Netball by country

For almost all sporting purposes (bar the Olympics), Scotland competes as a country in its own right. So please do not remove "X in Scotland" from the "X by country" sport categories. --MacRusgail (talk) 12:07, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Just in case you don't have Aorangi School on your watch list, can I draw your attention to its talk page? Schwede66 05:56, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

WPNZ Assessments

I see you are doing a lot of WPNZ assessments at the moment. I don't know whether you've seen that for the last few days, we've had a new politics parameter for this template. See Wikipedia:WikiProject_New_Zealand/politics#Tasks and Wikipedia:WikiProject New Zealand/politics/assessing for a bit more background. But in a nutshell, if it's not too much trouble, it would be great if you could include "|politics=yes|politics-importance=" in the WPNZ code on the relevant talk pages. Of course, it would be great if you could assess the politics-importance while you are at it (which will mostly not differ from the general WPNZ importance), but that might be less important than getting the parameter included in the first place. Thanks for your help. Feel free to enquire with me or Adabow if you have any queries. And thanks for doing all the hard work! Schwede66 23:39, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Can I suggest that we move this discussion to the politics talk page, please? Schwede66 02:04, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

New Zealand politics task force

Stubs

G'day Liveste - I've noticed you've been removing stub tags from some very small articles. Some of them, sure, are no longer stubs, some of them are really to small to be anything else. While an article might be assessable by the standards of WPNZ as Start-Class, that doesn't mean that it's necessarily no longer a stub (it does mean that it's no longer Stub-Class, but that's something completely different). An article like Pete Montgomery is still definitely a stub! Grutness...wha? 22:41, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

The reason for the difference is that "stub" is supposed to be fairly standard across the whole of Wikipedia, whereas individual projects have their own views of what sort of article is likely to be regarded as Start-Class. The whole confusion is because when the assessment scheme came into being someone decided that "Stub-Class" would be a good name for the smallest assessment level, even though the WP-wide stub scheme was already using its own standards. As for the actual size of what is or isn't a stub, you're right that there's no hard-and-fast rule, but size isn't the only criterion - more important is whether the article could be easily expanded (I wrote a user essay on that a while back which might explain a bit better - see here). In any case, you're doing a good job with the assessment, so these comments aren't intended to slow your work down at all! :) Grutness...wha? 03:11, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Nice article, Mr Grutness. I thought I'd point out that the politics task force is also actively assessing articles (although with not anywhere near as much energy as Liveste). So if there's anything that we need to know that we don't, drop a note on the talk page. Schwede66 04:03, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Ralph Love

Hi Liveste - it's borderline, but I'd say it's probably beyond being a stub. There's still a lot that could be added (including a photo?) , but what's there is full enough for it to be beyond a stub. Grutness...wha? 23:58, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Editing articles

Hi Liveste. I have a question. If I wanted to change an image on an article say on Queen Victoria and I wanted to replace the main image with an image from Wikimedia Commons, how would I go about doing that? --Guinevere1 19:44, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Discussion at Novels

Hey did you see the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Novels#Category:American_novels, the discussion is kindof stalling and we could use some new thoughts. Sadads (talk) 16:39, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Chelsey Tregear

Re: "Hi Gardrol. Thanks for updating the information on Chelsey Tregear (née Nash). It would have been better if a separate article for "Chelsey Tregear" had not been made in the first place, allowing the "Chelsey Nash" article to be easily retitled to reflect her new name. However, having noticed two separate articles on the same player, I was in the middle of a content merge into "Chelsey Tregear" (verifying a few facts along the way), when you redirected Tregear back to Nash. Did you have a specific reason for moving the article back to her old name? If not, then the article on her should be moved back to her current name"

Hi Liveste, sorry about this, I think we were both trying to do the same thing, to ensure there was one article. I originally tried the proper method of moving "Chelsey Nash" article to "Chelsey Tregear" - which failed due to the creation of the new article. I then changed the new article to a redirect in the hope that I could move the page to it, only to find that you had done the same with the old one. Therefore I reverted your redirect, but still couldn't move the page. I think the appropriate thing is to request the move of the Nash page to Tregear, so that the correct history is maintained. I'd like to request this but will wait a day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gardrol (talkcontribs) 01:05, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Adelaide Thunderbirds 2008.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Adelaide Thunderbirds 2008.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 02:06, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

2011 ANZ Champs

Hi Liveste, Im doing a lot of work with the ANZ Champs site too and it looks you'll be adding stats for 2011 and giving the teams a 2011 season page. Good Idea. I work with the Transfer section, Its mine lol. And I have added detail to it. Keep up the good work and don't forget the Southern Steel when you do the details, they haven't got an article yet! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex0274 (talkcontribs) 05:13, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

2011 ANZ Champs RE

Re to Dianne Mason. I know Dianne personally and I have explained to her the lack of netball pictures on wikipedia and the tight restrictions, she has given me permission to do this and I have classed them as my property, but has allowed me to as long as I recognise her by stating: Copyright Dianne Mason in bold. contribs) 05:13, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

(Reverted formatting: not a bad idea, but there's no need to highlight this particular historical aspect over many others, e.g. Moriori, in the main article)

The changes I made do not highlight this aspect over any others. It is simply a subsection describing events of the Archaic period. It should be included to help for quick access to this information.

The reason I included it is because I was reading about the Mao and Haast Eagle, and found that the Māori caused their extinction. After reading the Māori page, I found it hard to find the information concerning the events that led to the extinction of these species.

Since wiki is an encyclopedia that is designed to provide easy access to unbiased information, I will repost my changes in a few days. You may debate this decision with me here on your talk page.

There is no priority or highlighting of the Mao extinction, the information is simply more clear and accessible in the article with the included subsection.

Since my included piece is a subsection of the Archaic period, less emphasis is placed on the Māori Related Extinctions than on the Archaic period, therefore the argument that "highlight this particular historical aspect over many others" is invalid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.202.24.78 (talk) 01:15, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

I think the article is too general for such fine division into subheadings. I note that the articles Paleo-Indians and Indigenous Australians do not contain subheadings dealing with the extinction of megafauna in those areas. The latter article contains much less history than Māori does because the history has a separate article, History of Indigenous Australians, which also contains no subsection such as you suggest. You must drill down further to Prehistory of Australia to find the section "Advent of fire farming and megafauna extinctions". I suggest that a similar section would be appropriate in Prehistory of New Zealand, but we have no such article as yet.-gadfium 05:30, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Discussion moved to Talk:Māori#Māori Related Extinctions per Gadfium's suggestion. Liveste (talkedits) 09:44, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
