Draftifications

Learnt from something I actually wasn't previously aware of twice...!
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

Please note that you should not generally draftify old articles - see Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)/Archive 172#Proposal to ban draftifying articles more than 90 days old without consensus * Pppery * it has begun... 14:14, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

Yes, and especially not articles that have been in mainspace for 20 years, without a peep of discussion prior to moving them. - Floydian τ ¢ 14:19, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
Thanks Floydian and Pppery - I wasn't previously aware of this. Noted. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 14:53, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
Consider switching to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft which warns you when you try to draftify articles more than 90 days old. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:26, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
And again

Hello, Mattdaviesfsic,

Your decision to start an AFD on this article, close it yourself as "Keep" and then move the article to Draft space is really inexplicable. As is your decision to draftify an article like List of dialling codes in Germany which has been around for over a decade. As other editors have stated (above) draftification is used for newly created articles, not articles have a long page history. I see that most of your draftications today have been reverted so please use better judgment. If an article isn't in good shape, consider working to improve it or if it has a specific problem, put an appropriate tag on the article rather than seeking more drastic steps. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:54, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

As above - this is something I wasn't previously aware of. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 04:36, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

East Coast Main Line

The previously problematic QQ is potentially causing issues at East Coast Main Line - unless of course you think it's me! TIA. 10mmsocket (talk) 21:16, 3 May 2023 (UTC)

No, the noticeboard archives demonstrate that demonstrably. Not seen that recently but will keep an eye out for that editor. Thx Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 22:28, 3 May 2023 (UTC)

Fancy a bit of planespotting?

If you're minded to, keep an eye on British Airways fleet. New editor struggling with WP:SPS and WP:UGC and the whole concept of original research. Don't want to go 3RR, but at the same time it would be great to help this guy out. 10mmsocket (talk) 18:35, 5 May 2023 (UTC)

Not my area of expertise but I'll try and keep an eye out - feel free to message me here if you need me to look if you would go over 3RR if you reverted them again. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 18:55, 5 May 2023 (UTC)

Ipswich station

Why the revision - the new depot is up and running? I am struggling to find online evidence of it though. Davidvaughanwells (talk) 10:48, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

That being the problem, yes. Verifiability not truth. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 13:10, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

CS1 error on Spurgeon's College

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Spurgeon's College, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 17:55, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

Proposition 103

I see you reviewed the article on Proposition 103. The article seems to present only one viewpoint on this legislation: that of the politicians and campaigners who wanted to introduce it. There is no mention of the difficulties it caused in getting insurance coverage as carriers withdrew from the CA marketplace. The article could look for comment in the general news media and in the insurance press at the time. I am sure they would find evidence of the increase in unlicensed business that came out of the state as a result. Being an "article content" rather than a Wikipedia procedures editor, I have no idea how this impacts your review. However, it seems worth raising that the article as it stands fails on NPOV. Update over Speedy Deletion for Eugene Pabst

I understand why you put the redirect Eugene Pabst for Speedy Deletion (and have seen the message you sent me). I am just notifying you to let you know that the speedy deletion was removed (not by me, by J947) because you cited R3 (implausible typos or implausible misnomers), but in my edit summary I gave the link for the Gramophone review (https://www.gramophone.co.uk/review/the-lost-piano-concerto-of-pavel-pabst) which for some reason calls him "Eugene Pabst" (maybe this is a confusion with the conductor Eugen Papst?). Thank you and have a good day! - RandomEditorAAA (talk) 22:34, 19 May 2023 (UTC)

Saw that, yes - thanks. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 06:48, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

Revision for Jonathon Howard page is submitted

Hi Mattdaviesfsic, Thanks for your comments! Could you please review the revised version and let me know? Thanks! Best regards, Maijia Maijia Liao (talk) 14:55, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

Just accepted it, but also you may wish to be aware of WP:COI. I'm aware you are probably one of the co-authors mentioned in the references. That's not necessarily a problem, just something for other editors to be aware of. Well done though! Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 15:23, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! Maijia Liao (talk) 22:46, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

Reverted edits on Geoff Marshall

How is it irrelevant and excesssive information when there is a when tag that you’ve just put back there. Also would his YouTube community post be an appropriate source for you? JamesVilla44 (talk) 16:13, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

But imagine having to change that every time he releases a new video...! The article is about him, not everything he is up to (because describing that is the very definition of intricately detailed).
And his YouTube post would not, per WP:YOUTUBE.
I would stick to describing/writing about him, not his content. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 16:17, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
Then keep the revision without the when tag (the now current revision) JamesVilla44 (talk) 16:21, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

Mass Message Sender

Hey Matt, regarding your (reverted) question to MB here, he had WP:MMS rights and so could send the newsletters. Since you don't have the right, you can follow the steps at Wikipedia:Mass message senders#Requesting a mailing to get something sent. Hope that helps! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 01:52, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

Yes, saw the thing about getting rights and all. I've asked Ingenuity to send it as he already has the right as an admin (I've tagged him in enough things in the last couple of days already!). Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 04:33, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

Neat template

See what I just did at Talk:Liverpool Baltic railway station and Talk:Liverpool St James railway station with {{Copied}}. Neat template and what looks like good practice. 10mmsocket (talk) 06:51, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

Think I've seen it before somewhere, yes,; just not something I have in my long-term memory yet for copying stuff! Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 06:55, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
It's definitely good practice; I used it when I fleshed out the Class 460 article last year (Talk:British Rail Class 460). XAM2175 (T) 10:24, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
We'll need to use it again very shortly when one of us (??) fleshes out TransPennine Trains with content from TransPennine Express. 10mmsocket (talk) 14:25, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

Bit of crystal-balling going on as it's not clear if TPE brand will be retained. Your thoughts would be appreciated. 10mmsocket (talk) 06:57, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Dennis Dart

An ugly discussion... sad to say it existed, and further that I didn't actually think WP:3O might be an option. Still plodding along though, and hoping nothing goes to these lengths.

Hello Matt, Acting as a proxy for someone in an edit war wont end well for you, You have made 0 edits to that article prior to your revert today. As stated to your friend - You need to seek consensus for its removal. I did as a compromise trim the gallery down but you decided to either proxy-revert or sock so now the onus is on you and him to get consensus for its removal .... or I can go to Wikipedia:3RRNO, Thanks –Davey2010Talk 17:28, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Per WP:IG and its policy-based "Generally, a gallery or cluster of images should not be added so long as there is space for images to be effectively presented adjacent to text", no we don't need to seek consensus for its removal. We have Commons to host images. Murgatroyd49 was entirely correct in removing it on the basis of this policy.
You could go to 3RR, but there's no point if you're the one acting against policy. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 17:44, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
Except they weren't correct and neither were you as per Wikipedia:BRD, That gallery has existed for 10+ years and it's not going to be removed without a consensus, I'm not the one edit warring nor am I the one proxy-reverting. I tried working with you both and you both threw it back in my face even after I made a compromise and trimmed it down. Anyway get consensus for its removal, Thanks. –Davey2010Talk 17:57, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
Compromise isn't necessary when policy dictates its removal in its entirety. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 18:01, 25 May 2023 (UTC)
Davy2010 is still harrassing me and accusing me of using you as a sockpuppet. He appears to be trying to bully me to have his way, I've just made a series of edits, including correcting grammar, adjusting tenses and rearring images and he has attacked me once again. Reading Green Park

Sorry I rolled you back on Mortimer by complete accident. I've fixed it now. I was just trying to view the history. Difficultly north (talk) The artist formerly known as Simply south 08:48, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
