Gregory Gray
[edit]hello there...i'm gregory gray aka mary cigarettes .. i edited my wiki simply to make it clearer and more accurate....i'm not completely sure how wiki works but someone thinks i'm doing something wrong, and i'd like to learn what it is.....who is mercurywoodrose...do i know you?...can i help?....i was a actually grabbing bits of time to develop the wiki....so i'd only just begun...i can't even work out how to respond to an message personally,so please bear with me as i learn...all i wanted was to give the details and best reference, and i would build that up over the course of time...gregory gray is the name on my passport...i was born paul lerwill, but the name changed was all encompassing beyond records...i'm not irish, though i was born there,my musically formative time was also or even mostly singapore and scotland...my mother is english and my father was indian/english...i didn't realise the pieces i removed from the wiki would upset anyone,i just wanted to build it up afresh and source what was more accurate, and i suppose the best place to start was to start from my own weblinks...if anyone wishes to communicate with me,could they consider writing to me through one of my one weblinks since i find it an easier flow, until i've worked out how the wiki works...maybe you can help me. yours with warmth gregory — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mary cigarettes (talk • contribs) 07:41, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Francisco Jiménez (writer)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Francisco Jiménez (writer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://fbbi.info/pages/The_Circuit_Stories_from_the_Life_of_a_Migrant_Child_112421742103784. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. reddogsix (talk) 02:50, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
DYK for SS City of Chester
[edit]On 30 April 2014, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article SS City of Chester, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that in 1888, in San Francisco Bay, RMS Oceanic rammed SS City of Chester and cut through her "as though she was a cheese" (accident pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/SS City of Chester. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Hyperaccumulators table
[edit]Brassica juncea Indian mustard Cd(A), Cr(A), Cu(A), Pb(A), Pb(P), Urr(A), Zn(A)
Here's the entry from another of the similar tables:
Brassica juncea L. Indian mustard Cd(A), Cr(A), Cu(H), Ni(H), Pb(H), Pb(P), U(A), Zn(H)
This line on the table improperly links one of the elements here. Urr is linking to a city. I'm not sure if it means to say Uranium though. I only noticed it because a IFLS article about a hyperaccumulator linked to this list.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperaccumulators_table_%E2%80%93_2_:_Nickel
I saw you were a recent editor on that one, and thought you might want to make that change... as I'm not exactly sure what the correct change would be.
I found the entry from another table. It does seem to show that it takes up Uranium.

Shot "with a firearm"
[edit]Hi Mercurywoodrose,
I haven't done a lot of of editing. Please feel free to give me advice, feedback, etc.
Looking at the Michael Jace article, the information that Jace shot his wife "with a firearm" struck me as a little awkward and unnecessary.
What if I added such qualifiers everywhere? For example 'Jace also called the police himself and stated "I shot my wife."', could become 'Jace also called the police [with a cellphone] himself and stated "I shot my wife."'
Thank you for your consideration.

Kenn Davis
[edit]Thanks for your comments. Excuse my inexperience. (I hope I use this user talk page correctly.) I understand that Wikipedia looks for press coverage of paintings as a verification source. I fear that leaving out the list of paintings would reduce him to "just" a mystery novel writer. But I believe he considered himself foremost a painter. I include only paintings that are included in http://kenndavis-art.com/ AND that I know from other sources including personally from his widow. I am currently working on getting a photograph of some of his paintings under creative commons. Would it be ok if I reduce the list of paintings to a few instead deleting it altogether? I am thinking of including at least
- 1957 - Impression of Actor Ben Gazzara,
- 1959 - Richard Brautigan as a Young Poet,
- 1961 - A Man Possessed,
- 1986 - New York, New York.
Since both Gazzara and Brautigan are notable persons, it should be of interest who made portraits of them. Moreover, the Brautigan portrait is mentioned on p. 141 in "Jubilee Hitchhiker: The Life and Times of Richard Brautigan" by William Hjortsberg, Counterpoint, Reprint edition (February 12, 2013), a reference I would include in the article. I believe the 1961 painting got press coverage in exhibitions; I hope to find the press coverage in an archive. Moreover, I want to get a photograph of it under creative commons and include to this article. The 1986 painting can be publicly viewed in the foyer of Hotel Wales NYC.
I am not clear how the approval process works in Wikipedia. What do I need to do to get this article approved?
Again, thank you for your comments. Any further help is very much appreciated. (Bcschipper (talk) 07:33, 31 May 2014 (UTC))
- Thanks for the response. O.k., I plan to shorten the list of paintings. Moreover, I added some general comments on his paintings to the article draft (plus some info on his friendship with Richard Brautigan). I was also surprised that there is no Wikipedia article on John Stanley (as I was surprised that there is none on Kenn Davis). I believe that I lack proper expertise to create one on John Stanley (plus I am a bit disappointed that the review process at Wikipedia apparently takes a month). If one wants to create a Wikipedia article on John Stanley, then http://kenndavis.wordpress.com/ may contain some useful information. Again, thanks for your comments. Interested in doing a PR?
[edit]Hey, seeing as how you were having some fun with horse racing articles, would you like to give me your opinion on California Chrome? I have it at PR here: Wikipedia:Peer review/California Chrome/archive1 and have one real good review but would like one more before I run it up the FAC flagpole. In particular, I am having trouble figuring out what now is necessary and not necessary for the story - I added a lot of material as the Triple Crown season advanced in real time, not all of which is relevant now that we know how the story turned out. The horse is on a 6-8 week break before coming back into race training, so this is the perfect time to tune up the article. Your candid thoughts would be much appreciated! [edit]Hi Mercurywoodrose, I am a fairly new editor to Wikipedia and am interested in improving the Armour and Company article for citations that are correct and verifiable. I noticed you made a few edits on this page and would appreciate your feedback and assistance. There is a broken link for the first citation: "...Philip Danforth Armour and John Plankinton dissolved their partnership in 1884 with the Milwaukee operation eventually becoming the Cudahy Packing Company. [1]" How do you propose that this may be corrected? Can it be deleted and replaced with a "citation needed" marker? Thank you so much. Presto808 (talk) 16:25, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
