name template
I noticed that there's a problem with combing the templates. The "origin" parameters don't mean the same things. Alot of people used that for languages or 'regions', but the newer template uses that parameter for the original form of the name. So it's kinda messing things up. See Alice - The word "English" should be under the "language" parameter I think (or maybe "languageorigin"). Any idea how to tackle this problem?--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 06:58, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Tagging process
See [1] for the process I was using ("Tagging process"). However instead of pre-parse, I started using Special:Export, pasting the list of articles, and then combing them for the relevant data (it was faster than pre-parse). DEFAULTSORT on talk pages
Hi, re this edit - there is a better way: almost all WikiProject banners recognise a |listas=
parameter, so instead of using {{DEFAULTSORT:Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (Radio Series)}}
, just add |listas=Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (Radio Series)

, but if you look in the categories at the bottom, almost all of them show the page under the H's, not the T's; see, for example here. The two exceptions are Category:Selected anniversaries (March 2009) and Category:Selected anniversaries (March 2010), because these categories are added by{{OnThisDay}}
. This template generates wikicode like[[Category:Selected anniversaries (March 2009)|{{PAGENAME}}]]
, i.e. it imposes its own sortkey and so defeats the DEFAULTSORT. A separate DEFAULTSORT would not change that. - I've not examined all WikiProject banners - there are far too many of them - but every single one which I have examined recognises the
|listas=
parameter, and the action for each one is identical. Unfortunately it's often overlooked, because it's not documented on very many - one where it is documented is{{WikiProject Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy}}
. The easiest way of checking if a project banner recognises|listas=
is to go to the template page, and if it's not in the ducumentation, click the "Edit" or "View source" tab, and look for the line
- Thus, since
|listas={{{listas|}}}
- it's usually about the sixth line down.

Canadian culture on White pride
Hi Koavf. Would be interested to know why you've added Category:Canadian culture to the article White pride. It isn't something most people would immediately think of as being a particularly Canadian phenomenon. It might be useful to have a source for the existence or prevalence of white pride movements in Canada.

Josef Stalin
I have reversed your change to this name at Hallmark Hall of Fame. The program referenced used the spelling "Josef". "Josef" is not a misspelling! It is an alternative spelling that is just as valid as "Joseph", and indeed more correct as a transliteration from Russian. Redirects should be preferred when there is a valid alternative spelling. I have also removed the "unprintworthy" category from the redirect. Granting that "Joseph" is the more common English usage, and that, by convention, Wikipedia puts the article itself under that name, this still does not justify changing all articles where the name appears. It is much better to let the writers of articles use the form they want. The large number of changes that you have made impose a POV on the spelling of the name. The use of "Josef" in other sites is not inconsiderable. If long term trends were to reflect the stricter transliteration Wikipedia should itself be prepared to mirror the trend, not use its enormous popularity to command the trend. What better way to reflect the trend than to allow editors to use the form they prefer? Eclecticology (talk) 18:47, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
- Modern transliteration all tend to romanize "Ф" as "F"; "PH" would be considered obsolete. See Romanization of Russian. To be perfectly correct "Иосиф" should be transliterated as "Iocif", but that option would have little support for a personal name for such a well known person. It is nevertheless used for the transliteration of names for more obscure persons. The article for Joseph Stalin was put there on the basis of a Google count for the most popular English version, but it's not an overwhelming popularity. Some key publications like Time use "Josef". Having both names in use will reflect current usage, and thus reflect changing popularity. I don't think that mere alphabetical proximity is a sufficient basis for making a redirect prospectively unprintworthy. I have seen alternative spellings come immediately before or after the article itself in the British Dictionary of National Biography. If omitting the alternative really matters at that time it's an easy editorial decision then; we don't have to decide for them now. Eclecticology (talk) 22:51, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

- So there was a CfD on this where a small number of people participated almost a year ago. I didn't run into the category until now, but it's only a category, and I'm not willing to waste my time on debates about deleting categories that are there for the sole purpose of humouring a sector of the editorial community. The idea of a print Wikipedia has been around for quite some time. Now, as then, my view is that I'll believe it when it happens. Meanwhile, Wikipedia has become much bigger. The number of trees that would now need to be sacrificed is considerably more than what would then have been needed for an estimated 300 large volumes. Of course, some people are working to print subsets of the Wikipedia corpus. Let those people make their own editorial decisions. For now I will limit myself to removing inappropriate applications of the category when I find them, but I'm not going to look for them. Have fun. Eclecticology (talk) 05:45, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

RE: Assessment
The article lacks of coverage. There is no background, no critical reception, I see only three sources, and the most important, there is no evidence that this album is notable. Supporting materials refers to all possible and relevant materil (if possible free) in the article (images, infobox and diagrams), there is only one infobox and a non-free album cover. Images of Byrne and/or the tour can be added. B-class means on either Wikiproject "a good and complete article that just need somebody approve it to be a GA". See Hitmixes as what I'm talking of a short article that was approved at GA. If the article cannot be expanded more than that, or cannot say why it is notalbe, it can be easily merged at Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno Tour or Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. ۞ Tbhotch™ & (ↄ), Problems with my English? 04:36, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
- "Significant coverage in reliable sources" means exactly that, that the subject received "significant" coverage. Thus, three sources are not "significant coverage", regardless their reliability. Also remember that "if the musician or ensemble is notable ... their officially released albums may have sufficient notability" does not means that those articles are notables and independents by default. Hi, couple of things:
- There is a suggestion on Wikipedia:Edit requests#Edits affecting several pages that, when you have several similar requests, you add the request to one page rather than making lots of separate requests. If you could do this next time, it will probably be easier for both of us.
- On Template talk:Es icon I've asked you to point to a discussion or consensus that supports your requests. I don't want to spend time doing all these unless I'm sure they are to be viewed positively!

And did you know that our bot policy specifically forbids mass category creation in article space without consensus? Preserving attribution
Hi, I noticed that you manually performed a speedy rename, and I wanted to remind to you to please preserve attribution by listing the names of contributors to the old category in the edit summary of the new category (see e.g. here or here). Hi. I saw your move of I'm With You (album) to I'm with You (album). Are there any sources that indicate that this is the appropriate capitalization? I can't seem to find any. Every reliable source I see uses a capital "W".
You also seem to have tagged the redirect's talk page. Is there a reason for this?

- That's a fairly deceptive redirect. "MOS:" stands for "Manual of Style", but the target of that redirect is completely unrelated to the Manual of Style. That redirect ought to be retargeted or deleted. --MZMcBride (talk) 19:20, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
- Caps, etc. I moved it based on WP:CAPS. As for tagging the redirect talk page, I've done it to thousands of pages, adding them to Category:Redirect-Class Album articles. {{Album}} has the field

- I'm not sure I follow. If an artist releases an album with a specific name, what part of Wikipedia's capitalization guidelines make it okay to change that?

- Specific name All kinds of stylistic choices are used with capitals and Wikipedia rarely reflects those choices with article names. Western Sahara WikiProject
Being quite new at contributing to Wikipedia, I was so glad to discover the existence of the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Western_Sahara, and I would like to thank you and send some wikilove for the great work you have put into this project! I'm not sure if I will be able to contribute much to the project myself, as I'm neither an expert on the topic nor a native English speaker, but I will try to follow many of the pages related to the project and perhaps fix things now and then. As a start, I spent some time re-organizing, cleaning up and fixing references for Sahrawi refugee camps in Tindouf Province, Algeria, working mainly on the first half of the article. Hello, Koavf. I noticed through my watchlist that you performed this edit, which fixed the dashes on the article. One of those dashes that you changed, though, was part of the name of the image file for the album cover featured on this page. That made the image red and not show up. Completely new abortion proposal and mediation
In light of the seemingly endless disputes over their respective titles, a neutral mediator has crafted a proposal to rename the two major abortion articles (pro-life/anti-abortion movement, and pro-choice/abortion rights movement) to completely new names. The idea, which is located here, is currently open for opinions. As you have been a contributor in the past to at least one of the articles, your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
The hope is that, if a consensus can be reached on the article titles, the energy that has been spent debating the titles of the articles here and here can be better spent giving both articles some much needed improvement to their content. Please take some time to read the proposal and weigh in on the matter. Even if your opinion is simple indifference, that opinion would be valuable to have posted. I'm not very familiar with the External link policies, but I would like to fix List of sects in the Latter Day Saint movement, so I am asking for you for a starting place, since you tagged it with {{Toomanylinks}} here. Please tell me what I need to do? To me all these links seem appropriate since they link to the various websites for the sect listed above. There are alot of sects so the list is long. They had previously been in the article, but were move to an external links section during the work done to make it a featured list, since external links should not appear in the article. However, if this isn’t appropriate, then by all means they should be removed, but, again, I just don’t know what the polices are.
