Merci beaucoup! C'est tres bien! -- roleplayer 15:17, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, you've remarked, that the AfD of the above article is listed now. Could you please inform me, where this should be. Thank you Mediatemple (talk) 09:50, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, you don't need to do anything more to it now. If you need to do it again in the future see How to list pages for deletion. Cheers! -- roleplayer 23:31, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi, thank's for your help (I think, I did it right, but it does'nt work right). Cheerio! Mediatemple (talk) 11:04, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree with you. We are both too efficient for our own good. :-D -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 00:11, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for adding that - I read half that article and didn't see any descriptions except "singer" and "gay rights activist". Didn't get to the quote where he called himself bisexual. <sheepish grin> -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 21:12, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

HEADSPUN

RolePlayer,

Headspun is very notible. The songwriter for the band, Imre, is in the works of working with Collective Soul's, Ed Roland. He has worked with Anthony J Resta, a Multi-Platinum and Gold Awarded music producer, and are one of the top rock bands out today. Search Google for "headspun imre".

Please consider this, thanks so much.

Jen Wilson http://www.myspace.com/headspunband —Preceding unsigned comment added by Headspun (talkcontribs) 23:01, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, please check WP:BAND, which may help you to provide evidence of notability, or it may help you to see why the article has been nominated for deletion. A google search on Headspun with Imre, returns just 21 unique hits, which is nowhere near as many as would be required to prove notability in this manner. -- roleplayer 23:05, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

RolePlayer,

What would you suggest? Would you rather have this as a User:Headspun page. Let me know what you prefer. Jen —Preceding unsigned comment added by Headspun (talkcontribs) 23:09, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

I think that sometimes you just have to accept that some things are not notable enough for an encyclopedia yet. I would wait and see what happens when the album is released in November, see if that attracts any major media attention, and maybe revisit it then. -- roleplayer 23:13, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

RolePlayer,

It was already approved as User:Headspun. I switched it today, could you switch it back to that for now. There's no doubt famous is about to follow very soon.

Reply. See see hatnote

Hi, the sentence:

For the re-founded see, see Bishop of Lindisfarne (modern) (at Bishop of Lindisfarne (Saxon)

is grammatically correct, as the first see in the sentence is a noun describing an Episcopal see, or an ecclesiastical domain of a bishop. -- roleplayer 23:11, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Oops! My apologies for mistakenly breaking proper grammar at Bishop of Lindisfarne (Saxon). Though it's not actually a hatnote as such, the line basically serves a purpose as though it were... and "see see" typos are extremely common in hatnotes. The "see see" hatnote is actually what drew my attention to the article to begin with. Would you object to marking the area (between the see's) with a <!-- duplicate --> comment to help prevent other editors (like myself) from accidentally tampering with it again? -- WikHead (talk) 04:29, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for your message. How about as an alternative raiding a thesaurus for a synonym for the second see? "Go to", for example? -- roleplayer 19:28, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

declined speedy deletion. Sufficinet context was present to see it was a song produced by Phil Collins. Billboard shows it charted in the top 100 for 8 weeks. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 21:30, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

OK, my bad! Cheers. -- roleplayer 21:34, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
No problem. Dlohcierekim 21:35, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

I just wanted to leave you a note to say that I declined the speedy deletion tag on the above-noted article -- although I understand why you tagged it, 100%, and I nearly missed the notability myself. It took me a minute to see that buried within the terribly-formatted material was the assertion that he was the 12th president of Turkey, which is enough of an assertion of notability that I had to decline. I'm not sure how to clean up the formatting, but I hope the article's creator will work at it for all our sakes. My apologies for second-guessing you. Accounting4Taste:talk 21:31, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Just to let you know, there is no supporting evidence from google to suggest that this guy was ever notable. This is unless there is a serious spelling error. Before nominating it for speedy I checked with google, and the full name (Bora Mehmet Turan) gets just two hits, one of which is Wikipedia, and "Bora Turan" with "president" gets 13 unique hits. -- roleplayer 21:31, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
PS president of Turkey between 1993 and 2000 was Süleyman Demirel. -- roleplayer 21:33, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
See my talk page -- you were absolutely right, all the evidence contradicts the assertion, so I'm deleting it as a hoax. Thanks for your courtesy and your efforts, and again, I'm sorry to have contradicted you even for a few minutes. Accounting4Taste:talk 21:35, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Good faith

I'm commenting here, rather than at User talk:Jimbo online because it's going off on a tangent and that user doesn't need to be bombarded with random messages. I quote: however, when the editor chooses to write it as Jimbo[online] then I believe that is a deliberate attempt to deceive readers that Jimbo (Wales) is now online ( by WWGB (talk · contribs)). In no way is that assuming good faith. It is, in fact, assuming that the editor is deliberately trying to impersonate Jimbo Wales, when they as a user have tried to do nothing of the sort. That is assuming bad faith, and it is clear from the user's earlier comments on the same subject that all this approach is achieving is putting them on the defensive. -- roleplayer 12:10, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

I composed the line before I saw that late-breaking concept-breaking comment ... an unfortunate one and I'll attribute it to a knee-jerk reaction to Jimbo online's uncooperativeness. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 12:12, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Re your comment, We've seen plenty of people who are surprised or offput by the rules and norms of behavior that exist here - yes, I'm one of them. I've been editing since 2003 (since 2006 with a username) and more than half of what goes on still goes totally over my head. -- roleplayer 12:25, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi Severo, I've come over from WP:BUCKS because it's a bit quiet and cobwebby over there. I've just created an assessment scale using the standard grades and an adopted level of importance according to what WP:Somerset do. Before I fire away and start assessing articles according to this scale, can you take a look and give me some feedback on the importance ratings? Cheers. -- roleplayer 12:55, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm not keen on importance criteria because it's all a bit subjective, but for my money, Buckinghamshire, Aylesbury, Buckingham, Milton Keynes and High Wycombe are the top priorities, the articles of Foo in Buckinghamshire are less important. But, I don't really have strong preference. Cheers, SeveroTC 13:06, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

The bit about the pronunciation of Olney is actually referenced. Twice. You have made it quite clear that you don't like the fact that some people mispronounce the name of the town, but the fact is that people do and it is a valid and verifiable piece of information. Stop removing it from the article, or next time I will start leaving you warnings for vandalism. -- roleplayer 21:37, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

References do not, in themselves, provide confirmation of truth. Read some David Hume, you arrogant twit. People mispronounce, or mispell, many things - that isn't 'proof' that anything goes! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gkmacca (talkcontribs)
That's fine, but Wikipedia is about verifiability, not truth. --McGeddon (talk) 10:18, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

That's why it causes so much confusion. Verifying is one thing; editorialising is another. Describing something erroneous as being acceptable is an abuse of a reader's trust. One can 'verify' all kinds of critical asserions about wikipedia, in the sense that one can find a source - that shouldn't justify presenting all of such assertions as worthy of respect. Should it?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Gkmacca (talkcontribs) 11:34, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Both references state quite clearly that both pronunciations are acceptable. Someone has included in the article (not me by the way) that there are two ways to pronounce the town name, and two very reliable references have been provided that verify that as fact. Unless you can provide some equally verifiable references that support your point of view that the second pronunciation is wrong, then the information must be included to help retain a neutral point of view. Finally please do not call me an arrogant twit, and read Wikipedia policy on personal attacks. Thank you. -- roleplayer 12:42, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Eden, High Wycombe

I've been thinking about the importance rating too - is it a well-known centre nationally? The only references provided in the article were local ones, hence why the mid-importance rather than high-importance rating. -- roleplayer 13:59, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

As I live in High Wycombe, I am not really sure. I only know of local references as my local paper (the Bucks Free Press) is full of them. It may not have many national references yet due to its age (only 4 months old). If I find any national references, I'll put them on and maybe change the rating. Chesham Mosque

Hey there, I removed the prod from Chesham Mosque after I cleaned it up and added a picture and reference. I found the newspaper article via a simple google search. You probably should do a simple search before you nominate an article for deletion.--Thomas.macmillan (talk) 00:02, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

I did do a search on google, and could find nothing that set this mosque apart from other mosques in the country. IMO places of worship need something more than just the local paper report of their opening to verify notability, and I note that the proposed policy on places of worship agrees. -- roleplayer 00:07, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

It is of interest to walton street, the site of the old malt house, within the grounds of the bed and breakfast is the last remaining barn, there was no website address and no links, I was going to add a photo of the barn. Not sure what i did wrong—Preceding unsigned comment added by Aztecflooring (talkcontribs) 16:39, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
It was quite blatantly written as an advert for the bed and breakfast, and not at all written from a neutral point of view. If it is of interest to and notable within Walton then that's fine but that's not the way you wrote it. -- roleplayer 16:53, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Speedy deletion of Eleven-ball

Surely blatant misinformation comes under WP:CSD#G3? It was the original uploader of the article after all who added to the PROD that he did indeed make it up that day. -- roleplayer 13:59, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it does, but there seen to be a few (non-notable) games that are called "eleven-ball", and this seems to be an existing variant. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 14:01, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi Thierry,

Thank you for translating the above article that you created at French Wikipedia into English. I haven't cleaned up the grammar yet, but will do when I have a spare moment. It was me that uploaded the picture of the house as it appeared in 1872, which I found when I was doing research into my cousin Harriet Howard (fourth cousin three times removed or something). The modern day image is also very enlightening, however was it the front porch of the house itself, or the gatehouse? Once again thank you very much.

-- roleplayer 11:02, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

PS how do you pronounce La Celle-Saint-Cloud? -- roleplayer 11:03, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi Roleplayer
Thanks for correcting my translation which need it. The picture you uploaded shows the north facade, the picture I took yesterday shows the ruins of the central front building, on the south facade where the house main door was. You can also see picture of the whole ruins in 1956 and in 1960 on this website.
For the prununciation, hard for me to explain it in english... Let's try : La (the same sound than in the name Lara or Lafayette / Celle (like sel or selle in french, like (to) sell in english) / Saint (like saint in english but without pronuncing the t) / Cloud (like clou in french or clue in english but not cloud in english). Something like that.

Milton Keynes Bingo Halls

Hi,

hopefully you don't mind me leaving you a message! I recently updated the Milton Keynes wikipage with a link to local bingo halls in Milton Keynes, but I think you removed it because it did not comply with Wikipedia's external link terms? In my opinion a local directory of bingo halls does not qualify as advertising, but if you could perhaps give me some more information about how it does then I'd be really grateful. Thanks, HollyJoy (talk) 15:33, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

You may not have intended the link you added to be spam, but that's what it is. Bingo is not referred to in the article once, and so the link can only be an attempt to get people to follow it on the offchance that they're going to be interested in that subject. Wikipedia is not a collection of external links. -- roleplayer 02:14, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Sir Timothy Alborn

needs to be speedied asap its a complete hoax - fabrication and rubbish - no such person exists or has ever worked for the west australian newspaper SatuSuro 02:09, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Nice catch! I was just about to put a CSD G2 template on there myself - a PROD is a friendlier gesture :) Cheers, Paxse (talk) 11:34, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm in a friendly mood today.  :-p -- roleplayer 11:35, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

This article seems like it may be a personal attack, so I tagged it as such. It's hard to say if the people are real, but I think we almost have to assume that they at least might be real people, and hence this might be an attack page. If I'm wrong somehow, feel free to take off the attack template. 71.61.220.126 (talk) 16:02, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

OK cool. Well it's been deleted now anyway. -- roleplayer 17:41, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

The main reason for my speedy deletion nomination is the spelling error in the title. In fact the uploading article creator themselves appears to have noticed this, and has since created a correctly spelled The satyr play and euripides' the cyclops, which has not been nominated for deletion. -- roleplayer 15:02, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Done. Thanks for the note. Deleted as G6.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:05, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

PROD notice at Barlestone Primary School

Hi, while I agree that the article on the above primary school probably should be deleted, it was not good procedure to re-add the PROD notice after the creating user had removed it. By right anyone can remove a PROD without further discussion, and the next stage then would have been to take it to afd. I notice that you have now done this, and it's all water under the bridge now. But just so you know for future reference. -- roleplayer 18:19, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Neal Golden

I declined speedy deletion of Neal Golden as notability is asserted (for example, the author of the first computing science textbook, various teaching awards), though the references are poor. If you feel this article lacks notability you might try AfD. Euryalus (talk) 04:43, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

OK thank you for letting me know. -- roleplayer 11:58, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Mark D. Naison

The article is still in the process of being edited. It appears that the user forgot to include an under construction tag. A speedy deletion is premature, I believe.Ubothell1 (talk) 05:24, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

At the time that it was added the speedy deletion tag was wholly appropriate: I first saw the article two and a half hours after it was last edited, and it didn't pass muster at that time. I will continue to watch it, and if after a couple of days it has still seen no improvement I will consider what to do then. -- roleplayer 12:01, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to review the article I posted about "mynority". I do believe that it could be considered a COI however I have made sure to stay neutral in the article. This is my first entry to wikipedia; if you can give me some pointers and help me clean that article up a little bit that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.—Preceding unsigned comment added by chriswburke (talkcontribs) 16/11/2008 02:25 (UTC)

Many thanks for your email. In my experience when the temptation for writing about people you know arises avoid it. If they're notable enough, other people will write about them. If people don't write about them, they're probably not notable. That's mainly why conflict of interest is a bad thing - you can't really tell what is and isn't notable, if the subject forms a major part of your own life. -- roleplayer 02:35, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Email from Stiivyn

Hello

I am sorry that I appear to be vandalising. I am trying to start a new page about the town of Aguadulce in Almería, Spain (as different from the village of Aguadulce in Seville, Spain, which does have already its own entry).
