Draft:1985 Bangladesh cyclone

[edit]

You have uploaded the track file in Commons for this Cyclone. However it existed existed already and I had to 1) replace it in your draft, 2) Ask for deletion of your upload as it constitute a duplicate. Please, in the future verify in Commons if the file exist before uploading a new one.

Your contributed article, 1985 Bangladesh Cyclone

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, 1985 Bangladesh Cyclone. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – :Draft:1985 Bangladesh cyclone. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at :Draft:1985 Bangladesh cyclone. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. ~ KN2731 {talk · contribs} 06:29, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Costa Verde (Peru), requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

I see that you have received four messages about copyright infringements, three referring to internal copying from Wikipedia pages, and one referring to external copying from another source. Please take such warnings seriously. Editors who persist in editing in unacceptable ways after being informed of the relevant issues may be blocked from editing by administrators. JBW (talk) 08:43, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Since posting the above message I have found that you have similarly posted a substantial amount of copied material in at least one other page, after receiving messages warning you about doing so. JBW (talk) 08:49, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for persistently copying material without attribution. You have been warned about this several times, and eventually warned that continuing to do the same would be likely to result in being blocked from editing. Knowing that, you chose to continue. When the block is over please take care to edit in accordance with Wikipedia's policies, and, even more importantly, with copyright law. Failure to do so may result in being blocked from editing for a longer time. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: .  JBW (talk) 18:46, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am aware this is "in progress" but if that means "entirely unsourced" (and that is what offering nothing but WP links amounts to) then the article has no business being in mainspace. Please get into some acceptable shape while in drfat, then move to mainspace. Elmidae (talk · contribs) 16:48, 28 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give 2001 India cyclone a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into 2001 Gujarat cyclone. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. You have been blocked temporarily from editing for copying content of articles without attribution. Since you have previously been blocked for the same reason, and that block failed to persuade you to change your ways, this time the block is for a much longer time. If you continue to ignore Wikipedia policies you will eventually be blocked indefinitely. Almost all of us, when we start editing Wikipedia, know little or nothing about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, so nobody can be blamed for starting out doing things that are contrary to policies and guidelines that they don't know about. However, continuing to do the same things after being told about the relevant policies and guidelines is a different matter.JBW (talk) 17:15, 30 July 2021 (UTC). Great. To be unblocked before the block expires, you will need to tell us what you have done and how you will edit differently in the future. As this request does not do that, I am declining it. 331dot (talk) 06:39, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I added WP links to a draft, thats why I got blocked. I will not do copyright stuff, i will make useful contributions from now on. Meteorological Person (talk) 14:27, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Adding WP links to a draft without anything else made it unsourced, which was bad for that draft, but was not the reason you were blocked. That was the non-attribution copyright issue, and you need to expand on that and show in your own words what you did wrong and how you would go about avoiding it in the future Nosebagbear (talk) 12:02, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently copying material without attribution. I regret having to block you indefinitely for a problem which could so easily be avoided, but it seems nothing else works. You have twice been blocked for short periods for the same reason, you have been warned that continuing might lead to an indefinite block, the last time you were blocked you explicitly said that you would not continue to copy material without attribution, and since then you have received further talk page messages about the problem, yet none of those has deterred you from continuing in the same way.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: .  JBW (talk) 14:16, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Meteorological Person. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "List of Deadliest Tropical Cyclones in the World".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 07:20, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
