Attention needed at username change request

[edit]

Hello. A renamer or clerk has responded to your username change request, but requires clarification before moving forward. Please follow up at your username change request entry as soon as possible. Thank you. - FlightTime (open channel) 17:12, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Usernames need to represent an individual not a business or corporation per WP:PROMONAME and WP:ISU. Thank you, - FlightTime (open channel) 17:15, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Gotcha but can I create a page under this username for my business? BWKTravelKU (talk) 17:17, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, per WP:COI, however you can request that someone else write one, follow the instructions here. It would be best that you request a change of username first. - FlightTime (open channel) 17:52, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a business directory, so a company is not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of a company, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the company must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:25, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Karla Urwitz. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Karla Urwitz. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Karla Urwitz|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. You are considered a paid editor with regards to BWK Travel. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 20:24, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because (your reason here) --Karla Urwitz (talk) 20:31, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am in the process of changing it. I literally hit publish and realized I couldn't put business information in there and you all flagged it. Give a person a change to change it.

Note: If someone creates the article, you can not edit it either, you'll need to request your edits using {{Edit COI}} (read the edit request's documentation before using it) and read and follow the instructions at WP:PAID, Just a heads up. - FlightTime (open channel) 20:45, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your userpage (User:Karla Urwitz) is a place where you can write a small amount about yourself, as long as it complies with Wikipedia's userpage guidelines. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:48, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
