Charles Fort

[edit]

Martin, your Al-Hikma contribution has been vandalised. I've cleaned it up and added some changes--but I'm new to Wiki. P.S. As 24.149.161.58 22:18, 12 September 2006 (UTC)one who spent time there (and spend my Summers on the Beara penninsula)I'm curious as to your own connection with Al-H.24.149.161.58 22:18, 12 September 2006 (UTC) Hi Martin, I moved Charles's Fort to Charles Fort (building) when adding some photographs; hope this is OK with you. I put a disambiguation link on the Charles Fort (author) page. "Charles Fort" is the correct name as a quick Google will demonstrate, for example:[reply]

http://www.heritageireland.ie/en/HistoricSites/South/CharlesFortCork/

To be honest James's Fort should probably go to James Fort also. -- Blorg 17:57, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:CastleparkBoreenAugust2005.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Stan 19:42, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Targum dialect of Hebrew

[edit]

Targum dialect of Hebrew (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I and another user have expressed concern for the accuracy of this article. I've had a look at the reference you have given (Communal Identities and Ethnic Groups: Jewish Communities), which mentions the Targum dialect of Hebrew in passing within a short essay. I believe that the source is mistaken. There are two varieties of Jewish Neo-Aramaic (not Hebrew) that are referred to as Targumic: the dialect of Sanandaj and the dialect of Zakho. Also, the word תרגום (targûm) means 'translation', and it refers to a translation of the Scriptures from Hebrew into another language, usually Aramaic. Considering all of this, I believe the source reference is wrong. I wanted to mention this to you just in case you have any additional information that might shed some light on the accuracy of the article. — Gareth Hughes 11:13, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Myrtle Jones, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of R. M. Smyllie

[edit]

A tag has been placed on R. M. Smyllie, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per speedy deletion criterion A7.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Tiptoety 15:56, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have performed a web search with the contents of Mufid Nashashibi, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.wrmea.com/backissues/0699/9906029.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. Notability of Henri Maillot

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Henri Maillot requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Basketball110 the pages I've messed up completely 21:37, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Thank you for starting the two new articles Idnibah and Subaytah. I have expanded Idnibah a little, will hopefully do more later. However, I have some problems with Subaytah, as my computer crashes each time I try to access the ref. you have given. And I cannot find the village under that name in Khalidi or Morris. Could you possibly give some more information? Thanks! Regards, Huldra (talk) 08:56, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please tell me which British mandate district Subaytah was in? Thanks, regards, Huldra (talk) 21:38, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Lorilei Guillory

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Lorilei Guillory, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Unreferenced and orphan BLP with no real notability.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Please do not make personal attacks. Wikipedia has a strict policy against personal attacks. Attack pages and images are not tolerated by Wikipedia and are speedily deleted. Proposed deletion of Arthur Kanodareka

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Arthur Kanodareka, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Seems to be a classic case of WP:BIO1E. An intelligence agent only known for one act, historically. Material may be copied neatly into appropriate articles.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello MartinCollin! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 178 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Autopatrolled

[edit]

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing!HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:47, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Alex Tudor-Hart has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable person

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 05:53, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Map of the Gjesvaerstappan islands.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:34, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Årset (Ålesund), and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Årset. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. VWBot (talk) 07:09, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 07:42, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Årset

[edit]

Concerning your contribution, Årset, a page move cannot be done by simply copying and pasting the contents of a page into a new location, as such a process does not transfer the page's edit history and therefore violates the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) license by denying attribution to editors who worked on Årset (Ålesund). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from Årset (Ålesund). As a violation of the page move process, Årset needs to be temporarily deleted under the speedy deletion criteria so that Årset (Ålesund) may be properly moved in a way that will preserve its edit history. Årset has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. If not, please refrain from editing either Årset (Ålesund) or Årset until the latter has been deleted according to Wikipedia's speedy criterion G6 (non-controversial housekeeping).

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 76.65.128.252 (talk) 07:42, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Elizabeth, Lady Thurles, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Earl of Ormonde (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

More maps of Eliogarty please.

[edit]

Martin, I've noticed that you've not been active for some months now. Just to fill you in, I created a category in Commons called Civil parishes of North Tipperary to contain your maps. I also deleted all the "merge" discussion banners as I think that agreemetn was reached that they were distinct. Lastly, can I request a few more civil parish maps for Eliogarty please. The south-east corner is almost complete now. My particlar requests would be for Moyne and Templemore. Thanks. Laurel Lodged (talk) 17:27, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Chiswell Langhorne

[edit]

Hello, I just read your brief synopsis of Chiswell Langhorne. I'm sure you know there is much more to his story. One thing in particular. I think his great uncle was the famous General Jeb Stuart.

"The War between the States in 1861 brought great tragedy to the Langhorne family, not the least of which was the death of their young cousin Flora Stuart. The Langhorne's cousin Confederate General Jeb Stuart was a refugee at "Edgemont" when his beloved daughter died."

I wanted to thank you for your work regarding Chiswell Langhorne. He was an ancestor. I just added an infobox with a photo. It should be ok as it was taken prior to the copyright cutoff for public domain use.

Thanks again. Jtlanghorne (talk) 17:16, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
