Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited William Hespeler, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gretna (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Thanks, references and citations

[edit]

Recently you have made many new edits to Mennonite related Wikipedia pages, I just wanted to say thank you! I actually know much of what you have posted to be true. We do however have to follow Wikipedia's Manual of Style and in order to be able to verify sources we need to add the citations to the articles. Do see WP:Cite for more information on how to add these sources, it is imperative that we do this. Thanks again for all your great work, now to add the verifiability. Hi, I want to ask you a favour, could you do not restore the "People from Winnipeg" and "People from Manitoba" categories, because there is already a category titled "Artists from Winnipeg" for it's subcategories. The person is improving the edits for the Kent Monkman article. Also I apologize by removing the Artists from Winnipeg category. If you can accept my apology in exchange do not restore the respective categories "People from Winnipeg" and "People from Manitoba" if you can accept the editor's apology and the "Artists from Winnipeg' will be kept and leave it alone. I hope the resolution will be solved. I will be happy for your reply. Thanks. 2605:8D80:444:5159:910B:1F16:2498:B131 (talk) 04:42, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Preservings

[edit]

Hello, Mennowiki. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Preservings".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

If this was the first article that you created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

The page Marvin Francis has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from https://main.lib.umanitoba.ca/francis-marvin;isaar?limit=10&sf_culture=en. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion ReviewDiannaa (talk) 17:17, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. - FlightTime (open channel) 21:06, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mennowiki,

It is important, especially when tagging a PROD, to state what you are doing in an edit summary. Should the PROD tag be removed, it's important that editors can see that the article has already been PROD'd once and that is usually seen by scanning edit summaries in a page's edit history. Please always leave a relevant edit summary. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:12, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Blumenort, Manitoba, you may be blocked from editing. First you went to the person's biography, add unsourced content saying the person lived in Blumenort, then you went back and added him as a notable person. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:07, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What is the Wikipedia policy regarding changing unsourced content with other unsourced content? It seems odd you'd defend the original wording as if it was somehow more legitimate than mine, since, it too, was unsourced. The fact that I changed the wording doesn't make the content any more or less unsourced than it already was. I agree there should be a citation there, which is why I added it, but there's no reason to flag it as somehow disruptive, since it was never sourced information to begin with. Mennowiki (talk) 21:33, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would also suggest that your automatic deletion of the content on the Blumenort and Royden Loewen page contravenes a number of recommendations listed here: Wikipedia:Verifiability/Removal of Unsourced Material. For example, regarding biographies of living persons, "contentious material in such articles that is unsourced or poorly sourced should be removed immediately." Rewording an article to say he lived in, rather than only attended school, in a certain community is not "contentious material" that needs to be removed immediately. Nor is it an "apparently ridiculous claim" or obvious vandalism. Furthermore, the guidelines state that "deleting a claim because it is inadequately cited is a decision that should be taken with consideration and care, and is not a call that contributors should make on unfamiliar topics." I'd be glad to hear about the consideration and care you took in reverting this edit and also would love to know how familiar you are with these topics. Again, I am not denying that this claim requires a citation, which is why I added one, but I am suggesting that you did not follow Wikipedia guidelines in reverting the edit. You should have tagged it as needing a citation or initiated a discussion in the talk page before automatically deleting it. Mennowiki (talk) 22:13, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The/Pixies

[edit]

Regarding the issue of whether the band is called Pixies or the Pixies, I wouldn't be so sure. It seems to be a moving target. Here are a few Frank Black quotes:

"I don't see it any particular way. It just feels like we're the Pixies." [1]

"When the Pixies did a version of it as a B-side I called it 'Velvety Instrumental Version'." [2]

"He's on a quest, whether it's with The Pixies or in her own projects or whatever band that she's playing with."[3]

There's also the album Death to the Pixies to think about. Popcornfud (talk) 10:38, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
