19th-century novels task force
Are you still up for this you are a bit quiet. Do you have any more support for this TF. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 14:49, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- good luck, count me in of course :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 13:45, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm definitely interested. Let me know what's going on and when, and I'll do my best to help. Victorianist (talk) 16:12, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Liveste, on this note, will do. I have a pending MA in French Literature (waiting on the results of my exam last week), so this would probably be my best contribution area. However, any excuse to research and read is welcome! Portia1780 (talk) 18:19, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Liveste! Thanks for the friendly invitation you left on my talk page. I would certainly be interested in helping out wherever possible. Keep me updated! --Todeswalzer|Talk 23:34, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I would be willing to come in on this. Ivankinsman (talk) 17:36, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- While I'm obviously interested, I hate to sign onto more projects or task forces than I'm able to meaningfully participate in. So I'm here if you need another set of eyes for peer reviews or copyedits, but I can't be an active member. Sorry! – Scartol • Tok 00:57, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I would be willing to come in on this. Ivankinsman (talk) 17:36, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- As I have already started work with Simmaren on Jane Austen and I hope to expand that work to articles on her novels, I would be happy to join. I am more of an eighteenth-century person myself, but I would be happy to provide research assistance, copies of articles from databases, peer reviews, and copy edits for others. I must say that tackling the novelists listed in the proposal scares the Dickens out of me. :) There is so much scholarship written on each one of their novels... However, a project of people dedicated to improving these articles should make the process of writing them much easier - it will spread the work around. Awadewit | talk 03:19, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Novels - 1st Coordinators Election
An election has been proposed and has been set up for this project. Description of the roles etc., can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Coordinators. If you wish to stand, enter your candidacy before the end of March and ask your questions of anyone already standing at Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Coordinators/May 2008. Voting will start on the 1st April and close at the end of April. The intention is for the appointments to last from May - November 2008. For other details check out the pages or ask. wikify box
I see your point, I was just trying to bring the box back to my vision for it and the way it is most useful to me. What exactly are you proposing? to reinstate the five or so months? if you feel this works better, maybe it should be that way.
if you could explain your vision for the box more fully, I could give you my thoughts/suggestions. thanks for the input.

By month
Yes, I know, I wrote the template :) .... I hope that was the only one of the 27 cats I made yesterday that I missed the change. I am thinking of writing a bit of java-script to make the new months cats. Rich Farmbrough, 18:45 31 March 2008 (GMT).
Middlemarch
You seem to be the most recent contributor to the Middlemarch article, on which progress seems to have stalled. Do you know if there are any definite plans for the development of this article, with active editors involved? I have a few ideas of my own, but I don't want to cut across any existing plans which are still afloat. Brianboulton (talk) 12:33, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- I would love to help out with Middlemarch, but right now I'm in the middle of writing two articles plus my dissertation prospectus. I think I'll have more time starting in July. I know that's a few months off, but I'll try to help out when I can. Perhaps I'll throw together a plot summary for a couple of books in the next week or two. Victorianist (talk) 02:59, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- You will see that I've left some ideas for the article's development on the talk page.
If you think they represent a possible way forward, or if you think they are rubbish, I'd be equally pleased to hear your opinion - no offence will be taken. I've alerted other recent editors, too. Brianboulton (talk) 15:48, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Netball stub
Hey, Nice work on the netball stub template. That makes heaps of sense.
Matt (talk) 22:47, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the correction Liveste! I have listed the Netball-stub template at the WP:WSS/P (which I discovered 10 minutes after creating it!), and it seems to be getting support there. I hope both of you will indicate support for a project at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Council/Proposals#Netball.
- Somehow I think the biggest job will be getting articles sourced. Rugby and cricket are so lucky with their detailed stats websites.
- I've started building a project page behind the scenes at User:Dramatic/Netball, and will work on some of the sub-templates and a project banner this weekend. Feel free to suggest any components you like from other projects! (I've used the rugby union one as a basis so far - looked much better organised than the basketball project) dramatic (talk) 23:42, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Dear Liveste, thank you so much for the invitation, and thanks for your effort promoting this project. But I am not a professional researcher of genetics, I am in lack of knowledge of genetics :P I will pay more attention to this project and learn more, and of course I will do as much as I can for WikiProject_Genetics. I keep my WikiUserID out of the participant_list until some day I add it proudly :P Thanks, and please keep on good works. GLUON ZHANG (talk) 07:35, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Queensland-firebirds.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Queensland-firebirds.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:04, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Calling all active WP:NOVELS members
WikiProject Novels is currently holding a roll call, which we hope to have annually. Your username is listed on the members list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active within the project. If you still consider yourself an active WP:Novels editor, please add your name back to the Active Members list. Also feel free to join any of our task forces and take a look at the project's Job Centre to get involved!
Next month we will begin the coordinator election selection process. We hope to have more involvement and input this time around! More news will be forthcoming. Thanks, everyone! María (habla conmigo) 18:02, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Kupe and New York Giants
My logic is just that the Kupe was a giant related to New Zealand. I don't know much about either Kupe or the New York Giants. Thryduulf (talk) 12:19, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Electorate updates
There are a number of New Zealand electorate article which still don't have the full results from the 2008 election. For those you have updated, did you use a script or other method of automation, or did you do it by hand? If you have an automated method, can I have a copy please so I can finish the task. I can write my own script if need be.-gadfium 22:48, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'm about half way through writing the script, and I'll finish it off tomorrow (or maybe Saturday). If you're interested, you're welcome to a copy. It's written in Python, and if you have any programming experience or Unix expertise it won't be too difficult to understand. It takes a command line parameter of the electionresults site electorate number, and generates the templates necessary for the wiki display. It doesn't edit Wikipedia at all, the template block must then be manually pasted onto the appropriate page. At the moment, it generates the templates relating to candidates; I still have to add the logic to deal with parties which have no local candidates, and the table footer lines (total and informal votes, and majority). It identifies the winner, and calculates the candidate and party vote percentages. However, it doesn't identify the previous incumbent, or the percentage change (because it doesn't go looking for the 2005 figures to compare). It also doesn't wikilink candidates other than the winner. Once it's complete, I'll add the results to all electorates not already dealt with, and then you or I or others can add the missing links and comparitive information.-gadfium 04:53, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'll give you a copy when it's finished.-gadfium 05:21, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- The run is done. I'll check each electorate page again for further updates, for example the lede needs to report the current MP but some still report the previous one. The script can be seen at User:Gadfium/scripts, but it isn't likely to be useful again unless you want to run it on some 2005 results, and it will probably need some modifications for those to add parties which didn't stand in 2008. Feel free to ask me if you want me to modify it for any such results.-gadfium 04:56, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Netballer Infobox
Hi,
I saw you updated the Netballer Infobox a while ago, I've recently updated the Netballer Infobox so that medal tables (i.e. commonwealth games) can be integrated into it, the only thing is that it will display "Medal record" twice. Basically I can't format it to display medals nicely without a random bracket appearing at the top of the page, do you have any idea how to fix it? Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rudolph89 (talk • contribs) 14:17, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your help, I am a bit lost when it comes to those infoboxes. I think it looks good, what do you think about showing the medals automatically when you view the page? I guess I'm one for seeing them in all their glory.Rudolph89 (talk) 16:36, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
