A Thank You

Hey, Meatsgains, just wanted to thank you (personally) for adding that stuff for me. I'm actually this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Hunter85014 ..but I've long since forgotten my password and resetting it doesn't seem to help. I still read Wikipedia at least once a day, though, and you're the very first person whose page I've ever talked on, so I hope I'm doing it right. If I mess up anything, I apologize. Thank you again! 68.3.83.135 (talk) 20:11, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Not a problem! Glad I could help. And yes, your post on my talk page was formatted correctly. Good work :). Meatsgains (talk) 20:17, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Toledo

Well I sure made a mess at Toledo, Ohio. I think it's ok now. Take a look at the talk page before you conclude I'm an idiot. Kendall-K1 (talk) 11:51, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

No worries haha. I'll respond at Talk:Toledo, Ohio. Thanks for letting me know. Meatsgains (talk) 15:16, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

Cell disruption

Hello. It may interest you that someone called tenofalltrades seems determined to completely delete the "cell disruption" page, to which you previously contributed (you asked me for better refs). Over a 11 minute period in March they deleted ~22,500 words (virtually the entire page), and made no attempt to rebuild the page. Of course, the page was imperfect but I think it was still a useful compendium of information. Now it's pretty much gone.

I've tried to communicate with this person, and then reversed their changes, an effort that has now itself been reversed. I don't have the wiki experience (or the time) to deal with this anymore. So I'm writing to you and several other contributors in case others feel like preserving the page. Thanks a lot Liamloftus (talk) 14:56, 24 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello Liamloftus,
Almost the whole cell disruption page was copied and pasted from http://www.mixerequipment.com/f_mic/cell_disruption/cell_disruption.html. Copying material without the permission of the copyright holder from sources that are not public domain or compatibly licensed is likely to be a copyright violation, see WP:COPYVIO. Unfortunately, now the article is very short, but we can't have copied material on the page. Meatsgains (talk) 15:43, 24 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello reference your reverting of my edit...The second reference [1] says "Tim Barton and Jason Carlson founded Freightquote in August 1998." I have no idea who founded the company but that's what the source says? Theroadislong (talk) 18:20, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

@Theroadislong: I did not notice a second reference when I reverted your edit. My apologies. The second source does in fact note Jason Carlson as founding Freightquote so, I reverted my previous edit. Thanks for letting me know. Meatsgains (talk) 03:15, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

Varicose vein(s) RfC

I altered the layout of the RfC at Talk:Varicose_veins#RfC:_Propose_moving_title_to_singular_form for readability, and in the process needed to modify your comments. If you object in any way whatsoever, feel free to revert my changes. Cheers! --Tgeairn (talk) 23:49, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

@Tgeairn: I don't object to the new layout. Thanks for letting me know. Meatsgains (talk) 03:12, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

En dash question

Hi Meatsgains,

For my own education, can you inform me what was incorrect about my usage of the en dash? I was under the impression that two years should be separated by en dashes rather than hyphens, unless prefixed by words like "from", in which case punctuation should not be used at all. I sincerely appreciate any light you can shed. Thanks! 1980fast (talk) 00:50, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Admittedly, after doing a little reading on en-dashes and em-dashes, I discovered you're usage of the en-dashes were correct. My apologies. Feel free to edit Jordy Nelson's page back to include your edits. Meatsgains (talk) 03:54, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

@Meatsgains No worries. I don't claim for a second to know all there is to know on the subject, so I just wanted to find out if there were some nuance that I missed! Have a great one! :) 1980fast (talk) 19:51, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Tim Abell

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Tim Abell, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Untitled

Hi I'm nordicwarrior1 I understand that what I have placed under the smokeless brands is not product information of the specific company nonetheless it is medical product information of smokeless tobacco as a whole therefore it is relative. To many people do not know that information and I am only doing my best that people see it and understand the truth of these products that are on this website. I hope you understand and see my point of you. Hope all is well — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nordicwarrior1 (talkcontribs) 02:03, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

@Nordicwarrior1: I understand you want this information to be known and you pulled it from a website but readers can go to smokeless tobacco to read about that information. It does not belong on Grizzly (tobacco) and holds WP:UNDUE weight. And for future reference, when posting on someone's talk page, create a new section at the bottom of the page, not the top. Meatsgains (talk) 05:16, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

Carmine Miranda

Hie, I am writing to ask for your input in your opinion of this page Carmine Miranda. I am writing to you since you were one of the few who added contributions to it. At present moment it has been nominated for deletion. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carmine Miranda I am hoping that if you have time, that you could take a look at its current state and chime in your opinion on whether it should be kept or not. Thank you in advanceLilianarice (talk) 03:54, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

The first thing I noticed needing improvement on Carmine Miranda's page were the references. To improve the page's quality and verifiably, you should first provide multiple reliable sources for support. The current sources lack reliability, which IMO is more of an issue than your COI. Hope this helps. I will add my two cents on the article's deletion entry as well. Meatsgains (talk) 04:15, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

Thank You

Thank you for recommending the references into four columns on Khuda Buksh's article. In fact my original submission was in four columns. But I do not know, why someone converted to one column. Anyway, thank you for review.Morahim (talk) 15:25, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

No problem! With 163 references, it only makes sense to divide that list up into columns. I'm not sure why somebody would change it to one column...nevertheless, its back to four! Meatsgains (talk) 06:19, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Unnecessary text

Hi, regarding this edit which you reverted as Unnecessary text -- I do believe the annotations are quite important as they provide links to publishers' pages (which are now completely absent from the bibliography after the text deletion; e.g: "Titles published by Marvel include"). Thanks.

My edit removed redundant sentences in each section, which could easily be implied by readers. However, it makes sense to include wikilinks to each of the publishers' pages. I don't see another way to include these wikilinks rather than in the sentences you added. I will go ahead and restore your edit. I'll try and provide a better alternative soon. Meatsgains (talk) 06:37, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

I started a page move request; join in. --George Ho (talk) 18:27, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Scott Card racist?

(Note: Per wp:CANVASSING I am "non-biasedly" advertising a topic for discussion by posting a notice on the ten most recent users who commented on the page in question's talkpage and also the ten most recent users who edited the article in question.)

Commentators continue to reference/allege Card's piece involving a fictional, future Obama's coup d'état by way of urban guirillas as racist (eg see here in Slate, 2013; here, HuffPo, 2013; here, Wired, 2014). Should our article mention this aspect of controversy with regard to the piece here: "Orson Scott Card#Politics"?

(Also see a 2013 blogpost by M Aspan citing this from Card in 2000 rgding allegedly non-racist use of nigga'.)

See discussion here: Talk:Orson Scott Card#RfC: Subject of blp racist?

If I've marked a ANAC number as deprecated in Automatic number announcement circuit, I've indicated why... usually an N-1-1 which has been reassigned to something else (2-1-1 community info, 3-1-1 city hall, 5-1-1 road conditions), a three-digit code which is now a CO code and listed as such on NANPA.com or localcallingguide.com, a non-standard length number (such as 200 and some gibberish) where 1-NPA-200-XXXX is now a regular local number. I only got halfway through this list, but the data quite frankly is garbage. Out of date. Useless. No point telling some random New Yorker to call 511 to find out their own number; all they'll get is highway info ("yup, the Zamboni just passed by three minutes ago..."). As such, this edit is not constructive. Please don't do this. 2001:5C0:1000:A:0:0:0:2F7 (talk) 04:06, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

In the future, provide a brief explanation of your contribution in the edit summary box. In this case, had you explained your edit in your edit summary, I would not have reverted your edit. Meatsgains (talk) 18:20, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

I have restored a deletion you made citing absence of sources. The list of which the entry is part is not, for the main part, referenced, plainly because the linked wiki pages contain the references, often at very considerable length. If you feel that this list should contain all the referencing, it would be terrific if you could assist with this tremendous volume of duplicatice work. Alternatively, if you wish to delete them all, then perhaps editors could have a discussion about that. Dallas66 (talk) 22:11, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

I don't think we need to remove the extensive list, but rather take the time to add references to each individual. We can pull the references from the pages linked. I will not revert your edit but I would suggest starting by adding references to your contribution. Meatsgains (talk) 03:32, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for updating the Mike Vacanti page Jgreene1333 (talk) 14:23, 23 January 2015 (UTC) |}

@Jgreene1333: No problem! Meatsgains (talk) 18:59, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Please let me know when you're done so I can continue. --NeilN talk to me 19:03, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

@NeilN: After my first edit, I noticed you were editing at the same time. I am finished now so feel free to make any changes to the page. It was a mess. Meatsgains (talk) 01:19, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. I wound up stubbing the whole thing. --NeilN talk to me 04:03, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

Merge

I suggest merging Out Growth with Urban agglomeration article. Any comments?--Vin09 (talk) 06:05, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

@Vin09: I'd support a merge between Out Growth and Urban agglomeration for the main reason that "Out Growth" lacks notability by itself. If we are to merge, it is imperative we note that its definition was derived from India's 2011 census. What are your thoughts? Best, Meatsgains (talk) 15:22, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
Yes right.--Vin09 (talk) 16:36, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

Rollbacker

I have granted rollback rights to your account. After a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, contact me and I will remove it. Good luck and thanks. – Gilliam (talk) 03:13, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

@Gilliam: Thanks for the rollback privileges! I can assure you they will not be abused. Thanks again, Meatsgains (talk) 03:18, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Edit request for Sophie Hunter page

There is a one-sentence paragraph in Hunter's lead that could be easily merged with the first. There is no reason for it to be separate from the main one. Please be so kind to merge them, please. Thank you! 180.191.69.3 (talk) 02:17, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Done I went ahead and merged the sentence with the lead. I saw no reason not to. Meatsgains (talk) 02:28, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Vic Dibitetto

Thank you for your useful edits for Vic Dibitetto. Your editing helped a lot and had legit reasons for them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vicfan23 (talkcontribs) 04:00, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

No problem. The article still needs some work but that was a start. Meatsgains (talk) 04:03, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Well, Vic Dibitetto is still an upcoming comedian who just received his notability. Once Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is released, there might be more reliable sources, such as news articles, that could help increase the size of the page. Plus, he still has the Hulu sitcom to be released as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vicfan23 (talkcontribs) 04:10, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

The sources provided on the page are not reliable and need to be replaced. Meatsgains (talk) 03:25, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Agreed! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vicfan23 (talkcontribs) 20:13, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Copenhagen (Tobacco) revert note

Hey, just wanted to pass on that there's an old Reddit link here: http://www.reddit.com/r/DippingTobacco/comments/2d8mzd/cope_lc_smooth_hickory_discontinued_starting/ that notes about the Hickory having been discontinued from nationwide sale in 2014. There was also notations on the Copenhagen page around that time, though the wayback machine and internet archive have something of a heart attack when you try to access the logs of the page. From all I can tell, it looks like Copenhagen has done the same that Skoal did with some of their lower selling flavors, and rather than flat out stopping to produce them; have instead limited their distribution to a few certain locations, or internet purchase through Amazon and Costco. Whatever the case, given the limited distribution, it might be worth leaving it as having been discontinued on the Wiki page.Kitsunedawn (talk) 04:37, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

@Kitsunedawn: The source you provided, which links to an old reddit article, is far from reliable. Meatsgains (talk) 01:56, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
