Questions
I saw your question at RFB, and it looked a little dated, if you are looking for the most recent versions of any of my RfX questions, feel free to watchlist User:MBisanz/Qs#Crats. MBisanz talk 05:06, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- Heh, you caught me :) I did indeed take those questions from you at a previous RfB. I took those questions from a RfB, grabbed maybe two or three additional RfAs from Majorly's data mine, and added the question. That is a very nice list of questions you have there. Perhaps I will ask adapted versions of those at future RfBs. Thank you :) NuclearWarfare (Talk) 05:10, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
License tagging for File:Michelleobama23.PNG
Thanks for uploading File:Michelleobama23.PNG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Re: hydrostatic equilibrium fixes
Just out of curiosity, what did you do? I can't get the diff to load, since it was so vast. Hope you didn't have to input every change manually. :( Serendipodous 15:22, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, it was nothing much. I fixed the hexadecimal things so that they are more inline with the standard. And no, luckily, the script did it for me; I just had to double check it :) NuclearWarfare (Talk) 16:54, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
RfA thankspam
Thank you for your participation in my recent RfA, which failed with 90/38/3; whether you supported, opposed or remained neutral.
Special thanks go out to Moreschi, Dougweller and Frank for nominating me, and I will try to take everyone's comments on board. Thanks again for your participation. I am currently concentrating my efforts on the Wikification WikiProject. It's fun! Please visit the project and wikify a few articles to help clear the backlog. If you can recruit some more participants, then even better. Apologies if you don't like RfA thankspam, this message was delivered by a bot which can't tell whether you want it or not. Link FA-Bot / "Did you know"
Hello. As per your request, I'm contacting you on behalf of the "automatic protection" for images used in the "Did you know" section (and possibly other sections) on the enWP mainpage. Now, for clarification: How often is the "did you know" section updated, and how 'precise' is the timing?
Reason I'm asking: The bot does not have admin rights on commons, and protects the images of the german Wikipedia by putting them into a template file that gets included by a cascade-protected 'main page' at a predefined time (midnight german time). I am currently tring to get the german 'Did you know' section to use multiple templates and update slightly ahead of time, so the images are "there" before the but runs - once the time has passed, the bot can no longer edit the 'current' page and thus cannot protect the images. (I might've asked for an "admin-bot" doing real protection for a day, but I don't believe in bots having that much power, especially where the bot owner does not).
Therefore: Is there a 'fixed schedule' for those updates on the enWP? If not, the bot as it currently is cannot help you.... If there is though, I would just need to know what schedule to watch for.
(Just reply here, I'm watching you page now - let's try keeping the discussion at one place, shall we?)
--Guandalug (talk) 22:58, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- At the English Wikipedia, "Did You Know" is updated using 5 different templates and an administratorbot.[1][2][3][4][5]AdminbotAdminBot Contributions
- The bot runs approximately every six hours, as seen from the contributions. Unfortunately, it does not seem to run exactly every six hours, but fairly close to that (give or take 10 minutes).
- I hope this helps you out. If you need any more information, please contact me. And if you wish to write an adminbot, I know several administrators who would be willing to run it for you if it is simple enough to do so. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 23:08, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, that helps a lot. If I time my bot to run 'later' than the admin bot (which is crontabbed), like.... 5 minutes after its 'usually last run', and time the automatic rotation on commons to be late 5 more minutes (just to have a safe margin), then it's quite possible. I'll take a closer look on the Adminbot - edits this evening (german time) and will prepare some pages on commons. Guandalug (talk) 07:20, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

I wasn't really sure if that user really was vandalizing Computer architechture. In my opinion, I really don't think he was vandalizing it.....but then again, thats' just my opinion. Cheers, Razorflame 03:20, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- "The term “architecture” in computer literature can be traced to the work of Abraham Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth, members in 1959 of the Machine Organization department in IBM’s main research center." That's definitely vandalism. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 03:22, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

I think it's great that you're bringing back the individual Burn Notice episodes. Would you also mind Wiki-linking the episodes on List of Burn Notice episodes? If you don't want to, I'll take care of it. Thanks. GoCuse44 (talk) 02:25, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- No problem, I got it. I'm editing it via templates (Burn Notice (season 1) and Burn Notice (season 2)), so your cache might be incorrect, but it should be done soon.
- Hopefully, I can get these three to FL status? Or at least the main list. That would be nice. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 02:27, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

- An offer of help! This is wonderful news. The most important thing we need right now are good plot summaries. Could you try to summarize every episode in Burn Notice (season 1) in 4-7 sentences? That should get us going on the proper track. I shall try to do the same for season 2. Start from the pilot and work your way down, and I'll start from my bottom and work up, so we don't overlap. Hopefully, this will turn out nicely. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 02:41, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

- (Recap of Trust Me in 5 sentences) -- Michael Westen tries to help Andy (Michael Naughton) recover money he had been lent from loan sharks. Andy had fallen victim to conman Zeke (Patrick Fabian), who had tricked Andy into investing in a night club in Cuba, which did not exist. Michael poses as a target for Zeke, playing the part of a wealthy southern oil tycoon, while Sam Axe plays the part of Chuck Finley, a financial adviser. Michael eventually cons Zeke into giving the money Zeke had stolen from Andy. Meanwhile, Michael gets one step closer to the people who burned him by gaining information through Pakistani Miami Consulate Security Guard (and spy) Waseem (Assaf Cohen). Michael also admits to his mother that he and Fiona are no longer dating.
- I'm not a big fan of the red links, and I'm clearly leaving a lot of what happened in the plot. Are you just looking to list these articles, or are you looking to keep them individually like what is done on The Wire? There is enough out there to make it look like an episode from The Wire, such as Old Cases. Thoughts? GoCuse44 (talk) 04:02, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- That's actually probably enough for the entire article. I know you left out a lot of information, but that's OK for this case. If you want, you can (and should :) ) make it a tiny bit longer.
- Also, I don't believe that these articles merit being kept. While Burn Notice is an excellent show, enough reviewers don't think so, so unlike Lost or 30 Rock, every episode shouldn't have its own article, as each of them do not get either enough reviews or enough production details released. Redirecting it back to Burn Notice (season 2) is probably the best way to move. (Also, that episode from The Wire probably ought be remerged back into the main season article per WP:PLOT) NuclearWarfare (Talk) 04:10, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Ha. I guess that's where you and I differ, at least with respect to The Wire. There is so much that goes on in an episode, and enough independent coverage of that show where I believe an individual article is warranted. On the other hand, I have no problem with Burn Notice episodes not getting their own articles, because, as you noted, not enough people care. GoCuse44 (talk) 04:15, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- OK - the plot is slightly longer now. What do you think of those red links? Should I just remove them? GoCuse44 (talk) 04:19, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- The red links are fine; those writers seem notable enough to set up an article on them eventually. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 19:51, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Also, don't forget to actually add your contributions as you make them; this tells me which one to do next :) NuclearWarfare (Talk) 22:31, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Burn Notice part 2
Looks good. Thank you for keeping the episode descriptions concise and simple. thanks for the notice. Good luck with this, let me know when your conversions are all finished, and I'll watchlist the page, help keep it a strong simple list. Nevermind. It appears that you didn't do at all what you said, but instead just restored them all, and logged off. I'll be reverting back. My redirects stood for months, and you'll need good reason to explain why, outside of WP:ILIKEIT, you've returned them. ThuranX (talk) 03:00, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Your assertion that what you told me was what you actually intended would be more credible if GoCuse wasn't cheering you on above for the restorations, and your comments that that was what you intended. ThuranX (talk) 03:11, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- I also told the person above " The most important thing we need right now are good plot summaries. Could you try to summarize every episode in Burn Notice (season 1) in 4-7 sentences?" 4-7 sentences is significantly less than what the episodes are now, showing that I really do wish to write proper summaries and add the to the article (I actually am writing 1-06 at the moment). I've done this before, in several different articles; I'll keep my word. NuclearWarfare (Talk)
- Thuran - I plan on doing this the right way. I can see why you didn't like things the way they were (I did not write those plot summaries), but in the end, my goal is to make it look like The Wire. Don't be so quick to judge my intentions. GoCuse44 (talk) 03:20, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Alright. I'll self-revert all those, but in one week, I intend to review the progress. ThuranX (talk) 03:24, 29 January 2009 (UTC) Got them all, i think. If I missed one, revert. ThuranX (talk) 03:28, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
I totally apologize. You two are doing a GREAT job. THis is a great example of how to handles ongoing series articles. I'm tempted to implement it on Superjail, it seems to work so well, and would probably reduce the rampant fannism vandals who come around. ThuranX (talk) 18:04, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

For your great work on the Burn Notice episodes. It's good to be wrong sometimes. ThuranX (talk) 18:06, 1 February 2009 (UTC) |
- Wow, thank you very much. And go ahead with your idea for Superjail! It might be a lot of work, but the results can look nice, and the fannism certainly takes a nosedive. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 18:15, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- That's going to be it for me today. I'll finish season 2 sometime this week and then get started on season 1 soon. GoCuse44 (talk) 19:28, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- Your episode summaries are really good (and you seem to remember things with good detail). Where are you getting copies of the episodes from? And that should be excellent :) NuclearWarfare (Talk) 20:33, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- Some episodes are available on Hulu, and if you search for the individual episode on Google, you're bound to find some form of episode recap that will jog your memory. I actually have Burn Notice season 1 on DVD, so that is why it'll be easier for me to write those recaps. I think this will be a great list when we're done with it. GoCuse44 (talk) 04:36, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- I only see two on Hulu at the moment, which isn't so great. Also, you must have better memory than me to remember all the details of the episodes. Then again, you probably saw them over the course of a season, while I saw them all one day, over the Christmas holidays and fell in love with it :) NuclearWarfare (Talk) 04:41, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- I've seen those episodes at least two times apiece. Anyway, I finished the season 2 recaps as far as they've been aired so far. Will this be enough to qualify it for the WP:Did You Know tomorrow? GoCuse44 (talk) 05:30, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- I certainly hope so. In any case, this is excellent. I have written a lead (partially stolen from the main article), gotten a decent hook with some references, and added it to the DYK page. Let's see how this goes. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 05:33, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Great. Thanks for nominating it. I hope it gets picked up, but either way, you're right, the article looks much better. You did a good job with the lead. Can you nominate that article for a featured list now? I'll start work on season 1 very soon. Thanks again. GoCuse44 (talk) 05:40, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I would, but there is so much more we have to do. We have to get in the following sections: "Production", "Cast", and "DVD Releases", not to mention sourcing every little bit of everything. A Featured List is going to take a long while :( See Prison Break (season 2) for an example of a featured list that I hope we can base ours off of. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 05:43, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ah. Well, Rome wasn't built in a day! I'm sure when we're finished, it will be an excellent article. I'll pick up more on this as the week progresses. Until then, nice work. GoCuse44 (talk) 05:55, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for the delayed response :-). Simplevote actually already has an (undocumented) option to get rid of these icons. Just add this underneath wherever you imported the script:

Peer review alert ahoy! Have a look here. I'll get back to you once you've addressed various aspects. I think that much more work is still needed here, read the review for the issues that need to addressed. I know you asked me to take a look at Avatar: The Last Airbender but I feel that the main article will be more manageable once issues on the sub-articles are fixed, plus I'll have a greater idea of what is going on with the Avatar series and games etc. Besides, reviewers might not be keen to see another Avatar article after the forthright failure of the Sozin article at FAC so recently. Coming back with a bigger and better article undermines any possible criticism of writers of the Avatar articles. PS I agree with keeping the plot concise, as you have. "Plot" should be an overview/summary of key events, not the minutiae of the whole series. Speak to you soon anyway at the PR. Cheers. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 01:53, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

I've been here for about a year now, and up to now I've mainly worked defense (vandal fighting etc.) instead of offense (content building). I've been wanting to expand my horizons and do more to improve Wikipedia, but I honestly don't know where to start. Most say, "just create a new article" but to me that's jumping in the deep end of the pool. I've been wondering if assisting in an FA would be a start, I don't know... I've seen mentorship for those who don't grok the concept of WP, and schools for prospective admins, but I've yet to hear of any program for those gnomes who wish to grow. Would you possibly have any advice for me? Thanks in advance, Aunt Entropy (talk) 20:58, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- It's great that you want to help build an article! I would be extremely happy to help you in getting Kitzmiller v. Dover, at least in an advisoral fashion.
- At the moment, there is no "school" for article building. The best thing to do might be to just dive straight in with Kitzmiller. The first thing to do is to check the overall content. Is there any major section that seems missing or a bit weak? If so, try add to that. WP:SCOTUS probably has some good information on how an article ought to be laid out. Then, go line by line and analyze the prose and citations. Does a fact seem like it could be challegened? Cite it. Is there some bad fluidity? Fix it. After that, check it once more against the GA Criteria and try to get it through that. For the FA part, the next step, you'll have to get a really good reviewer, and I can see if I can help with that.
- I hope this little bit helped. Feel free to contact me, always, if you have any more questions or issues. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 21:10, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, can't help you there; try asking a couple of other users. Btw, how did you get those numbers already on the page? Corn.u.co.pia • Disc.us.sion 05:34, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- They were already there in the original List of Burn Notice episodes article. Most of what I had found has been approximately right (within +100,000), so I left them, but I really ought to find sources for it.
- Do you know of anyone who I could personally contact? A post on WP:Television would most likely be ignored like most wikiproject posts. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 05:37, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Date delinking
Hola, depending on your view of the Arbitrary Committee, you may want to relax your script-assisted date delinking for the time being. Cheers, Skomorokh 04:03, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notice. I had clarified with Arbitrator Jayvdb, and he said that a delink without automated bots a couple of times per hour would be acceptable. Do you feel I am exceeding this editing frequency? If so, please tell me, and I'll stop. (Note that my whitelinks/ref script does not delink dates). NuclearWarfare (Talk) 04:15, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, not at all, it's just that one tends to use such scripts semi-consciously, and I didn't want you to run afoul of the authorities in case you decided to go on an altruistic format-fixing spree. It's not the whitelinks/ref script but the "wp:datescript-assisted date/terms audit] mentioned here that tipped me off. Nothing to worry about, happy editing, Skomorokh 04:20, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
tl in help template
Hi, I saw you tl a help template here. The reason I left it active is because I thought another editor should read over the answers I gave and either agree or disagree. I answered because the questions as posed did not give full information and would have required quite a bit of digging for any editor who was not familiar with the situation already. Could you please have a look at the talk page and see if you agree, as the editor has reopened another help template (this time admin help). Thanks. NJGW (talk) 21:40, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

GAN for Avatar main article
I've read through it and have given the article some minor changes. The GAN reviewer should be able to come up with some problems that need fixing, but hopefully not much (or else I didn't do my job correctly). In any case, I'm putting up the article at WP:GAN on Wednesday, when I come back. You can nominate it earlier, if you want, but I won't be there to help until after Wednesday.

I have finally finished the prep work for Fielding. Here is a list of things I need you and Peter to complete. If there are any questions about individual sections, missing info, etc, just contact me and I will provide the bulk. I basically need help with all the formatting. Right now, I am keeping everything on one page (the individual plays sections right now). Wikilinks, leads, summaries (for the "early plays" page) and formatting are the primary concerns. Any work is a help, and remember, this will be 15 pages (plus one more about the 1733 Actor's Rebellion, which I will put together tomorrow). Thanks and sorry for the delay. SVG
Would you mind explaining why File:Numb3rs Insignia.jpg shouldn't be converted to an SVG image? It's non-photographic, simple, monochromatic, and (I'll confess no firsthand experience, as I don't know how to make them) seemingly really easy to do.
Also, why did you remove the {{watermark}} template from the image? It is watermarked with the CBS eye logo, which should be removed (as isn't not a libre element).

Avatar: The Last Airbender (and etc.)
In your opinion, what are the biggest problems with Avatar: The Last Airbender? This might make my job a little easier. And about the Universe page, there are sections which I think should just be cut and given a mention in another section. WHSL (Talk) 03:43, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- The two biggest problems, right now, are probably Cultural Influences and Response. If you could prosify them, that would be best.

Hi,
I was just wondering why you removed the Morse Code information from the Jericho wiki page. That was very useful information to me a few days ago and now it has been removed. I think it should go back up onto the wiki.

Demographics work
As a Juliancolton-talk page stalker, I have seen you around a lot, asking Julian to do some Demographics work. I looked around, and some of the bot work you are doing seems somewhat interesting. Is there any way that I could help? NuclearWarfare (Talk) 05:28, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Julian is cool, and his talk page has become an interesting hub of activity. I understand why you lurk there.
- First things first, do you have a bot account? If so, what is it called?
- I have a bot account, User:NWBot, but it does not have a flag. I'd be willing to go through the BRFA process, but I hope I still remember the password :) NuclearWarfare (Talk) 22:05, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Next question: are you registered to use AWB, and do you have it installed?
- Comment: we find WP:WikEd and WP:LINKY invaluable tools for batch editing (WikEd for creating input lists (using its search/replace features, and Linky for loading lots of pages into subwindows ("tabs") in Firefox - which brings Firefox's tab controls into play). Which brings us to the next question:
- Do you have Firefox, WP:WikEd, and WP:LINKY installed?
- Got both of those. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 22:05, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm also looking for those rare individuals who are experienced macro users (a rare breed), or willing to become such.
- Not exactly sure what that is. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 22:05, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Keep in mind that currently, there are some non-bot tasks that are bottlenecking us that need the close interactive attention of dedicated editors.
- For example, in order to apply AWB effectively to the CIA World Factbook Demographics statistics (which are in really sad shape) on the "Demographics of" country pages, we need a key - a standard string we can target for filtering and skipping within AWB - so we can target just the pages with the CIA stat sets, to minimize search/replace errors.
- That key shall be the heading for that section - we're standardizing it for all these pages. Unfortunately, this has to be done manually (or semi-manually - as AWB and LINKY can speed up tasks like this to some degree).
- The demographics work is a tangent my team has taken on, since it supports our main focus which is the development of the geography branch of Wikipedia's Outline of knowledge, specifically its outlines on the World's countries. There are about 250 pages in that set, and this has proved to be a huge undertaking. We are trying to get these ready to move to article space, and the vast majority of our tasks pertain to these outlines.
- We could sure use your help! Would you like to join our team?
- And while lots of bot tasks are in the pipeline, we have just as many interactive AWB/LINKY semi-automated batch tasks that need to be done, including a lot of (template) substitution work as well.
- Right now, I need the most help on interactive tasks, though if you choose to help here, I'll be sure to throw in plenty of bot tasks (assuming you are set up to do them) over time.
- I look forward to your reply.

Well, can you remember the password to your bot account?!!!
- OK, I got the bot account, and I still remember the password, though it does not have the bot flag. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 23:17, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
A macro program lets you record keystroke sequences (what you type in on your keyboard) and play them back by assigning them to a "hot key" that you press to activate the macro. Using macros, you can automate just about any repetitive task on your computer. The best macros are programmable, allowing you to use variables, input breaks (like "Y/N?"), and lots of other powerful features. The macro program I'm experienced with allows me to execute repetitive tasks across Windows (multi-window operations in which the macro switches windows to do something in each, like grab some data from one, and insert it in another). Used in combination with Linky, macro programs are exceedingly powerful - you can use them to process all the pages you've loaded into tabs, save each page, and close out each tab before moving on to the next one. Note that repetitive macros are by definition bots, and so they fall under Wikipedia's bot guidelines. But you can easily make macros that are interactive.
However, note that at the bot department it was stated that we don't need bot approval to use bots on the country outlines. See Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/Worldbot for details.
My guess is that macro proficiency would increase your productivity by at least a factor of 3 on this and similar projects.
See if you can understand AutoHotKey - I never bothered with it because Macro Express does just about everything I can think of for it to do.
By the way, welcome to the team.

- Hmm, where would a good place to download this be? NuclearWarfare (Talk) 23:17, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
Your first assignment: add headings and lead sections to "Demographics of" country articles
This task has two parts for each page you edit:
- Add a lead section to those articles that lack one
- Standardize the heading for the CIA World Factbook Demographics statistics (in those articles that have that set of statistics), and add a standard section lead to the section.
The first thing you need to do is familiarize yourself with the CIA demographics statistics set so you can recognize the complete set when you see it.
Here's the list of the country demographics articles: User:The Transhumanist/Country demographics articles.
Using Linky, from that page you can load 99 of them at a time into tabs to make them easy to inspect. (Highlight an area of the screen and then right-click - select Linky from the pop-up menu and follow the instructions / select from the options provided). When you are done looking at one article, press Ctrl-W, and that tab will be closed and the contents of the next tab will be displayed almost instantly on you screen.
We've already formatted many of them (like about half of them). You'll notice when you get to the ones with crappy formatting. Most of those need the new standard heading.
After you've gotten good at spotting the stat set, I need you to add the standard section heading and section lead to each article that presents the stat set.
You also need to make sure that the stats are included under the same heading. Some editors have divided it up into separate sections, without a heading for the stat set as a whole! You need to consolidate the various sections as subheadings under the standard heading.
Set the heading level of the stat set to whatever works for each specific article. On most pages, the stat sets fits well at the end as under a level 2 heading. On other pages it needs to be a subheading of an existing over-arching demographics statistics section (the CIA isn't the only source for this kind of information after all).
If the stat set has been heavily modified with material from additional sources, you should skip those, unless the alternate sources have been provided as citations.
Don't worry about reformatting all the statistics. Once the heading is in place, we'll be able to automate much of the format fixing using AWB-bots, targetting just those pages that include the heading.
What to do
Missing lead section
When you come across a "Demographics of" article that has no lead section, place this at the top of the page (after any hat notes - you know, wherever the lead paragraph should be):
{{subst:User:The Transhumanist/Sandbox23|country name}}
Where it says "country name" type in the country's name.
Missing standard heading
When you come across the CIA demographics statistics set that doesn't yet have the standard heading, replace its current heading with this:
{{subst:User:The Transhumanist/Sandbox26}}
The standard heading and section lead is in that sandbox.
Make sure all the CIA stats fall under that section, adjusting the levels of any other headings used for it, accordingly.
If you have any questions, please ask.
Good luck
Good luck.
Have fun.
The Transhumanist 23:08, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
A lot statistics in that article are not from the CIA. They are from UK sources. It seems strange to state that they are from the CIA unless stated otherwise and then you find that most of are stated otherwise. Jolly Ω Janner 23:49, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

You might want to undo the change that you made or perhaps you could explain to me what was wront with the edit that was made to it?

- Thank you for your message. I looked over my edit again here, and I think I remember why I reverted this edit. I probably should not have reverted it so quickly without giving you a message, but you can reinstate it quite easily. Your edit, while quite probably true, did not attribute a "reliable source." Reliable sources generally include things like official websites (in this case) or newspaper stories that can verify what you are saying is true. So feel free to undo my edit, but if you do, could you please add a link in between <ref></ref> tags, so that someone could check to see if the content is true? Thanks.

The project may be catching on. Take a look at this!
Someone not on the team has come along and moved one of the country outline drafts to article space. This is a great sign, as it means the set of pages is attracting attention.
It's Topic outline of Romania.
Please help complete it ASAP. Here's why:
It's got some awkward stuff in there, including blank links, redlinks (that need to be bluelinked by creating redirects), and apparently irrelevant entries (kept for comparison purposes, that need to be filled in with "none"), etc.
Many editors tend to remove awkward stuff instead of complete it.
We should finish up Topic outline of Romania before they remove anything.
Thank you.
Good luck.
Have fun.

The Grudge 3 Plot
I belive that the plot of the article The Grudge 3 should be shortened so it will not ruin the movie before people get the cance to see it. The full plot should be released on May 12th,the official DVD release date. Until then, the plot should be shortened and not reveal too much. - That is probably true; the plot should be shortened. However, your changes had made it veer off the course of Neutral Point of View and make it seem a bit advertizey. - Hi there. I didn't really look at the page history before I made those changes, as I am doing a rather large project revolving around this subject. Can you please tell me what you find objectionable about my edit? I see no recent discussion on the talk page, and the CIA Factbook has been used without a problem for these hundreds of articles. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 05:15, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Hi there. An editor asked me to stop doing one of the changes you asked me to make. Can you please see this discussion? NuclearWarfare (Talk) 05:16, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Zlerman's on the team - he's working on 4 specific country outlines:
- And he's also our team's watchdog and points out problems as he spots them. He's very good at that.
- This could be one huge problem he's spotted this time. :(
- I mean really huge. I've replied at that same discussion. It might even make the papers (if it hasn't already).
- Skip Demographics of Cyprus, but keep going on the other Demographics of pages.
- We should complete the standardization of the format of the CIA stats across Wikipedia, in case it is decided to keep it, but also because it will make it easier to find and remove if it is decided to delete it.
- Keep in mind that the section heading we're placing is temporary. It became that way after we started adding "unless otherwise indicated" to the section lead. But don't worry. Once the placement of the standard heading is completed, it will be an easy matter to change it on all the pages.
- Having fun yet? :)
- P.S.: Don't Panic
- Heh, wow, that's actually a pretty big deal. Are you going to contact the CIA about this? And yeah, I'm having fun. :D NuclearWarfare (Talk) 06:05, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- No. That individual's claim has since been proven false. The Transhumanist 17:39, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

LOUISE GLOVER PAGE TO BE DELETD FOR GOOD
There are many articles on the page which are referred to that are liable and poorly sourced. I cant get louise glover the decent modeling jobs she needs due to bad info and info that doesn't need to be wrote or her and seen in her everyday life . Three must be some human rights laws for louise glover to be protective from so much negative and untrue info thats wrote from mainly ridicules resources etc. I find it hard to believe you still have louise glover page still active. I have seen enough complaints. I need get her page completly deleted of this site for good. How can we do this. I'm willing to take legal action of this matter. lidia smith ( ~~27thfeb2009~~ ) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lidia smith (talk • contribs) 02:50, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Next task
On the pages listed at User:The Transhumanist/Country outlines:
In the reference section, there's this entry:
- Official English country name(s): of Australia
(I've used "Australia" as an example only. The country name matches the outline.)
I need you to complete or replace the link on each outline.
For example in the example above, it would be Commonwealth of Australia.
But "Replace"?
Yes, some official country names use a different form than "____ of". Like "French Republic".
Some countries might have more than one official name. If so, include a link for each.
If all countries only have one official name, then let me know.
You can usually find the official name in the lead of the outline or in the lead of the article on the country. If it's not there, check to see if there is a Name of x article for the country's name. That might state what the current official name is. Failing that, see what the country uses on its own official website (that might be the best place to look in the first place).
The Transhumanist 01:18, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- I am a little bit confused. Do you think you could do one or two as examples for me please? NuclearWarfare (Talk) 01:47, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- I almost didn't spot this reply. To ensure I don't miss anything, it's best to post replies to my talk page or mention there that you've replied on yours, to take advantage of Wikipedia's ugly orange but incredibly reliable message alert feature.
- As examples, I've filled in the broken links described above in the 30 country outlines in the main namespace. In each outline, to look at the line I worked on, search for "Official English country name:". Here's the list of those outlines:
- Topic outline of Albania
- Topic outline of Algeria
- Topic outline of Angola
- Topic outline of Australia
- Topic outline of Austria
- Topic outline of Argentina
- Topic outline of Canada
- Topic outline of Ecuador
- Topic outline of Egypt
- Topic outline of France
- Topic outline of Germany
- Topic outline of Iceland
- Topic outline of India
- Topic outline of Indonesia
- Topic outline of Iran
- Topic outline of Iraq
- Topic outline of the Republic of Ireland
- Topic outline of the Isle of Man
- Topic outline of Israel
- Topic outline of Italy
- Topic outline of Japan
- Topic outline of Macau
- Topic outline of Mexico
- Topic outline of Romania
- Topic outline of Russia
- Topic outline of Taiwan
- Topic outline of Thailand
- Topic outline of the United Kingdom
- Topic outline of the United States
- Topic outline of Zimbabwe
I need you to complete this task for all the other outlines listed on User:The Transhumanist/Country outlines.
The best place to look for a country's official name is on the list of countries.
For example, Russia's official name is the Russian Federation.
Good luck.
Have fun.
The Transhumanist 00:36, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Have I cleared up the confusion for you? Please let me know. The Transhumanist 21:52, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
I just reverted an edit on this article from a POV-pushing sockpuppet, but in the process had to revert your edit too. I couldn't identify from the diff exactly what you had done - I think it was probable just removal of white space that doesn't show up clearly in a diff - so if you feel that this edit was important please do it again. Phil Bridger (talk) 21:52, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notice. It was indeed a minor unimportant edit, so it is easy enough to make it again :) NuclearWarfare (Talk) 23:02, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Judge Turpin
You said my edit to the date of birth on this fictional character was unconstructive and reverted it. There are no sources that I am aware of that give a specific date of birth for this character, but it can be assumed to be mid to late 1700s as the story is set in 1785 and he is middle-aged. 69.155.78.29 (talk) 03:50, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Thank you for letting me know of this. I had falsely assumed that since you were changing specific dates, that you were vandalizing, which seems to be false. My apologies. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 03:52, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Comment on FAC for United States Academic Decathlon
If you're going to go through with a FAC for this article, there are a couple things that need to be done. The middle paragraph of the 1968&mbsp;2000 section needs fixing. The dates I have there are wrong. Also, it's confusing how it's worded... it's often hard to follow exactly what season is being talked about. Going along with that, the Topics, past and present table needs to be changed / fixed. It really should be its own article entirely. I started working on this a while ago but became too exhausted and burnt out with Wikipedia to finish it (can be found here - was hoping to make this a FL at some point). That sandbox accurately depicts the divide between when themes were instituted, so you can use that to go off of. Other than that, I think it's relatively solid (I wrote it with the intent of taking it to FAC, but never got around to the finishing touches). The Controversies section is probably the weakest though. It could probably be changed to Controversies and criticisms; the article would then have to include the various criticisms USAD has received over the years - most notably those from California coaches, and Coach Hatem from North Hollywood High School in particular. Anyway, if you are in fact serious about taking this to fact, let me know. I'll work on it with you. - Yohhans talk 10:24, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up. It seems like a great idea to go through with this, as I love AcaDec, and I think it would be great to get it to FA. I'm going to see if I can work on your List in your Sandbox, though finding sources might be a bit of a struggle. Where do you think the best way to find them would be? NuclearWarfare (Talk) 16:38, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- I think I'll start on the Objective Events list first, because it is a generally useful one that shouldn't be hard if we could just get the sources. I'll start working on that. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 17:07, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, the only place to get reliable sources is newspapers. Virtually all my sourcing has been done by using Lexis Nexis or Google's News archives. - Yohhans talk 05:27, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- Interesting. DemiDec could probably be used as a reliable source as well; I can use that for a lot. Also, does the actual USAD resource guide count as an unreliable or unverifiable source? I probably have access to the past ten years worth, so I can use that. I'll check out newspaper archives, and hope I get lucky. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 05:33, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- Check my response I left on my talk page. Regarding USAD as a primary source, I think it's ok since it's only being used to verify facts such as what the topics were and the like. - Yohhans talk 05:36, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Giant Steps on the Cedar Walton page
Giant Steps is one of the four great recordings of 1959, Kind of blue, Mingus Ah Um, The Shape of Jazz to Come, and This, Giant Steps. A peek into the Penguin Guide to Jazz on CD and the Atlantic Archives will show this to be the case.
Therefore my change to the page is correct.

- Oh nice, thanks. Is there any way to choose when to use one, or should I try to delink by category and ignore ones that change the formatting from dmy to mdy or vice-versa. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 15:01, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- I prefer to go by categories, which I find is more productive. Of course, there will always be misclassifications and the like, which becomes an override decision on the part of users. Happy editing! Ohconfucius (talk) 03:11, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- I would add that I have found on my travels that a certain fraction of articles have both linked and unlinked dates, and that in order to make all date formats consistent, it is probably better to use the latter two scripts. The former scripts only converts (and delinks) those which are already linked. Ohconfucius (talk) 04:22, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Call to action
Alarm! Alarm!
We've been working on the country outline drafts for a year now.
Therefore, I've moved them to article space.
All of them.
It's time to finish them up!
The only accuracy problem they have are the government branches sections.
Those need to be completed right away.
I've been working on them and will continue to do so...
But, this task needs nuke power!

The account is my friends and he's one of the best Wikipedians I know. Could you make the page for him? (MANACASAREZ (talk) 19:18, 8 March 2009 (UTC))
- If he wants to, he could make the page himself. However, I doubt that he will pass an "RfA", as community standards for them are generally rather high. I'd advise him to read WP:NOTNOW, and apply after a few thousand edits. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 19:27, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Country outlines project update - 2009/03/08
Things have been slowing down again, so it's time for a big push...
We've gone live
This project needed a shot in the arm. Also, its draft pages have been littering Wikipedia's categories for months. The time seemed right to move all the country outline drafts to article space.
WHAT???
Well, the drafts had been sitting in Wikipedia space for a year.
WHAT???
Development has been moving at a snail's pace and we could use the help of the Wikipedia community at large (who are more likely to find these if they are in article space).
WHAT???
Yes, we've gone live. :)
This puts pressure on us to get the blatantly incomplete elements of these outlines done. The only glaring problem is the government branches sections. These need to be corrected ASAP.
I've mentioned THE GOVERNMENT BRANCHES SECTIONS many times to many people over the past year, but the problem just doesn't seem to have been taken seriously. So let me put it another way:
HELP!!! I need your help on this now. Almost all the countries have a government with an executive branch, a legislative branch, and a judicial branch. The links for these branches need to be completed for each country outline:
- Here's a convenient list you can use WP:LINKY on to access and edit these quickly. Please copy the list's link to the top of your talk page so that you can access it easily.
If you spot any standardization in links, and ways we can automate parts of this process, or for groups of countries that have links in common, please let me know!
Administrative support for outlines
There has been growing pressure on me to write up the administrative pages for outlines - their instructions, guidelines, etc. Therefore, I'm now in the process of composing these. Fortunately, it is mostly a matter of gathering material from messages I've written to you guys over the past year. Still, this is taking up most of my time, and I will be buried in these for the foreseeable future.
Traffic control
The next big task after the government branches sections are cleaned up is link support for the outlines.
There's quite a list of links and notices that need to be put in place around Wikipedia, providing access to them to readers, and alerting editors to the need to develop and maintain these pages. This will keep our bot people very busy (and happy).
But the most important thing right now is to get the government branches sections completed. So please, put your bots aside, roll up your shirt sleeves, and start typing.
Thank you.
