Editing articles for web accessibility

Web accessibility is the goal of making web pages easier to navigate and read. While this is primarily intended to assist those with disabilities, it can be helpful to all readers.

While editing articles, keep in mind the goal of making Wikipedia web accessible. All users, regardless of ability, should be able to read, navigate, and contribute to Wikipedia easily.

The Accessibility section of Wikipedia's Manual of Style (MOS) is a valuable resource that provides helpful guidelines. In addition, Accessibility dos and do nots is a quick summary of the most important guidelines for editors.

WikiProject Accessibility is a group of editors promoting better access for disabled and other users. For more information, such as what you can do to help, see the main project page.

A tag has been placed on Category:Wikipedia editcopies requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. [edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:58, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello friend. I noticed you nominated COVID-19 Pandemic for deletion, and your reasoning was that searches are not case sensitive. I don't know exactly how it works, but at least some searches are case sensitive, and it causes some confusion. For example, WP:SUMMARY vs wp:summary. Anyway, just wanted to let you know. Pseudo-namespace shortcuts

[edit]

Hello JsfasdF, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. You recently created two invalid pseudo-namespace shortcuts:

  • SP:Random should have not been created, because “SP:” isn’t a pseudo-namespace that’s accepted and used by the Wikipedia community right now.
  • MOS:N should have not been created, because the notability guideline doesn’t seem to be related to the Manual of Style.

To see what pseudo-namespaces that should have shortcuts and when creating them is appropriate, you can look at WP:PNS and Wikipedia:Shortcut#List of prefixes. Thanks, GMXping! 00:25, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion tagging

[edit]

Hello, JsfasdF252,

You can't just say that a page should be deleted without providing a reason. Before you tag any more pages for speedy deletion, please review Criteria for Speedy Deletion and see what criteria Wikipedia has determined are grounds for deletion. And User talk pages are rarely, if ever, deleted unless they have content that violates copyright or BLP guidelines. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 06:30, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Be careful with DISPLAYTITLE

[edit]

While I appreciate the benefit of having "computer terms" like cmd.exe and CONFIG.SYS appear in a mono-spaced font, it's very unconventional to change the font of a page title for an actual encyclopedia article.

If you think this should be done, please open a discussion on either a specific article's talk page or a project talk page, probably the talk page of WP:Article titles or Wikipedia:Naming conventions (technical restrictions). davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 22:13, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Responses" section removal

[edit]

Hello, JsfasdF252! I see that you decided to remove the entire "Responses" section from the article COVID-19 pandemic in the United States and paste it into a new article, COVID-19 pandemic in the United States/Responses. I know that you did this in good faith, and it probably is a good idea to move most of that material out of the main article. But it cannot be done by simply, unilaterally removing the whole thing without any input from other editors. Another editor reversed your removal, following which you restored it, and I reverted it. Do not restore it again! That article is under special restrictions, one of which is that if you do something and it gets reverted, you should go to the article talk page and discuss it, rather than repeating your edit. I have started a discussion on the article's talk page; please discuss the matter there, and I'm pretty sure we can work out a consensus to move most of the material to the new article, while leaving a short summary in the existing article. Thanks. -- MelanieN (talk) 19:29, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Another point: It's okay to copy or move material from one Wikipedia article to another, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of our license. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying within Wikipedia in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 12:44, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, Diannaa, I had already added the attribution in a null edit. But it's good to point that requirement out to JsfasdF - which I didn't. -- MelanieN (talk) 20:40, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I see that now Melanie. Thanks, — Diannaa (talk) 20:46, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on U.S. state (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, List of ISU World Standings and Season's World Ranking statistics/Season-end No. 1 skaters. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – List of ISU World Standings and Season's World Ranking statistics. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at List of ISU World Standings and Season's World Ranking statistics. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions.

Please read point 3 of Wikipedia:Subpages#Disalowed uses: Using subpages for permanent content that is meant to be part of the encyclopedia. Your recent edits to split List of ISU World Standings and Season's World Ranking statistics into subpages are a clear violation of that guideline and I've therefore reverted them. * Pppery * it has begun... 23:52, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Software has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the entry on the Templates for discussion page. 86.23.109.101 (talk) 23:08, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Module:Delimited tag requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

* Pppery * it has begun... 03:33, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Hybrid templates requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Community topic ban

[edit]

Per community consesus (diff) you are now topic-banned from editing all namespaces except for Talk. I enforced the topic ban by using the mechanism of partial blocks.--Ymblanter (talk) 12:10, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Now I opened the user space as well.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:40, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify, I meant you can edit talk pages in all namespaces, plus the user space.--Ymblanter (talk) 14:20, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request on 16 January 2022

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

JsfasdF252 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I knew what I did wrong on Wikipedia, such as creating hybrid templates, messing with red links, simulating article subpages, and creating confusing redirects, all in an attempt to reduce the wikicode size of articles. Even though I made these bad edits before being blocked, I also made plenty of good edits, and I submitted some successful edit requests while I was blocked. I have been editing other wikis during the block, including other Wikimedia wikis, and I think I know enough to avoid doing any of the things that led me to the block. Since the block, I have caught dozens, if not hundreds of errors on the English Wikipedia, but I haven't been able to fix them. I made some edit requests to address the issues, but it takes time for these edit requests to be fulfilled, and they only represent a slim minority of the mistakes I noticed. I also used to engage in Word Association before the block. The block has been active for 8 months now, and a lot has changed since I first received a block. JsfasdF252 (talk) 22:06, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I have unblocked you from articlespace per consensus at AN. You may appeal the other namespace blocks in 6 months. Please take care to avoid the types of edits that led to friction in the past. --Blablubbs (talk) 13:43, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Since this was imposed by the community, the community needs to discuss its removal. Is this the statement you would like transferred to a discussion board? 331dot (talk) 09:55, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I might be locked out of the discussion, but it is better than no discussion at all. JsfasdF252 (talk) 23:24, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You may leave additional comments or replies here to also be transferred. I will copy it over soon. 331dot (talk) 00:19, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request on 23 March 2022

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

JsfasdF252 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I feel like I should be unblocked from the Wikipedia project namespace, since I know what I did wrong. I won't change ancient shortcuts or create disruptive XFD nominations. I already made a constructive edit to the MOS (pointing out another thing wrong with using seasons for time) It may also be appropriate for me to be unblocked from namespaces for which I have made very few, if any edits, such as the File and Portal namespaces. I think I should still be blocked from the Template and Category namespaces, as I probably did more disruptive edits in either of these 2 namespaces than any other namespace. Even though it hasn't been 6 months since I have been unblocked from article space, it has been almost a year since I was first blocked, and I feel like progress toward becoming fully unblocked shouldn't take this long, especially since I know what I shouldn't do when editing pages. JsfasdF252 (talk) 04:43, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You should probably try following the advice below. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 00:40, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • Since your cban in May 2021, it looks as if you've only made one edit request for a page in the Wikipedia namespace. I would suggest that making some more contributions to that namespace via edit requests would be a good way to demonstrate that you would be a net positive in that area. A tag has been placed on Undertale (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Why? Pacalat River moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Pacalat River, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 11:18, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
