Please note that the only similarity between this posting and the shipslist article is the list of ships (and even that differs in that I have lengths, numbers of passengers, more correct and detailed information).

The list of vessels is public domain. No-one can claim they "own" the list of vessels belonging to the company.

In fact the main source for most of the article relating to the shipping contracts comes from the US Trade Report of 1932 (see image). Shipslist information is actually wrong on this score and nowhere near as detailed.

Please have a look at Earwig's tool to see the overlap with http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/lines/csa.shtml, which is a copyright web page. There's a lot more copied than a list of ships. — Diannaa (talk) 17:03, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would beg to differ. The Contrats postales jpeg is to show that the source of my text is the US government. It is not for public display and the refernce is shown in the text of original posting.

I would suggest that shipslist actually is claiming copyright on information that it does not own!

The image shows an unsourced scan from an unidentified book, and doesn't actually prove anything at this point.— Diannaa (talk) 18:29, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The reference is actually in the article of Compagnie de Navigation Sud-Atlantique!!!! [1] This might suggest you are not actually looking at the references in the article which you are challenging.

I have now found the book and am able to look inside it using Google. However I am unable to locate inside the book the content that is marked on the copyvio report. Please have a look at this link and tell me please which page(s) contain the content in question, which is highlighted. Thank you.— Diannaa (talk) 18:24, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In the future, please add attribution when copying from public domain sources: simply add the template {{PD-notice}} after your citation. I have done so for this article. Please do this in the future so that patrollers (and our readers) will be aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself, and that it's okay to copy verbatim. Thanks, — Diannaa (talk) 19:13, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
