We think adding Leeds or West Riding of Yorkshire as categories at the bottom of this page is good - can you do this if you think it is OK? Thanks as usual and check all new refs as usual. Ted.

Do not think either are appropriate as it is really only her family that has the connection. Keith D (talk) 11:10, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

Invitation to Admin confidence survey

Hello,

Beginning in September 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Anti-harassment tool team will be conducting a survey to gauge how well tools, training, and information exists to assist English Wikipedia administrators in recognizing and mitigating things like sockpuppetry, vandalism, and harassment.

The survey should only take 5 minutes, and your individual response will not be made public. This survey will be integral for our team to determine how to better support administrators.

To take the survey sign up here and we will send you a link to the form.

We really appreciate your input!

Please let us know if you wish to opt-out of all massmessage mailings from the Anti-harassment tools team.

My article was deleted by one of the moderators, I would like to have a second opinion on the same. Could you please help?

Article link FairFX Group plc

Hello Keith,

I am contacting you after seeing your achievements on Userpage. I am sure you can help me out with my problem.

There was one article that I wrote on FairFX Group PLC, which was deleted-G11 category. It was also called a spam article.

Here is the link-https://thepasteb.in/p/76hE1qNqXgjIV

Could you please enlighten, on what basis is an article categorized as spam?

I will wait to hear from you. JustinSilva94 (talk) 11:21, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I cannot get anything via the link the you supplied, just says "No such paste".
May be you could ask Edwardx (talk · contribs), who tagged the article for deletion, to explain further the reasons for the tagging. My guess it is the tone of the article is rather promotional, and written as though it was done just to publicise the company rather than from a neutral point of view. Keith D (talk) 19:49, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
JustinSilva94, I cannot recall the details, but very likely I would have suggested it as a G11 deletion on the grounds that the article was advertising or promoting the company, rather than providing encyclopaedic content. In any event, the company is unlikely to be notable enough. Edwardx (talk) 18:28, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello Keith D and Edwardx,

It would be great if could point the areas, that you find promotional. Since, I am new to this, I am finding it a little hard to understand my mistakes. Please help. Here is the link to the article - http://www14.zippyshare.com/v/T6OuvFRw/file.html

JustinSilva94 (talk) 11:06, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

I would think about rewriting the Business Model section as that read like something from an advert and is not very understandable by those who do not know much of the technical terms used. It also seems to be in the past rather then current. The History section could also be clearer without repeating of the company name too many times. Keith D (talk) 00:14, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
One last time I am bothering you, I have reworked on all the areas you have mentioned. Could you please let me know, anything needs to be done this piece - http://www92.zippyshare.com/v/rrX7BqHy/file.html

Thank you very much for being kind enough... JustinSilva94 (talk) 10:17, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Looks better like that, will be better once the wiki links are in the text. Keith D (talk) 23:48, 19 September 2017 (UTC) Nam
The page is nominated for speedy deletion again - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FairFX_Group_plc . But why? JustinSilva94 (talk) 12:44, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
Ask the one who tagged it for suggestions. May be you could create as draft first and submit to WP:AFC who should then give comments if they reject it. Keith D (talk) 12:50, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Nomination of Bitcoin Magazine for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Bitcoin Magazine is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted, or merged with Vitalik Buterin. I notified you as you have contributed to Buterin's page.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bitcoin Magazine until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Jtbobwaysf (talk) 08:30, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Aberford and Dates

Thanks for converting this, but why did it change my dates e.g. 14 April 2017, which is how I entered them and they appeared in preview? Chemical Engineer (talk) 14:17, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi, they appeared in the code as ISO type dates, i.e. 2017-04-14, which I did not think was appropriate so I changed them to the usual UK day first format. Keith D (talk) 14:25, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
I did not put them in as ISO dates, I entered them into the template as 17 September 2017, like this "Aberford". Wikipedia. Retrieved 17 September 2017. How does it look to you. Perhaps it will change overnight? Chemical Engineer (talk)
That looks OK. The one date of 17 September 2017 I did not change, all of the changes were to dates of 2017-04-14 which appear to be added in your edit but do not know why they were not all from September. Keith D (talk) 20:27, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
We will have to leave it as a mystery, and see if it happens again. I thought you might be aware of some technical reason. Chemical Engineer (talk) 10:03, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
Wondered if you are using the visual editor or the wiki text editor, as it could be some sort of problem with the former. Keith D (talk) 00:16, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello Keith, I have noticed that your addition to the recent image you've added was done partially incorrect - the new caption went into the 'image_size' part instead of the 'caption' bit. I have now fixed that small mistake. Iggy (talk) 06:30, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

Many thanks for spotting that. We all get things wrong at times. Keith D (talk) 10:27, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi,

Would be appreciated if you could take a look at the article on Mitch Mitchell. Basically for years the article had a false birth year (1947 when it is 1946) and middle name (Ronald - which was just added one day and never questioned. When it is Graham). I corrected this information a long time ago using a proper book reference, official birth records and a scan of some kind of employment record form for JH Experience playing in Europe with Mith Mitchell filled out and signed himself. As far as I'm aware, primary sources are not banned, they should just be used with care. The multple sources together remove any doubt as far as I can see. Because the Guardian used this false information from Wikipedia (as many publications do) in a obit, a particular user who removed most of the references has just reverted my change back. Wikipedia surely should publish facts, not incorrect information (and the Guardian republishing incorrect information obviously isn't reliable) and I don't believe there is any true issue with the references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.69.123.47 (talk) 17:50, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Date-format template

Hello, Keith. I'm hoping you can help me understand something better. In this edit here, you adjusted date formats to conform with the format specified in the banner. But you also updated the date of the banner. My initial instinct was to change the banner date back to 2014, my rationale being that it makes a better argument in the future to say that the format has been in place since 2014 and that the 2017 changes merely implemented that older decision. But you have so much tenure here that I stopped myself from doing that. Is there something I'm missing here? Is there some benefit to updating the banner's date? Any comments you have will be greatly appreciated. NewYorkActuary (talk) 18:06, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi, the date in the template is the date that the dates in the article were aligned not the date that the format was established. By changing the date you can then identify articles that have not had its dates aligned longest. Keith D (talk) 18:13, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
That does indeed make sense. Thanks for the prompt response. NewYorkActuary (talk) 18:18, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Dear Keith, I am just making you aware of my recent edit to the Wyke College Talk Page. I would appreciate your thoughts on what I have written, and advice on the best way to proceed. Zoyetu (talk) 16:07, 15 October 2017 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Camp Coniston, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Londonderry/Derry

Hello, I'm sorry about the confusion. The name in my atlas is Londonderry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A319:C140:6600:DDA4:F344:175D:C20A (talk) 22:36, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Please read the edit note at the top of the edit window on the article and as per the references. Keith D (talk) 22:44, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Dear Keith: I'm sorry about this. But I do insist that legally the city is called Londonderry according to the wikipedia page article about Londonderry. Although the council has been renamed Derry the law has not yet been overturned and since Londonderry is part of the UK it's fair that the name should be so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A319:C140:6600:DDA4:F344:175D:C20A (talk) 22:48, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Regarding https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R.A.C.L.A. - Sexual assault allegations section

Hello Keith ,

The recent article publised on the page keeps on getting edited with false text and we are trying to post the true facts regarding what happened in this case .

We would like the content of the post to remain as it is now ( including your grammatical corrections of course )

We want only the real version to be published, nothing else .

Thank you , Alex — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.26.203.246 (talk) 14:17, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Please use this page if you want to contact me.
I note there is very few differences between the version that I edited and the version that you keep reverting to and reintroducing the citation/formatting errors that I have now fixed 3 times and will have to fix again. Please edit the latest version to retain the fixes. I was thinking of removing some of the text as it is poorly referenced and need between sourcing other than Facebook. Keith D (talk) 14:28, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello again Keith,

I've saved your updated version Is there any way for this section to remain locked in this stage , to prevent further modifications ? There is a version that includes words that are misleading. Sorry again for giving you unnecessary work to do ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.26.203.246 (talk) 14:40, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

There is no way of just locking a section of an article but the whole article can be protected for example, if there is vandalism. As this is not the case then we would not lock an article to a specific version just on request. Keith D (talk) 14:45, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

18:18, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

Lupton links (Leeds) in this article - please look at my edits - I think they are a bit shaky - thanks as always. TED — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.182.88.116 (talkcontribs) 07:58, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

Deleted edit

Hi. I am a student working on a graduate level group project where we have to make edits to a Wikipedia site that relate to content from our environmental/occupational health class. I see you recently deleted our content. I understand that we cited elements wrong, but I am not sure how to fix it. This is my first time working on a Wiki page. Could you get advice so that we can complete the project? You can delete it again after we get screenshots if you want.2601:282:1080:BCC0:9CF3:5E95:5779:31BB (talk) 20:39, 28 October 2017 (UTC)SL

Please could you point out the article that you are interested in as you did not edit it under the IP that made this edit. Keith D (talk) 20:43, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Looks like it was Pesticide poisoning, where you made a minor fix followed by a larger reversion by Kingofaces43, on whose Talk page there is some related discussion.—Odysseus1479 23:26, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for that, looks like it is what the IP was referring to. Keith D (talk) 23:33, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

I'm going to leave a message on the student's IP talk page, too, but a quick request: Could you tell me a bit more information about the class? In particular, the name/email of your instructor and the institution? I work for the Wiki Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides free support for instructors and students contributing to Wikipedia for a class assignment. I'd love to get some information to your instructor about the interactive training, technical tools, and staff support available. Thanks. --Ryan (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:52, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

I assume this is directed at the IP rather then me as I have no connection to any class. Keith D (talk) 23:33, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
