Guild of Copy Editors May 2011 backlog elimination drive report
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors May 2011 Backlog elimination drive. Thank you for participating!
There were 63 signups for the drive; of these, 45 participated. Although we did not award a bonus for articles from the Requests page this drive, we are not experiencing lengthy delays in getting the articles processed. Many thanks to editors who have been helping out at the Requests page and by copy editing articles from the backlog.
During the month of May we reduced the backlog by approximately 10%, and made remarkable progress on eliminating articles tagged from 2009. There are now only 15 articles left, down from the 415 that were present when the drive started. Since our backlog drives began in May 2010 with 8,323 articles, we have cleared more than 54% of the backlog. A complete list of results and barnstars awarded can be found here. Barnstars will be distributed over the next week. If you enjoyed participating in our event, you may also like to join the Wikification drives, which are held on alternate months to our drives. Their June drive has started.
The six-month term for our first tranche of Guild coordinators will be expiring at the end of June. We will be accepting nominations for the second tranche of coordinators, who will also serve a six-month term. Nominations will open starting on June 5. For complete information, please have a look at the election page. Please feel free to contact any coordinator if you have any questions or need assistance. Your project coordinators are S Masters (talk), Diannaa (Talk), Tea with toast (Talk), Chaosdruid (talk), and Torchiest (talk). |

Ice Nine Kills
You may or may not have heard of the metalcore band Ice Nine Kills (good band, but here's where I wanna get down to business...) there is a big debate going on as to weather the article should be deleted or not & well I just want more parties to be invited to this because personally I believe the article should be kept. They're signed to Ferret without to mention if you check out that page it shows so much more reason for it to be kept. We've assisted each other on this site several times before, so consider this invitation =) ~ GunMetal Angel 19:04, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Weis and Penrod
Just wanted to say thanks for reminding me on Talk: Iron Butterfly that Danny Weis and Jerry Penrod were both members of Rhinoceros. I did some research on Weis through his Rhino connection and was able to find some good sources that way! Weis's article is still Start Class at best, but it's a lot better than it was before. Again, thanks; if you hadn't said something we might have simply merged that article.--Martin IIIa (talk) 12:19, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

WikiProject Wikify Discussion Invitation
Hi there! You are receiving this message because you are a participant of WikiProject Wikify. After the retirements of our first two executive coordinators, Mono and Guoguo12, WikiProject Wikify is undergoing a period of transition. We are currently holding a discussion to create a plan for the future, find volunteers to help fill our many administrative positions, collect any feedback about what has happened in the last six months, propose some new guidelines, and see if there are any creative ideas to increase participation. We appreciate your input! |

GOCE drive invitation
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors
The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting. This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated. We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". |

Next Children's Museum Backstage Pass
Hello! I wanted to personally invite you to The Children's Museum of Indianapolis' 2nd Backstage Pass and Edit-a-Thon, which will occur on Saturday, August 20. The Wikipedian in Residence project is coming up on one year and is going strong. While the first year focused on garnering institutional enthusiasm among staff, organizing multiple content donations, and guiding teens in research and article creation, the next year will focus on establishing an E-Volunteer program and more deliberately connecting with local Wikipedians and WikiProjects around the world. You can read a summary of our projects on the museum's blog, or visit the project page.
We hope you're able to attend the upcoming Backstage Pass! If you're not able to attend, but are interested in remaining involved and up to date on the museum's Wikipedia project, please sign up on our E-Volunteer page. There will also be an opportunity to participate in the Edit-a-Thon online, if you cannot attend on-site. If you'd like to make a request for images or research content from our curators, you can add to the Requests page. Let me know if you have any questions and I hope to be in touch! LoriLee (talk) 11:39, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
- Not a problem! Thanks for touching base and best of luck as you start school! You can stay in touch if you're interested in how things are going. But I understand how busy it is getting off to school.LoriLee (talk) 19:16, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Guild of Copy Editors July 2011 backlog elimination drive report
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2011 Backlog elimination drive. Thank you for participating! Here is your end-of-drive report.
50 people signed up for the drive, of which 39 participated. Thanks to all who copy edited articles and helped us reduce the backlogs in both the total articles and requests. We offered a bonus for copy edits from the Requests page, and have been somewhat successful in reducing that backlog, as a record 89 new requests were received in the month of July.
During the month of July we reduced the backlog by 338 articles, or by about 8.5%. We did not reach our goal of a 10% reduction, but we came close, and did very well considering the small size of the group participating. Since our Backlog elimination drives began in May 2010, we have reduced the backlog by 4,708 articles. End-of-drive results can be found here. We will be handing out barnstars within the next week or two.
Please remember that the GOCE Requests page is receiving a high number of requests, with the number of August requests already above three per day. Any assistance to help keep the backlog down would be greatly appreciated. Our next drive will be in September. We hope to see you there! Your drive coordinators – Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02 and SMasters |

Question
Hi, as you do a lot of work with music articles, I thought you could help with a question.
Per this discusion, are discography lists self-published by a band on their website(s) reliable as sources for record label(s) which released the albums?--¿3family6 contribs 16:07, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
Epica edit
The edit I did for the Epica page was because the Line up section was running right into the picture right about it. Out side of what I did I have no idea how to fix it so that does not happen. If you know off better way let me know.--Epica124 (talk) 16:14, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Thank you it looks much better now. :) I would have done it but again I was not really sure how. --Epica124 (talk) 19:37, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Because of various notable artists' songs and also for completing various artists discography. I think if this compilation was a metal only record, you could find too many sources and reviews. He is attested during the three reigns of Nazi-Maruttash, Kadashman-Turgu and Kadashman-Enlil II so I think his career is long. He was the author of the “Eighteen prescriptions for headache” medical text and he was loaned to Muwatalli II and was the subject of a dispute between Kadashman-Enlil II and Hattusili III so I think he was prominent and fairly illustrious. Perhaps you could check out the main reference before reaching a conclusion. I am open to interpretation concerning about the term “illustrious”, but it would be unfortunate if physicians prior to the modern era were unable to be illustrious just because they don’t meet the modern criteria.BigEars42 (talk) 22:31, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
- What about compromising on "lengthy" (we will never actually know the dates of his career beginning and end) and "well attested"?BigEars42 (talk) 22:44, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Review request: Another Agalloch's: Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer
Hi again. I need your help. This new article requires some more edits. Please contribute. Article: Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer. Thanks. Winter Gaze (talk) 10:52, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Re: The pages you brought to my attention
Thanks again. These three articles still need work and I will work on them. One question: How can I remove the "unreviewed" tag/template from The Compendium Archive and Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer (album)? Do I have to call other editors/reviewers? Because the other article (List of post-metal bands) is passed this step. I want to work on the new articles and the current status of these 2 articles is not clear for me. Winter Gaze (talk) 07:20, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
- I think when someone other than creator(s) reviews an article, that "unreviewed" tag/template can be removed by the reviewer. If the article does not meet Wikipedia quality (at least), article will be tagged by the other editors to inform the creator. So I think there is no problem to remove it. Speedy deletion nomination of Noekk
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Noekk requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. MikeWazowski (talk) 15:02, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Recent edits (references removed by the another user and big changes)
The Compendium Archive and Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer (album) again need your review. References are removed and big change made to the last revision. Thanks. Winter Gaze (talk) 22:22, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Wikipedia policy allows us to link to legal streamed copies of albums. It would be useful to draw up a guideline on how and when to link to such albums; however, there is concern that it may not be appropriate as the music would not be available in all parts of the world. Is the benefit of having access to the music for most users outweighed by the fact that some users will follow a link to find the music is not playable in their region? Your view would be helpful at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums. SilkTork ✔Tea time 01:53, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Children's Museum update
It's time again to share the latest news on the Children's Museum of Indianapolis Wikipedia project! In the last few months we have been busy with our third image donation, which was made up of 150 images that were professionally photographed specifically for this upload. We are asking for volunteers to categorize these images and distribute them into Wikipedia articles. Your help is appreciated! Check them out here.
We have also donated our first video and a second GLAM-Wiki Infographic to Commons. In September we were thrilled to welcome Jimmy Wales to the museum. Following our successful Edit-a-Thon and Translate-a-Thon in August, translations have continued with the help of the established QRpedia community, (particularly Russian translations thanks to Lvova!) We have begun to analyze our implementation of QRpedia codes and completed an extensive case study. In November we presented at the Museum Computer Network conference about how museums can effectively collaborate with Wikipedia. You can see more details on the Prezi.
In more general news, in addition to serving as the Children's Museum's Wikipedian-in-Residence, it was recently announced that I will be taking on the role of US Cultural Partnerships Coordinator for the Wikimedia Foundation. In this role I will be working to streamline the process of connecting interested US GLAMs with the Wikipedia community. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to let me know. Be sure to sign up for This Month in GLAM to keep up with the latest GLAM-Wiki news from around the world (subscribe).
We have a listing of High Need and Moderate Need requests on the Ways to Help section on the project page. I encourage you to lend a hand if you're able. While the Children's Museum partnership continues to truck along, we still are in desperate need of volunteers to help disperse our images and update and maintain content. Thank you for your time and help. Happy holidays! LoriLee (talk) 16:45, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
