Speedy deletion nomination of Selection Trust
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Selection Trust requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://aim25.com/cgi-bin/vcdf/detail?coll_id=3824&inst_id=1. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. S Philbrick(Talk) 13:18, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- Sphilbrick, I've sent this one to WP:CP, hope you can agree; this was quite a significant company in the twentieth century, and we should perhaps have a page on it – without the copyvio, of course. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:42, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
Copyright problem: Selection Trust
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Selection Trust, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images from either web sites or printed works. This article appears to contain work copied from https://aim25.com/cgi-bin/vcdf/detail?coll_id=3824&inst_id=1, and therefore to constitute a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:
- Have the author release the text under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License (CC BY-SA 3.0) by leaving a message explaining the details at Talk:Selection Trust and send an email with confirmation of permission to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". Make sure they quote the exact page name, Selection Trust, in their email. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If you hold the copyright to the work: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License and GNU Free Documentation License, and note that you have done so on Talk:Selection Trust. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted "under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License (CC-BY-SA), version 3.0", or that the work is released into the public domain, or if you have strong reason to believe it is, leave a note at Talk:Selection Trust with a link to where we can find that note or your explanation of why you believe the content is free for reuse.
It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
See Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries for a template of the permissions letter the copyright holder is expected to send.
If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Selection Trust saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved.

[edit]Not finding email
[edit]I see a notification that you sent me an email, but I haven't located it. Can you simply respond on my talk page?S Philbrick(Talk) 20:27, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- I, on the other hand, did receive an email. Libanius, I'm guessing that that email has to do with our page on Selection Trust – please correct me if that is wrong? Thank you for using email for your message, so that the identity of your correspondent is not disclosed in Wikipedia.
- I'm afraid the permission you've sent me can't be used for a number of reasons: (1) it's forwarded from someone else, and we don't accept forwarded permission; (2) it's not sufficient – it doesn't specify a licence, and is limited to Wikipedia only; and (3) it was sent to me personally, not to OTRS, and I have no authority to accept it and no way of logging it were I to do so.
- If the person wants irrevocably to release that content under a licence that would allow anyone, anywhere, to reproduce it in any way they please including with modifications and for commercial use, then please ask him/her to be kind enough to follow the instructions given on this page. Please make clear to him/her that even if permission is received, there is no guarantee that all or indeed any of the content will be used in Wikipedia. Sphilbrick, have I missed anything here? – if so, do please say! Regards to both, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:40, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- Justlettersandnumbers, I think you nailed it. S Philbrick(Talk) 22:18, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- Justlettersandnumbers, The one thing I might add is that the copyrightholder can license acceptably, and show the licensing on the page itself, which is easier to handle than going through OTRS, but that's their call. S Philbrick(Talk) 22:24, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Carlos de Eizaguirre
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Carlos de Eizaguirre, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.elperiodico.com/es/noticias/barcelona/titanic-catalan-6047895. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
- It appears to have the same content as es:Carlos de Eizaguirre, an article that exists on another Wikimedia project. This may be because it was copied and pasted from that article, or because it was transwikied from the English Wikipedia to another project. (See section A2 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) To learn about requests for, and coordination of, translations from foreign-language Wikipedias into English, please see Wikipedia:Translation.

Please don't copy material you find elsewhere online
[edit]Hello. I am Diannaa and I am a Wikipedia administrator. Prose you find online is almost always copyright, and cannot be copied here; it's against the copyright policy of this website to do so. All prose must be written in your own words. The Wikipedia copyright policy and its application are complex matters, and you should not edit any more until you have taken the time to read and understand our copyright policy. There's a simplified version of our copyright rules at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. Further copyright issues will result in you being blocked from editing.— Diannaa (talk) 14:19, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
Hi @Libanius: How goes it? I reviewed your article Herzmansky and your other article e.g Imre von Santho. They are really cool, but a lot of them are not sufficiently referenced with whole sections needing sources. I think, don't spare the gas, when refs are needed. scope_creepTalk 00:19, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
Recent edit reversion
[edit]In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.
I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.S Philbrick(Talk) 16:34, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs
[edit]Thank you for your recent articles, including Gerngroß Department Store, which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK. Let me know if you need help, Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:41, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages
[edit]Thank you for your recent articles, including Gerngroß Department Store, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:41, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
One more
[edit]Also please try to add WP:INTERWIKI links. TIA! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:41, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

Request reason:
article was sourced, referenced and attributed. In fact the section deleted was including multiple references to various sources. There is an on-going problem at Wikipedia that some editors imagine that an author of a book/site actually is the original source of the information .. e.g. shipslist, wrecksite when in fact their information comes from other sources (or perish the thought was made up or incorrect). I am a qualified librarian.. graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology 1978-81 and know very well what copyright law is and the fact that copyright law differs in different countries for different media (reference the ignorant comments about French postcard copyright that I have witnessed in here. As the book in question was under Australian copyright, if you know more on the subject than I do please cite to me the section of the Australian legislation
Decline reason:
You did not do as asked by Diannaa. We aren't interested in hearing about Australian copyright law, please answer the points given. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 12:02, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

There was no breach of copyright

Libanius (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I am not going to admit to a breach of copyright if there was none. First we have Diannaa winging it with an unsubstantiated claim (contrary to Australian copyright law) then we have 331dot saying she doesn't care about Australian copyright law (try that one in court!) and now we have a circling of the wagons around a flippant decision of Diannaa and a flaunting of copyright law by 331dot. And you want me to say they are right? Before you get behind Diannaa, you should maybe go back and look at the text she deleted and you will see she was wrong in the first instance rather than compounding her error
Decline reason:
This is clearly going nowhere, since you keep refusing to get the point. Talkpage access revoked. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 16:31, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
