Fight the Blues

Just wanted to inquire about the single status of "Fight the Blues", as you are wrong in that no source refers to it as a single. Oricon does (see http://music.oricon.co.jp/php/music/MusicTop.php?music=80312 ). It specifically refers to it as "シングル."SanctuaryX (talk) 00:09, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

That database calls every individual track a single, even Celebrate or Gentle Beast Interlude. Yep. I love manga, but I have no talent whatsoever when it comes to drawing, so I thought I'll write a story instead. It's a comedy, drama, romance, parody thing. The main character is a widower, who falls in love with a girl 27 years younger than he is. And, all these crazy things he does to get her attention. Namie Amuro

Sempai, don't you think we need to clean her articles up? I've tried removing blogs and other unreliable sites, but there are lots of statements which use them as a reference. Unless we find a replacement (which is reliable, of course) for them, they must be removed (even users on Jpopcentral are starting to feel that fansites and blogs are too much!) Btw, how are you? I haven't heard from you in a while. I discovered some very good artists this month, like Rimi Natsukawa, Kazumasa Oda, KinKi Kids, KOKIA (through Ayatsuri Sakon), Dragon Ash :) Do you listen to them too? @Ryoga Godai: Well, most of her stuff is pretty good so it would be a good idea to simply try any of her anime opening or ending themes. Too bad she doesn't seem to be very popular in Japan anymore, and based on my recent trip to Japan it seems her CDs are usually out of stock (not because they sell well but because the inventory is gone). @Narutolovehinata5: Hmm, I just checked her article and saw that she performed the ED for Hayate no Gotoku. It sounds pretty good. That's the drawback when you're marketed towards a particular audience, say anime. And most of the time, the events they perform at are also connected to this industry, which does little to improve their career. And audiences interests keep on changing, and Japan, from what I've seen and heard love "moe" or whatever you call it, so they always have someone new to follow. Am I right sempai? Japan English sources

The problem is that these pop blogs in Japan don't follow a print book MOS, which en.wikipedia does. They aren't serious sources for MOS issues. So an edit like this simply says that a blog source with no WP:MOSCAPS carries over the CAPS FOR ENGLISH used as a stylism among katana in Japanese. That's not a blog, Barks is one of the largest music media news outlets in Japan and a member of JASRAC, I think only Natalie and Rockin'on are the only other larger sites entirely dedicated to music. It had a large staff, large readership and a massive coverage; I'm not really sure how you could find a better source in English for this content. Help!

Hey sempai! Please help me out! I'm currently working on SMAP's discography and I'm almost done. The Japanese Wikipedia article has a lot of "limited" sales/distribution titles (配信限定 / 期間限定販売, オンライン限定). Also, some instrumental albums (which were not recorded by SMAP). What should I do about them? Which section should I put them under? Please help me out sempai!! Ryoga (talk) 03:51, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

It depends on how limited they were! If something was specifically called a digital single, then put it in there, but if it was a small release vinyl/preceding download from a release, it's better to list them as promotional singles. If it was a fanclub exclusive, it might be better not to mention it at all (but it all depends on the specifics).

If the album was released officially under the SMAP name then it should be compiled there, but if it's not then that's a tribute album that shouldn't be a part of it (as SMAP had no part of it). --Prosperosity (talk) 04:26, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Happy Happy SMAP: I'd personally put it under promotional singles with n/a for the source album, but that's not the greatest place since it wasn't really a song promoting anything. Either there or no mention at all; they're not a very important part of their discography.

Merry Happy SMAP, Chanto, Are You, Running: same.

Gift: promo single with n/a, if it charted.

50: box set. Either in a box set category, or you could lump it into the compilation albums.

Promotional singles for me is anything that should be called a single but isn't, was used to promote a release, had a bunch of radio play in relation to an album or something (so not incidental radio play like how Ashita Haru ga Kitara came back every spring), probably had a music video and was probably released digitally before an album. --Prosperosity (talk) 03:23, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

Digital singles should go into the singles section, if they've been called a single by the official website, Oricon or music media; and if they haven't then into the promo singles section. The page for sales can be printed out and scanned and then uploaded on Mediafire.com. Then they can be used. That's just not correct. We don't have to scan books that we source with the exact passage; we just need to reference material in a correct manner (e.g. listing the passage, page and edition for print material, the publisher, etc). I completely agree with Prosperosity and have restored the sales information on Alexandra Stan discography. References do not need to be instantly accessible by every reader for them to be reliable. Book sources and subscription-based content is just as reliable as instant-access web sources, it's the entire reason Template:Subscription required exists for use in references. Hmmmmmmmmmm......all of the old links seem to be archived, and they're just taken directly from the magazines, so you could cite the magazine .pdf (e.g. look at the 2002年3月 positions, then grab the 'GOLD ALBUM 他認定作品 2002年3月度' web archive .pdf link from my list, double check the info's there and use that? Use of IPA for Japanese

Hello! I just started a discussion about this at MOS-ja... I realise you have been putting work into generating these IPA transcriptions, but I really think that they are not helpful. (Even I can't read some of it, like the c-cedilla thingy for 'hi'). I would like to get some consensus rather than just going round removing them... but there are actually lots of errors, which it is very hard to spot casually. See also my edit to Sakanaction: the point is that the kanji for fish tells us nothing about the Yamato-kotoba word. Anyway, look forward to your input. Misunderstanding of how the Heatseekers Albums chart works

I just saw this edit summary of yours on Unknown Mortal Orchestra. You appear to be under the impression that once an act charts one album on the Billboard 200, any future albums of theirs are ineligible to chart on the Heatseekers Albums chart. That's not the case at all. If an album fails to appear on the Billboard 200, it can appear on the Heatseekers Albums chart no matter what it is—it does not matter if the act has previously appeared on the Billboard 200 at all. For instance, that view is contradicted by looking at this week's Heatseekers Albums chart: True Meanings by Paul Weller is at number 10, but previously appeared on the Billboard 200 with Sonik Kicks in 2012. Typically people list Oricon positions on albums/EP listings since the chart is better sourced (down to 300 positions, plus an easily searchable database), though there's no issues listing Hot Albums as well (it's more comprehensive, but it's only been around for three years). You might want to update the MOS though -- I was told by Heolkpop (hope you don't mind if I mention you because this is important to bring up) that SoundScan is no longer publishing their charts directly and their numbers are used through Billboard Japan. Flashdance soundtrack references in Japanese

Hello--I'm working on expanding the Flashdance soundtrack page and going through what's currently there very thoroughly so that everything meets the standards that reviewers use when looking at it. There are four references there in Japanese (5, 18, 31, and 32), and I was wondering if you could help me with updating them. Number 5 redirects to a chart for 1982, but Flashdance came out in 1983. I tried the link for the original, but it just goes to the Big Globe home page. The archive link on number 18 is good, but the original just redirects to the So-net home page. Same with 31, except the original redirects me to a YouTube channel. 32 just gives me the RIAJ certifications home page. If you would be able to fix these so that they're all in working order, I'd really appreciate it.
