Interaction bans and the Lightbreather ArbCom case

[edit]

Editors banned from interacting with Lightbreather are reminded that the banning policy states that:

"if editor X is banned from interacting with editor Y, editor X is not permitted to:reply to editor Y in discussions or make reference to or comment on editor Y anywhere onWikipedia, whether directly or indirectly".

This includes case talk pages. However, while the Committee allows editors some leeway to respond to statements about them on the evidence and workshop case pages, they may not participate in the case except to respond with statements about allegations that have been made about them and may not make direct communication. Such statements that they do make must be brief, to the point, and civil. Editors with interaction bans who fail to comply with the letter or spirit of this very limited exemption will be treated as though they breached the interaction ban. "Big 10" task force / subproject?

[edit]

Some of the biggest importers and manufacturers in the United States are still missing articles on them or their products. For example, some of the Freedom Group subsidiaries don't have articles yet. Is it worth creating a task force or trying to do a push on the firearms project page to get better coverage of the top 10 (or 20 or whatever) manufacturers/importers? Or would the time spent trying to get it off the ground be better used on simply improving the articles? Faceless Enemy (talk) 02:44, 8 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lightbreather arbitration case: special arangements

[edit]

Because of the unusual number of potential participants with interaction bans in the Lightbreather case, the committee has made special arrangements to enable i-banned editors to post and respond evidence about each other. These are as follows:

1. All i-bans and associated restrictions are suspended for the purpose of participating on the /Evidence page. This suspension extends solely and exclusively to the /Evidence page but some tolerance will be given on the /Evidence talk page to link to material on the /Evidence page.

2. For simplicity, and for the purposes of this case only, one-way i-bans are regarded as two-way i-bans.

3. Threaded interactions of any description between participants are prohibited on both the /Evidence and the /Evidence talk pages.

4. Similar arrangements apply to /Workshop page and the /Workshop talk page.

The original announcement can be found here. For the Arbitration Committee, --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:58, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello from the team at Featured article review!

[edit]

We are preparing to take a closer look at Featured articles promoted in 2004–2010 that may need a review. We started with a script-compiled list of older FAs that have not had a recent formal review. The next step is to prune the list by removing articles that are still actively maintained, up-to-date, and believed to meet current standards. We know that many of you personally maintain articles that you nominated, so we'd appreciate your help in winnowing the list where appropriate.

Please take a look at the sandbox list, check over the FAs listed by your name, and indicate on the sandbox talk page your assessment of their current status. Likewise, if you have taken on the maintenance of any listed FAs that were originally nominated by a departed editor, please indicate their status. BLPs should be given especially careful consideration.

Thanks for your help! Maralia (talk) 19:42, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My edits to Smith & Wesson Model 500

[edit]

Hi, you thanked me for my edits to Smith & Wesson Model 500 but in truth, after googling around a bit I am starting to suspect that revolver doesn't pass the WP:GNG. You seem to be interested in firearms, do you think it's likely that references can be found to verify the notability of that revolver? Anyway, always nice to be noted so thanks. AadaamS (talk) 18:31, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

(WP:TPS) The S&W Model 500 is plenty notable. Did you check Google books? It looks like it was even the subject of a congressional debate, which referenced an article in the LA Times. Faceless Enemy (talk) 18:58, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Faceless Enemy:, I suspect that my Google results are very different since I don't live in the US and I am not a firearms enthusiast either, so with no previous firearm searches in Google database history for me I suspect they don't give me good matches. I have already nominated the Smith & Wesson Model 460 article for deletion on the same grounds before I started suspecting Google behaviour as the reason I didn't find sources. Also, did you include the WP:TPS link to tell me that I should have started this discussion on the talk page of the S&W 500 article? AadaamS (talk) 19:07, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@AadaamS: Ah. It seems Google's smartness has actually been counterproductive. And no, I included it as an explanation for why I was chiming in on something you had asked Mike. Though I guess the discussion probably does belong there. Faceless Enemy (talk) 19:33, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Edit: I have nominated the S&W Model 460, not the 500. See the deletion discussion: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Smith_%26_Wesson_Model_460 AadaamS (talk) 20:19, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lightbreather arbitration case closed

[edit]

This arbitration case has been closed and the final decision is available at the link above. The following remedy relates to you:

6A) All interactions bans affecting Lightbreather are taken over by the Arbitration Committee and placed under the committee's direct jurisdiction. The default i-ban exceptions remain in place but improper use of them by Lightbreather is sanctionable as an i-ban evasion. For consistency and ease of administration, the i-bans may be enforced by any uninvolved administrator as an arbitration enforcement action but any resultant appeals may be made only to the committee and only by email. For the avoidance of doubt, this paragraph applies to the following interaction bans:
  1. Mike Searson (one-way)
  2. Hell in a Bucket (two-way)
  3. Eric Corbett (two-way)
  4. Sitush (one-way)
  5. Scalhotrod (two-way)

Medford knife And tool - new draft

[edit]

Hello Mike, This is my Draft, You are more then welcome to take a look, a let me know what you think, Thanks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Medford_Knife_and_Tool_-_M.K.T#Products Eytankey (talk) 16:47, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I know you have an interest in this draft. In a way, so do I. I think they make good looking and practical tools. I'd quite like to own one of their products despite having no actual use for one. Unfortunately I had to decline it today, and have given a long comment on the draft regarding my rationale. Since I saw your comment there I have, in part, addressed that as well as the article. I think the issue faced is that sources on boutique manufacturers are hard as rocking horse shit to find. Couple this with the earlier AFD result and the article is in grave danger were it to be accepted, even in this improved state. Are you able to devote some time to working with Eytankey to see what substantial references can be found? It may just be too soon in the org;s life of course. Iguana, Physignathus, Cyclura or somewhat else?

[edit]

Dear colleague, couldn't you help me with identification of this lizard: commons:file:Washington DC Zoo - Physignathus cocincinus 1.jpg? The filename says that it is Physignathus cocincinus, but I have seen some suspects that it is an unusually colored Iguana iguana. I tried to investigate this question and it seems that Iguana iguana should have a very big round scale at the lower base of the head (commons:category:Iguana iguana heads), but this specimen lacks it. And it somewhat resembles Cyclura lewisi. Is this specimen identifiable at all (at least to family)? Stas (talk) 22:19, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
