Non-free use disputed for Image:LG.svg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:LG.svg. Unfortunately, I think that you have not provided a proper rationale for using this image under "fair use". Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. Note that the image description page must include the exact name or a link to each article the image is used in and a separate rationale for each one. (If a link is used, automated processes may improperly add the related tag to the image. Please change the fair use template to refer to the exact name, if you see this warning.)
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 19:14, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
rat edit
[edit]I didn't add the section on Gender Differences, I just changed the information previously added to a more encyclopedic format, and suggested it may be deleted... I also "scrubbed" some vandalism off in the Species and Description section. Before you accuse someone of vandalism, check the history. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.58.240.99 (talk) 23:57, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Panda Restaurant Group.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Panda Restaurant Group.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:19, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Image deletion request
[edit]King of Hearts, I have reason to believe that Image:Sparkling Downtown Phoenix.jpg is not in the public domain as it states on the license information. In March 2008 the image was moved to Commons from English Wikipedia and it says that the "transfer was stated to be made by User:King of Hearts." I hope I am correct to inform you about this. I have found the original image at http://www.wildnatureimages.com/Phoenix_Panoramic_Photos.htm where it shows the image is copyrighted and is for sale. I do not believe that the photographer would put the image under the public domain and allow for it to be placed on Wikipedia if he is attempting to sell it. Is it possible to have the image deleted from Commons? Thank you. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 00:08, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- I would advise you to contact User:Sonoran dweller (the original uploader), and see what he thinks. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 00:36, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it has been a week since I left a message on Sonoran dweller's talk page. This editor has not yet responded to my message, even though (s)he has made an edit on 16 May. How long should I wait for a response? What happens if I do not receive a response?
- I should add that by looking at User talk:Sonoran dweller, you can see that originally the image had no copyright information, then was a non-free image with a claim of fair use. For me, this appears as though the user selected non-free because the image was truly non-free. Then, when (s)he learned that it would be deleted, the copyright was shanged to public domain. Concerning your warning
[edit]this is not vandalism. Read my edit summary and check out the article's history. You just abused your rollback feature! and btw...i'd check out what vandalism really is...you can by reading WP:Vandalism...and uhhh...WP:AGF...and WP:BITE Good day to you! 79.233.121.11 (talk) 23:09, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'll assume WP:AGF here...but the only thing I tagged as "we don't need this" was this diff. Again...you should actually read the edit summary and check out the diffs and the history of the article before hitting the button. I'm currently cleaning up and rewriting the article. I'll continue in the coming days. I've also noted that on the article's talk page. 79.233.121.11 (talk) 23:50, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Taproot Audio Design
[edit]Taprootaudio(talk) is still drafting Taproot Audio Design, expect some wholesale changes. He's the article's creator and an inexperienced editor. The article started out somewhat spammy and he's trying to make it more encyclopedic. Give him a hand if you can. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 23:38, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi,
I noticed that you are currently online. Is there any chance you could move Talk:Al Harrington (NBA player) to Talk:Al Harrington? This move is non-controversial, as the main articles have already been moved. Thanks, Bash Kash (talk) 00:34, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

BRB Canal
[edit]I do think that the Brb Canl should be a separate article becausse it was a major position and it was the place of death for Maj. Raja Aziz Bhatti. What on earth
[edit]Care to explain this edit? Fisher Queen was reverting vandalism by an indefinitely blocked user and you warn her for vandalism? That's incredibly inappropriate. I hope it was an error. Thanks, Gwernol 01:06, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'll bet he's using some vandalism-fighting aid- I used to revert the wrong edit on a regular basis when I was using VandalProof, which is why I don't use it any more. I'm sure it was a mistake. I once threatened to block Guy. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 01:08, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm sure this was an accident, but when you were reverting User:Maxim's edit, you reverted to some vandalism.(diff) But don't worry, I reverted back to the good version. (: 99.230.152.143 (talk) 23:02, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
SPAM content

Indefinite blocks for adolescent users.
[edit]I note you gave an indefinite block to ShadowUmbrella. That youngster is an unrepentant vandal with a theatre of sock puppets. He/she certainly merited a long block. Despite this an indefinite block gives the message, “We will never want anything to do with you ever again.” A silly youngster aged 13 to15 may at 18 to 20+ be a university student capable of making useful contributions to Wikipedia. Which of us hasn’t done silly things when we were under 16? Certainly many of these youngsters know how to make sock puppets and evade a block. If they’ve been blocked indefinitely at 13 will they want to start new accounts at 18? Have you and the other admins considered giving blocks of at most 1 year or 2 years in these cases? Proxima Centauri 2 (talk) 11:12, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- Personally I often give 1-year blocks, but practically I don't think the indef is any real problem. Many of them won't remember their username by the time they're old enough to contribute, and those who do can make a good case when they request unblocking; I don't think any admin would decline to unblock someone who explained that situation politely. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 20:52, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
