The Half Barnstar
YOU ARE AMAZING! Football Europe (talk) 17:27, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

Dear Chrissymad,

I do not agree with your speedy deletion of my article: “Keesy Adrian Main (footballer, born 1993)”

This article is not a recreation or a duplicate.

I have completely changed the text. I've also added good references. What should I do to fix my article and not be deleted?

Why is the article about Harly Wise accepted in Wikipedia?

And the article about Keesy Adrian Main not?

They are similar football players.

Can I post another article about this football player?

What should I do to post my article?

Thanks in advance for your response!

Sincerely, Football Europe — Preceding unsigned comment added by Football Europe (talkcontribs) 17:37, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

Revert on Equipment rental

Just to let you know, I took a look at your recent revert on the article Equipment rental. I guess it was a "rollback" of multiple edits. (I didn't think that I deleted those refs in my cleanup edit.) Apparently some other editors deleted those refs for being out-of-date. I don't really have an opinion about that, but repeated copyedit and cleanup on the article, and slapped a 'needs updating' maintenance template on it. There was some uncited 2016 data that I 'rescued' and put on the talk page, in case some other editor might find a citation for it and include it in the future. – Reidgreg (talk) 13:22, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Regarding your recent request

Hello, thank you for your message

Unfortunately, I was unable to find any violation of guidelines of wikipedia. Would you mind posting the precise violation from the wikipedia rules?

This is how wikipedia regards quotations -

Quotations are a fundamental part of Wikipedia articles. Quotations—often informally called "quotes"—provide information directly; quoting a brief excerpt from an original source can sometimes explain things better and less controversially than trying to explain them in one's own word.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Quotations

As such, it is absolutely not worthy of removal, and is in fact, highly productive and necessary.

Thanks.

Probity22 Per what you've linked and my own prod: Wikipedia is not a list or repository of loosely associated topics such as quotations. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 23:54, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
Regarding the claim made by the user 'Chrissymad' above, I present this -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI%27s_100_Years...100_Movie_Quotes
This page lists the top 100 movie quotations in American cinema.
Therefore, there is no violation. Wikipedia does list quotations.
Thank you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Probity22 (talkcontribs) 01:11, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
Probity22, you're really comparing two different things here. AFI was celebrating 100 years of being around, and they produced a series of documentaries and videos commemorating that fact. It received widespread attention in multiple news sources.
If Wikipedia had a generic list of "Famous Movie Quotes" it would be deleted within a day, because there is no encyclopaedic value. But the article you linked to is about one specific list by a specific company who happened to be celebrating a milestone. The quotes are necessary to provide detail. If I said something about Islam on my blog, could I include it on Quotations on Islam? Of course not. You've made your case, but really the only place you'll be able to change minds is at the deletion discussion itself.
Also, as a side note, when leaving a talk page comment, please end your post with ~~~~, which will automatically add your name so that others know who is commenting. Thanks! Primefac (talk) 11:44, 13 June 2017 (UTC) (talk page stalker)
Primefac, see this page -
List of quotes featuring Berlin -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_quotes_featuring_Berlin
So we have pages about quotations on wikipedia. Also, "If I said something about Islam on my blog, could I include it" - No, as that would be a different case. This article is regarding quotes by notable, influential individuals. And yes, I have already presented the case on the deletion discussion page. Should I remove this discussion? Thanks. Probity22 (talk) 11:54, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
Probity22, that page has also been nominated for deletion, so your argument is kind of falling apart. Regardless, please see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS for why continually saying "but this page exists!" is a pointless argument. We treat every Wikipedia page on its own merits; we don't keep (or delete) one page simply because another exists. Primefac (talk) 12:29, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

Request on 15:13:48, 13 June 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by Galilite

Hi Chrissymad,

Thank you for your review. You mention that "everything is sourced from their website", and it's not the case. There are references to Bloomberg, etc.

As per notability, it certainly is referenced a lot by "secondary sources", they are just not very informative or up to date. Simply google Aspect Software. It'd be surprising if it weren't; it's one of the largest companies in its area employing 2,000 people all over the world. It's also referenced in the German Wikipedia.

It's interesting that smaller companies that it acquired, like Voxeo or LinguaSys that was employing barely 10 people, are considered more notable and are all referenced in Wikipedia.

Will it help if events like financial issues are added?

Football Europe, Adrian Main was deleted following this deletion discussion, where it was almost unanimously (minus yourself) decided that Main did not meet the criteria for inclusion on Wikipedia. Until such time as these concerns are met, Wikipedia will not have an article about Main. Just because articles on other footballers may exist doesn't meant this one automatically exists. Facebook as a reliable reference for railway articles

Hi,

I've reverted your edits to the articles on a handful of Victorian Railways (and successors) passenger carriages.

In the context of these articles, the specific facebook posts *are* reliable.

First off, a source has to be hypothetically accessible, not actually accessible, so if you can't see the posts I linked to that's up to you to resolve. The groups I generally link to are Victorian Railway Enthusiasts and Vicsig.

Second, within those groups there are quite a few reliable people (employees) who post details and/or photos as evidence, as well as people who have published books in the past and use Facebook to post updates. Their choice to use Facebook as a medium does not change the validity of the content. Generally speaking, where I've used Facebook references in my tables, the purpose is to be able to trace who said what and when, because the FB archiving system is pathetic and other sites, like VicSig, do not have the capacity (for now) to retain historic data; they can only display current information, which is useless to historians in the period 1986-(pre)current where not much was published.

Anothersignalman (talk) 14:18, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

That said, one of your edits merged a lot of references together via a bot. Not sure how you did that but I'd be interested to learn and restore that to the pages. Anothersignalman (talk) 14:19, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Anothersignalman Expert, employee or otherwise, FB groups are not a reliable source and they are not a published source. Anyone can make a FB profile, anyone can make a FB group and anyone can claim to be any of those people. A closed group is not up to me to resolve. It is WP:OR. It does not look like any consensus was ever reached in that noticeboard section you linked and until such a time it is established, I would not recommend adding them back. Review of my article

Hello,

You recently reviewed my article about "Robert Israel" and it was rejected based on your thoughts about notability. Could you please give me specific ways to fix the article, instead of directing me to what Wiki says is notable? I think I submitted a proper article and I'd like your opinion as to what to fix. Thank you. Adam Adam Rotenberg (talk) 17:56, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

So this is about fairness…

Hi Chrissymad or Primefac,

If you think you're honest, give me good tips to post the article.

Last time, you said that I should come up with good evidence.

I did that in the new article, but you deleted it.

Then tell me what to do?

Thanks! Football Europe — Preceding unsigned comment added by Football Europe (talkcontribs) 19:16, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Football Europe, here's the issue. We have two general guidelines regarding notability of footballers. The first (and most important) is the General Notability Guideline. I'll get to that in a sec. The second is at WP:NFOOTY, which states that players who are not in a Top Tier (e.g. Liga I) are not "automatically" notable, and thus GNG must be met.
To demonstrate a subject has met GNG, they must have significant coverage in independent reliable sources. This means things like articles about his history, his playing background (i.e. "his life"). Let's take a look at the references you provided in your last attempt.
  • [1] - Game summary, where Main is mentioned as having "helped out" - no significant coverage
  • [2] - This is just a list of players. Again, no significant coverage.
  • [3] - This one is a little better, as it actually gives some information about Main, but it's still not the depth of coverage we'd prefer. However, it is a decent source, so this could be used to verify his nationality, his goal scoring, or the award he won.
  • [4] - Another game summary.
Basically, you've definitely proven that this chap exists. However, Wikipedia is not a yellow pages or a listing of every person who has ever lived. Some people just won't ever be notable. Will you or I or Chrissymad ever do enough to merit an article? Probably not. Will Main? Maybe. If he keeps playing footy and keeps doing well he'll eventually receive that "significant coverage" that we look for.
So let's go back to what we're looking for - sources. Think about it this way - if the subject is mentioned (by name) less than three times in an article, it's not significant coverage (it might be reliable coverage, but we need both to demonstrate notability). No significant coverage, no article. It's as simple as that.
If you can find these sources and if that means you've demonstrated notability, then I would suggest working on the draft in your sandbox. However, do NOT submit it for review until you have at least two sources which have significant coverage.
I encourage you to continue working on your sandbox draft, but I also want you to consider the possibility that Main may never actually meet our criteria for inclusion. There are other footballers out there, maybe write (or improve) articles on them? Either way, I suggest sandboxing (or using the Article Wizard so that a reviewer can take a look at your work. Primefac (talk) 12:57, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

I edited Noor Khan Page

I edited Noor khan Page which was disambiguation. But this is a name of real Pakistani Actress. And I want to make it a real page instead of disambiguation.

So, tell me how to make it a real page (an article) Please help me make it an article — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arbaz1528 (talkcontribs) 13:55, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Arbaz1528, the draft in your sandbox is looking pretty good, though you'll need some more reliable sources that talk about her in detail. I've added a sandbox template to the page, which has a "submit your draft for review" button on it. When you feel it's ready, just click that button and follow the directions, and a reviewer will give feedback (if required) on how to further improve the page. If you want more help, stop by the Teahouse, Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 13:03, 21 June 2017 (UTC) (talk page stalker)

This is Barb Hullihen. I thank you for your prompt review of my:drafted page: Draft:The Harry R. Horvitz Center for Palliative Medicine I do need help. I went through the wikipedia adventure to make sure I understand the requirements for submitting an articel in wikipedia. I wanted to start over using a neutral voice and steering clear or conflict of interest. I did used to work at the Cleveland Clinic but I no longer do. I wonder how can I avoid this suggestion of conflict again?? Any suggestions.

Initially I placed only one reference but I have many more references and publications about the HRH Ctr. It was one of the first of it's kind in the US and it as the first recognized by the WHO in the US as dedicated to palliative care in an in-patient setting. I can of course start poating these refrences, I simply wanted to start simply and then edit as I write more text.

Do you suggest I jsut start in the Teahouse with these questions???

B. Hullihen B. Hullihen (talk) 16:11, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

B. Hullihen, you say you have more references that talk about the Center. I highly suggest adding them to the draft, and including what they say (in your own words!) to flesh out the page a bit more. Remember that the best sources are ones that are NOT directly connected to the Center (so a review/story/etc by a newspaper is good, a piece by a donor/member/sponsor/etc is not). This shows that people have "taken note" of the Center and it's not just another clinic. You're always welcome to ask individual editors such as Chrissymad or myself for more advice, and there is also the the Teahouse, Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk. I was wondering why the submission for Blueshift Labs was not considered notable despite the citations from Venturebeat, MarketingLand, Martechtoday, Internet Retailer and Mediapost - all of these are detailed articles. I happened to come across your user page while patrolling recent changes (to be more specific, while trying to stop the vandal who has been harassing user 72, which is pretty sad since he's a very dedicated and diligent patroller). Just wanted to notify you that I created an AFD log using your format. Hope you dont mind it! I thought I'd let you know since I didn't want to use the format without due credit to the creator :) Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 12:53, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

WikiCup 2017 July newsletter

The third round of the competition has finished in a flurry of last minute activity, with 288 points being required to qualify for round 4. It was a hotly competitive round with all but four of the contestants exceeding the 106 points that was necessary to proceed to round 4 last year. Coemgenus and Freikorp tied on 288, and both have been allowed to proceed, so round 4 now has one pool of eight competitors and one of nine.

Round 3 saw the achievement of a 26-topic Featured topic by MPJ-DK as well as 5 featured lists and 13 featured articles. PanagiotisZois and SounderBruce achieved their first ever featured articles. Carbrera led the GA score with 10, Tachs achieved 17 DYKs and MBlaze Lightning 10 In the news items. There were 167 DYKs, 93 GARs and 82 GAs overall, this last figure being higher than the number of GAs in round 2, when twice as many people were taking part. Even though contestants performed more GARs than they achieved GAs, there was still some frustration at the length of time taken to get articles reviewed.

As we start round 4, we say goodbye to the fifteen or so competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them (some people have fallen foul of this rule and the points have been removed).

If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hi , and firstly thanks for recently improving my article so it may be accepted . I am happy for any changes which make this a better article . when you last reviewed draft Libby Birch there is now a review in progress notation saying i shouldnt touch it for 12 hours but that has lapsed ? will i just leave it all now and does this take time to be passed through the administrator or is there something else that i should do at this time . thanks again Gregb kennedy kennedygregb (talk) 00:05, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

Kennedygregb, Chrissymad has marked the page under review so that she can work on it a bit, clean it up, etc and hopefully get it to an acceptable state. Sometimes "in review" templates sit there for a while. You're welcome to make constructive changes during this period, just note that if you see a lot of activity by her it's probably best to stay out of the way ;) I'm sure she also appreciates the reminder, since she's a busy lass and often forgets where she puts things :p Primefac (talk) 00:10, 30 June 2017 (UTC) (talk page stalker)

08:45:13, 5 July 2017 review of submission by Rachelmurrayliu

Hi Chrissymad,

I wanted to double check what you meant by " This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified."

I asked on the LiveChat help, and the admins there weren't sure what about it you found unsourced in particular.

They did suggest removing the inline text hyperlinks such as "The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment" and "FON Project"?

Is that what you were referring to, or did I have other mistakes too?

Thanks for your time.

Hi,
This was my first attempt to move a page with round robin move, and I messed up. The discussion can be found here. In the process, I did some mistake. The page has been successfully moved from Wilson's Heart to Wilson's Heart (House), but it ended up with a redirect page: Wilson's Heart (House) temp. Not sure where I went wrong. A7

You place an A7 notability speedy deletion tag on Ajeet Aryan Sharma. You should know by now that all members of a legislature are considered notable here. DGG ( talk ) 02:58, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

DGG, while normally this is true, I can find almost no evidence this person even exists, let alone is an elected member of a legislature. I, too, could write an article about Joe Bloggs, the MP from Worcestershire, but that has about as much truth as this article seemingly does. If you find evidence of his membership (which I can't even find on the party's own page, and they seem to list everyone), I'm more than willing to reverse the deletion. Primefac (talk) 03:21, 9 July 2017 (UTC) (talk page stalker)
If you don't think the person exists, why do you think they are not notable? If they don't exist or haven't done what they said, then the reason for deletion is as a hoax. But that's not obvious, so it has to go to AfD. You reinstated an A7 after I declined it, and no matter whether you are ultimately right, that is not a legitimate way to proceed. DGG ( talk ) 03:50, 9 July 2017 (UTC) .
Fair point. Plus, a G4 deletion is a lot easier to do than constantly re-A7'ing. Primefac (talk) 04:00, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
DGG I do know better, however there's been a spate of declines recently for tagging *people* as hoaxes since "living people can't be hoaxes". However, this was deleted less than 24 hours prior by Bbb23 as A7 for the same article and nearly identical content. When looking at A7, do we not apply CCS? In this case, there was nothing credible about it and therefor a7 could apply. And also, in this case I agree with the hoax tag because on the 4th the same editor created Ajeet Aryan who is a "blogger". Believe it or not, I do my "homework" before applying tags. And for what it's worth, now after looking a little deeper, it appears his profession isn't the only thing that changes, but his name too. 1, 2CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 14:01, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Perhaps I should have look further myself; perhaps it would have helped had you said some of this in the nomination. I will look at the author's work in case he isn't blocked already. DGG ( talk ) 14:30, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
I didn't realize the last part of the issue until today however when tagging with Twinkle there is no ability to add a reason unless you do custom (which is pretty much declined 99% of the time regardless of content in the CSD) I'd imagine the reviewing admin would be able to see the history as well. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:28, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
You could do a custom reason and then start off with [[WP:A7|A7]]: no claim of significance, plus.... Just a thought. Primefac (talk) 18:32, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Pretty much a guaranteed decline, given my experienced. In any case, as I said previously, it was not credible so failed the second C in CCS. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 19:08, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

JIA SIPA Two reasons, one it was incredibly promotional and two it was a copyright violation. Please also see WP:COI. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 16:17, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Could you elaborate? What was exactly a copyright violation, all info was taken from our website. Additionally, what was promotional? All I added was the current editorial board and notable contributors JIA SIPA (talk) 16:21, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

JIA SIPA "all info was taken from our website."...that's the copyvio. Articles are based on what independent reliable sources have said about the subject and not what the subject says about itself. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 16:23, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but we are a very reputable journal in the academia, there was nothing promotional about what we said, we simply mentioned the facts, such as the new editorial board. We edited the name of the current editor in chief. We added the logo of our journal, and we added notable contributors. I can provide sources for all of this, in that case will you let me update the page? No promotion here just want the page to be updated, we really do not need promotion, we are an NGO, the editors are not paid, neither are the contributors. There is no personal interest here. JIA SIPA (talk) 16:33, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello Praxidicae, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
  • Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.

Technology update:

  • Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
  • The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:

GTISC

Chrissy, I noticed that you reverted all of Georgia Tech's edits to the GTISC page. This page was horribly outdated by more than two years and inaccurate; the unit has been absorbed into another, and the GTISC website redirected to the proper home within the gatech.edu domain. We are trying to inform the public of GTISC's change and leave an accurate record on Wikipedia. This is not promotional. We are simply correcting what is no longer accurate. I'm going to undo your changes again and move an external link to the proper place on the page. I appreciate your understanding. Thank you. CyberBuzz GA (talk) 15:32, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Conjuring Fate speedy deletion

Hi Chrissymad! I've reviewed the speedy deletion tag on the Conjuring Fate article, and I'm not quite sure it meets the G11 or G12 criteria. There appears to be significant amounts of content that isn't an obvious copyright violation, and the article is fairly neutrally worded, though it probably fails the notability criteria for bands WP:BAND. I agree that article should be deleted, but based on these factors I wasn't comfortable speedy deleting it. So what I have done is that I have delisted the speedy deletion and renominated it for deletion as a proposed deletion instead. Let me know if you have any questions, or if you think I've erred.

Thanks, Prodego talk 01:37, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Prodego 2 of the 3 short paragraphs were directly copied from the source I included and were rather promotional, in addition to that I believe it completely fails significance (and the claims of such are unsupported by facts) so it probably loosely qualified for A7 (band) too as I can find no indication that they're actually signed to the label the article claims. I'd previously tagged it for deletion via BLPPROD and some non-RS were added and the prod removed for whatever it's worth. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 02:05, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

General question

Chrissymad-

Based on your reversion of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nisa

I rarely edit wikipedia, but when I do, it tends to be for something minor that is missing or out of place. I have come to expect a quick reversion.

In this case, I was searching for a recent paper from NISA Investment Advisors and ended up on the wikipedia aggregation page instead of their site. When I found they weren't on the page, I added them. I understand that they don't have a standalone wiki page (is this the reason?) but they do actually have the nisa.com domain, so I thought it made sense.

Should I continue to infrequently contribute?

Re: Dave Salanitro article being considered for deletion

Dear Chrissymad

On behalf of my colleague, Dave Salanitro, I urge you to reconsider your petition for removal. We have overhauled the startling wreck of Dave's, frankly unreadable, Wikipedia page, which was made known to him via a surprise Google announcement. I assure he was as appalled as you must have been at what he found, and we are both still confounded by how it got there.

Understanding that we could not delete the page, I encouraged Dave to seize the opportunity. His accomplishments, his contributions to the craft of design and the profession at large have earned him a place on Wikipedia. Please take the time to read my extended argument at User_talk:Maxxheth; I hope you'll agree that Dave Salanitro is far from ordinary.

Thank you for your consideration.Maxxheth (talk) 06:54, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Chrissymad: I interviewed Dave Salanitro for the cover of HOW Magazine in the fall of 1997 (I was the Senior Editor there at the time). All of us at HOW were in awe of the work they were creating--absolutely dynamic, original, and cutting edge. Their original work stood out even more starkly in San Francisco, where there seems to be more design studios than coffee shops. I then went on to work as the Web Director for Chronicle Books, where I was thrilled to see the Oh Boy Artifacts line thrive. Please remove your petition for deletion. Request on 13:48:33, 14 August 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by FelicianoTech

Hi,

The Wikipedia help pages suggested contacting the reviewer who denied a page draft for advice on how to fix the page. So, what can I do to get this page approved?

Thank you.

Ricardo

13:25:59, 14 August 2017 review of submission by ModugnoT

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:The_Oreo_Cat Hi Crissy.

You rejected my article and left the comment that my refs are almost all social media. However, that is the whole reason for the submission. I am writting about a social media icon. I am not sure what else to provide here. The Oreo Cat evenhas many verified social accounts including our facebook page and others. It's also a registered enterprise you can see on Google: http://theoreocat.business.site/ https://www.google.ca/search?q=The+Oreo+Cat&oq=The+Oreo+Cat&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39k1l2j0i20k1j0.986.2336.0.2613.12.12.0.0.0.0.195.1271.4j7.11.0....0...1.1.64.psy-ab..1.11.1266...0i67k1.4WT3h_6HO0U

I am not sure what else you want me to add. Can you give me an idea here?

ModugnoT, as I mentioned on the (now declined) draft page, notability on Wikipedia is determined by what independent sources say about the subject. If the only people who have ever written about "The Oreo Cat" are the owners of the Oreo Cat, then the cat simply isn't notable per our standards. See The Golden Rule. Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Zeke Cohen, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:31, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Praxidicae, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 16,991 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.

Technology update:

  • Rentier has created a NPP browser in WMF Labs that allows you to search new unreviewed pages using keywords and categories.

General project update:

  • The Wikimedia Foundation Community Tech team is working with the community to implement the autoconfirmed article creation trial. The trial is currently set to start on 7 September 2017, pending final approval of the technical features.
  • Please remember to focus on the quality of review: correct tagging of articles and not tagbombing are important. Searching for potential copyright violations is also important, and it can be aided by Earwig's Copyvio Detector, which can be added to your toolbar for ease of use with this user script.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

WikiCup 2017 September newsletter

Round 4 of the WikiCup has ended and we move forward into the final round. In round 4, a total of 12 FAs, 3 FLs, 44 GAs, 3 FLs, 79 DYKs, 1 ITN and 42 GARs was achieved, with no FPs or FTs this time. Congratulations to Peacemaker67 on the Royal Yugoslav Navy Good Topic of 36 items, and the 12 featured articles achieved by Cas Liber (5), Vanamonde93 (3), Peacemaker67 (2), Adityavagarwal (1) and 12george1 (1). With a FA scoring 200 points, and bonus points available on top of this, FAs are likely to feature heavily in the final round. Meanwhile Yellow Evan, a typhoon specialist, was contributing 12 DYKs and 10 GAs, while Adityavagarwal and Freikorp topped the GAR list with 8 reviews each. As we enter the final round, we are down to eight contestants, and we would like to thank those of you who have been eliminated for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. The lowest score needed to reach round 5 was 305, and I think we can expect a highly competitive final round.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck, and let the best man (or woman) win! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hello, Chrissymad. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "District 1 2016 Primary Election".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Legacypac (talk) 17:47, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

EFH

Hi Chrissyman, I changed your group from EFM to the new EFH group (discussion of which came a lot from your request!). This will prevent changing filters, but will ADD the ability to see the spamblacklist log. Could you try out the SBL log to make sure it is working without admin access? Thank you, — xaosflux Talk 21:06, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

Xaosflux It does indeed! Thanks! CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 21:35, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Praxidicae, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 14304 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
  • Currently there are 532 pages in the backlog that were created by non-autoconfirmed users before WP:ACTRIAL. The NPP project is undertaking a drive to clear these pages from the backlog before they hit the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing a few today!

Technology update:

  • The Wikimedia Foundation is currently working on creating a new filter for page curation that will allow new page patrollers to filter by extended confirmed status. For more information see: T175225

General project update:

  • On 14 September 2017 the English Wikipedia began the autoconfirmed article creation trial. For a six month period, creation of articles in the mainspace of the English Wikipedia will be restricted to users with autoconfirmed status. New users who attempt article creation will now be redirected to a newly designed landing page.
  • Before clicking on a reference or external link while reviewing a page, please be careful that the site looks trustworthy. If you have a question about the safety of clicking on a link, it is better not to click on it.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

RMM Page

Hello, I would like to remind you that we are allowed to edit wiki pages when they are in the deletion review process. In fact, it is encouraged. Thank you! I've reverted the page back to the version I edited, which undid your undo. If you have specific problems with the page feel free to edit! But I am well within wiki guidelines to edit the page and try to improve it based on the AfD concerns. Outlier11

Outlier11 The COI issues have not been addressed and thus I've added the tag back. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 19:53, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Thank you! That was an oversight on my part, I meant to put it back in. Outlier11

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like you to assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not do on Bert Biscoe. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.  --- Α Guy Into Books § (Message) -  20:37, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Aguyintobooks Good faith was assumed - however what appears to be an edit war warranted my warning to you and still does. 3 reverts is when you get into block territory. That warning was a friendly reminder that you were getting to that point. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 20:55, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
Thats ok, but templates really get on my nerves, possibly they just seem patronising or something... I did put the content on the AfD discussion page rather than restoring it again, which has generated another thread of argument (as usual) so no worries!.  --- Α Guy Into Books § (Message) -  21:03, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Great to see...

Your name popping up several places on my watchlist again :) TonyBallioni (talk) 12:24, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

03:57:02, 3 October 2017 review of submission by Jzirin

I have revised my draft to include references to publications where my articles have appeared. All my books and articles are not about me but about external subjects (the courts, the law, foreign relations). SINCE ZIRIN IS NOTED AS A WRITER AS WELL AS A LAWYER AND TALK SHOW HOST, IT IS RELEVANT TO CITE HIS WRITINGS TO VERIFY THE SUBJECT'S PROMINENCE. Please tell me of anything else I need to do to qualify for publication. Thanks for your assistance. Jim Zirin (talk) 03:57, 3 October 2017 (UTC)October 2, 2017

Jzirin, the Golden Rule for Articles says that you must have independent sources that discuss the subject in detail. There is nothing wrong with including some of Zarin's publication history or listing some of his publishers, but in order to demonstrate notability you must include what other people have said about him. Otherwise, it's just a promotional page with no verifiable substance. On that note, I highly recommend you check out WP:REFB Section 3.1 for more information about adding references to an article.
