Speedy deletion nomination of User:Markharris2000
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:Markharris2000, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DES (talk) 19:32, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... I have now edited my profile to just detail the facts, no positioning or other posturing. It just states who I am, the industry I participate in, and the companies I have worked for. Very factual, no longer any interpretation --Markharris2000 (talk) 20:23, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- As guidance , the Wikipedia user page is for information about you as it relates to you being an editor of Wikipedia; with these types of things being generally appropriate and these types of things being generally inappropriate. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 20:55, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- I've deleted the page. TRPoD is right. If all you're here for is to promote you or your company, this isn't really the place for you. --NeilN talk to me 22:26, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Markharris2000. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Draft:Pluribus_Networks, you may have a conflict of interest. People with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, see the conflict of interest guideline and frequently asked questions for organizations. In particular, please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, its competitors, or projects and products you or they are involved with;
- instead, propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the
{{request edit}}
template); - avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing, and autobiographies. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 20:27, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Some notes
[edit]Hi Mark. Can you let us know what company you're paying to write articles for you? The reason why I ask is that there have been a number of paid-writing scams lately that have victimized companies. For example, whatever company you've hired cannot guarantee that
- your article will be accepted
- the article will not be deleted
- it will contain the material you want
- it will not contain any negative material
All article content is managed by volunteer editors - there's no staff. There are volunteer administrators (I'm one) but we just make sure the rules that the Wikipedia community has come up with are followed. --NeilN talk to me 19:35, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
I HAD BEEN USING WIKIEXPERTS.COM for the Pluribus Networks edits.

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion
[edit]There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. MP1440 (talk) 16:00, 14 May 2020 (UTC) Markharris2000 (talk) The information which is displayed when looking for "Uptime Institute" is no longer accurate since all of the updated facts about who and what Uptime Institute is have been removed in the vetting process. Uptime Institute has no affiliation with 451Research as of Dec 6, 2019. but not sure how this can be corrected on the wiki site.
Disclosure of employment
[edit]Hello Markharris2000. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Markharris2000. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Markharris2000|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:38, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
- NOTE: I am employed by UPTIME INSTITUTE the subject of this artical (2017 THRU PRESENT) Markharris2000 (talk) 19:26, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hello: this means that you are strongly discouraged from editing the article per WP:COI. It also means that you are what we call a "paid editor", as you are editing as part of your employment. You will need to post a disclosure on your talk page. See the two links in this message for details.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 23:04, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
