Questions

1.) Someone has "reviewed my sandbox". What does this mean? Could someone tell me? Does it mean that someone viewed my sandbox, approved of it, or something else? 2.) Why are there not separate languages of Wikipedia for different dialects of languages, such as British English, American English, and Canadian English? I think there should be because Wikipedia mixes them and that can get quite confusing.

1. For this one, the only thing might be the automated page patroller software was somehow enabled for your sandbox. Whoever was the patroller at the time saw the page and let you know that it had been reviewed. No big deal. (added: Here is a page that has more detail... Wikipedia:Patrols)
2. Please consider the complications of having a separate Wikipedia for every different dialect of every different language in the world, even the many different English dialects (yes, there are more than just three). Wikipedia does have policies and guidelines for language considerations, and most disputes can be settled by discussion on any particular article's talk page. I recently participated in just such a discussion at Talk:Greenland#WP:ENGVAR, in case you'd like to see how such things go. Thank you for asking! Personal safety

Hi Madison. I'm Dave. I've been on Wikipedia for a few years and I've spent most of my time working with new users. More recently, I've been helping out behind the scenes on Wikipedia but I do like to pop my head above the parapet when I see someone struggling.

I see you've had a bit of information removed from your page, because you're a younger editor. I'm afraid this does sometime have to happen. Wikipedia is one of the biggest websites on the internet and as such any information that you post will be visible to millions of people. We recommend against having any sort of personal information, especially contact information, included anywhere on the site due to the possibility of things going wrong very quickly. I know you're probably annoyed by that, but it's really important. There's lots more information at Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors, I really do recommend you spend a little time reading it. So, to answer your question from GorillaWarfare's page, your information will not be replaced.

I'd also like to reinforce Bishonen's comments from Friday, Wikipedia is not a forum and discussions of the sort will likely end up with you being blocked.

Now that unpleasantness is out of the way, could I spend a little time congratulating you for writing Don't Look At It! Don't Touch It! It's difficult to get into article writing and I hope you spend time writing more. In fact, I'd really like it if you could have a go at The Lighthouse Keeper's Cat by Rhonda and David Armitage - a book I loved when I was growing up! Hi Madison, You might not have found it yet but Wikipedia offers a safe way for you to let other editors contact you privately: if you "enable email", they can send you an email message and you get to see their email address but they don't get to see yours. You can obviously then choose whether to reply to them off-wiki and let them have your email address, or to keep the correspondence at arm's length by emailing through Wikipedia. To do this, go to "Preferences" and look at the bottom of the first tab, "User Preferences". If you tick "Enable email from other users", then a link to "Email this user" appears in the left-hand bar on your user page and talk page (see Dave's or mine to see what it looks like). It's better than having your contact details splashed around the internet for all and sundry to see, but still means that editors can contact you personally. Welcome and Happy Editing! @Worm That Turned:: Do you think Don't Look At It! Don't Touch It! might go for WP:DYK, with a "hook" like "Did you know that ... Don't Look At It! Don't Touch It! was written after the author read a book where a mother said those words to a child stung by a bee", or " ... was written because children at his school wanted more spooky books in his school library"? (Incidentally, Madison, that's not clear: was the author a school teacher, or a school student?) Just a thought, anyway. It seems to be long enough. PamD 14:53, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

  I find Steve Patschke an interesting author with an awesome personality and background, from what I've researched so far, so I'm very excited to write articles for him. It really is too bad that his books never got more popular than they did, but you never know what is yet to come for him and his literature. It is also a big pity that, other than the articles and edits I have contributed, there is no reference whatsoever to Steve Patschke or any of his books on Wikipedia as a whole. Help again

1. What is the notability criteria for articles about websites? Like my "TASVideos" page got deleted, and now I'm scared of writing pages for websites. Maybe if I knew the criteria, I'd be able to check those sites to see if they match such criteria.

2. Also, just another question. I saw somewhere on Wikipedia (don't remember where), but it said all things must be checked for notability except for educational institutions. Can you explain that to me further?

3. I also want to join WikiProject Disambiguation. How do I do this? I want to put a userbox on my page that says that I am part of it.

1. Here are the general notability guidelines. Here are the specific guidelines for websites. Also, this essay might also help.
2. I'm not sure, but this general notability guideline would seem to contradict it.

Hallo Madison, in your edit to Winter Olympics (disambiguation) you not only removed a list which probably needed to be removed, but also removed the AfD template which must not be removed. I've reverted, and will now take the list out again. Please take care not to accidentally remove templates like this.

I'm sorry to see from your user page that you have made a decision not to use edit summaries in most cases. These are considered "good practice" (see Help:Edit summary) and are appreciated by other editors as they show what you were intending to do, or why you did what you did. Please reconsider. Thanks. I removed the AfD because that is not a page that is necessary to delete. The long list was not necessary and is probably listed in another article anyway. Lists like that are not what disambiguation pages are for, but everything else is fine and should stay. Also, I do not use edit summaries because you cannot edit them if you make a mistake on them, or if you said something you want to take back. AfD templates are not like PROD or Speedy delete nominations: you must not delete the template until the discussion has been concluded - and it says so, within the template ("this notice must not be removed, until the discussion is closed"). If you don't think the article should be deleted, then you should go to the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Winter Olympics (disambiguation) (follow the link which says "this article's entry") and say so there. Personal "test" article

Hey. I'm very interested in the history of a certain, amusing (to me) long since banned sock puppeteer on Wikipedia. I know I can't just put an article about him on Wikipedia since it's not notable anyway and I would get in trouble pretty quickly. And put CITED information about the user. As a sandbox page. Am I allowed to do this? Or does that break the rules of writing about other users. I would think that it would fall foul of one or two things. One might well be WP:FAKEARTICLE. Another might be WP:OUTING if the person in question has not already been outed and has not self-outed. If methods are discussed, WP:BEANS might be involved. Peridon (talk) 17:23, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

User page articles are like drafts or sandbox. Several editors create an article there before sending it to mainspace. Some other users also use subpages in their userspace as a storage space for information that may come in handy later on while editing. My sandbox is one of them.

Bambifan101

The user Bambifan101 is a 2008-2012 infamous sock puppeteer on Wikipedia. He claimed to be 13 years old in 2008 according to an incident report. Despite all of his vandalism, for the most part he made some pretty decent edits. True, he did work very hard for 4 years to continue to make accounts, but the whole time, he was mostly making decent edits, and contributing to Wikipedia. It is now 2014, and if he was 13 in 2008, then gosh, now he must be 19 years old. He probably cares nothing about being a Wikipedia deviant anymore anyway, and gave up two years ago it seems. Unless of course it was just a claim and he was really an immature adult trying to impersonate a 13 year old this whole time (which I can actually imagine, many people do this to troll). Anyway, since he was trying his best on his edits and stuff on many of his account, and in face on many accounts I saw, he was being completely good, and was abiding by the rules, and then got an unexpected ban. Why did he get banned so many times? Why does banning sock puppets have to be such a commitment? Why didn't you guys leave him alone when he was trying to help us out? Anyway, you may want to have a look at Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Bambifan101 for the problems that editor caused, and the comment that his absence may be due to a denial of service by Bell South. Well to be honest he kind of reminds me of myself when I was younger. I never actually vandalized Wikipedia but I have vandalized TASVideos and other speedrun sites in the past, but I'm more mature now and don't do that stuff anymore. As a former troll, I think his immaturity was quite humorous. I know you probably don't but I especially laughed at his deleting the page The Princess and the Frog and replacing it with complaints about the movie "Spider's Web: A Pig's Tale" which does not have an article because he was "bored". He also self admitted to being a sock several times. I liked the username User:Ohnobarney and User:Ohnothesimpsons. But I found him through his sock account User:Iluvteletubbies in his redirect "Tellytubby" (which is NOT vandalism since it is a common misspelling). So the point of my response is: anyway, I just am saying, why did he get banned so many times on specific accounts that were harmless? Why not just ban the ones that actually harmed Wikipedia instead of the all socks must be banned, full commitment thing? MadisonGrundtvig (talk | contribs) 23:16, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Please take a year or two to become familiar with Wikipedia's purpose (developing an encyclopedia) and standard procedures before raising commentary about banned users. All websites attract problematic users who do little to help the website, but who seek attention for themselves. The only common interest we have is Teletubbies. I beg you, please don't mistake me for him. Please listen to me. I have not done any harm and you are mistaken, because the discussion for him has been closed and his service was likely denied.
