Each time a non-free file like File:Rio Grande Valley Dorados.png is added to an article, a separate, specific non-free use rationale also needs to be added to the file's page explaining how the particular use of the file satisfies all ten non-free content use criteria. This file only has a non-free use rationale for Rio Grande Valley Dorados; so, if you feel that the file's non-free use is also justified in Rio Grande Valley Dorados (2019–), please provide a non-free use rationale explaining why. Non-free files lacking a rationale for a particular use can be flagged for removal per WP:NFCCE and there are WP:BOTs that go about doing this. If the file is removed from "Rio Grande Valley Dorados (2019–)" before a rationale is added, don't panic; just add the missing rationale and then re-add the file to the article. Please try to understand, however, that simply adding a rationale doesn't automatically mean that the non-free use is otherwise policy-compliant. The file's non-free use needs to satisfy all ten non-free content use criteria, and it can still be nominated for discussion at WP:FFD by another editor.

Please also be advised that when you move a file from one article to another or from one place in an article to another location in the same article, the original justification for non-free use may no longer apply. If you change the way a file is being used, you need to update the non-free use rationale accordingly to reflect that new usage. This could be as simple as simply changing the name of the article where the file is now being used or it can mean adding more specific details about how the file is now being used. Logos such as sport team logos are generally OK to upload per item 2 of WP:NFCI when the logo is being used for primary identification purposes at the top of or in the main infobox of an article about the team; other types of non-free uses are much harder to justify. Former logos, in particular, can be hard to justify because the established consensus is that the former logo itself needs to be subject of sourced critical commentary somewhere in the article where it's being used (see WP:NFC#cite_note-4). So, simply moving the former logo to another part of an article like you did at Premier Arena Soccer League is not enough and is the reason why File:PASL Pro Logo.png has been tagged for deletion by a Wikipedia administrator. It's much better to try and find reliable sources which discuss the logo change and then add content about the change with citations to those sources to the article.

Image use on Wikipedia can be tricky, and this is particularly true for non-free files. Some of these policies might seem confusing and that may be actually something worth discussing on the talk pages of the respective policy like WT:IUP or WT:NFCC; these policies and guidelines, however, have been established over the years through community consensus which means we as editors are expected to do our best to try and comply with them. This doesn't mean we won't make mistakes, but it does mean we should try and limit these mistakes as much as possible. I realize you're feeling frustrated by all of the notifications about images and other stuff which have been added to your user talk page over the years, but they were added for a reason. If there's something about a particular notification that you find vague or otherwise disagree with, its perfectly OK to ask for clarification from the person who posted it. Just follow the instructions in the template (there usually are instructions) or post a note below the notification asking for clarification (you can even WP:PING the other editor). Nobody who has added a notification is doing so to try and drive you away from editing, but the repeated posting of the same notifications over and over again is kind of giving off the impression that your not listening and don't care. When an administrator advises you #Non-free logos and crests about the size of the non-free files you're uploading, feels the need to reminds you again three years later at #Non-free logos and you still continue to upload files which are too large per relevant policy like before, it's not really a good sign. The same goes for uploading non-free helmet files which basically provide the same encyclopedic information as the non-free logo files being used in the same articles when previous helmet files have already been deleted. So, if there's something you don't understand about image use in particular, please ask for help at WP:MCQ or WT:NFCC and other editors more familiar with relevant policies and guidelines will try and help. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:06, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

I upload these files on purpose to download the different sizes. I ALLOW the bots to reduce the sizes, which I have no problems with. Also, if I have to have my fiels reduces, why are some of the other files uploaded by other people allowed to stay as is? Should I give you some examples? NostalgiaBuff97501 (talk) 08:50, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
I'm not sure what other files your referring to so it's hard to say whether they should be reduced. Not all files are licensed the same way, and files which are freely licensed or within the public domain are not subject to the same restrictions as non-free files. However, if you've uploaded a file that was not licensed as "non-free" which was then reduced, then a mistake was probably made. If you can provide a link to that file, I can ask an administrator to take a look at it and restore it to the original size if it really was done in error.
Comparing different files is not always a good thing to do as explained in WP:OTHERIMAGE because not every file is licensed or used the same. This is particularly the case when it comes to non-free files because Wikipedia's non-free content use policy is quite restrictive and the non-free use of one particular file doesn't solely depend upon how other non-free files are being used; it could be that the other non-free files are also being inappropriately used and just have been noticed by anyone yet. Moreover, since files are constantly being uploaded, it's possible you have come across some non-free ones which still need to be reduced. The file could've been tagged for reduction and just hasn't been reduced yet, or simply nobody has noticed it yet. If you find any non-free files like this which haven't been tagged yet, you can help out by adding the template {{Non-free reduce}} to the top of its page to let a bot or human reviewer know about it. You can also add the same template to the top of any files you upload which most likely need to be reduced. If you have any more questions about this or anything other image stuff, feel free to ask. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:16, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

An offer to help

Hi NostalgiaBuff. I see in a thread above that someone discussed the size of your talk page with you. I know it's more T's to cross and i's to dot and just more work. I'd like to offer to you that I can archive this for you and set up your talk page in such a way that it is automatically archived for you, without you having to do anything. There's a bot that can be instructed to do this on your behalf. I can set things up so that the bot will do this for you. An example of this can be see at User talk:Newyorkbrad. On that talk page, which sees a lot more traffic than your talk page here, the bot is automatically archiving any thread that has no traffic within it for 7 days. You don't have to do anything to get the ball rolling on this except to tell me that you would like this done. Hoping to help, --Hammersoft (talk) 14:15, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

I know the WNBA said that the new logo won't be used until the 2020 season per their press release, but explain to me why it's all over the place now? Are they going back on their release or what? NostalgiaBuff97501 (talk) 18:05, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

They can use whatever logo they want on their website, but they specifically stated that the new logo will not be in use until the 2020 season. In addition, the File:WNBA Logo 2019.png is not their new logo. It is the league's secondary logo and the main logo is completely different. It would be best to wait for the SVG logo to be updated in the source since all logos should be in SVG format if it is available. In addition, the "SportsLogos.net" website does not always show the correct logo and this applies to the WNBA logo. – Sabbatino (talk) 09:56, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

Hello, NostalgiaBuff97501,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username SportingFlyer and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Austin Generals, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now-visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click Publish Changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SportingFlyer}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

I have found a few articles that I will add as soon as possible. I still have editing to do, but the quick triggers don't give me enough time to get something done. NostalgiaBuff97501 (talk) 22:56, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
In regards to "quick triggers", perhaps re-read what I suggested nearly one year ago exactly about creating pages? (By the way, creating pages normally "triggers" a reviewer to look at it. If it does not have sufficient or proper referencing, it can get prodded, which is precisely what @SportingFlyer: was doing when you created a page using only a single primary source.) Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Press Your Luck, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bill Mitchell (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Notice

The file File:BC Lions Helmet 2019.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free helmet image whose use fails WP:NFCC#3a, WP:NFCC#4 and WP:NFCC#10a. There is already a non-free file (File:BC Lions logo.svg) of the team's logo being used in the main infobox of BC Lions for primary identification purposes, so there's no need for another file basically showing the same logo on a helmet to be used per NFCC#3a. In additional, the sportslogos source cited for the helmet doesn't seem to be an official website of the team which means that the helmet file is not being officially provided by the team itself. This is a problem per NFCC#4 and NFCC#10a since the sportslogo website might actually be violating the team's copyright over the logo if they are hosting it without the team's permission. It also could mean the the helmet imagery was created by someone other than the team which means it's also not an official image.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:09, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

As with many helmets that exist where the logo match the decals, this helmet should NOT be deleted. The website shows that it exists. NostalgiaBuff97501 (talk) 02:13, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
It's not a question of whether the helmet exists, it's whether Wikipedia needs two non-free files of what is bascially the same logo. This was touched on by Diannaa in the #Non-free logos post she left above in October of last year, and nothing has really changed since then. Wikipedia tries to limit non-free use as much as possible per WP:NFCC#3 and one file showing the logo for identification purposes is really all that is needed. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:29, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Toronto Argonauts Helmet 2019.png

Thanks for uploading File:Toronto Argonauts Helmet 2019.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:07, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

The logo on this helmet can be seen uploaded to Wikimedia Commons as File:Argonauts Logo.svg under a {{PD-textlogo}} license. You can use a public domain logo to create a new derivative work which is eligible for its own copyright if you like, but Wikipedia will not automatically accept such a non-free file per WP:FREER. If this helmet imagery came from an official team's website, then it might be possible to relicense the file as public domain just like the logo; however, if it came from another website or the helmet imagery was user-created, then Wikipedia can't really keep it. Wikipedia doesn't allow non-free content to be used if freely licensed equivalent content which can serve the same encyclopedic purpose can either be found or created, and in this case there already exists a free equivalent version of the logo. Now, if you think the Commons file has been incorrectly licensed, then you can nominate it for deletion/discussion on Commons. If the Commons file ends up deleted, however, there would still only be a need for one non-free file of the logo in the main infobox. In that case, the logo could be uploaded as non-free content, but that would still mean there would be no need for a non-free helmet file. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:16, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Montreal Alouettes Helmet 2019.png

Thank you for uploading File:Montreal Alouettes Helmet 2019.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:06, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

The source you've provided for this file (www.montrealalouettes.com) shows the team's logo (File:Montreal Alouettes logo.svg) and even shows some pictures of players wearing the helmets, but it doesn't show this particular file. The actual source of the file which you uploaded really should be provided per WP:NFCC#10a. So, if this file came from the teams's primary official website, then please provide a direct link to the webpage where it can be found. If it came from another official team website (for example, an official social media page), then please provide a link to that website. If the file came from any website other than an official team website or was user created, Wikipedia might not be able to keep it as non-free content per WP:NFC#Sourcing and WP:NFC#Meeting the previous publication criterion depending upon the website or who created it. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:16, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

The primary logo can be seen at http://www.columbuslions.net/home/, but again no helmet file can be seen there. This means that the helmet file may not be being officially provided by the team itself. This is a problem per NFCC#4 and NFCC#10a since the it's not sure where the file comes from and it might actually be not be content officially provided by the team.

-- Marchjuly (talk) 06:49, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

Notice

The file File:Jacksonville Sharks Helmet Logo.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free helmet image whose use fails WP:NFCC#3a, WP:NFCC#4 and WP:NFCC#10a. There is already a non-free file (File:Jacksonville Sharks.png) of the team's logo being used in the main infobox of Jacksonville Sharks for primary identification purposes, so there's no need for another file basically showing the same logo on a helmet to be used per NFCC#3a. In additional, the source cited for the helmet (http://www.jaxsharks.com/home/) doesn't seem to be the actual source of the file. It shows the primary logo and shows picture of players wearing helmets with the logo, but this actual file cannot be found. This is a problem per NFCC#4 and NFCC#10a since the helmet image might actually come from a different website and the file might not be an official file released by the team itself.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:Rio Grande Valley Dorados Helmet.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. — Marchjuly (talk) 11:06, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

Final warning

NostalgiaBuff97501, it has come to my attention that you have continued violating Wikipedia's WP:NFCC policy regarding sports-related images. You have uploaded and re-uploaded several images after being deleted under the WP:CSD policy as a result of deletion discussions. Moving forward, there will be zero tolerance for your disregard of policy, consensus, and the community. You must immediately stop uploading such files which violate policy, as it has been previously explained to you time and time again. Your "I didn't hear that" behavior is unacceptable and downright disruptive. If you continue violate policy, even with a single upload, I will indefinitely block your account. Enough is enough. xplicit 02:27, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Go ahead and permanently block me! You and a few of your other "editors" let everyone else get away with the same exact thing that I do and yet I get chastised for it! The WP:CSD and WP:NFCC policies VIOLATE free speech and free press rights that we have here in the United States. Oh, but I forgot, Wikipedia "editors" don't HAVE to follow free speech rights of ANY country. They can do whatever they want. While I appreciate Marchjuly and Yosemiter at least trying to give me respectful dialogue, YOU, Mr. xplicit, are nothing but an asshole! Permanently ban me! I don't care! Not ALL articles have the TRUE facts anyway. I don't need you anyway, but your definitely NEED me and you know it!!! Your administrators are going to hear from me! You may not lose any sleep losing me and probably won't even care, but that's fine with me! Let's see how you do without me. Your articles are going to suck without me helping you out! Bye, Felicia! To retire gracefully on MY terms NostalgiaBuff97501 (talk) 07:32, 30 May 2019 (UTC)

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 07:59, 30 May 2019 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I GAVE you the reason... to retire gracefully! Do you NOT understand? Apparently not! NostalgiaBuff97501 (talk) 08:03, 30 May 2019 (UTC)

It has become painfully clear that I am no longer welcome here on Wikipedia. I have made the decision, which probably will NOT bother you in the slightest, to leave Wikipedia forever and never come back. I would like to go to my user page to retired permanently from Wikipedia, but your blocking me from my OWN user page shows that you have NO class, character or dignity whatsoever. Oh, and thank you for changing the template to no longer include all of the helmets I worked my ass off months and months and months to do for this crappy site. REAL nice of you! >:( All of the hard work and dedication put into making these articles look awesome flushed down the toilet. And you ALL could care less! Thanks for nothing!

I'm leaving Wikipedia on MY terms! Yes, that's a promise. I know you won't miss me, which all of us won't care. But mark my words, what goes around comes around! Bye, Felicia! It was NOT nice knowing you! Wikipedia: The Free Encyclopedia... MY ASS!!! NostalgiaBuff97501 (talk) 07:27, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
