Aslo you can fix a bug on the map according with data which i gave you. But editor ZomBear without good reason revert your editing although all of your changes on the map were made on the basis of the official Ukrainian media and data taken from of the National Anti-Corruption Agency. - Yes. I quite clearly indicated that I thought they were being a pain in the butt, but I had no patience or time to fix their incorrectness here: c:Special:PermanentLink/131826872#Latest updates 2014-08-16. - I also would like to have update this map but I also edit the articles about the civil war in Syria and Iraq, and many other articles and I edit the map for article about the Syrian Civil War and map about clashes in Iraq Kurds and Iraqi government against Jihadists Islamic State. And this takes many time and so I ask you to help me edit this card!

- @Hanibal911: We need more eyes on the Iraq/Syria maps, so it is good you are editing them. The conflict has much less drama in the media, particularly in Syria, so it is very difficult to follow the events on the ground. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 16:45, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
Create another account?
I am using the alternative account right now. Currently, I have a mobile phone with a touch screen and a browser, enabling me to edit Wikipedia. However, I wonder if I should create "gh87 in a mobile phone". Is that allowed? --Gh87 in the public computer (talk) 21:20, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Gh87 in the public computer, George Ho: it seems to be a little overkill, in my opinion (I personally use only User:Magog the Ogre 2 as my secondary account), but if you want, you can. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 16:35, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Could you...
.... for the love of God, permanently protect this article. It is, as can be seen, highly susceptible to edits and vandalism and leaving it open is not viable. Neither do I have the time and resources to constantly keep a check on it. Please :) Mar4d (talk) 15:35, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- @Mar4d: please show me where it has been vandalized frequently. I see a lot of positive contributions from the IPs. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 18:26, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- The table is the same as it was months ago, many IPs mess around with the details. Some add their own names onto the list, others change or modify with existing details, make unsourced BLP violations, not to mention introducing formatting errors. And then some good IPs come in to revert all the mess caused by the bad IPs and restore the article to its original contents. It's better to protect the article from IPs. What to do with such unique users
I don't know. This person keeps proposing disambiguators with a person's name just because any title seems ambiguous to him, like The Birds and Other Stories and Zhi Hu Zhe Ye. I don't know how to bear with this user and his comments anymore. --George Ho (talk) 01:41, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
Could you check what happened here? You didn't use OgreBot to update file name in Kelvin water dropper, so I did this manually. Was there a mistake from your side? --Stefan2 (talk) 16:55, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Any opinion on what to do here? One of the revisions is clearly on Commons under the same name, but the file has since been updated on Wikipedia since it was uploaded to Commons. What to do here? A thumbnail is on Commons under the same name, but under a less restrictive licence. Both files were uploaded by the same user, so all licences are valid. Overwrite the thumbnail, or upload under a different file name? --Stefan2 (talk) 18:29, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
Hello Magog the Ogre. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Files moved to Commons
I had tagged several files for deletion through WP:F8. I understand they were SVG, thereby a different format but SVG as stated in Wiki guidelines: This image was uploaded in a raster graphics format such as PNG, GIF, or JPEG. However, it contains information that could be stored more efficiently and/or accurately in the SVG format, as a vector graphic. If possible, please upload an SVG version of this image. After confirming it is of comparable quality, please replace all instances of the previous version throughout Wikipedia (noted under the "File links" header), tag the old version with {{Vector version available|NewImage.svg}}, and remove this tag. For more information, see Wikipedia:Preparing images for upload. For assistance with converting to SVG, please see the Graphics Lab. So an SVG version was uploaded in better quality for most of these images so the older version should be deleted correct? EoRdE6 (talk) 20:24, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
- @EoRdE6: not quite. Notice it says you should mark the file as vector version available, not mark it as speedy deletion. We do not automatically delete the old file for a few reasons, including copyright attribution, access to old versions of the file, disagreement over image quality, better compression, better transparency, etc. If you still think we should not keep it, you should nominate it for deletion at WP:FFD. See c:Commons talk:Superseded images policy for more details. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 23:10, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Hello
Now my block time has expired, i want to ask you if can i upload these images:
This is for pop'n music 8
- Seiya murai:
== {{int:filedesc}} == {{Information |Description=<descripción aquí> |Source=<fuente aquí> |Date=<fecha aquí> |Author=<autor aquí> |Permission= |other_versions= }} == {{int:license}} == {{PD-Signature|Japan}}
- Por supuesto, cambarías <descripción aquí>, <fecha aquí>, etc. a los datos correctos.
- Yo también lo siento si mi uso del español es malo. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 01:32, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
What do we do with this file? The file with the same name on Commons has a different SHA1 value, so the file is different in one way or another, although I can't tell how. Do you think that it still satisfies F8? --Stefan2 (talk) 17:30, 11 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Stefan2: yes, I do. The only differences are minor code changes in the SVG code. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 22:58, 11 December 2014 (UTC)
Can you try splitting the file by moving away the PD file in the history? In a week, someone will likely be around deleting the old unfree revision, and the old free revision should not be deleted at that point. --Stefan2 (talk) 14:23, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

OgreBot and redirects
Some files, such as File:American Coot waterside.jpg, have redirects. Shouldn't OgreBot update the links on the pages which use the redirect too? Local enwiki redirects will not work once the file is on Commons... --Stefan2 (talk) 23:27, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

- Good! I have added some more files to Category:Wikipedia files reviewed on Wikimedia Commons by Stefan2, then. I wasn't sure if it was safe to add them there before this was fixed. I have been looking for redirects shadowing Commons lately (i.e. redirects preventing an image on Commons from displaying) – all files in Category:Wikipedia files reviewed on Wikimedia Commons by Stefan2 have that problem. --Stefan2 (talk) 02:30, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Do you think that File:Chilla Gaah Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar, Dhaunkal.jpg is the same photograph as the file with the same name on Commons? Something looks fishy. The Wikipedia one is earlier and watermarked, the one on Commons is later and without watermark. --Stefan2 (talk) 18:31, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Usman.Al.Nasiri: - can you explain this? Are you using an alternate account on Commons which you didn't declare? Magog the Ogre (t • c) 03:44, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Is this an outdated version of the one with the same name on Commons? Can you manage to get OgreBot to upload all old versions to Commons? The page oldver.php thinks that all revisions are identical, although they quite obviously are not as the size differs. --Stefan2 (talk) 23:32, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Stefan2: No. It looks like the revisions were lost in the great Mediawiki server crash of c. 2009.[citation needed] The bot only reports what Mediawiki tells it the hashes are; in this case, Mediawiki doesn't have the hash cached, and can't find the file, so it's not reporting the hash. {{Esoteric file}}
Is this a {{keep local}} tag, i.e. are files with this tag exempt from F8? The way the template is worded, it seems that the uploader isn't requesting to keep a local copy, but only that the uploader recommends other people not to move the file to Commons as Commons unlikely is going to find it useful. I note that some files, such as File:Bishzilla blink.gif, nevertheless have been uploaded to Commons. --Stefan2 (talk) 00:47, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Stefan2: I nominated it for deletion. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 00:24, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
The file with the same name on Commons cites English Wikipedia as the source, but the file on Commons has a lot higher resolution. Is the file only upscaled a lot, or is there something else I can't see? --Stefan2 (talk) 22:31, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
- Also, what is your opinion about File:EAPC.PNG with regard to F8? The file on Commons seems to be the the same file as the first revision on Wikipedia but with corrections. The second revision on Wikipedia contains a couple of corrections, but not always the same as on Commons. Currently both maps are wrong: the one on Commons lacks the border between Serbia and Montenegro, and the one on Wikipedia uses the wrong colour for Alandia. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:40, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Stefan2: I don't have any idea what happened with the first one. I ran across that situation once and asked on the village pump, and they seemed stumped. You might try COM:VPC or WP:VPT. As for the second image, it's not in use. I'd say either merge the changes or nominate it for deletion at FFD. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 05:01, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

The spinning Bishzilla
Hi Magog. Thanks for removing the speedy template from File:Bishzilla spin.gif. I thought I had made it safe by marking it {{esoteric file}}, but apparently not. I've nominated it for deletion on Commons now, on the assumption that that might be the way to stop other peope from again nomming it for deletion on en-wiki just because it's "nowcommons" (and always likely, surely, to be deleted from Commons as useless). Do you think that makes sense, as a way to keep it on en-wiki? If you do, or if you don't, I'd appreciate if you'd take a look at my Commons deletion nomination, to see if anything needs clarifying there. I'm not really at home on Commons. Btw I see you have nominated {{esoteric file}} for deletion. I may weigh in there; not sure; if you think {{Do not move to Commons|reason here}} will serve the same purpose, I expect you're right. Bishonen | talk 00:36, 5 January 2015 (UTC).
- @Bishonen: if an image is being used on a userpage, it is considered in scope on Commons, so I'm not really seeing that as a problem. IMO you are just as likely to see a deletion on English Wikipedia. But personally I do think having four different templates for {{Keep Local}} is excessive and needlessly redundant, and could be accomplished with one or at most two templates. File:Цвиркун.JPG
Hi, some years ago you deleted a file here, because it was transferred to commons. If the log is correct the file here or there had at some point in time a size of 5.13 MB. What now exists are only 56 KB. In an undeletion request I apparently failed to explain the problem, maybe you can shed some light on what exactly went wrong and how to fix it. –Be..anyone (talk) 16:29, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
File:GSF1200SK6.jpg
It does exist on Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:GSF1200SK6.jpg) so it doesn't make sense to have https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:GSF1200SK6.JPG say that it still needs to be copied over. WhiteBook (talk) 04:33, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- @WhiteBook: if it exists under a different name (which it does), you'll need to specify that in the template. In this case,
{{subst:ncd|GSF1200SK6.jpg}}
. Otherwise I, or other admins, have no way of knowing where it exists on Commons. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 05:44, 9 January 2015 (UTC)- You're saying that you can't find the file on Commons because the file extensions .jpg and .JPG are different. Is that right? WhiteBook (talk) 16:37, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- @WhiteBook: if it's under the same name, then it is immediately obvious. If it's under a different name but is a bit-for-bit equivalent, Wikimedia will display the Commons equivalent, and we can see it. But you retouched the photo and the capitalization was different, so it did not appear. To be candid: we deal with hundreds of these images per day, so few of us will have the patience to perform a deep search for the image when it was a simple matter to mark it correctly in the first place. The person who took the photograph used with the article did give me permission by email -- several years ago. The email has long since been deleted. I had no reason to save it. I don't think there's any reason to delete a photograph on that basis. --Bookworm857158367 (talk) 16:58, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Bookworm857158367: I'm sorry to hear that. We've been requiring that permission for several years now for a number of reasons (e.g., users often don't actually verify the licensing but only ask to "publish it on Wikipedia"). If I recall correctly, the upload wizard may even have provided that information when you uploaded in 2010. Do you at least remember who sent it to you? Because right now you have it uploaded with a license which requires attribution to the author, but you haven't even named that person, so it's impossible to follow. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 17:01, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- I don't recall any longer. I know I found the picture on a blog that someone had written about Princess Elizabeth. The photo is likely still available online somewhere. I tracked down the email for the person who wrote the blog and got her permission to use the photo she had taken. I don't have time to track it down and contact her again. --Bookworm857158367 (talk) 19:45, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

problems with two uploaded photos
I've uploaded this pictures from Flickr : [3] and [4], i verified the license are valid for upload it and i was notified with this:
This recently uploaded image was originally posted to Flickr by MiquelGP54 at http://flickr.com/photos/69467450@N05/11298417976. It has been reviewed on 2015-01-12 01:50:30 by FlickreviewR, who found it to be licensed under the terms of the cc-by-nc-nd-2.0, which isn't compatible with the Commons. It is unknown whether the license above was ever valid.
Both Pics ([5] [6]) have the same warning. What i've done wrong?--VíctorPines • 05:19, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
- @VictorPines: nc and nd images are not compatible with Wikimedia projects. The only cc licenses we'll take are cc-by-sa (common), cc-by (common), and cc-zero (rarer). It's very easy to make that mistake but now you'll know to look out for it. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 22:29, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Commerzbank map
Hello! Your maps of American banks are wonderful! I've read in your Maps FAQs you could make one of a non-American bank. I have some sources of German banks' branch locations. Couldn't you make an attempt to make the maps of these banks' branches?
Best regards, Egor Shustoff (talk) 14:09, 20 December 2014 (UTC).

Weird bug
I've been cleaning out (by moving to Commons) and deleting some free image categories here at en Wikipedia but ran across something weird. Take a look at Category:Images of Port Adelaide. I'm showing that File:Tursiops aduncus.JPG is a member of that category, but so far as I can tell that image doesn't even have a local description page. Any thoughts? Kelly hi! 18:15, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
- Ran into another instance - File:Henman v Tursunov court twilight Australian Open 2006.JPG shows up in Category:Images of buildings and structures in Melbourne. Kelly hi! 18:32, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Kelly: it's because the file got deleted and redirected on Commons, but the local description still existed under the old name. Categories are bugged when handling file redirects with other content on them. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 03:57, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Thank you, your ogre-ness! Kelly hi! 18:32, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Does this work for you? I've been getting TUSC error messages for some time. Commons needs the full-resolution image and an original upload log. --Stefan2 (talk) 20:27, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, I've had TUSC problems as well. Kelly hi! 21:29, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Some user said that casino is for losers. What should you do about that remark? --George Ho (talk) 23:08, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
- @George Ho, Richhoncho: I could be wrong, but I think he's saying that a disambiguation page might be better at the main title than always having an article at the main title and the disambiguation page at a subtitle like MyPage (disambiguation). Pinging Richhoncho so he can clarify (please be patient with us, Rich). Magog the Ogre (t • c) 23:59, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

- @George Ho: He is implying that you are too eager to treat things like having winners and losers. It doesn't appear to be a personal attack at all, and I advise you don't take it to ANI. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 00:04, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

RGloucester
I'm having a hard time understanding this user. He's done substantial, constructive contributions. However, he also has done harm. I've contacted him about his behaviours and actions, but he's still persistent as if Wikipedia is heading toward corruption. Recently, he withdrew one ITN nomination at WP:ITN/C before someone else cleaned up the mess by shortly re-nominating the event. I told him that he'd be reported to ANI if he continues to do something like that again or worse. --George Ho (talk) 16:36, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
Orli Shoshan picture deleted on Orli Shoshan article
Hi Magog the Ogre, I'm helping Orli Shoshan actress to update her Wikipedia article. February 11th you have deleted " OrliShoshan.jpg " which I uploaded, for violation copyright reasons. The picture is the propriety of Lynne Peters, the Orli Shoshan's photographer. Her website is : http://www.lynnepeters.com/ She said about this file deletion : " They have my copyright permission. "
To proove it, you can see the screenshot here of my personnal Facebook conversation with Orli Shoshan. You can also contact Lynne Peters photographer to check the copyright permission directly with her, here
So I would like to ask you to restore this file access in order to display again this picture on Orli Shoshan page. Thank you so much for your help !

You reverted my Now Commons tag on the above due to changed file extension from .jpg to .PNG "nowcommons declined; wrong file extension". I was not aware that this was illegal for this operation. Hello Magog. You've blocked this editor on Commons in 2014, a fact I discovered by following a link in the AE report. Most recently, you lifted his block, which suggests you may have found reasons for optimism. It is probable that similar issues are raised by his editing at Commons and on enwiki, since he has the same editing interests in both places. The AE complaint about SD has been filed by User:Cptnono. The thread is lacking any forward momentum at the moment, and probably needs more commentary by admins, or from editors who have no affiliation with either side. Whether you support or oppose any sanction, if you have knowledge of SD's edit history perhaps you could add a comment in the AE. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 22:04, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

This looks like a blatant very serious personal attack (re Zero). I'm guessing I'm missing something? Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 04:56, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
I honestly couldn't believe that you made the comment when I saw it and given the egregiousness of the comment I'm going to block you for 24 hours to prevent this occurring again. I have also revision deleted the comment in question. The only reason the block isn't longer is because you have been around for a while and haven't been blocked for something like this before (that you're an admin didn't come into it). You can appeal in the normal way with {{unblock}}. Reviewing admins - feel free to unblock if Magog either explains that it wasn't intended that way and/or there is an assurance that it won't happen again, and that you're comfortable with the reasoning. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 05:43, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- I've also asked for a block review at ANI - WP:ANI#Block review. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 05:48, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- Future prefect explained it at ANI, I've never heard or seen it used in that context before. My apologies! Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 06:10, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- Oh dear. Glad that got cleared up. "Have you stopped beating your wife" is a pretty standard English phrase - see Loaded question. This is a nice site also. Dougweller (talk) 12:01, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- This is very serious business. In truth, I don't mind at all, as this would have been an appropriate block had the statement been literal. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 00:25, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
Commons block requested
Would you mind handling my request at COM:AN/U? I requested sanctions for User:Look2See1, who's continued with a string of disruptive editing despite years of warnings and a recent Village Pump thread that demonstrated the community's weariness of him, and most of what he responded was simply personal attacks. Another request, completely unrelated to the previous one
Thanks for responding to the previous request; this time, I'm just asking normal-user assistance, not admin assistance. I see that you're in Pennsylvania; would you be willing to consider uploading photos of communities near you? Approximately one-third of all Pennsylvania municipalities are unillustrated, and anything you could contribute would be appreciated, especially if you're in an area with lots of unillustrated municipalities or a comparatively remote area. I've created User:Nyttend/Pennsylvania to track all unillustrated municipalities; you can use it as a quick checklist if you're interested in helping. Nyttend (talk) 04:23, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

OccultZone is at it again.
@HJ Mitchell and DoRD:
I left this message on OZ's talk page about not getting into an edit war at John Coleman (news weathercaster). He has filed yet another SPI case in which he accuses the IP at Coleman's article of being Resaltador and Sonic2030. OZ has already:
- Accused Resaltador of being a sock in StillStanding' SPI case. He also accused the person of being TCKTKtool. TCKTKtool was later blocked for harassment. Case was closed and not commented on by SPI clerks.
- Accused Resaltador of being a sock in Bargolus' SPI case. Case closed with no action taken
- Accused Resaltadot of being a sock in Zhanzhao's SPI case. Case closed with no action taken.
In the current SPI case, He is accusing the IP of being Resaltador and Sonic2030 because Sonic used the same IP range in 2012. No further SPI case has been filed against Sonic2030 since January 2013. The IP belongs to the Department of Homeland Security.
He also doing his customary admin shopping, this time at JamesBWatson's page.
This has been his M.O. the past couple of months. He gets reverted, they must be a sock. The SPI clerks (why I pinged DoRD) are sick of him and have told him to stop harassing them.
Also, he has asked for talk page access revoked at Future Perfect at Sunrise's talk page. Another admin shopping trip.
He's learned nothing from the latest block and people telling him to stop this. Bgwhite (talk) 07:19, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
Articles that were deleted by this blocked editor
I was reviewing new articles a while back and was glad to see the valuable content that this editor OccultZonehad produced and which now has disappeared. I would like to resubmit these now deleted articles that I patrolled because they bring value and content to the encyclopedia. Is it possible for me to do that? I also propose that I 'beef' them up a bit with more references, wikify, de-orphan and apply categories before I would submit them as new articles. If this is possible and valuable, would a responsible administrator simply add them to my user space/page as drafts? Is this allowed? Or do we sacrifice the content for the sake of disciplinary action. (I don't know this editor, we've never communicated, I am totally unfamiliar with the reasons for the blocking.) Ping me please when you respond. Best Regards,
