Manitoba is bilingual
[edit]Hey Magnolia677, I'm a new editor, and I'm still learning the ropes, so I didn't want to revert your edit to the Manitoba page without checking in with you. I believe you removed the French pronunciation for Manitoba under the belief that Manitoba isn't bilingual, but believe it or not we are! We have the largest francophone population in Canada outside of Quebec, and French is one of our two official languages. Believe me, there's been some controversy over the years. :) Cheers! nerdgoonrant (talk) 23:11, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply and the friendly welcome! I must confess, as a lifelong resident of Manitoba (and someone who just spent two years working for the provincial government) I was quite surprised to discover that we are not officially bilingual. The source you added sums up the legal staus of our language status quite succinctly, and the section lover in the Manitoba article on Official Languages does a good job of untangling the unofficial official status that French enjoys here, including a reference to the French Language Services Policy of 1999. While nobody who lives in Manitoba would be surprised to see the French pronunciation of the province name alongside the English one (we get all official - and lots of unofficial - documentation in both languages) I would no longer argue strongly in favour of its inclusion. Sorry for blathering. Thanks again! nerdgoonrant (talk) 03:35, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
- Great. Feel free to message if you have any questions (but start them at the bottom of the page). Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 03:39, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

I do not know what you mean when you say I am not providing sources. If you are referring to when I changed the Galveston Weatherbox, I did not add a source because more information could be added from the existing source. Howpper (talk) 02:58, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Peter Davison (composer) Reply: I am sorry, I have only created the page for Peter Davison (composer) and I have no other experience with Talk, sources, etc. If I am replying incorrectly, I apologize. Davison does not fail the AnyBio, he has received awards and nominations, which are listed in the bio section. I did not realize that they needed verification, the Davison page has been on Wikipedia for years without any problems. I will attempt to learn how to add sources and will include sources for awards etc. Davison does not fail WPComposer, please see his IMDb page, it lists hundreds of TV/Film scores that he composed http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1684691/. Please see his Bandcamp page, it lists his CDs - https://peterdavisonmusic.bandcamp.com. Davison has been a professional composer for about 40 years. So, while it may look like advertising, it is also a verifiable list of his compositions. I will also be adding an article about him from the newspaper, The Idyllwild Town Crier (8/19/15) and other info. Thank you, please re-consider your opinion of Davison, composer.

Allen Ritter
[edit]I am disgusted on how you nominate Allen Ritter for deletion, again. How can you say that he is isn't notable? Kodak Black should've been deleted, even through I endorsed it, because Allen has way more credits than Kodak, with the latter only having one charted song (featured artist) and mixtape, which haven't been in the Billboard Hot 100 yet. Plus, Allen has been in the music industry longer than Kodak, Kodak is only beginning to get recognition, Allen was way more recognition than him, he worked with tons of artists, versus Kodak, yet you think that Kodak's article should be kept instead.
Also, even if he is Grammy nominated with 18 other people, you thinking its "hardly" a nomination, its still a nomination, you are incorrectly marking him that he fails WP:MUSICBIO, which you know it isn't true. You can't just blow it off like its nothing, plus he was one of the few people that ever got nominated once, versus some of the other artists in the nomination, which have been nominated before. Just to add to it, you really don't need a lot of sources for the production discography, since you can simply google it to find out, or go the album page that has his credit, obviously it will be there too.
You didn't "save" the article, you didn't even add new sources, makes no sense of saying that you tried to "save" the article, you only removed sources. Even with the info you removed, his article still has more info than Kodak's article, the Kodak article really fails WP:BIO, since Kodak is barely notable in the music industry, with regards to credit, only fame, but Allen is much more notable in the music industry, with regards to credit, plus his article has less info, Allen's article has way more info, and Allen has songs that he was involved with that were RIAA certified, you can google it for proof. I hope you WP:WDAFD Allen's article, because marking his article for deletion is irregular. Xboxmanwar (talk) 01:59, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
- Your talk page history is littered with warnings about disruptive editing (which you have deleted), and you were blocked last week. If you have a beef, add it to the AfD discussion. Leave your teenage rants off my talk page. Magnolia677 (talk) 02:09, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, Magnolia. If there has been no major changes since the other article was deleted on April 30, you can and should forgo AfD and nominate it for speedy G4. Recreating an article deleted by community consensus is pure disruption unless there has been significant change in the meantime. John from Idegon (talk) 23:05, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, the speedy G4 tag would be contested within minutes. He's now started to vandalize my talk page. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:08, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
- I have not vandalized your talk page, I was requesting you to undo your AfD, with my reasons. Xboxmanwar (talk) 23:10, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

I reverted your revert of the IP's unexplained change because the IP was actually doing a good deed. The IP's edit was correct according to the reference to the same date in the paragraph above the edit, and in this case was simply a typo correction. I understand the urge to automatically revert edits like that though. --| Uncle Milty | talk | 18:45, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

Peterborough Page
[edit]Thanks for your notes on my edits to the Peterborough Ontario page, and for replacing the edits which I made after reverting them. I have just re-uploaded the image of city hall which you reverted. I feel this image captures the building in a way which more properly represents the building than the previous image, which is 11 years old and doesn't show much of the building. I have hopefully addressed your concerns about it being oversized by making it 400px wide instead of 500px. You said the image was blurry in your notes on the reversion. If you click it to see a larger version it can take a few seconds to show clearly because the master file is large. It will look blurry until it fully loads. However, after it loads you'll see that it isn't blurry. I understand now that the original spelling of counsilor was correct, and I appreciate you amending this. MichaelMorritt (talk) 22:23, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Michael, generally the size of an image should be 220 px (see WP:IMAGESIZE). This lets images load well on most competers and mobile devices, and will not squeeze out text. It also leaves enough room for others to add more images. Sometimes images look better when larger, such as panoramas, and there is a special template for adding wide images. Thank you for the great photo you added, but I will likely reduce the size. If you feel it should be a larger size, please discuss on the article's talk page. All the best. Magnolia677 (talk) 13:57, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, Magnolia677. I noticed this and took a look. Photos as you know are to be used to expand the understanding of the text. There is only a tiny bit about the city hall, and what is there should be removed per NOTDIR. This photo is not appropriate for this article in any size. The article in general seems amply illustrated and probably doesn't need any more graphics. John from Idegon (talk) 15:47, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
CIQB information
[edit]Hi there! Just got your notification on my talk page. Supposedly, I have entered unsourced material on the CIQB-FM page. That is untrue, as I have entered sources from CIQB's new website, as well as radio industry websites RadioInsight and Airchecker.ca. What am I not getting exactly? I did source it correctly, as is required when entering new information. (Also, I just realized this, it turns out that CIQB has been branded as "B101" from 1994 to 2016, but I misread where it said that it rebranded as Energy Radio in 2000 (which is not true, as it retained the B101 moniker during its shift to AC and then back to Hot AC). Not trying to start any confusion or conflicts here. Just need some guidance. I would love to avoid this whole blocking issue altogether as much as possible, and have an open ear (and eyes, in this case) on how to properly edit. Thanks.
- I left a message on your talk page. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 04:09, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
Kentucky Sports and Town Pages
[edit]In looking at your reverts regarding CIQB, CHAY and other Canadian radio stations, I noticed a slew of reverts regarding Kentucky sports. I noticed all were sourced, I checked that source and what was added to the page matches the source. I noticed also that you reverted "Per WP:USCITIES". I checked and I see nothing regarding high school sports championships not being allowed in articles regarding towns in WP:USCITIES.
The information could use a little sprucing up, maybe a full sentence or two about it, but these are clearly notable and sourced information. This is the second time this evening I have noticed you removing sourced content as "unsourced". That is troubling to say the least. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 04:05 on July 30, 2016 (UTC)

- Regarding the numerous Kentucky edits, this was an effort to remove a number of spam edits made by User:Drrharpe33. Two other editors, User:John from Idegon and administrator User:Graham87 also helped remove the spam, and administrator User:Fuzheado blocked the editor for "repeated nonuseful edits". Regarding the removal of "Thomas Calhoun Walker" from Gloucester County, Virginia, Mr. Walker is not notable, but was listed in the "notable people" section of that article, along with a link to his former house, the T.C. Walker House, which is notable. Perhaps I should have left a more detailed edit summary than " the house is notable" when I removed Mr. Walker from the notable people list of Gloucester County, Virginia. The article about Walker's house, which is located in Gloucester Courthouse, Virginia, is located on that article, where it should be. Please feel free to question other edits you find in my contribution history, though I must be honest, I'd prefer to spend my limited time here editing. All the best. Magnolia677 (talk) 11:22, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
I'm gonna ping Fuzheado on this one. You all removed sourced content, which came directly from the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, the main organization in that state for managing high school athletics...and then you blocked the user for "nonuseful edits"?! I can't even begin to find the words to describe this one.
Not only did the four of you revert sourced content, but you misused TWINKLE, Fuzheado blocked a user for doing nothing wrong thereby misusing his admin powers. I have to ask, Gloucester County edit aside for the moment, why should I not drag the four of you to ANI for misuse of tools and abuse of power?
Onto Gloucester County, Mr. Walker lived in the Thomas Calhoun Walker House, so, technically, he is notable as the house is named after him. You don't really get a house named after you unless you yourself are notable in some historical sense. So, yes, he would be included. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 23:01 on July 30, 2016 (UTC)
Having a house (or a lake or a mountain) named after you doesn't necessarily make you notable. For example, the Francis J. Woolley House is named for lawyer Francis J. Woolley, who appears from a very cursory Bing search not notable enough to be included on the list of people from Oak Park, Illinois (where he isn't). As for the T.C. Walker House, it is actually named for T.C. Walker, Sr. (Thomas Calhoun Walker was his son).
Regarding inclusion criteria for a U.S. county notable people list, Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. counties gives no direction. However, the Walker House is actually located in a census-designated place, so let's refer to Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline which is quite specific, stating that:
- to be included in a list of notable people, individuals must still meet the notability requirements per WP:PEOPLE, and
- having a wiki article "is not the sole rationale for inclusion, since some people who might meet notable standards may not have an article, but it is a quick reference. If challenged, additions without their own article should be removed and discussed on the talk page of the city, until a consensus is reached."
Back to T.C. Walker. He was born into slavery, but eventually became the first black attorney in Gloucester County. He founded a company that supported land acquisition by blacks, and was instrumental in launching schools for blacks in Gloucester County. He was also twice elected to the Board of Supervisors. Does he meet Wikipedia's notability criteria? I dunno. I've created articles on a few other black civil rights leaders, such as Maxine Smith, Charles C. Diggs, Sr., and George Washington Lee, and I don't think there's enough notability for an article on Walker, or for inclusion on a notable people list (though he was certainly an outstanding and accomplished person). You may wish try writing an article on Walker, or seek input and consensus from other editors at the Gloucester Courthouse, Virginia talk page regarding the addition of Walker to that article's notable people list. I hope this was helpful. Magnolia677 (talk) 00:30, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- Sounds pretty notable to me. Since you have created articles regarding black civil rights leaders, I would support you in creating one for TC Walker. I think it would be quite notable. In just a quick google search, I found many articles regarding Mr. Walker, all from Richmond and Hampton Roads area newspapers and television stations. That's enough to meet GNG. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 00:39 on July 31, 2016 (UTC)
- All I could find was about two sentences on Walker, but again, I used Bing. He seems to have had his heart in the right place, and was notable in his community. Let me see if I can put together a stub article. Magnolia677 (talk) 00:44, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- Google is always better than Bing. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 00:47 on July 31, 2016 (UTC)

As far as the sports stuff in Kentucky, the content being added for the most part would not have even been appropriate in the articles on the school's themselves. Although I cannot point to any discussion where a consensus was made, it is well established precident we don't discuss amateur sports in settlement articles. Wikipedia is not a collection of all things. To me it seems that high school sports belong in the articles on high schools. If there was good solid secondary sourcing illustrating the cultural importance of high school sports to the community, I could see that content. But poorly formed Listings of minor achievement? No way. And please educate me on how any of us misused twinkle. The editor in question was blocked for non response to talk page queries, a perfectly valid block. To date he has not responded although since he started up again after his block and stopped after I templated him again....I'm pretty sure he saw it. I absolutely do not see the merit of any of your complaints on this subject. Don't care to waste my time on the others. John from Idegon (talk) 01:07, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- @John from Idegon: Well, I see you are clearly willing to discuss things. How about you tell us how you really feel? No wonder the user didn't respond, I wouldn't respond to you if I were him.
- Since you actually can't show me an actual consensus, I'm going to tentatively assume that there isn't one. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association is a notable source and is clearly reliable in this instance. If the information couldn't be used in the page about the high school (if there isn't a page), then it being added to the town page is perfectly fine. I know, I've used WP:USCITIES on an GA/FA/TFA article before. The listings could have been made a little clearer, that we agree on. There could be a better written sentence or two added with the source.
- Removing sourced content from a page, using TWINKLE and templating a user (using TWINKLE) with a warning is misusing TWINKLE. I, unfortunately, have clear knowledge of the rules regarding TWINKLE. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 01:15 on July 31, 2016 (UTC)

I don't discuss specific content issues on user talk pages. If you replace the content in any of the articles I will revert you unless you can make a cultural tie to the community with appropriate references. We can then have a discussion in which I am certain you will not prevail and waste a ton of time. If that is your choice go for it. BTW if you act like a smarmy mouthed dick as you did above you should expect to get the same in return. See ya in the funny papers. John from Idegon (talk) 05:30, 31 July 2016 (UTC)

- Actually, every edit I made was backed by policy, and most times I actually cited the policy in my edit summary. I was very careful not to make edits which could appear vexatious (although I did made four reverts in 24 hours). It may appear as if two editors were squabbling, but I was trying to save an article from a flood of unsourced and trivial content. Small towns in Mississippi are definitely more fun than rappers, and actually seem to have a lot more experienced page watchers. Speaking of which, GNIS was down for maintenance last weekend and it was like losing my right arm. I've been working all week on an article about "Old Greenville", the former county seat of Jefferson County, Mississippi and once a flourishing community, until the place just vanished off the map. It's taken me hours just to find its approximate location. All the best. Magnolia677 (talk) 11:38, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

Thunder Bay
[edit]I do not know what you expect me to do. I cited sources. The cable TV company info is based (1) on the entry for Thunder Bay in my 1981 edition of Television Factbook, (2) on Wikipedia's own info that stated Rogers had to divest itself of some of the cable systems it acquired. The reference to phone service providers came from Canadian Numbering Administration (CNAC) website showing the names of companies holding NXX prefixes assigned at Thunder Bay. GBC (talk) 00:50, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
- I challanged your two sources, "CNAC" and "Television Factbook, 1981". Do you have more details about these? Are either available online (this is not required but is very helpful). Please take a moment to read Help:Referencing for beginners, or leave a note here and I can assist you to source these. Also, Wikipedia cannot be used as a source. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 00:57, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
- The CNAC website is on-line (website implies online) at www.cnac.ca, select numbering resources, status of NXXes, select area code. The Television Factbook of 1981 is a two-volume publication, each book more than two inches thick, the entire lot costing well in excess of $100 at the time, a considerable investment in a resource giving details about televisions stations (one station per page, with advertising rates, audience coverage by county or census district, station personnel, signal strength, map showing A and B contours. The cable television section lists systems, ownership, equipment in use, channels carried, capacity, coverage area. Believe me, this is one of the industry-leading sources, and has been published annually since 1949. I used ones at a university library before I had an income and could purchase my own.GBC (talk) 00:40, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

- Please take a moment to read WP:PROVEIT, which states that it is your responsibility to provide a reliable source for all your edits: "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing a citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution." Unfortunately, your edits did not have a source and were removed. As a lifelong resident of that community, this must be frustrating for you, but Wikipedia does not accept original research. If you need help, please see Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources, or feel free to ask me. Also, based on your previous edits, I'd also suggest you read WP:NOTSOAPBOX. Thank you. Ferrari 488
[edit]Hi, I've seen that you have reverted my edit on the Ferrari 488 GTB page. I admit that the photo shows better in wide format, but 1000px seems to stretch it way across the page and could become quite a distraction. Does 750px work for you? Thanks! – Tony Patt (talk) 11:55, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
- Most of the examples at Template:Wide image are at 1800, but those are true panoramas. Sure, 750 would look great. If someone wants it bigger that can change it. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:17, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Vancouver is not on the border. I live south of Vancouver & still in BC. It takes about 30 minutes to drive from Vancouver to the border. Also Edmondton & Calgary & Winnipeg have more people according to linked article List of the 100 largest municipalities in Canada by population. Please revert your revert.--JimWae (talk) 00:09, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
- Please don't use Wikipedia as a source. Also, you linked Canada. Finally, you're splitting hairs when you say Vancouver isn't a "border city", but you are correct, it's about a 5 minute bike ride from the border. In fact, Greater Vancouver is on the border. However, the Greater Vancouver article gets 321 views per day, while the Vancouver article gets 5,113 views per day, so readers are going to the Vancouver article for information about this place. You added so many edits in succession it would have been difficult to pick through each of them. Please correct them then add them back. Magnolia677 (talk) 00:38, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
- I copied a clause that included a link to Canada; that is the 1 thing you are right that I should have caught. The pronoun reference is/was to the last relevant noun, viz CITY. A single sentence should not jump around in its reference to Vancouver & Greater Vancouver, anyway. Windsor is right on the border. If Vancouver is considered a border city also, how about Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Montreal, Toronto. Such an ill-defined & confusing assertion about border city does not belong in the lede. I did not use wikipedia as a link IN the article, I used it for you to refer to. Yes Greater Vancouver goes right to the border - but the pronoun did not (not clearly or not at all) refer to Greater Vancouver. Rockport, Texas
[edit]Howdy Magnolia677, You recently made an AfD(?) to my edit yesterday of the Rockport, Texas page. You cited the lack of a "reliable source".
The source of much of my expansion of that paragraph (Copano Bay Fishing Pier) was in fact some of the content found on that very Wiki link of the paragraph title (the Pier). The bays/water/tide/sealife reference is inferred by the "Geography" sections, and common marine estuarine knowledge. The presence of 'resort piers' can be verified by their webpages (not allowed here I assume), if any; many private homes have them too.
I thought it useful to a reader, potential visitor, to see more detail there on the Rockport page. As a matter of fact, that original "Pier" section/paragraph, and much of other paragraphs of the entire Rockport entry itself, were written and/or edited by me some time ago (the older version(s) was/were a mess). I wrote in the spirit of enlightening far flung Wikipedia readers, objectively and without bias (I hope), about one of the Gulf Coast's more interesting places. A place I have personally enjoyed for about four decades, and that has changed tremendously; although not near as much as another place of 'mine', SPI.
As far as the rest of my last edit, concerning fishing activities, etc., I provided a reference to the "TPWD", the Texas Parks and Wildlife Division, who administer licensing, and provide much useful information, about all TX water activities.
And as for any other Rockport related information I may have provided, I live there part-time (and less than 100 miles away the rest of the time), not hundreds of miles away. (glad I wrote about the TPWD, just remembered I need to renew my yacht's TX registration ASAP) I hope I've done this correctly, I've been using Wikipedia since it's inception, only signed in a few years ago, and make relatively few 'edits'.
I realize the admin-edit-archive features of the site are necessarily extremely complex (as my work life was), academically rooted, and I am many decades out of Uni; I find it awkward, but I'm learning. Would you consider reverting all or part of your deletion of my edit? Don't want to get into a 'urination match', but I think it was valuable input to the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JJWtx (talk • contribs) 18:26, 14 August 2016 (UTC)

- Thanks for writing. I removed the edit because it was added without a source and sounded like original research (which is not allowed on Wikipedia). I went back and looked at the Copano Bay Fishing Pier on a map and it's not even in Rockport, so I removed the whole section. You may want to add information about it to the Aransas County, Texas article. If you have trouble figuring out how to source your addition, feel free to leave me a message with a link to the source and I'll help you. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:33, 14 August 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I'm not sure why you think removing true but unsourced content is your domain, but you have an uphill battle on this Wiki if so. We have a tag called [citation needed] you should familiarize yourself with rather than just blanking sections.
I will add a source, and would love for you to actually contribute content instead of just removing true content. But it better be sourced, friend. Best, Brandonrush (talk) 17:06, 29 August 2016 (UTC) Brandonrush (talk) 17:06, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Brandonrush: That article has been tagged as needed additional citations since June 2013. So when you added over two paragraphs of additional unsourced content, it was deleted with the appropriate edit summary. Thank you for finding a source for one of the paragraphs you added. I have tagged, but not deleted, the second paragraph which appears to be original research.
- Please take a moment to look at the article Lake Ontario Ordnance Works (LOOW). I wrote much of it, and it is "good article". Now click on a Google map and look at the satellite view of the LOOW. On the south side of the LOOW is Pletcher Road. See how there appears to be a second dirt road right next to Pletcher Road? It actually was a second road running parallel to Pletcher, and was built so trucks carrying explosives or radioactive waste wouldn't have head-on collisions. I wasn't able to add that to the article though, because I couldn't find a reliable source confirming it. I know it's true though. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:53, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
- Perfect. Glad you agree a citation needed tag was more appropriate. Brandonrush (talk) 21:46, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Brandonrush: I don't agree. You added a huge paragraph of original research and it should have been deleted. You seem kind of pushy though so I let it go. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:19, 29 August 2016 (UTC)

Pecos, TX & Billy Sol Estes
[edit]Greetings. I reverted your removal of Billy Sol from the 'Pecos Notables' list. His residence there was nicely documented by NYT obit, the FIRST reference listed. As I understand the rules, "his Wiki article says nothing about living in Pecos," isn't a good enough reason to remove info fr/ an article. Tapered (talk) 02:50, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Framingham, MA
[edit]Not sure why you removed Football Outsider's Aaron Schatz from Framingham, MA, an addition I made. I did add Aaron's twitter page as an external link to his Wikipedia page, which notes Framingham as his location. In terms of his biographical connection to there I admit I do not know that exactly. I also removed Roger Clemens from Framingham, MA, unless you source why he should be on the page. I had a vague notion that he owned a house there, but is that enough to be on the page? There is nothing on his Wikipedia page that notes a connection to Framingham.Bdavid1111 (talk) 02:05, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
List of deaths in rock and roll
[edit]There have, over many years, been differences between editors over the content of that article. I have attempted, more than once, to get a discussion going on criteria for inclusion, but that has always failed to get the necessary traction. The current consensus - which of course can change through discussion - is that those associated with "rock music" in any way, very loosely defined, can be included. This has been interpreted as including R&B, country, jazz, etc., musicians and associated non-musicians. I'm always happy to have a discussion over inclusion criteria on the article talk page - but it is quite a contentious issue, with differences between US and UK editors only one part of it. If you want to start another discussion, that's fine by me. Ghmyrtle (talk) 13:27, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for writing. After I made my deletions I went to leave a message on the talk page and wow. So much discussion and no consensus. I'm going to start another discussion to see if some consensus can be reached regarding inclusion. All the best. Magnolia677 (talk) 19:59, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

Calamity Jane and Wyoming entries
[edit]Unsure why you keep removing rather than simply editing entries on these pages where I've been adding the novel "Calamity" to pop culture sections (especially on the pages where this section is so spare). Is your critique with the content or the level of detail? Wikipedia guidelines do not hold a notability standard to page-level contributions ("notability guidelines do not apply to article or list content") and this title is at least as notable as some of the other more recent published titles on Calamity Jane's page (specifically, why would a wide-release novel, not independently-published, we any less notable than short stories or My Little Pony "mentions")? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CalamityJD (talk • contribs) 02:08, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Please take a look at some of the references that I have added instead of complaining about me adding unsourced material. I will try my best to add references to as many information as I've added. However, do take note that it can be a challenge to include references for some of the older events. I sometimes personally prefer to add references after I get all the information complete in the first place, in case you don't know. Please kindly allow me to revert the edit so that I can try to insert the relevant external links. You may revert my unsourced edit if no references are added within the next 3 days, thank you. - You have twice been blocked in the past few months for adding unsourced content. Please take a moment to read WP:BURDEN. Readers of Wikipedia should be provided with reliable information, not just with information based on some editor's personal experience. Please add reliable sources at the time of your edit. Failure to do so will get your edits reverted, and you will again be reported. Thank you for your cooperation. Magnolia677 (talk) 09:01, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
Why did you report me for vandalism despite me adding references? Tell me how many inline citacions have I added & which are the ones that I need to remove? You could have just added the WP:CITENEED tag instead in my honest opinion. I was having problems with my laptop which was why I used my phone to edit. Do u know that it is impossible for me to provide proper reference on mobile edit? What do you mean by personal experience? How is adding references a disruptive editing? Did you even read the guidelines for WP:LIST and WP:NM? Did I violate any of the guidelines there? WP:LIST doesn't contradict to WP:NOTDIRECTORY and WP:NOTEVERYTHING. Do you know how unfair it is that you reported me without understanding my perspective in the first place? I will plea to you that you can try to me more patient here because rushing yourself to take action against me doesn't resolve any conflicts here in the first place. I have already left my message on Aryajay's talk page, please kindly discuss with him before you make any concensus in blocking me, thank you. - @Xinyang Aliciabritney: - Last week you made 5 edits to AccorHotels Arena. You added Whitney Houston, Cirque du Soleil, and Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour, but failed to add a source to support your addition. You also added Bruno Mars and Mayer Hawthorne, and provided this source. However, that source doesn't once mention AccorHotels Arena or Mayer Hawthorne. Please explain yourself. Magnolia677 (talk) 11:53, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
How do you know that the article doesn't verify the performance at the venue just because it's not in english? The title clearly says " "Bruno Mars acclamé à Bercy". Although I don't understand the content of the article, but I am sure that it is relevant by the looks of it. Bercy Arena has undergone name chnages many times in history due to sponsorship reasons. How can you be fair to me when you aren't willing to give me more time to add references? What shall I do right now? Remove the inline citacions? Or to improve on the Bare URLs so that it can become a proper reference? Why aren't you complimenting me for providing references to Madonna and Justin Bieber instead of focusing on all the imperfections? Just because nobody knows how Jesus look like gives you the reason to prove that He doesn't exit only because you can't find a photo of him showing his appearance? Do you think that it is possible to provide 100% references to all the information I've added? The inability to provide proper cited reliable references doesn't discredit the existance of a past event. Please explain it to me nicely because you seems to be offended by my edit without understanding the rationales behind it. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them). WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN. We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. - @Doc James: - I skipped the how-to guides and went straight to policy, in this case, WP:SIGCOV. "Alcosynth" brings back 65,000 hits on Google, and every major news organization in the world has run a story about it. It kinda needs a Wiki article. Magnolia677 (talk) 03:33, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
Nomination of Alcosynth for deletion
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alcosynth until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.—BarrelProof (talk) 02:55, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
- Interesting that Nutt has published nothing that is pubmed indexed under the term Alcosynth. Seems rather suspect. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 03:38, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
Warning 1
[edit]Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Alcosynth. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Jytdog (talk) 03:20, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for your contributions. One of your recent contributions to Alcosynth has been reverted or removed, because it contains speculative or unconfirmed information about a future event. Please only add material about future events if it is verifiable, based on a reliable source. Jytdog (talk) 03:23, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
- You see, we even have user warnings about content that violates WP:NOT in these two ways Jytdog (talk) 03:25, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Jytdog: - Please do not blank an article which has been nominated for deletion, per WP:EDITATAFD. Your edit to alcosynth appears vexatious, coming just 4 minutes after I left a warning about your inappropriate behavior on your talk page. Magnolia677 (talk) 03:29, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
- It is not blanked. Most of the policy-violating content was removed. That's all I did. And yes you wrote the same complaint about "vexatious" at the AfD itself, and I already responded there. Jytdog (talk) 03:37, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
The article was just made, and obviously more info was going to be added, so why the fuck do you already mark it AfD? You certainly don't do your research on people. Xboxmanwar (talk) 03:24, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
- You couldn't respond yourself, you had to file a vandalism issue against me, I removed it because when I saw the article, the deletion page wasn't created yet, so it didn't link anywhere and I could delete it. Xboxmanwar (talk) 03:37, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
- Your comment is both vulgar and inappropriate. I have responded on your talk page. Magnolia677 (talk) 19:38, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

- Ok sorry i added another source. JustDoItFettyg (talk) 23:21, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
- Oh PS, can you look at the page Rich Chigga cause i don't know if he is notable. JustDoItFettyg (talk) 23:24, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
- Basically, if a biography has enough reliable secondary sources (not interviews or stuff people writes themselves), and the subject of the article has achieved some benchmark of notability (won some big award; played in the major leagues; has some songs that have genuinely charted), most editors will agree the article is notable. I don't really see that on Rich Chigga. See WP:BASIC, WP:ANYBIO, and WP:MUSICBIO for details. Thanks for asking! Magnolia677 (talk) 23:47, 22 October 2016 (UTC)

The hasty deletion nominations
[edit]Hi Magnolia677! I certainly understand that it's a daunting task to keep Wikipedia clean of spam, advertising, and rubbish, and I'm grateful for the work that you are doing. I urge you, however, to reconsider your recent nominations for deletion of the articles Charles Dwelley and The Concrete Herald. It seems to me that you only glanced at these articles, and didn't realize that most of the article about Dwelley was written NOT on the basis of his own Concrete Herald articles, but on the basis of independent secondary sources that were provided. Please examine these sources, and you'll find that they are at least comparable to the sources that are you've used in your own article Maxine Smith.
In addition, when you made your nominations, I was working on incorporating these same sources into the article about the paper. Moreover, the paper is not a small town newspaper. It covered many towns of all upper Skagit Valley, and was frequently re-quoted nationwide. (All this information is already substantiated in Dwelley's article). The bottom line is that both subjects are extensively covered in independent sources that I already outlined within your Dwelley deletion nomination.
Given the current backlog of deletion nominations, I kindly ask you to reconsider your actions. It would be quite discouraging for me to observe these templates on these articles for months until finally they will be validated. Thank you in advance, 凰兰时罗 (talk) 03:48, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) 凰兰时罗, you are mistaken on how the deletion process works. There is no backlog. An AfD discussion is open for 10 days. If concensus is not reached in that time it may be re listed. However, in both of these cases it is doubtful re listing will be needed. The article on the newspaper is sourced entirely to the newspaper or to a book it published. There are 0 independent sources and hence there is 0 showing of notability. The biography is slightly better, but not much. Neither the newspaper he owned or a book that paper published can be used to show his notability. All the other sources are from Seattle which is too local to show any widespread notability. Magnolia677 and myself may of course both be wrong, but at least for the newspaper, I doubt it. John from Idegon (talk) 04:06, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
- @John from Idegon: Thanks for clarifying the process. Even though, I'm familiar with MediaWiki, I'm quite new to English Wikipedia.
- I agree with you on the newspaper. In its present form, it doesn't provide truly independent sources, I plan to fix it shortly. However, I do not understand your argument regarding Seattle Times. I didn't see anything in the polices that would support your assertion that some secondary sources may be too or not too 'local'. Clearly Seattle Times is completely independent of Charles Dwelley or The Concrete Herald. There is no question here, correct? So, could you direct me to the policy item that you are referring to? 凰兰时罗 (talk) 04:13, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Laurentum
[edit]Thank you, Magnolia677, for explaining the errors in my changes to the titular article. I was previously unaware that expanding stub articles from corresponding pages in other languages was generally frowned upon, (especially after having seen other articles asking for people to do just that). I understand, having read the citation explanation that you gave me a link to, the importance of legitimate references made during edits. The aforementioned edits were made when I saw the comparative lack of information on the article, when compared to French, Italian and Catalan! I thought that it was a great shame that the English version had so little information in comparison. When going back to the article, I did however re-instate the map of Old Latium, as I believe that it greatly enriches the page (the map came from the page Old Latium).
I shall see if I can find any reliable resources that could be used as references in the future.

- I'm sorry but I don't understand what your question is. Magnolia677 (talk) 02:15, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
- You know that "Removing unsourced content" you always say and do on the guest appearances of discography pages well there is plenty of discography pages that is unsourced for the guest appearances. Look at Eminem discography, Future discography, Lil Yachty discography, 21 Savage discography, etc. JustDoItFettyg (talk) 02:27, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
- If you have time to add sources to those articles it would certainly be of benefit. You seem to be pretty good at it. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 02:43, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

Beckley edit
[edit]Sorry for not leaving an edit summary on the Beckley, West Virginia, article. I will try to re-do my change with an edit summary. My change corrected an error in the article. The article stated that when Raleigh County was created in 1850, Beckleyville was named the county seat. The origin for this information is a 1904 book on the history of West Virginia. However, the book is wrong because the acts of the Virginia legislature 1849-50 are available on line, digitized by Google, and clearly the the bill named the county seat Beckley, not Beckleyville. Beckleyville was never the official name of the town, either by legislation or post office name. I have a web site on the history of Beckley and Raleigh County at tripod.com and I had made this same error on my web site, trusting the 1904 book, and I presume the Wikipedia error came from copying from my web page. I only noticed this error today, looking at the actual act of the Virignia legislature, and I can't update my web page because Tripod is upgrading their network over the weekend. The Wikipedia Beckley article has another error, stating that the first cable TV system in the U. S. was in Beckley. This is nonsense, as cable TV came to Beckley in 1964, whereas cable TV originated in the U. S. in the 1940s. I might correct that also. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeff560 (talk • contribs) 21:10, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

Taylorsville
[edit]Hi, First off, I want to apologize for potentially sounding rude about you undoing my edits. I didn't intend to sound rude at all. I do appreciate you pointing out that I do not have any sources, and I fully support you undoing my changes because of it. I just want to let you know that I'm in the process right now of adding some sources to support my changes. I didn't know how to cite them at first, (I'm actually doing these edits for a school project at Taylorsville High) but after reading the article you left me, I'm going through and citing sources now. Once again, I'm sorry for possibly coming off rude, I absolutely didn't mean it.

Candyland
[edit]Good morning Magnolia677! Because "Speechless" by Candyland charted, I have reverted the speedy deletions for "Speechless", "Faces" and "Murda". Because one of the songs charted, combined with other references for other songs, I feel that Candyland is at least, minimally notable, and that all three songs can be kept or merged with Candyland (musician). --Jax 0677 (talk) 16:46, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
