The page Draft:Dr. Harinder Pal Singh Ahluwalia has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. - Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|Your reason here}}

Unblock request

Request reason:
Hi i am requesting unblock of the account so I my continue with my first draft BLP. I kevin Vohra agree to following guidelines mentioned below; I agree to avoid creating or directly editing articles related to your organisation (requested edits will still be permitted) I agree to abide by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use and disclose your paid relationship in accordance with the paid contributor policy I will indicate what areas of Wikipedia you intend to edit in the future Cheers, Kevin Vohra
Decline reason:
No. You cannot on the one hand say "i am requesting unblock of the account so I my continue with my first draft BLP" and on the other hand say you "agree to avoid creating or directly editing articles related to your organisation". These are directly contradictory statements. Yamla (talk) 20:21, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Hi Yamla,
Thanks for your recommendation in regards to the request for unblock. As you know, I am researching the BLP on Dr. Harinder Ahluwalia who is currently CEO of IES . I do agree to avoid creating or directly editing articles related to IES. I can assure you that this BLP is not about promoting IES but will be edited properly to outline Harinder Ahluwalia's lifetime achievements and contributions to academia, and his leadership with a number of organizations, such as IEEE, IMFS, WMO, and Sikh community, thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevin at IES (talk • contribs)
- No thanks. You won't be unblocked to do that. --Yamla (talk) 15:35, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi Yamla,
I apologize, so you do not agree with me editing this BLP, I understand your policy. My question then is how can I write this Biography because it needs to be done asap any suggestions ? thank you.
- Nothing "needs to be done" here. Wikipedia has no deadlines, and we frankly are unconcerned with what you have been tasked with doing or any deadlines you have. You will not be unblocked to do that. Feel free to show your boss or superiors this message. 331dot (talk) 17:08, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi
That's fine 331dot I apologize for seeming a bit pushy and concerning you. So i think what you are trying to explain is that this is considered a Wiki Conflict of Interest (COI). So basically in order to get the Dr.'s BLP article published the page should be contributed by someone that is not with the organization, correct ?
Mr. kevin
- There's no loophole here. You cannot find someone else to write the article, either, because then you are just causing them to have a conflict of interest. --Yamla (talk) 19:50, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi Yamala,
Really, so please explain how does a person like this go about getting their article published https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._R._Narayana_Murthy ?
- Wikipedia editors notice them in independent reliable sources and choose to write about them. Ideally, from Wikipedia's side, the subject has no involvement in the creation of an article about them. (not "their article") 331dot (talk) 20:07, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Ok, wow so what you and Yamla are saying here is the article sort of has to be edited anonymously by some random dude ?
- Yes. That's the whole point of Wikipedia. People choosing to write about subjects that they take note of in independent reliable sources that may interest them. We have an article about Donald Trump because people have taken note of Donald Trump in the media, books, TV, and other sources independent of him and chose to write about him. It wasn't written by Trump himself or his representatives. Any person(or their representative) is free to use social media or a personal website to tell the world about themselves. If you don't intend to edit about any subject unrelated to your conflict of interest, there is nothing more to be done here. 331dot (talk) 20:23, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Ok thanks for your time guys, have a nice day.
Hi Guys,
Now that I know the more about your editing process I apologize for this error on my part. I am requesting that you unblock this account in case i decide to contribute something unrelated to IES. I state that user 'Kevin at IES' agree to avoid creating or directly editing articles related to my organization, thank you for your time.

Hi
I have a COI with BLP that I have been researching. My question is can i request this edit? if so can you send me the link to the process, thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevin at IES (talk • contribs)
- No. You are blocked. You need to focus on getting unblocked and frankly, this request will count against you in that process. You seem incredibly focused on subject areas for which you have a conflict of interest. --Yamla (talk) 15:37, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi Yamla, thanks for your response. I was reading this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested_articles and my understanding is that users can request a page to be edited is that not correct ? if I am wrong let me know, thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevin at IES (talk • contribs)
- You are blocked. Your focus now should only be on getting unblocked. And you substantially lower the chances of this while you remain focused primarily or exclusively on your conflict of interest. --Yamla (talk) 16:21, 12 May 2020 (UTC
Hi, I understand that I am blocked thanks for that. I already told you above that that I am not going to edit any pages related to my organization. I will repeat that now that I know more about your editing process I apologize for this error on my part. I am requesting that you unblock this account in case i decide to contribute something unrelated to IES. I state that user 'Kevin at IES' agrees to avoid creating or directly editing articles related to my organization, thank you for your time. Kevin at IES (talk) 17:08, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- You haven't made a request to have your block lifted. You are welcome to do so. Remember, WP:GAB explains the process. --Yamla (talk) 16:30, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

Request reason:
KylieTastic) was going to respond with some suggestions and was unaware of the COI policy or the Wiki portal at that time. After discussing with 331dot & Yamla and also reading through your policy's about Usernames, Conflict of Interested (COI), and Biography of WP:BLP, and WP:BESTCOI. I now understand about the block and moving forward what should have been done on my part based on what is written at this Wiki shortcut, WP:COIEDIT. So based on the information I will re-state that I agree with Mr. Yamla's statement above 4:21 pm, 6 May 2020, Wednesday (15 days ago) (UTC−4) that I should and will avoid creating or directly editing articles related to my organisation. This statement by Mr. Yamla and myself is inline with Wikipedia's basic mission which is to provide the reader with expected neutral articles that are written and edited independently of their subject, not corporate pages or personal webpages, or for on-line digital marketing and promotion, thank you. Kevin at IES (talk) 17:18, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
Accept reason:
Willing to unblock based on the discussion below. Please make sure to remember the areas you agreed to avoid. creffett (talk) 16:01, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- I'm willing to consider this request. What areas do you plan to edit in if unblocked? creffett (talk) 14:28, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi, I think that I will have to pass on the BLP I was working on after discussing the policy with you guys. I will have to do a little more research on the portal to see what resources are available and for now maybe small edits like typos and adding pics to some random categories; nothing directly related to my organization or family, etc.. I will give you a quick example if you can navigate to the following site you can see that Canada only has 1 province listed;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Contents/Portals#Society_and_social_sciences
Geography and places (see in all page types) > Provinces and States
Australia: New South WalesQueensland,South AustraliaWestern Australia Canada: Ontario ( *********i think we have more provinces such as Quebec, New Brunswick, etc.. that can be added here. There are 10 Canadian provinces, with three territories in 2020 ?**********) China: Hong Kong Germany: Baden‑WürttembergBrandenburgHamburgMecklenburg‑VorpommernLower SaxonyRhine‑WestphaliaRhineland‑Palatinate United States: AlaskaArizonaCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutFloridaGeorgiaHawaiʻiIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasMarylandMichiganMississippiNew JerseyNew York (Hudson Valley)OhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaRhode IslandTexasUtahVirginia
I thank you again for reviewing this case and have a great day, cheers (Kevin at IES (talk) 15:45, 21 May 2020 (UTC))
Ok, Thanks (Kevin at IES (talk))
Reminder
[edit]As part of your conditions to be unblocked, you agreed to avoid editing in areas for which you have a conflict of interest. Your comments over at Wikipedia:Teahouse#Requesting_pages_due_to_COI indicate you plan to violate this agreement. You will find yourself immediately reblocked if you don't immediately cease. --Yamla (talk) 13:28, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- You have not yet declared your conflict of interest as required by WP:COI. And you are editing about meteorology, which is skirting the edges of WP:COI. You were unblocked with an understanding you'd avoid editing articles in areas for which you have a conflict of interest. You even gave a list of areas you'd write about instead. Editing List of meteorology institutions may well be appropriate at some time in the future, but is inappropriate at the moment. I'd advise you to refrain from even suggesting those edits at the moment, but wouldn't block you from doing so at, say, Talk:List of meteorology institutions after you have properly declared your conflict of interest (and assuming you stay away from more clear-cut cases, such as editing about your organisation or staff). And, immediately, before editing another article, you are required to declare your conflict of interest as per WP:COI. --Yamla (talk) 18:49, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
Ok I can understand that I apologize, thanks. (Kevin at IES (talk))
Done and I hope that this condition you placed gets lifted soon, thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevin at IES (talk • contribs)
- Thanks. Mind if I move that over to your user page for you? --Yamla (talk) 20:09, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
Yup, ok (Kevin at IES (talk) 00:11, 26 May 2020 (UTC))
Hello, I'm I dream of horses. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to Beaconsfield, Quebec because they seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Paid editing
[edit]Hello Kevin at IES. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Kevin at IES. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Kevin at IES|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Theroadislong (talk) 21:50, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hi,
- You are not mistaken I confirm that I am not being directly compensated for the proposed edits, thank you. Kevin at IES (talk) 22:02, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- Regardless, if you work for the company you are deemed to be a paid editor and need to make the mandatory disclosure. Theroadislong (talk) 22:04, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- And the COI disclosure on your user page isn't enough. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 23:09, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- OK, thanks so I will have to propose the changes through the talk Kevin at IES (talk) 00:50, 13 December 2022 (UTC)

Hello,
I would like to edit some of the sources on the SADIS page
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite_Distribution_System
There is a broken link in the References section
References should open to the below link Met Office: SADIS - https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/services/transport/aviation/regulated/sadis
What to you think can I go ahead and add that link? Kevin at IES (talk) 15:32, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
