[edit]If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Mynority, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
- avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. -- roleplayer 01:57, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- Many thanks for your email. In my experience when the temptation for writing about people you know arises avoid it. If they're notable enough, other people will write about them. If people don't write about them, they're probably not notable. That's mainly why conflict of interest is a bad thing - you can't really tell what is and isn't notable, if the subject forms a major part of your own life. -- roleplayer 02:33, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
I totally agree. However this article was not written by myself, I also made sure to remove anything that was not from a neutral standpoint. I'm sort of playing a proxy in this one; only the paper boy. So while I do agree that it would be considered COI I'm confident that I'm only presenting factual, neutral information not biased in any way. The Subject has notability on a regional level. I'm sure someone else will take this article up in due time, I was asked why there wasn't an entry and decided to publish this.
A tag has been placed on Mynority requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Nuttah (talk) 17:42, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
