Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Church of God in Christ into List of Jurisdictions of the Church of God in Christ. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:42, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

[edit]File permission problem with File:Bishop Charles Edward Blake.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Bishop Charles Edward Blake.png, which you've attributed to SAVAGE GRAPHICS, LLC. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ✗plicit 07:13, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

Proper way to insert images in infoboxes
[edit]Hello @Mjones3927. I am @Archer1234. I noticed your recent edit to Charles Edward Blake Sr. where you added an image to the infobox. I want to let you know that the way you added the image was not done according to Wikipedia's Manual of Style (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE).
- When adding an image to an infobox, thumbnails should NOT be used. Simply supplying the file name will work. For example, to use File:Image PlaceHolder.png, you can simply use
|image=Image PlaceHolder.png
. Captions should be specified with the|caption=
parameter. Every infobox is different and the documentation for the infobox in question should be consulted for the proper parameters to match the image and caption.
- To fix
Do not use the full image syntax:
|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]
Instead, just supply the name of the image. So, in this case you can simply do:
|image=SomeImage.jpg
and optionally:
|caption=Some image caption
.
Hopefully you will find this information useful for your future editing. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask. — Archer1234 (talk) 18:22, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
Explanation needed for revert at Talbert W. Swan II
[edit]Hello @Mjones3927. I am @Archer1234. I was notified that you reverted an edit I made to Talbert W. Swan II, but you did not provide a valid explanation for the reversion. Would you please reply with an explanation for the reversion? Thank you. — Archer1234 (talk) 19:17, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, that was a mistake. I was removing vandalism to the page and reverted your edits. I subsequently put your edits back in place regarding children and using "education" instead of "alma mater" Mjones3927 (talk) 19:21, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
License tagging for File:Bishopswancathedra.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Bishopswancathedra.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:30, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Bishopswancathedra.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Bishopswancathedra.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Adeletron 3030 (talk • edits) 12:30, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

[edit]You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Talbert W. Swan II. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Isabelle Belato 🏳🌈 21:55, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
- Good Day! FYI, I did seek to resolve the dispute via both the user's talk page and the subject talk page. I also previously requested temporary page protection because of the amount of vandalism done to this page.
- Thank you Mjones3927 (talk) 21:59, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
- Isabelle, I noticed your message to CobaltWriter and noted that the user did not receive the warning that he could be blocked from editing. I also noted that you expressed your "understanding" of the user's frustration and impulse to revert changes. It seems your messages to the two of us had very different tones. Mjones3927 (talk) 22:04, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Mjones3927. I simply left the "softer" version of the warning on their userpage due to them being newer to Wikipedia. In the future, if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, first warn the other editor they are edit warring after their third revert. If they revert again, stop reverting and report them to WP:ANEW, where and administrator will intervene before it escalates further. Isabelle Belato 🏳🌈 22:30, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Mjones3927. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Talbert W. Swan II, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Mjones, time to explain precisely what your relation with the subject is. Please read the relevant policy and act accordingly. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 03:23, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I do not have a conflict of interest with the subject.
