSH. --ST47Talk10:27, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It will look for it on its own, but you need to put it in the same directory as the bot, which will be /home/e or /home/extranet, depending on your login name. The file should be named Perlwikipedia.pm - the capital P is important - and you can get it from Perlwikipedia.pm on googlecode. --ST47Talk10:35, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Could you possibly add that to the source code? And also check my few edits there as I have added some extras, revert them if they will cause any conflicts. Kind regards, Extranet is now Etalk10:41, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Now just to wait for both the toolserver account and the bot approval to go through. Hopefully thats not too long away. I also downloaded PuTTY and PuTTYgen and made my public and private SSH key for the toolserver. Anyway, I am off for now. Thanks again, Extranet is now Etalk10:51, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In your comments on the RBSpamAnalyzerBot request you imply that bots which only edit their own user pages do not require approval, is this true? I can't seem to get clarification anywhere. PeteMarsh10:49, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Usually not, I sometimes run statistical scripts that edit my userspace, however not at 20 epm. 20 epm is rather high, so whoever actually approves you should bring that down to 10 or 15, and of course as an unflagged bot can't edit faster than 2 epm, due to RC issues. --ST47Talk11:28, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the way I was planning to design my bot would be one, maybe two edits per run as a maximum, since it can simply generate the entire page then update my user-sub page with it all at once. Extra edits would just be for changing extra pages. If this ok then I think it should be mentioned on the bots policy page. PeteMarsh12:40, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey ST47. If I remember right, you once coded a denied welcome bot. Here, Ryan Postlethwaite made an excellent suggestion. If you did write the code, would you be able to add the thing Ryan mentioned in. Also, would you be able to allow the bot to run with a duplicate bot if one went down?, like the AIV helperbots do. I would be happy to submit the request and run the bot. (it may actually get approved :) ) --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 23:26, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm thinking of starting the bot request soon (I'll wait to post). Just to be clear. Users can list their sigs to be used, new users are logged from the IRC channel, only users that have edited are warned, and it will not use welcome if the user talk page exist. --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 01:06, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And the users who submit sigs would need to be approved by the operator, and I haven't even written the part that sends the welcomes yet, or registered the account... --ST47Talk01:12, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. That's fine. I'm guessing I'd be the operator. (And I mentioned on the other page that it would probably be good to make the bot be able to run along side itself, like the AIV helperbots do, so backups could be run. --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 01:16, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
R: Excellent - I see no problem with backups, however it'd be a waste to have two running, can I have the specs of the box you plan on running from? RAM, CPU, distro, internet connection speed, just so we don't zap your poor computer. --ST47Talk01:30, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
E: No problem with a toolserv backup, as long as you only start it if the main goes down. I created the account to avoid a bad situation, I can send you the password once it's approved. --ST47Talk01:33, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, no problem. I will only start it if one of you two give us a yell either by a message or email. Etalk01:38, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt it will do anything with my computer :). Windows Vista, 2 GB of RAM, 2.?? core 2 duo processor. 80 GB hard drive. And wouldn't you be sending me the password? --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 01:40, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The main account's password will go to you R, and the backup's one to me. I will only run mine when there is a serious error or another problem. Etalk01:43, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Running this sort of thing on windows is horribly annoying to do, and rarely works, there are a few dependencies that won't work on windows. --ST47Talk02:02, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't care about the annoyingness, but if it rarely works...:(. I cou ld try anyway. I have a lot of time this weekend to play with it. Oh...and I've started to write a request for the bot here. --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 02:05, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
By one, which one do you mean? I seem to have found a POE download here. I'm guessing thats the one you mean. And the IRC one I'm guessing is the first one here. So, I guess that only other thing I need is the exact perl binary (Where do I get that from?). --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 02:21, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You found the right things, but if you get them that way, you will miss the dependencies, once you install perl, use the cpan utility. As for perl itself, you can probably get it from here. --ST47Talk02:27, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I thought E. You actually edit conflicted me about that: I went to the binaries one, selected active perl, and got this. Which version do I want, and which package? --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 02:35, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have an AMD processor, so my computer won't let me run it. Should I use the older version listed in the other column. --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 02:42, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Active Perl downloaded. Should I download WinZip to extract the other things st47 told me to download? And in what directory should I put them? --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 02:58, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know, you'll have to talk to ST47 about that. In regards to the BRFA, I have changed a few things. I am pretty sure we are going from #en.wikipedia to look for the certain line of a new user:
E: correct, however the names are going to be stored in a buffer for a while, just to see what they're up to.
R: Can you run perl -V, just to make sure you have the right version? If that works, open the cpan utility and get POE, POE::Component::IRC, WWW::Mechanize, HTML::Entities, URI::Escape, and Carp. Then, take the code I linked to and run it. --ST47Talk11:28, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, here we go. It runs on Linux. I can guarantee it runs on Linux. I run Linux, and my tests work. Toolserv runs Linux. R runs Windows. ST47 doesn't use windows, and can't guarantee that it won't go welcoming the Main Page and Jimbo Wales 30 times a second on Windows. The operator has access to the code. ST47 can fix the code. ST47 wrote the code, and it's ST47's job to fix the code. Now, whoever runs this needs at least enough experience with a computer to install Linux, otherwise a) it may not work, and b) if there's a problem, you haven't near the experience needed to fix it and get it up as soon as possible. I'd much rather, at the very least, this run on Toolserv, and at best, that I have primary access to it.
As for the bot itself, the username-catching algorithm works, the welcoming section is about to be written and tested. --ST47Talk12:33, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Typing the command you told me didn't work. However, I do have active perl downloaded. I guess I'll just give up on it per the above message by you. (By the way, I'm not sure they run exactly the same, but HighInBC once had me run one of the AIV Helperbots using Perl, and it worked fine on Windows). --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 13:19, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The AIV things probably don't use the same framework as this. You said that running perl -V doesn't work? have you actually installed activeperl, or just downloaded it as you say? --ST47Talk13:45, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oops. I did say downloaded, but I meant installed. I have it installed, but the command doesn't work. But now that I think of it, might linux commands be different then Windows commands? --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 20:04, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I found the problem. Last night, I installed it in one place, then moved it to another. I thought moving everything wouldn't cause a problem, but it did. After moving it back, and running the command, a command prompt came up, and then exited a few seconds later. --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 20:39, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I used the CPAN utility to get POE and POE::Component::IRC. It put it in the bundles folder that's in the CPAN folder. Does it stay there, or does it have to be moved? Also, that subpage with the code, where does that go? And is there anything else I need to get? Also, how come in BAGBot's table, it says I'm a member of BAG? Sorry for all the questions :) --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 21:01, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's in the right place. The code, which I changed, can go anywhere you want. You need to take User:ST47/PW and put it in the same place as the code. And I fixed BAGBot. --ST47Talk22:51, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking that :). When I was copying and pasting, the numbers don't copy, so should I be taking it from editing mode, or should the numbers not be there? And should I set the notepad documents to open in perl? --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 23:34, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What numbers? Copy and paste from edit mode, obviously, but you don't need to associate the filename, just call them from the command line. --ST47Talk00:01, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, when running the command perl [filename], for /PW I get: C:\Perl\site\bin>perl Bot
Can't locate WWW/Mechanize.pm in @INC (@INC conta
ib .) at Bot line 4.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at Bot line 4.
For /WB1 I get: C:\Perl\site\bin>perl Bot2
Can't locate POE.pm in @INC (@INC contains: C:/Perl/
ot2 line 3.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at Bot2 line 3.
You don't RUN the MODULE, it's a CLASS for god's sake! Perlwikipedia should be named Perlwikipedia.pm and placed in either the working directory OR the @INC. The bot should, for the sake of my sanity, be .pl, and you need another module, WWW::Mechanize. --ST47Talk00:35, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Then you did it wrong. Where/how did you get WWW::Mechanize? Perlwikipedia is the file that says package Perlwikipedia; at the top. --ST47Talk00:46, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Then you didn't get it. Get means DOWNLOAD. CPAN's help says
Download, Test, Make, Install...
get download clean make clean
make make (implies get) look open subshell in dist directory
test make test (implies make) readme display these README files
install make install (implies test) perldoc display POD documentation
Okay. Now, after hitting enter for the first one, it just goes to the next command line. I'm guessing that's good. For the second one, it says I'm missing POE:Component:IRC. I was looking at it when I tried to install and saw this is why:
Running make install
make test had returned bad status, won't install without force
Failed during this command:
BINGOS/POE-Component-IRC-5.30.tar.gz : make_test NO
Ok, that's what I was afraid would happen. I get the same error on my windows laptop, and I can't get around it. --ST47Talk01:11, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How exactly does toolserver work? (ie. installing programs, putting the code in). And E, do you mean by next update is on Saturday, the the long list of people waiting for an account will be approved? --RParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 14:13, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No. If you can't figure out how to install Perl without this long thread, there is no way you can successfully use toolserv. --ST47Talk14:27, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you still think I should run these two bots? Many people seem to be questioning at the BRFA that you made the code, you should run it. I'm starting to get to the point of stopping the toolserver request and BRFAs until I'm ready with everything, including real life as I am tirelessly busy at this point in time... Etalk10:11, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you want to run them? I want the two bots running, I don't care how or where. If DaB approves you, run it on toolserver. If not, I'll do another BRFA and run it. --ST47Talk12:14, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If I do get declined the toolserv, could you still run them? They are a great resource to the community. Etalk20:22, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your comments were right on the verge of personal attack. Posting profanity like that on the talk page of somebody you do not know is overly agressive and very near WP:NPA.—Gaffταλκ22:58, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
user:Sumibot is making articles on Indian villages (especially of the state Andhra Pradesh) which have no notablity. Sad to see Wikipedia being flooded with so many unnotable articles on villages. The number of villages in India run in lakhs. You can't have an article on every village!
And if approve the making of his articles then he should make articles of all the 28 states.
Thanks for approving my bot. I have one question: Now it's active, would it be possible to add a feature to it in the new bots section (because it's still there, and it hasn't got a bot flag yet), or would it have to go in the existing bots section. Thanks, User:Stwalkerbot and Stwalkerstertalkreview21:25, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added some stuff earlier today. Thanks for not closing it earlier, but I can't think of anything else I want it to do apart from what I added, so after discussion it can be closed straight away (i.e. You don't need to keep it open again like you did earlier!) Thanks, Stwalkerstertalkreview14:25, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest, I would prefer to have the coder operate the bot, at least in trials, and preferably fully time (ST47 has a toolserver account which he could use anyway). What is the reasoning for this strange set up? I'm especially uncomfortable with E's apparent lack of familiarity with programming, perl in particular, but this may be getting better since I last took a look. Martinp23 12:37, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Then maybe ST47 could host it for the trialling period then when it's error free, I'll be able to host it - but, the toolserver update has not yet taken place. E 22:59, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Is this alright with you? The bot discussion is getting many questions as to why I'm running the bot, and not yourself. Etalk23:02, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, for trials at this point in time (for both bots). Does that mean trials can start immediately? If the toolserv request is denied, I'll ask you to host it permanently if that's OK. Etalk23:08, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oops didn't sign. To give you some background, this is the 3rd possible sockpuppet I ran into with this user, just this week! This is after I already had about 3-4 of them banned not too long ago. He just makes more, so an admin suggested I have a checkuser run on it. Wikidan82920:42, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Although I believe that this request was technically non-compliant, I didn't move it there because it just delays the process. The way it is now, the checkuser can decide whether it is close to compliant to process because my comments alert it as to the correct code.
I also am very cautious about changing a request. The original author may have a specific reason for doing things. I tend to just make a brief note as a clerknote.
Until very recently, code F required a link to the community ban discussion. However, this is sometimes hard for requestors to find because offenders are often blocked before a community ban discussion starts. So if you look under the offender's contribution list, you will have to search hard to find the ban discussion. Recently, it was changed to require only the block log, which is simple to find and link.
Clerk Groove Dog seems to understand the code F requirements as I do.
Disruptive socks and throwaway accounts do not require checkusers (per instructions box). Some of the requests are actually fit into those categories, though I tend to be diplomatic and don't say "look here, read the instructions, idiot. And stop bothering us".
Since I've started clerk duties in May, I haven't received any complaints from checkusers saying that my work is bad. In the same time, there has been at least one checkuser (person who runs the searchs) commenting about another clerk's clerknote (which said something like "correct this right away or it will be deleted").
I think transparency is usually the best policy. To this end, I rarely change stuff. I just add a clerknote.VK3520:23, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't mind about changing stuff or not doing so, I was just unsure as to the interpretation of that policy. Thanks for the reply! --ST47Talk21:59, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I put in a request for a new bot task here, and I'm so impatient it's ridiculous. :-) All my code's set up, and I'm just raring to try it out. Do you have a minute to look it over? I know it's finals week and all, but like I said, I'm just a chronically impatient person. Sorry! So what do you say? 00:42, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Hello there ST47! I was just looking over some cases at WP:SUSPSOCK and was wondering does the bot code also look for transclusions of {{sspa}}, not just {{SSPa}}? Some of the users there use it and was wondering as this might cause the bot some trouble. Regards, Etalk06:31, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
EBot2 has just been approved for trials and I don't yet have the toolserv account... Pretty disappointing as they did mention the update for new accounts was going to be last weekend. Etalk03:15, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I,Meldshal42; hereby award ST47 this barnstar for ridding Wikipedia of those disturbing "fake messages boxes". Also, I thank him for my moving my editor review. Congrats! Meldshal4210:01, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you want to hold the trials for the time being while waiting for my toolserv account? What would you need to start it up? If you need the username/password, I'll email it to you, and we will have to notify the WP:SUSPSOCK people to stop archiving them manually for the trials. Let me know what you need me to do, I'll be back on in the morning for just under one hour (I start work early on Wednesdays), hopefully you too so we can discuss through IRC. Thanks for your help. Etalk10:44, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure I can, I'd need the username and password (EN.WP.ST47@gmail.com) and we would have to notify both groups, and I can have someone approve a trial for the other bot. --ST47Talk11:20, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've corrected a configuration error, I think I was working off of old notes from when I did it manually, I've removed the force and hint parameters. ST4710:38, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I want to request a Checkuser for IP:64.131.205.111...He was blocked already but he seemed to come back again with another sock puppet called User:BoriquaStar..Could You Please Help Me Out???i dont know how this process works!EdwinCasadoBaez23:44, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I thought I had corrected all of those, as I mentioned, I had screwed up the configuration, I thought I fixed all the bot's edits. I shall go through the first few again. ST4714:02, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I'm showing my ignorance, but because the above user already had confirmed Sockpuppets I was under the impression I should not add him to the "Requests for Checkuser" page - I was just following the instructions (badly!) from "requests for checkuser/Case/SanchiTachi". User:Darkson(Yabba Dabba Doo!)15:11, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Yeah, it used to be that we add it to /Pending, but we decided a few days ago to change it, not all requests go to WP:RFCU. Thanks for the request, and keep an eye on it, incase we need anything, ST4715:13, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The CBS Records in the United States was founded in 2006 and has nothing to do with the CBS Records in Japanese which is defunct and is now Columbia Records. Please change the CBS Records article in Japanese to Columbia Records (American company). Steelbeard114:39, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just to let you know, the bot added a WikiProject banner to a redirect's talk page.[4] I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I thought I would let you know. -- Ned Scott03:53, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed. I didn't actually check each page, since that would take too long and too much bandwidth, I just check if it exists based on a red or blue link from the talk page. The redirect probably shouldn't have been categorized, I've corrected it. --ST47Talk12:25, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have been doing corrections of links to the Volapük Wikipedia with this bot; here is one of the latest changes, and here is another one. What should I do next to get a bot flag? --Smeira11:06, 19 June 2007 (UTC) (P.S.: I didn't see at first the 15-20 changes limit; I think I've done more than that.)[reply]
Well, you should register a bot account so you aren't editing from an IP, then go to WP:BRFA and follow those instructions and either myself or someone else will look at your sample edits and give you the flag. --ST47Talk12:27, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I already have registed a bot account -- it's SmeiraBot. It already is in my user-config.py file; the bot should be logging in on Wikipedia as SmeiraBot. Hasn't that happened? I gather it hasn't, judging by what you've said; should I dc something other than adding a 'usernames['wikipedia']['en'] = u'SmeiraBot' line to my user-config.py file? --Smeira20:24, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You need to do a 'python login.py -all', but usually it asks for a password if it tries to edit, and those two links you gave me are both anonymous. --ST47Talk20:48, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, please configure your bot so that it won't add the same links repeatedly in cases where human editors are removing them. Your bot (and others, unfortunately) are effectively revert-warring on Ingria. There is a consensus among editors of that page that a certain link, to the highly contentious "ru-sib" wikipedia, is not wanted. See meta:Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Siberian Wikipedia for background. Thank you, Fut.Perf.☼07:32, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Noted. I can't imagine why the bot would do the same page more than once, it certainly isn't supposed to. I probably started it at the same point more than once during trials. There is a {{nobots}} template, I think. --ST47Talk11:14, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah right, thanks. Let's hope the bots will obey your commandment. (I couldn't find if this was actually implemented in pywikipedia.) Of course it would be better if we could just ban this one bot action on the article, and not lose all the rest of potentially useful bot work with it... Fut.Perf.☼16:11, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, the bot messed up interwiki links in fi:Harri. There's article on no -wiki which is on same name (no:Harry) which causes problems. I went on and fixed all Harry -pages. --Harriv06:51, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK. The problem is that the bot checks to see what the other wikis are linking to, and in this case, there was a link somewhere to the bad pages. --ST47Talk11:20, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Since your user page doesn't say you have a page on meta wiki, lack of authentification proof, the endorsement submitted by that account will be removed. Just for your information. --Aphaia04:27, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi ST! I currently own SpebiBot, which substitutes {{unsigned}} and vandalism warnings on talk pages and archives. It doesn't seem like a very complicated task, and I would code it myself, but I am completely clueless when it comes to coding in Python. Would you be able to help me out? I'm not asking you to completely code the bot yourself (although that would be useful :P kidding), I'm asking for your assistance to help me code the bot myself.
If you have any concerns with the whole idea of the bot, reply on my talk page. Your help will be greatly appreciated! :) –Sebi ~11:25, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your bot that reports on current BRFA's appears to be down. There has been no edits to User:ST47/BAG since yesterday morning. Could you please investigate this? Etalk02:38, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I recently created a checkuser case but its not showing up on the main page. I don't know if I did something wrong or perhaps skipped a step or two. Can you take a look please [8]. Thanks VartanM03:18, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The number of useless edits, relative to useful ones, made by your bot is very high. Is it really necessary to have a bot which makes around 10 useful edits per day posting 96 useless ones as well? I don't even see the need for that page at all – you're the one who runs the bot, surely if it stops working you can tell this without having to look at a wiki page, and it's not much use to anyone else since in the event of a problem there's nothing they can do about it – Gurch11:55, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
SVG-format drawings of the .338 and .300 Lapua Magnum cartridge cases
I welcome your work on transforming .300 Lapua Magnum.jpg and .338 Lapua Magnum.jpg cartridge dimensional line-drawings from jpg-format to svg-format. Sadly the L, S, E, e, R and f measurements have not been clearly defined in your svg-drawings. The absent measurements defining arrows are important to engineers and gunsmiths, since they define important safety related dimensions! Text sometimes overwrites lines of the SVG-format line-drawings, making things less clear then it should be. I reverted the articles to the original CIP conform jpg-drawings to keep things clear and safe. If you want to correct the svg-drawings to conform to CIP standards please go forward. Dear ST47, there was no link in your message, only an empty [[]]. Was it on the bot request page that my comment was requested? I'll go there have a look. --Smeira17:36, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
P.S.: I've just been there, and I see that a BAG member has asked for comments, but I don't see exactly where to go, I couldn't find a direct link there. Where should I go? --Smeira17:51, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I remember doing an editor review a few weeks ago, and you said you might want to become an admin after final exams, and I said you should have no trouble sailing through RFA. dear st47, the page is protected so i cannot edit it myself, but you edited my irc text?
it started:
<oscar> i'll be quick
<oscar> yo all :-)
can you please restore this at least? also i think it is a pity you left out dmcdvit's comments in between, breaking up the real-time flow-feeling of an irc log, but that is perhaps cosmetics ;-) thx for posting and organizing the log into an easier to read version though! best regards, oscar20:52, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Oscar! Well, I meant to make it have more of a discussion feel than a log feel. I'm not an admin either, but I'll ask one to do it. Thanks for posting, --ST47Talk21:02, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it seems that the addition making news everywhere these days is the one about Chris Benoit, and the death of his wife in particular, that was reported in the form of an addition, apparently without a reliable source, from an annonymous author.
I cited DIRECT QUOTES from Ebay ITSELF in the last version of my additon, and you censored it.
This is further proof of your hypocricy, and selective censoring.
Yes, yes, you will defend this, with seemingly logical reasons, as one thing I have learned is that no matter how wrong someone may be there is always something more they can say anyway.
You Wiki-cult types are hypocrites, plain and simple.
Abacene
You seem to be talking about two things - I am not involved in Chris Benoit, and I don't know what you mean there. As for the EBay revert, I do recall a revert I made: The edit was, as I recall, regarding sellers abusing feedback. I don't think that the sources cited were clear enough to support the claim, and the claim itself had point of view issues. If you give me a diff, I'd be glad to review the edit? Thanks, --ST47Talk22:20, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for your participation in my recent RfB. Though it closed with 72% support (below the required 90%), I'm still quite pleased at the outpouring of support shown by a fair percentage of the community.

Hello ,
I created a text on the Aztec theatre (Aztec On The River) last week and I don´t see it in wikipedia yet. Did I do something wrong or is it a normal timing for a text to be published ?
