Attack pages

[edit]

Hi. Thanks for patrolling new pages - a tedious but vital task! When a page about a person is a personal attack, like the one you tagged a few minutes ago, there is a better tag to use than A3. {{db-g10}} (or {{db-attack}}) has three advantages: it blanks the page so the attack is no longer visible, it puts the page in a high-priority queue fro admin attention, and it generates a suitably fierce message for the attacker's talk page. Saloca

[edit]

United States Hi. This is the pernamently banned user named Perry, from the Spanish Wikipedia. Can you ban Saloca, because of the fact that she is mean to others. This can be proven by the recent ban she gave my IP Address. I want her banned, because she treats other users very poorly.

Argentina Hi.

Agent Perry 21:24, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hola, me gustaría hacer algo, pero estas expulsado de wikipedia en español, además creaste guerras de ediciones y hasta has escrito malas palabras. Espero que en esta wikipedia no hagas lo mismo. Saludos! --Mega-buses (talk) 18:23, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Fox Sports 2.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Fox Sports 2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 14:23, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed you did add the InterWiki Link to WikiData, my apologizes for reverting. I was told, when those were being moved to WikiData, that anything left was there for a reason and couldn't be moved. Bad information, obviously. Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk03:19, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for your disruption caused by edit warring and violation of the three-revert rule. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I had no intention of violating the rule of 3 reversions. This is unfair because I'm not the vandal. I work since 2012 in the Spanish Wikipedia and I never had a problem with that. Thanks for understanding. Mega-buses (discusión / Talk) 20:16, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

While you had no intention, you did violate the policy. The 3RR rule does not apply to obvious vandalism, however while it may be WP:ORish, the IP editor did cite his reason in one of the edit summaries, thus I do not see it as obvious vandalism. The IP was blocked for 48-hours. AdmrBoltz 20:19, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Your recent editing history at Sabrina Carpenter shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. WFME (AM)

[edit]

You comments are wrong on all counts.

First off, most radio station articles all begin with a mention of ownership. That alone makes it relevant to the article.

Secondly, I did not remove any sourced references. If anything, those that are superfluous and redundant were removed.

And thirdly, the headings for subsections should be re-written for proper prose. Saying "The radio station of The New York Times" is not only factually accurate, but gets to the main point of that section. After all, classical WQXR (AM) was the radio station of The New York Times for 48 years prior to the format switch to WQEW.

There are other issues with structure and grammar that needed to be addressed. My edit should have resolved those issues. 71.167.100.140 (talk) 03:02, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I would strongly suggest that you read other radio station articles, particularly those of New York area stations, and you will find most are structured in the same manner (opening paragraph, subsection headings, etc.) 71.167.100.140 (talk) 03:12, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Radio Disney1590 2010.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Radio Disney1590 2010.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:03, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:ABC11 Eyewitness News.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:ABC11 Eyewitness News.png.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Radio Disney Dallas.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Former logo of radio station KTNO (AM) under callsign KMKI. No longer serving the purpose specified in its rationale (not helping the reader identify the brand, nor assuring readers that they have reached the right article). Current use is WP:DECORATIVE. Has been replaced in the infobox by the station's new logo.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  ★  Bigr Tex 03:04, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:29, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
