Hello Nikthestoned. I am just letting you know that I deleted Harvey (2011 film), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which doesn't fit the page in question. Thank you. Salvio Let's talk about it! 14:46, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Our Information for Mobile Marketing Group has just been deleted under speedy deletion, this is incorrect - the information was a news release from the Direct Marketing Association DMA, The Government Body for Direct Marketing in the United Kingdom, how can it be classed as spam or advertising. They are an independent authority.

hi - can you check again ass is present and correct if you dont mind (new to wiki) - we have quite a detailed history but reluctant to post verbatim from the site as dont want google to see it as dupe content - any help/reccomendations appreciated. cheers — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamesjmoreton (talkcontribs) 10:12, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

ok - so you removed the references and re-instated the 'does not cite' tag - can you explain what was wrong with these please? also - what is wrong with the page in terms of 'wikified' Jamesjmoreton (talk) 10:18, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

updated - can you review agin pls? Jamesjmoreton (talk) 10:38, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, but internal wikilinks are not third party sources that back up the claims made in the article. You need to find this information mentioned elsewhere to support your claims... I think the official site is OK for the lead paragraph as this states only some simple facts - I'll add something there for you so you can see how this is done. gimme a bit Nikthestoned 10:53, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
k, thanks. as i said, new to this - and i didnt want it to be war and peace - just a stub as other wiki articles reference us. thanks for your help - if you can sort the formatting, it would be appreciated, and i'll send you a virtual pint. Jamesjmoreton (talk) 10:55, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Well, I've wikified as best I can with the limited information that the official site offered. The infobox is def. missing some fields so feel free to add some to this. I did look around for some third party sources but couldn't find any - to be honest I'm not sure the club meets Wikipedia's notability policy, but then neither do many of the other cricket clubs and their pages are still here. I think it's good enough for now, hopefully someone will find a 3rd party source or two! Nikthestoned 11:13, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks mate - appreciated - as and when i'll add to it (agree re: other clubs - theres limited info..) Jamesjmoreton (talk) 11:54, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi there. Wikipedia is not about researching topics yourself, or opinion, it's about adding verifiable material to encyclopedic articles. If you'd like to reword this to be encyclopedic and add some citations to support your additions they will not get reverted. Cheers Nikthestoned 09:05, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

I did a little Googling and can find no reference anywhere to reports of systematic, noteworthy cheating in this game. Hi Nikthestoned. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Nottingham Asphalt Tester, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. CSD A7 does not cover products or services. Ali Mohamad Kazma

Hi Nikthestoned, I am a new contributor to Wikipedia and just posted a new encyclopedic article about one Ali Mohamad Kazma, a very successful business tycoon in the region. I would also like to contribute more information on one of the business ventures and his other business partner the daughter of the Lebanese speaker of the house.

I have read the terms and policies of Wikipedia but I cannot figure out what seems to be the problem. Please advice me on editing the articles.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adminmoe (talkcontribs) 11:03, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Ali Mohamed Kazma does not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for people. If you can find some reliable third part sources to show that he does indeed meet these guidelines, this article should not be deleted. Nikthestoned 11:09, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
Thrd party sources such as news articles in various news prints are those considered valed ? And if so where do I post them ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adamcanwrite (talkcontribs) 11:26, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
You post them as in-line citations next to the claims they are supporting. Cheers, Nikthestoned 11:29, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Plese, do not delete article. Presently there are so much misinformation on internet, so at least let wikipedia be good source. Somebody even include someone like Narayana Maharaja as devotee, but he is as good as sahajiya/materialist (am I wrong?). So you better challenge those guys who write articles on eating holy cows (for which they certainly go to hell), drinking alcohols, smoking tobacco etc. That is proper use of intelligence. By the way, ASSUME GOOD FAITH. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HareKrishnaUpload (talkcontribs) 09:23, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi there. I searched Google and found less than 100 results for this person. This suggests to me that he does not meet Wikipedias policy on notability for BLPs. Coupled with the fact that you've created the page with no citations, I feel that the page should be speedy deleted. I also don't feel that the above is not assuming good faith, which you may want to read before quoting. Nikthestoned 09:30, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Gage Academy of Art

Hello Nikthestoned,

I am an intern working in the Communications Department here at Gage Academy of Art. I've been charged with updating their Wikipedia page to provide more accurate information for those interested in our school. I am new to the editing process, and it seems that I accidentally violated your external links policy. I have read the policy now, but I am still confused as to why the links to articles published in reputable newspapers and magazines (such as Seattle Magazine) were removed. Also, I understand that the artists' personal websites and the links leading to Gage Academy's official site were inappropriate, but why did you leave behind "Gary Faigin" and "Pamela Belyea"? What is acceptable about their links that was not acceptable in others? Please let me know so that I do not make any further errors.

Thank you, Ebrady90 (talk) 16:40, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Firstly, all I was actually doing was reverting your additions, for reasons previously discussed. I didn't go through the whole article really and as such didn't notice those 2 you mentioned - although I have removed them now! You could maybe add a link in the External Links section to a list of the staff, given a number of them are mentioned in the article.
Secondly, you should bear in mind that writing about your own company can be dangerous and you need to be especially careful to write with a neutral point of view and back up your claims with reliable sources as you do have quite a large conflict of interest.
The links from reputable magazines etc were regretably lost when I did the mass-revert, however they were simply listed in the external links section. These are useful in the article as inline citations, immediately following the facts they support. Have a look through these pages and let me know if you've any further questions! New user account to replace blocked account (StellarWiki)

Hi Nikthestoned,

I work in the marketing department of Stellar, an architecture, engineering and construction firm based in Jacksonville, Florida. Therefore, I have a conflict of interest as defined by Wikipedia regarding Stellar-related content. I'm here to contribute factual and verifiable information regarding Stellar.

You recently informed me that the StellarWiki account violated Wikipedia’s policy against usernames because it gives the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website. The account was subsequently blocked by another editor. I have now educated myself on Wikipedia's policies and guidelines and am committed to abiding by them. As such I created this new user account following the appropriate guidelines.

I also wanted to let you know that going forward my edits will be restricted to talk pages, and I will not engage in editing directly any Stellar-related page. Instead, I will volunteer information on the talk pages, and ask for Wikipedians' help. As such, any additional suggestions you have are more than welcome.

If you want to contact me, please leave a message on my talk page, or e-mail me at SHerrin@stellar.net.

Problem with name

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. However, I noticed that your username (Nikthestoned) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because Your user name appears to be a reference to illicit drug use. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you.

Question: Please, editor anonymous cite the exact passage from the WP:USERNAME which this editor's username violates. Mlpearc powwow 23:04, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

How do I make the 2 lists on my userpage side-by-side without moving them under the infobox?

I'm getting to work on it, just be patient.--The wikifyer's corner 18:50, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

What do you mean by "under the infobox"? Only a tiny piece is under it.--The wikifyer's corner 18:52, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the response! I'm not sure what you can see (as in, this might be a browser / OS issue!) but there's a massive gap between "My Articles" and "Pages I started" - it appears the "Pages I started" section has been aligned under the infobox. Can I stop it doing this? Nikthestoned 18:59, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
I can upload a screenshot, if that will help? Assuming that's allowed of course! Nikthestoned 19:21, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
I have modified your userpage to move the two lists beside the infobox with wrapping and without the break. Is this what you wanted? Cheers. Reaper Eternal (talk) 15:39, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
Many thanks for your assistance! This is pretty close, but not quite there... How do I shunt the right hand column further right so that it looks like a standard 2 column layout? As opposed to two columns hugging the left with a large gap to the right of it. I've attempted <div style="float:right"> and <div style="float:center"> but these appear to shunt all the way right, and nothing, respectively. How can something so easy to do usually be so tricky! Thanks again! Nikthestoned 15:54, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
I've modified the page again so the columns are now 50% of the width of the remaining space. Is this what you want? Reaper Eternal (talk) 16:57, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Could indeed, though given that this user 1) already has a userpage and 2) has recreated it in article-space after it was already speedy deleted once, makes me think they know full well how to create their own user page - hence the deletion template. Feel free to move instead =) Nikthestoned 10:13, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

being included on a userpage. It doesn't seem particularly civil, but I am unsure of the rules when it comes to userpages --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 10:52, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

New to this

Hi, I'm Michele Lamont's faculty assistant. I do not know who made her original page two years ago, but she instructed me to change and update it. I don't have time to fuss around, but I made the changes and you took them away. You want a credible source? It's all taken from her website which is linked at the bottom. What else would you like me to do, and could you help me so I don't have to spend 5 hours on Wikipedia trying to figure it out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Teclough (talkcontribs) 13:39, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi there. Given that you have quite a large conflict of interest, editing this page is not recommended. The best process in this situation is to create a section on the talk page, detailing the changes you'd like made to the article (and possibly the reasons for doing so) and a user will then update the page for you in due course. This is a way of ensuring the article maintains a neutral point of view. Additionally, while an official site is a good source of information for basic facts, it is not considered a reliable source for general information as it is self published. One final point re: your five hours comment, while the full gamut of rules on Wikipedia is pretty daunting, reading and understanding the "Five Pillars" of Wikipedia does not take a great deal of time. Cheers, Nikthestoned 13:55, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Who is a "user"? I thought that would be me? How is putting up current information and taking down old information not natural? Can I at least update her outdated CV that has no business being on there? The Harvard University website is far from "self-published". Preceding unsigned comment added by Teclough (talkcontribs)
A "user" is any other editor that does not have a large conflict of interest... Feel free to remove unsourced or incorrect information. Anything that you add, however, will *need* to be backed up by a reliable, impartial source directly supporting the statement, given the aforementioned POV issues that could be encountered. (Note, your updates did not include using The Harvard University website as a reference). Nikthestoned 15:27, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I did this. Directing people to see trailers on the official site sounds promotional to me. Hi there NIK, VASCO from Portugal here,

i see that you have reverted (duly!) this "user", who is only interested in writing rubbish in articles (not vandalism in the form of removal and/or obscenities, but idiocies galore), and he re-reverted you. I have removed EVERYTHING he "added" to David Mateos and Sebastián Saja, and warned him of the consequences should this behaviour continue.

I know i don't own WP, but believe me i will talk to an administrator if this guy continues with this un-encyclopedical approach. You, keep it up and have a great weekend - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 02:42, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Vasco, you too ^_^ Nikthestoned 17:28, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
  • He has replied to me, and basically said: "leave me alone, i want to write POV/WEASEL in the players of my team because i know them OK?" Can you do something about it, since i see you warned him again? Thanks! --Vasco Amaral (talk) 19:38, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
That's not really what he said at all. I do understand your frustration but we need to assume good faith here and try to ensure that BEN917 is aware of the various policies and requirements for additions to articles before doing anything bite-y. After all, most of the edits made after that last warning have actually been constuctive so hopefully we'll have well cited additions, with a bit of guidance instead of rash action. An official cite is enough to attribute some basic facts but it's more an external link than a source. Did you take a look at the links I provided above? Yes, re-writing the article would help if you can address the promotional tone of it, however it would not address the notability issue, which you can only address by establishing it through providing reliable sources. Sincerly Robert MrOxidizer1 mroxidizer1 comment added by Mroxidizer1 (talkcontribs) 11:57, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi. the reason this page was deleted was that it's an album article where there is no artist article. If the artist is not notable enough (see The notability policy for music) then any albums / releases are inherently not notable also. To create this article, you'll have to create the article for the artist, including some reliable sources from 3rd party publications to assert notability, then re-create this album page. Cheers, Nikthestoned 13:15, 12 July 2011 (UTC
Point taken. Thanks!
I dont know if the artist meet the criteria. http://cirexlab.com just in case, but I understand the reason if the deleting album. thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mroxidizer1 (talkcontribs) 15:05, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
That again is detailed in the notability guideline linked above. Basically, it's when they've released a studio album with a proper label that their notability is unassailable established. Nikthestoned 15:08, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Fung Shoe

Hello Nikthestoned, I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions as to how this might work on our Fung Shoe article ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anak Boss (talkcontribs) 09:35, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi Anak. Firstly, you need to note on your talk page that the other account, the one which created the article is yours, as this is not allowed. Secondly, you need to find some reliable sources in third party publications and add them as references to the article. Sufficient media coverage will establish notability for this concept and the article won't be removed. Cheers, Nikthestoned 09:42, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Firstly, the account that made the page of Fung Shoe does not belong to me. I received an e-mail with a URL leading me to Fung Shoe. I got the e-mail from a friend who had given me their book (What a piece of work), and said it had the history of how Fung Shoe in the book came to be. Secondly, They had a reliable source, as to what you implied as media coverage, but it received a "speedy deletion" alert because of it. I didn't think the author had seen the message so I changed it and removed what gave it the flagged message, only to find it got another warning message telling me it needed so and didn't know what to do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anak Boss (talkcontribs) 09:56, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Well, frankly I don't believe you, but that's my own problem I suppose. If you check out those links you will see that there were no reliable sources added to that article - a shop does not count as one, as you'll see when reading! Nikthestoned 10:04, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
I have removed those links, but a link to the book is a reliable source, for it was where Fung Shoe was created. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anak Boss (talkcontribs) 10:07, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey dude are you having fun ? Why can't you talk to the author of the page he probably will give you more info, but remember not everyone is on Wikipedia 24/7 so he might not look at your messages you send to him right away. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anak Boss (talkcontribs) 10:28, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
No, I am not having fun. I'm wasting my time dealing with a non-notable page which should be removed from Wikipedia as opposed to doing something constructive. I have removed your comment on the page and suggest you read Wikipedias policy on original research also. Nikthestoned 10:33, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Speedy template removed again

The user who created DR. WASUDEO JAIKRISHNA : A KRANTIKARI OF CHHATTISGARH : LIFE SKETCH removed the original speedy tag you placed in the article. He or she also removed my speedy tag twice. Page history here. I don't know the procedure on the English Wikipedia, e.g. if I restore the tag will it be a 3RR violation and if it is where do I seek admin assistance? Sjö (talk) 10:58, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi =). No, 3RR doesn't count when reinstating un-addressed maintenance templates. You should, however, have been warning the user that this is unacceptable behaviour, so I have issued a final warning (skipping levels 2 and 3!). If that doesn't work, the user would need to be reported to WP:AIV. Cheers! Nikthestoned 11:02, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
OK, thanks!Sjö (talk) 11:05, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

No Plan B Band

What happened here? Pkeets (talk) 12:46, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi. What is it that you don't understand? Can you provide some context please! Nikthestoned 13:01, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
I got a message on my talk page that the article was nominated for Speedy Deletion, but I gather it's already deleted and the link redirected? What was it? Your notes about it are unclear. Pkeets (talk) 13:08, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
There were two articles. "No Plan B Band" was deleted as a duplicate of the existing article Use It or Lose It Tour. No Plan B (band) was changed to a redirect pointing at the existing article (as you'll see if you click it!). That clear things up? Cheers, Nikthestoned 13:13, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
No. What was deleted? Did it contain info that should have been merged? I doubt that it was a perfect duplicate. Pkeets (talk) 13:17, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
It possibly did, I did not check. If you'd like to retrieve this page I'm sure you can ask an admin to userfy the page for you so you can check it out for yourself? Nikthestoned 13:21, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
You nominated it, right? Are you sure it was the same band? I recall looking at it before and thinking the two articles needed to remain. I've got a message in with the admin already. It's left a dead end link in the Roger Daltrey article. Pkeets (talk) 13:27, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
I nominated it under WP:CSD#A7 (incorrectly) though this was then amended. What with the page no longer being there I can't really say anything more I'm afraid... Nikthestoned 13:40, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps the delete shouldn't have been quite so speedy. Pkeets (talk) 13:54, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
Suppose that depends on what comes out of userfy'ing the page Nikthestoned 13:58, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm sure the decision to cut down the number of articles was correct, but it's more efficient to clear up questions about links before the deletions. Pkeets (talk) 14:00, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
You are indeed correct though I wasn't aware there were any outstanding questions at the time! Are you referring to the "associated act" on the page? Or the External Link style wikilink (that I just removed)? Nikthestoned 14:03, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

You've made a change in a system of articles. Any related changes should be linked to the main article and in the Roger Daltrey template. If the "Use it or lose it" tour is going to replace the band article, then it needs to be listed appropriately. The band article should be broader, BTW, as the tour article only details one tour and not subsequent activities with Daltrey. They're on tour again this year. How are you going to organize this? A separate article on each tour and nothing on the band? Pkeets (talk) 15:09, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Could we move this discussion to the Use it or lose it talk page? I'm duplicating a discussion with BWilkins. 15:43, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm not bothered what goes on now to be fair. I (may have) incorrectly tagged a page for speedy, which I apologise for. I shall leave the situation in your capable hands! Nikthestoned 15:46, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
Alright, I'll take it up with BWilkins. Pkeets (talk) 16:16, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
Quick note, here's the deleted text. Cheers, Nikthestoned 16:17, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you for reverting the vandalism to my user page! Much appreciated. --bonadea contributions talk 13:52, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Sandy Point High School

Reason why I created the page with that name is the fact that I went to the School when it was named Sandy Point High and would like the Page to still exist with a reference to Charles E. Mills because only Students as of this year Records would show the new name. Regards, Telbert — Preceding unsigned comment added by TelbertPyke (talkcontribs) 02:00, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi. The name on Wikipedia should be the official name so the move was correct. You'll notice that there is a redirect; Sandy Point High School; so that anyone searching for this term will arrive at the same page also. Nikthestoned 08:03, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi Nikthestoned, I removed the in-line links on the page, as you suggested. I would love to have an unbiased review of the article. Since you replied to my previous request for feedback, I looked at your talk page and determined you are about as unbiased as a human can be. Would you please do this for me? Thanks. Sassy Villainassy (talk) 13:50, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi Sassy, and thanks! I replied here. Note, I also moved your second comment to be after the first. Nikthestoned 14:55, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Pierluigi Crescenzi

Hello Nikthestoned. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Pierluigi Crescenzi, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: full Prof is enough to pass A7. It doesn't follow that he meets WP:PROF - there seems to be a lot of full Profs in that department . Consider AfD. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 15:29, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

No worries John, was not aware that "full professor" made someone notable enough to escape the clutcheso f A7! Thanks Nikthestoned 15:35, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
It's not a cast-in-stone rule, but A7 is a fairly low bar. One problem is that "Professor" means very different things in different countries. JohnCD (talk) 15:48, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

About "Checksums calculator"

Hello Mr. Nikthestoned. Product is non-notable!? Are you so sure? Did you know that is the unique checksums calculator program witch is cross-platform developed with an open source compiler? What do we hope to find in Google searches when application has been released only 4 days ago? From the other hand, I show a lot of similar articles in Wikipedia and really I don't understand why should be deleted. Anyway if must be deleted, of course I accept it, and I apologize to you all. Best regards Sideris-efthimios — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sideris-efthimios (talkcontribs) 14:55, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi Sideris. As you've put, how do you expect it to be notable if it was only released 4 days ago? I don't! Hence it should be removed, Wikipedia is not a Crystal Ball; it cannot assume future notability. Additionally, feel free to mark those articles which you feel are also unreferenced and / or not notable, as such; and should you not be able to find any reliable third party sources, feel free to nominate for deletion. Just because bad articles exist is not an excuse to let more bad articles exist! Nikthestoned 15:16, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

More specific information on marking extreme qr code for speedy deletion

could you please be more specific for why you request the speedy delete? it sure is no hoax, it works just fine.Qrc-designer (talk) 14:45, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I could not find one reference online for "Extreme QR Code" (not even an official site) - so I assumed it was not a legitimate product. When creating articles, you need to provide some reliable sources so that this sort of thing will not occur. I suggest you read this easy guide on creating your first article for pointers. Cheers, Nikthestoned 14:55, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Have amended to a merge request into QR Code instead. Nikthestoned 15:01, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Hi! Thanks for the explanation. The name is quite new but there are a couple of sites. I am afraid links will be considered spam. One of my intentions of putting it on wikipedia was to prevent the name from getting registered as a trademark as it seems to have happened to "design qr". Best! Qrc-designer (talk) 15:29, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Err, not entirely sure what you mean by that last comment - Wikipedia is neither a trademark registration office nor a collection of all companies. 3rd party references will not be removed - it's just about making sure you check the links offer a neutral point of view and are not simply advertising / commercial in nature. Nikthestoned 15:34, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, I pressed the save button before I had finished hence it was incomplete, I will re-vamp the page adding new sources shortly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Delboy59 (talkcontribs) 16:38, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks re article User:JohnW130/Matt Bullen

Thank you very much for tidying the references, etc. JohnW130 (talk) 13:46, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

No worries! I actually have a bookmarklet that does it for me, so I can't take all the credit! ;o) Nikthestoned 14:26, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
OK, thanks! Please would you also advise me, if you have a moment, about when/whether to (attempt to) move this article to the main site? Also, I noticed that one of your edits seemed to be marked "(+ categories)", but I can no longer see any categories attached to the article. (If that's deliberate and "good practice", I'm fine with that).JohnW130 (talk) 14:49, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
I did actually put a response on your original request stating why the categories were commented out (if you edit it you'll see they're at the end, just hidden!). Basically, anything on a userpage shouldn't show in the normal categories. You can indeed move to the main article space, just hit the "move" button at the top of the page and delete out the "User:JohnW130/" bit! Make sure you delete the bit around the categories out when you do this also. Nikthestoned 14:53, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Aah, I see that categories note now! Apologies. I have taken away the bit around them (<!..., etc. - hope that's correct!) Am moving to main space. Thank you again. JohnW130 (talk) 15:02, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Yup, that's what I meant! It's actually a standard XML comment, so's ya know! =) And no worries, Nikthestoned 15:05, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Hm. It won't let me move it. I'm certainly not blocked. JohnW130 (talk) 15:07, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Think it might be only something you can do after autoconfirmed or something - have moved for you ;o) Nikthestoned 15:11, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Makes sense. Again, thanks. Looks good: the "unreviewed article" box will stay for a while, I guess, which is dandy. JohnW130 (talk) 15:16, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure who removes them - I tend not to! The page User:JohnW130/Matt Bullen still exists as a redirect by the way. If you'd like it removed just edit it (by clicking the (Redirected from User:JohnW130/Matt Bullen) under the title of the page you end up on), replace the entire content with {{db-u1}} and it will be removed shortly. Nikthestoned 15:21, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
I went to look and that "redirect" line is gone. Gone into the mist. Fine with me.  :-) JohnW130 (talk) 15:33, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Is still there for me! I requested deletion for you anyways, there is no point in it remaining... Nikthestoned 15:44, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
I much appreciate that. JohnW130 (talk) 15:48, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, thank you for improving yet another citation link, via the method you outlined to me before. Bookmarklets, etc., seem so easy but somehow I must be doing something wrong: I can only seem to post the 'raw' or less stable version of a link which does not achieve the "accessed by / retrieved by" phrase. Any help appreciated: I'm sure it's something obvious. Thanks again. :-) JohnW130 (talk) 01:02, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi again John. To get reflinks working you need to do this:
  • Go to this page: link; and drag one of the "Reflinks" bookmarklets to your shortcut bar on your browser, or into your bookmarks menu.
  • Enter a reference on the page you are editing without using the citation template, so simply add (as you have been doing I believe) something like this: <ref>http://www.foo.com</ref>
  • Click on your bookmarklet while viewing the page you've just saved / changed, it should take you to the reflinks page and show you all the pending changes. You will need to log in first, importing your Wikipedia information over to it. The box is in the top right.
  • Review the changes (it sometimes gets it wrong!) and Save the changes. You're back in Wikipedia and your refs are now citations =)
Nikthestoned 10:46, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for these steps, Nik. This is a great help. Will try them. :-) JohnW130 (talk) 14:37, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

No worries, give me a shout if you get stuck! Nikthestoned 14:44, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
